moog would gladly swap my bazongas for smaller ones, believe me, they are a handicap especially during yoga where they make it impossible to lay on my front (if I did I think there would be an almighty bang and alot of mess). My mother keeps commenting on them which is really annoying...they are heavy, they hurt and when they deflate they are going to trip me up! Oh and DH is fascinated by them but isnt allowed to play with them so he would like smaller ones as well!

Clarkiee · 21/12/2010 10:39

Moog re boobs someone said to me that my boobs don't look any different (gone from a c to a d/dd) but I just thought less stretch marks and maybe less sagging so don't worry about it.

I still feel like crap! This is the fourth day in a row that I've not left the house Sad. I was very envious of the guy on the lemsip advert Envy. My DH tried out our new camera last night- I looked like bloody Rudolph Xmas Sad

KaraStarbuckThrace · 21/12/2010 10:57

Jingle - there are quite a few Nigerians on my team - and their names are so pretty to hear but hellish to pronounce and spell!! I did get a compliment from one of them for pronouncing her name properly though :)

jinglebellssantasmells · 21/12/2010 11:01

Dp has told me a few but he doesnt have any nigerian family there is just his dad and sister who r english so i have had no practise pronouncing any, think ill stick to a european name :)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 21/12/2010 11:41

Need a quick rant before off to AN appointment.

Just checked my Halifax current account £400 overdrawn!!! Turns out DH has transferred me the money to cover the mortgage payment and I have the bloody egg credit card bill to go out in 2 days!!! Grrrrrrrrrrr!
Have rung him, grovelling apologies from him and he will arrange to it to be transferred today - luckily both his bank and mine support instant transfers - phew!
I'll take the overdraft charges out of his beer money Grin

KaraStarbuckThrace · 21/12/2010 11:42

I meant he hasn't transferred the money! Doh!

And nursery have rung, DS is feeling a bit under the weather Sad they are going to give him a little calpol and see how he gets on.

santamaxx · 21/12/2010 12:32

I find boys' names so much easier - I think if this one is a boy, it will be either Joachim or Gabriel. They both have significance to us. They are both quite festive names actually (not that it matters in June right enough) - Gabriel, for obvious reasons - and Joachim is the father of the Virgin Mary Xmas Smile

Moog72 · 21/12/2010 12:56

Gabriel is lovely imo but DH doesn't like it. He has just suggested Florian which I don't like at all... and so it goes on!

jinglebellssantasmells · 21/12/2010 13:00

santmax- how wud u pronounce joachim?

santamaxx · 21/12/2010 13:31

jinglebells officially it should be 'yo-kim' (it's hebrew - not to be confused with the spanish name which has a diff pronunciation) butwe would prob just use 'jo-kim' as it's more obvious Smile

santamaxx · 21/12/2010 13:33

I love Gabriel too moog but DH isn't completely sold on it.
I also really like Samuel and Daniel Smile (but not quite as much)

motherofsnortpigs · 21/12/2010 13:45

If you're going biblical santa what about Malachi? Our dd2 is Hephzibah, which I know isn't to everyone's taste...I think I agreed to it because I was convinced she was a boy Xmas Hmm I love it now and it really suits her theatrical side.

jinglebellssantasmells · 21/12/2010 13:46

thats nice ive never heard it before, in spanish it wud prob be pronounced Hokim i think wudnt it. im looking forward to scan so i can just concentrate on one gender of name deciding

santamaxx · 21/12/2010 14:11

motherofsnortpigs - I considered Malachi for DS but it didn't make the short list - I do like it though. He ended up with another biblical name staring with an M Wink.
I like Hephzibah - in 7 brides for 7 brothers, they suggest the baby girl be called Hephzibah (but she gets called Hannah instead) - how sad am I?
I love biblical names - they're so interesting. My brother calls his daughter 'Mordecai' as a nickname - I have no idea why.

santamaxx · 21/12/2010 14:15

jinglebells I'm not too sure about the spanish - you're prob right but then i think it might be spelled differently too - Juachin or something - it's the same name, just a different language.
I'm so going to try not to ask the gender but I can't be trusted in tempting situations.
I really want a boy for DS (and because name-picking is easy) but also really want a girl for DD (even though the name picking is a nightmare). In my limited experience, I also believe girls are easier Grin

KaraStarbuckThrace · 21/12/2010 14:16

Joaquím in Spanish is pronounced Hwa-KEEN. One of my dad's cousins is Joachim, he also has a cousin José and a cousin Jesús!
We have some lovely Spanish names on my Dad's side of the family, I have a cousin Inmaculada (never asked her if her middle name is Concepción Grin) but they would sound very odd with our very English surname!

