angels using a disabled space just because you are pregnant in my opinion would be awful. Even my mum who is a badge holder and has problems with walking far does not park in those bays if there is a normal space close enough, as a person in a wheel chair really would have to go home as they could not get out of their car without the side space, nothing to do with walking. The reason for the parent and toddler bays again is for the side space, to get children in and out of car seats as they need the space. You cannot make a toddler wait outside the car while you reverse to get enough space to get them in if a numpty parked too close, I've even seen disabled badge holders get grief for parking in a P&T bays Hmm.

That's not to say I do not think temporary badges should be issues by doctors in extreme cases of pregnancy related problems.

Tarlia · 22/11/2010 18:50

Bugger, I also meant to add, when we get too big, we too may need the space, I challenge anyone to confront a pregnant woman for parking in a P&T bay and getting away alive Grin. when flying with easyjet a few weeks back I insisted I needed priority boarding with the kids as I was pregnant, needed to be near the toilet and had been previously pushed ;)

angels1 · 22/11/2010 18:52

yeah, tarlia, please don't get me wrong, I did say I was against using diasbled bays on principle and can't see that I'd ever do it (I felt guilty enough using parent and todler once in tesco last week). Just wondered what other people thought/were doing. Must admit I'm suprised disabled people have been given grief for parking in mother and toddler bays as surely they are more in need of a super close space Hmm

JustOneMorePlease · 22/11/2010 19:37

Hi all! Can't believe we have a new thread.!

Defo feel like a stuffed turkey! Haha!

Loads of Braxton hicks here too!

Take care.

Tarlia · 22/11/2010 19:48

angels I do appoligise if you thought I was getting at you, I know you hadn't said you were going to park in disabled bays, I was just giving a view on the whole special bay dilemma.

I'm in a grump today, lack of sleep due to too much pain.

linz17xxx · 22/11/2010 19:58

Hi everyone, been so busy but iv been trying to keep up. Had my 28 week appointment last week and my bump is measuring 2cm too small...hopefully small baby :) suffering terrible rib pains and feel like my stomach is stretching at the sides which is very painful too...anyone else experiencing this? Its worrying

wigglesrock · 22/11/2010 20:04

Angels where I live the parent and baby car-parking spaces aren't any closer to the shops just wider spaces!! Which I definitely need at the minute, don't panic about bringing it up - don't get me started on bloody 4x4 juggernauts on the school run Angry

Ledkr Mr Wiggles gets 5 days off at full pay and was offered another 5 days at paternity pay (which we're not taking) He's not got much annual leave left although he does get a ridiculous amount of extra hours off for working bank holidays etc so we're having a quiet New Years Smile

Thanks wandering for starting new thread. Mr Wiggles is watching University Challenge so off to internet shop Grin

ZeroMinusZero · 22/11/2010 20:12

Hey all, off to Sainburys in a bit to stock up on stuff :)

Also the bank has already refunded our £2000 back which was pretty quick of them, and we don't seem to have incurred any interest or anything, so it's all good. Hurrah!

WanderingSheep · 22/11/2010 20:18

Hello! Smile

Didn't get chance to give a proper post before - well I did but it wouldn't post for some reason and then it got lost !

Jdmummy, welcome and congratulations! Hope you're still with us, of course you're very welcome to post here, the ladies here are very lovely and supportive and I think there are a few of us due end of Jan. The babies due beginning of Feb may well be arriving in January anyway Smile. I'm due at the end of feb so may well end up giving birth in March (better bloody not!) although I haven't posted on the March thread as I like it here Smile.

Re: P&T parking spaces - I personally see no problem with pregnant women using them. You are with child afterall Wink. DH and I obviously use them because we have DD and we need space to get her out of the carseat etc. I think a pregnant woman (when they are bigger) needs space to get out of the car, is carrying a lot of extra weight, may not be able to walk very far etc. As for disabled spaces...not really sure. It can be really difficult to say. I have a friend whose SPD was soooo bad she had to move in with her mum to get help with her DS while her DH was at work. She could hardly go to the toilet and she couldn't walk or drive. I think it should be ok for someone like that to use them and for the ladies on here who have SPD/are in a lot of pain/are starting to get breathless. However, I think that once they start giving permission for pregnant women to use them in extreme circumstances, they might start getting abused by other pregnant women ie. Ones that are having easy pregnancies.

