2nd trimesters here we come...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
moomin156 · 16/12/2010 15:26

i agree, yes you are into the 2nd trimester, into your 13th week if you really want it to sound great. TTL is it your first??

moomin156 · 16/12/2010 15:27

I just went back to look at the stats to answer my own question.........yes it is :)

NurseSnowflake · 16/12/2010 15:41

Hey, have been working nights so have just had to catch up on a few days worth, sorry if I miss people.

MASSIVE congrats to everyone who's had a lovely scan today :)

Milliemuffin sorry about the row and things, also hope DP says sorry before he forgets about it. Nobody deserves a TV btw!

Leroy, you do know how to start a post! Keep on with those pelvic floor excercise eh Xmas Grin

My heart goes out to you, Moomin and Jbells. I also am massively jealous of people with neat little B-C cups! Mine were E before and are now G. Hopefully they're not going to get any bigger but I think that's too much to ask isn't it Xmas Sad

Do all you in mat clothes have a real bump then? My tummy is definitely sticking out but I don;t know if it's just because I constantly eat too much. On one hand I feel as though I'm too big for 14 weeks (todayXmas Grin ) and on the other I am jealous of everyone saying they're in proper maternity clothes. I just wish I had something to compare myself to. I need a bump yardstick!

TTL PLEASE use the "it might not be my husband's" line at the xmas party! PLEASE!!

takethatlady · 16/12/2010 15:47

nurse the only person who thinks I have a bump is DH and that's cos he's the only person who sees me naked. Everything pretty much fits though a couple of bits that were already tight are feeling very tight. I am of the B cup brigade (now a pregnant C) but quite looking forward to having bigger knockers for a bit (and then letting them go small again Smile)

I WILL use the line if anyone asks me if it was planned. Wish I'd used it on the silly (and somewhat evangelical) girl who asked me that in the first place Grin. Probably actually I'll chicken out - if only I was allowed to get a bit drunk I'd definitely do it though Wink

moomin156 · 16/12/2010 15:54

nurse hope the nights are going ok.

I have a wobbly bump .......was showing my freind yesterday and she's like dont worry it will soon be a bump and become hard. I dont seem to have put weight on in legs, thighs or face so i am hoping its just all pg realted, although i do knwo i am eating far more than i used to. Unless naked or showing it off i just look fatter......

takethatlady · 16/12/2010 15:55

Oh nurse do you mind me asking you a question in your capacity as an actual nurse? Just tell me to bog off if you don't want to do work on the internet!

My cycles have always been really long - 7-10 weeks before I went on the pill at 16 (had had periods for four years before that). Then on the pill I didn't have periods at all (for 11 years). When I came off it it took 7 months to conceive but I only had 3 periods and my cycles were 7 weeks, 7 weeks and then 9 weeks.

Today at the scan the sonographer could only find one ovary. She said it didn't matter, she was just looking for problems and if there was a problem she would be able to see it.

But now I'm wondering, might I only have one ovary? And might that explain the fact I basically seem to skip every other period? Having only GCSE biology I have forgotten if this is possible or likely! (am probably just being nuts).

NurseSnowflake · 16/12/2010 15:55

Pretend you're drunk, that'll give everyone even more to be Shock about!! Xmas Grin I am so sick of people asking me if it's planned by now. I am always just too embarrassed to call them on their rudeness.

Does evreyone else's boobs hurt btw? Mine don't. Normally this would be a good thing, but we;re not normal anymore are we? Confused

takethatlady · 16/12/2010 16:05

Mine still hurt but they've remained at the same level of medium pain (i.e. sore when I prod them, sore when I take my bra off or lie on my front, but forgettable at all other times) since about 8DPO, barring the odd alarming day without any pain.

It's probably because I'm wearing underwired bras at least one cup size too small, tbh!

takethatlady · 16/12/2010 16:06

PS - I won't have to pretend I'm drunk once they see my dance moves Wink Grin. It would be the natural assumption to make - I have an uncontrollable booty which is going to embarrass the life out of my children!

moomin156 · 16/12/2010 16:10

nurse mine hurt, pretty much the same as TTL.......cant bear for them to be unleashed and particularly painful at the sides

takethatlady · 16/12/2010 16:11

moomin unleashed is SO the right word Grin

moomin156 · 16/12/2010 16:13

TTL what are you wearing to your christmas bash. I gave mine a miss, no alcohol, no clothes it was just too depressing

moomin156 · 16/12/2010 16:14

Im also avoiding DH's.......he is in the military so its a full formal do, couldnt bare the squeezing into a ball gown with heels, then remaining sober with all that free booze.

