Sorry drama queen here.

wigglesrock · 29/11/2010 20:48

Ledkr you're not being a drama queen at all. Fair enough for one night after the birth but only for grandparents. There is no need for dh sister to stay. In fact I would have thought she would have had the wit to suggest that her and her parents come at the same time but stay in a hotel or b&b, can dh not suggest it to her and let her suggest it to the parents. This is how we deal with "delicate" situations in our family Grin. More behind the scenes shenannigans than the UN!!!!!

ZeroMistletoeZeroTinsel · 29/11/2010 22:15

ledkr that sounds good to me, you are definitely not being unreasonable. If anything, you're being too reasonable. The thing that annoys me the most about it is that it's so presumptuous, just expecting to stay like that. At least wangle for an invite first!

DH just got back from Sainsburys with instructions to look into breast and maternity pads for me but he didn't buy them because he said they might be on offer between now and D Day and then we can really stock up. Meanwhile, I've been mning, marking and keeping an eye on the snow because it's now snowing in deepest darkest Kent!!! No school tomorrow, hopefully! Grin

Apologies to those of you who don't want snow, but for me it means no work while still getting paid. Although for DH it means no work and no pay so it's not all good news.

angels1 · 30/11/2010 06:59

Morning ladies,

We have snow here in Kent this morning. I've just been looking up traffic camera piccies for DH to see if there's snow where he's off to work as he works outside (brrrrr) so if there's a layer of snow underfoot he can't do his job. Looks like there is snow where he's off to but he still plods on in the hope of managing to work as he's self employed and doesn't want to lose money

zero is your school closed? Hope so Grin

ledkr your PIL sound like a PITA from all you've said. Agree with whoever had the fab advice of getting DH on your side and getting him to do dirty work.

Btw do any of you ladies with spd/back/hip etc pain only have a downstairs bathroom/loo? If so, how do you cope when loo trips in the night get to epic proportions? I was owwing up/down every step on the stairs to get to the loo last night. I'm seriously considering using a bed pan (is that the right word?) to avoid all the stairs but am a bit icked out to do it Blush
It's beginning to look alot like Christmas Wink

ledkr · 30/11/2010 07:11

Morning all, thanks again for your support.I did mention it to dh and he was laughing at the every weekend thing as if he though it ridiculous and pointed out that he is hardly here at weekends and that hes sure his dad wont want to be here every weekend. The sil he stumbed over, hes a bit soft with her but you lot have given me the guts to push on and i will show him these comments too.I just cant bear to hev the house all busy, crowded and noisy 5 days post section AND THATS THAT. Snow here too was just checking the school closures.I have a sore throat and dh will need car so i will be on foot to collect later.I wonder how snow affects walking with spd-might make it better haha.

ledkr · 30/11/2010 07:13

angels i have an en suite cos i is posh.(its tiny and unimpressive) couldnt do stairs get a bucket love.

janedoe25 · 30/11/2010 07:19

ledkr spd + walking in snow = not good! Ihad to take the minded kids to school yesterday in shin deep snow, was hard work and was in agony all day/night! i am hoping the schools are closed today.................

ledkr · 30/11/2010 08:22

thanks for the heads up jane, its not too deep and dh will take her,ill have to get her to walk across the field whilst i watch her at home time,i dont even have any boots to fit on my fat legs and not ruining my uggs

ledkr · 30/11/2010 12:34

Helooooo, where are you all? I am snow bound and am sick of daytime tv. I have just heard from mw and my date for section is def 31st Jan arrrgh, scared now. That means 9 wks yesterday.I was thinking i may end up the first on the thread but then started thinking that statistically a few of us will prob have early babies.I wonder who it will be.

wigglesrock · 30/11/2010 13:42

Ledkr is 31 Jan really just 9 weeks away?, aaagh freaking out now and I'm due 2 weeks after you!!!

We have no more snow but lots and lots of ice Sad DD1 woke up feeing really ill this morning, managed to get GP appt, dragged all of us to sugery whereupon the 12 year old GP (who was very good and distractingly handsome) gave me a look of pity at having 2 wee ones and another one on the way!! She has swollen glands in her neck and tummy but seems to be making a rather miraculous recovery Shock In fact we are now having a "read through" of her nativity play, slowly losing the will to live Wink. It's not for another 2 weeks, not sure I will care at that point if "Bethlehem in Buzzin'" or notGrin

TallulahBelly14 · 30/11/2010 14:17

Oh wow ledkr - a January definite! I'm secretly hoping I might sneak a few days forward and be in January as well, I just want the baby to arrive NOW!!

jackfrost · 30/11/2010 15:13

I reckon I will beat 31st Jan Grin they won't let me go past 38 weeks so that is about 29th ish. I'm thinking mine will be here sometime in the next 6 weeks! Might just be wishful thinking though! Getting quite regular braxton hicks and girls have both been head down and very low for past six weeks, also getting the strangest spasms! Confused

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 30/11/2010 15:24

I am also a poster on Another Forum with Another February 2011 Due Date Board, and one of the women there has just had her waters go at 30+1 and in hospital! (she does have a history of prem babies, though)

PDR · 30/11/2010 15:26

Had a small flurry of snow this morning but it's all gone now - managed to drive to my friends for lunch though as roads all clear.