We sort of have a list of names but not really discussed them. Supposed we will get around to it eventually Smile

Heard the heartbeat at the AN appointment, took a while to find due to baby being low down and my big fat belly

Moog72 · 21/12/2010 15:55

Has anyone read the webchat re. flu jabs? It has persuaded me to have it I think. I am going to go to the docs and get one tomorrow.

jinglebellssantasmells · 21/12/2010 15:57

moog- i read it and have decided to get it to, rang the drs, i have it nxt week

Clarkiee · 21/12/2010 15:59

I think I'm going to have one. I think if you work with a lot of people then your changes of catching it are higher. At least we are all past the 12 week stage too x

GoodVibrations · 21/12/2010 16:03

kara hurray for hearing the heartbeat!

I'm loving all this name talk. We've decided not to find out the sex, so need a shortlist for each. Not that it makes much difference, as we knew DD was a girl but when she was born she didn't suit the names on the shortlist. She was nameless for 3 days while we picked something else!.

I like Lucas for a boy, and Gabriel aswell (also Gabrielle for girl). I like Sebastian but DH hates it. DD has quite a classical name so need something that matches. Hmmmmm. We had Sasha and Saskia on the shortlist last time. DH also liked India, but we have a very 'ordinary' surname and it didn't go very well.

Well just as we are all starting to feel better, DD has been referred to the community nurses as she's been having lots of problems with constipation. She is on medication but now is holding it in (with a vengeance - lasted 8 days). Poor thing she's getting so upset. Hope she's ok for Christmas day, she loves roast dinners Sad

Hope everyone is ok today :)

Clarkiee · 21/12/2010 16:09

Just booked in for my jab (hmmm now I come to think of it would it be for the flu jab and swine flu jab- is it the same thing?). Mentioned to the receptionist that I'm currently under the weather and would it be best to leave it till I felt better. She said yes so booked it in for after Christmas, at least that way I shouldn't have any side effects for Christmas and if I have to miss New Year as a sober pregnant woman I'll manage Grin.
Reading the current thread made my mind up- especially reading the post from the woman who was ill for 15 days and had to go into hospital on a drip!

santamaxx · 21/12/2010 16:09

I read it - I had already decided anyway but it spurred me on to make an appt - they can't do it til next week so now I'm going to worry myself silly about catching it before then...

GV DS had a dreadful stool-withholding problem for about 2 years. It really was terrible. How long has it been going on do you think? It normally takes people quite a while to spot that they are holding in rather than straining - so well done working it out. The quicker you get her on a laxative programme the better.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 21/12/2010 16:20

Moog - yeah I read it to. Have booked mine in for 5th January, want to make sure I am clear of this horrible cough/cold thing.

Brought DS home early, he is off his food, even ignored the choccie biscuits I have offered him Sad

GoodVibrations · 21/12/2010 18:03

santa thanks for the reply, glad to know we're not alone. I don't think (hope) the withholding has been going on for long. She had a fissure a few weeks ago and it was very painful so think that was the trigger. Don't know how you coped for 2 years, it's been so stressful. DD has had problems with constipation on and off since being weaned onto solid food, mainly because she won't drink anything.
I bf up until very recently (I was too ill to put her to bed and she stopped asking) and I think that has made it worse :(
Anyway the community nurses are here tomorrow to decide what the plan should be, though speaking to them on the phone I think she will need to stay on the medication for a long time now.

santamaxx · 21/12/2010 18:15

I think cutting down/stopping bfing caused constipation (perhaps a fissure as well) and triggered it too.
I read a good book on the subject written by a paediatrician who specialised in the area and luckily had a great GP who knew exactly how to treat it.

Before we had this GP, there were lots of mistakes made with stimulant laxatives (e.g. senna) which caused cramping and just made the whole situation a lot worse. By the time we were on the right road, his colon was so badly stretched that long term laxatives would have been necessary even if he stopped with-holding immediately Sad

We basically were on firstly an 'evacuation' dose of movicol to clear everything out and start from scratch. Then it was trying to find a daily dose which kept the stools soft enough that he couldn't hold them in, and slowly but surely he was reassured that there was no pain and his colon could return to normal. Getting the balance right took a little while. Eventually, we could gradually reduce the dosage as he had simply forgotten to hold it in (and the internal damage was repaired.

You will know if things are really bad as there will be encopresis - overflow diarrhoea - showing up as smeared pants. This happens as the colon is impacted.
Sorry if I'm explaining too much - you prob know all about it - I just get quite passionate about it as it was such a dreadful dreadful; thing to get under control and the quicker you get on the right road, the faster it will be solved.

It does sound as though you've caught it early though - so hopefully it will be a short-term thing for you all Smile

Whatever you do, don't let them give you stimulant laxatives - ideally she needs movicol but they will prob start with lactulose - best of luck with it Smile