NurseSnowflake · 16/12/2010 16:26

Mine's the same Moomin, not hard and just looks like I'm a bit podgy unless I whip my top up to have (yet another) look! I have put weight on elsewhere though unfortch.

Nights were OK thanks, they;re finished now. Last night was rather eventful, I got punched by one man, called fat by another and then a lady poo-ed on a table. But on the other hand a patient gave me a christmas card with such a lovely message inside that I cried in front of her and she rubbed my back!! Blush

TTL, I'm a student nurse not a real one just yet! :) But I guess it's perfectly possible that you might have one ovary. I'm not sure if this would necessarily mean you'd skip every other period, it would appear to make sense though I was under the impression that ova were released randomly from ovaries not necessarily left, right, left, right. But you might be unusually symetrical. So basically, I don't know for sure and no-one would unless they did exploratory tests. But if you're worried speak to your midwife/GP. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, as obviously, you have concieved! And we develop thousands more ova than we could ever use in a lifetime so it's not like you'd run out.

On the other hand the sonographer may not have been able to get a look at your other ovary so may have been wrong anyway. Ask at your next scan perhaps. Are you worried about it? Sorry I couldn't be more helpful :)

takethatlady · 16/12/2010 16:53

Oh moomin I sympathise, but I have a gorgeous peacock blue sparkly dress which didn't fit me properly when I wasn't pregnant because my boobs were too small ... it fits now! It's got a sort of ruched strapless bust which has sparkly bits in the middle - you tie it up around your neck (not exactly halterneck though). It ties at the back, too, and pulls you in just under the bust and then is floaty to mid-thigh, so skims over all the pregnant bits. Quite excited to be able to wear it without a safety pin digging into my sides!

takethatlady · 16/12/2010 16:55

Thanks nurse - trainee or no trainee it's a lot more qualified than me! That's helpful - I did used to get the odd period 4 weeks from the others. Google generally suggests its hormonal and nothing to do with one ovary or two ... but as with all googling, the results are mixed!

The sonographer didn't say it was missing, just couldn't find it. Not unduly worried either ... just wondered if it might explain my frustratingly long cycles. Prob just that I was a teenager and then coming off the pill though.

moomin156 · 16/12/2010 17:01

TTL that dress sounds lovely......especially if it skims all the wobbly bits

catherineps · 16/12/2010 17:16

Hello all, been a while so lots to catch up on!

Most importantly, congrats to those who have had scans today :) I hope there's more good news to come.

ttl I'm not an expert but if i think back to physiology in my degree i would have thought even if you did have one ovary and on some months it didn't ovulate because it was expecting the other one to, you would still have a period. Also the fact that she couldn't find it doesn't mean it's not there! But might be worth looking into afterwards. BTW, I have had my (horrendous) blood test and they told me results would be given to the midwife. not happy about having to give more blood at the scan on monday by the sound of it! I've still got a 4-inch bruise from last week.

Can't believe other people are talking about their 20 week scans - i'm counting down to my first on monday! but so excited :)

Leroy you make me laugh - I have been training myself to tense before I cough!

Love to all others, can't possibly remember everything that I've just caught up on! x

moomin156 · 16/12/2010 17:26

catherineps......you must be the last of the 12 week scans then. We thought they were all being completed today.

NoMoreSnowPlease · 16/12/2010 17:28

Good news on the good scans today. We can't have many 12 weeks scans left can we?

I realised my earlier post ended up sounding quite rantish. I would not actually punch anyone. Also I've since done my christmas shopping, so I can now face that question with out dread Xmas Grin

I am so very much looking forward to getting through the silly season, the weather warming up, my appetite returning and my food staying down every day not just random days. Then I can settle back, enjoy growing my bump and enjoy playing with my adorable DS again.

takethatlady · 16/12/2010 17:36

nomore how did the shopping go?

Bad news. Not wearing the dress after all as it's chucking down with snow here and I don't want to drive 60 miles to drink orange juice and drive back again. I HATE being a party pooper and really wanted to spend time with my (still relatively new) colleagues. But seems silly to drive off into the night in the snow just for an alcohol-free party :(

It's my mum's 50th on the 30th Dec so I'll wear the dress then...

Thanks catherine and good luck for your scan. When is it?!

moomin156 · 16/12/2010 17:41

TTL dont blame you......better not to risk getting stuck in the snow, maybe put the frock on and watch TV.........