Feeling really tearful this afternoon - just had a little cry to myself after DS went for a nap Blush

EauRouge · 30/11/2010 15:32

Prof, you traitor Grin That is terrifying though! Hope the poor woman and her baby are OK. I was just talking to my mum earlier and saying I only have 11 weeks left, how on Earth has this happened?! Chatting to you lot has certainly passed the time!

Bit of snow here, my mum took DD out in it earlier and she likes it a lot more now than she did last year (DD that is, not my mum).

PDR, hope you're OK and that it's just hormones and nothing's upsetting you. Have some chocolate cake and watch some crap telly :)

I don't think I'm in any danger of having an early baby! DD was 11 days late.

PDR · 30/11/2010 15:39

No danger of a Jan baby here either - DS was 14 days late and induced even then!

EauRouge tis the hormones I think. My boss was supposed to send me a letter for the DWP confirming how many hours I work but she's sent one confirming that I'm "a permanent part-time employee since 2007..." instead. This made me cry as I had to email her asking for another letter Hmm

Going to Christmas Shopping Evening tonight at DS's nursery with my 2 best friends - really forward to it :)

ledkr · 30/11/2010 15:44

Ah pdr whats up? I think the 3rd tri is the difficult one emotionally.I have been fairly low and quite irrational.Yesterday with the pils situation i was regretting marrying dh as it seems i have inherited regular overnight visitors for life.
Prof you are a multiple thread user, thats why you disappear from time to time, dont forget we are the bestest one tho.
I had ds2 at 29 wks and ds3 at 37 wks, both started with waters going.I have also been having regular uncomfortable b hicks i sometimes expect the water to go then.
Yes the twin pgs will be first i forgot that,i cant imagine pushing out 2 ouch.
I have been extra breathless for few days but i have a sore throat so maybe coming down with a cold.
pdr do something to take your mind off things,i am reading my bookie wook 2 by Russel Brand and had to pick it up at 3am as the visitor situation was running around my brain.

PDR · 30/11/2010 15:51

ledkr irrational is the word I think - is that normal? I can't remember being like this when carrying DS1!

I have to speak to the doctor about work tomorrow as my sick-note runs out on Friday. I find it really hard not to cry at him about how hard I am finding it Blush! He's so nice and kind - that makes it worse! I am wondering if I should go back to work for my "mental health" though I know physcially it will be a strain for me as even popping to the shops is a major issue now. Hmmm....

EauRouge · 30/11/2010 15:51

Oh God, I really hope the third trimester isn't worse for me or I might actually end up killing someone Grin If you see on the news that a pregnant woman has gone on the rampage in rural Cambridgeshire then you'll know who it is.

americanexpat · 30/11/2010 15:54

We've had loads of snow (eastern Scotland) and it looks like it might continue. I suppose a 3rd day off work is too much to ask for?

Thank you for telling me I'm right (always lovely to hear!) about not relying on gifts for essential baby clothes. Will a bunch of sleepsuits and vests work for the first few weeks? I'm not keen to overbuy in newborn size.

Speaking of washable nappies, our council has a trial pack for £15 with samples of popular brands to try. If I'm not sure about type, is this the best way to try several?

angels1 · 30/11/2010 15:59

I'm very very glad a few of you have mentioned being irrational/emotional as I've been all over the place these past few days. Spent most of the week end in tears for no real reason other than just feeling down and overwhelmed by everything. DH finds it hard to understand but is doing his best. I thought that as time went on our emotions were suppose to get a bit more level, and thought it was just me being the only manic emotional pg lady!

ledkr · 30/11/2010 16:15

pdr is it girl? I cant remember if you said.
I had 3 ds with not much emotional stuff then with dd1 i was terrible,i used to turn up on my friends doorstep in tears and she would take me in and put me to bed in her bed!!I think it was the start of the demise of my marriage tbh.
I feel extremely irrational and everyone is pissing me off.I wake up in the night and seriously consider if i want the baby-terrible-i also feel overwhelmed at the lack of mobility and thus life of any sort like you pdr i cannot go very far and am very bored.Couldnt work tho as in my job you need to walk and breathe :)
Not long now ladies.

PDR · 30/11/2010 16:18

Feel better now my boss has just emailed me the letter for DWP to check and has done it right now.

Lucky we can afford to get by without my salary as I am not getting paid sick pay as I took 3 weeks unpaid holiday in the 6 weeks proir to going off sick and not entitled to employment & support allowance as have not paid enough NI in the qualifying years - 2007-9! Still have to fill in all the forms though just to get NI credits which is barely worth it Hmm.

EauRouge · 30/11/2010 16:20

I was quite cheerful with DD despite being very pukey, not this time though! Some days I wonder if puking would be better than getting angry at the drop of a hat. I think DH would have gone to work today if he'd had to walk through the snow to get there, he was pretty keen to get away from me Grin

geekygiraffe · 30/11/2010 16:43

I am very grumpy indeed, and feel too down to do anything. Glad to see I'm not the only one! 31 week midwife check tomorrow (will be technically 30+5. Also hoping for a late January arrival!