I am starting to feel very festive! I can't wait to get our decorations up!

DH is very busy ATM turning on Christmas lights for his job. He switched some on with Simon Webb from Blue on Thursday!

Nasty, horrible DH has been to Morrison's and brought home a load of booze for Christmas. It was "spend £50 and get Toy Story 3 on DVD for £5" so he got that for DD for Christmas and then came home waving mint Baileys under my nose Angry .

debka · 22/11/2010 21:22

Lansinoh is DEFINITELY worth the money, angels (I think it was you who asked...), I put it on without fail every night after I had DD and had no Nipple Issues whatsoever, and bfed her till 13mo. And a little goes a long way too.

Re parking spaces, I get cross with people who park in parent and child spaces when they don't have a child, but would definitely NOT mind a pregnant woman parking there. However, my Sainsbury's says there is a FINE if you get caught parking there without a child???!!

WanderingSheep · 22/11/2010 21:41

Which nipple cream is it that is good for lips? Confused they say it's good for dry lips and plumps them up a bit!

ZeroMinusZero · 22/11/2010 21:53

Got back from Sains. Only got one set of wipes and one bag of cotton wool balls and am already regretting not buying more. Darn.

angels1 · 23/11/2010 07:33

wandering I'm now wondering whether your DH is a celeb/local VIP or someone who sets up christmas lighting to account for him turning on christmas lights (???) Hmm

I'm looking forward to getting out of bed and measuring for TPT this morning as I'm sure this week I've grown Grin

With all this cold weather on the horizon I'm mighty glad I've got a maternity coat

WanderingSheep · 23/11/2010 09:29

Morning!

OMG! Crap nights sleep and then DD came in this morning at 5.30 Shock and while I was asleep got into bed behind me, wrapped her COLD hands around me and said, "I love you mummy!" giving me kisses! She's so cute but she could have waited until later!

Angels, LOL my DH is Robert Pattinson an electrician. He's been putting up the lights and he switches them on but the celeb gets the credit! Hope I've not ruined it for anyone!

Well, just got back from hospital having had GTT done, what a disgusting way to start the day, I was so pleased with myself that I didn't vomit after drinking that glucose solution!!! Not the taste that is really bad but far far far too much sugar at that time of the morning and on an empty stomach! Anyway - I Passed!!! Yey me! I think they should do the test by asking you to eat chocolate fudge cake and then test your blood 2 hours later personally, but hey ho I guess this is the scientific way of doing things!Grin

WanderingSheep · 23/11/2010 11:45

Glad you passed Jack! I don't have to do the GTT (dunno why) they've not offered me one but, hell if they made you eat chocolate fudgecake I'd be begging to do it! Grin

EauRouge · 23/11/2010 12:24

That's great news Jack :)

I had such a vivid dream about the labour last night, even what time the baby arrived (8.30 in the evening). It was a boy and I got really angry with DH because he decided that he hated the name he suggested and talked me into that I now love. I will be sure to double-check when he gets home from his business trip tonight Grin

geekygiraffe · 23/11/2010 12:26

Hello, just checking in! Off to Sainsbury's for some cream - will park in a Parent space and see what happens ; 0
Last night I only woke up once, so feel vaguely alive.
Hope all you other turkeys have a good day X

byronicheroine · 23/11/2010 13:33

Hello all, new thread already! Love it.
linz I'm feeling exactly the same, and got one of those huge exercise balls (idea off this thread!!) which helps. the best thing, tho, is leaning with your hands on your knees and 'rolling' your back up and down, while steady breathing. It helps stretch everything out and puts your organs back where they should be (more or less).
Sorry to gloat but I really have to tell you all that i'm off on my pre-baby mini-break on friday. We're going to Madrid and I'm really looking forward to it, although I still have a... cough... few.... things to pack (and wash and dry!). Don't you find that packing always extends to fill the time you have? So if you have a week, it takes a week, and if you have 10 minutes... you get it done!
Hope so, anyway! :)

PDR · 23/11/2010 13:51

Hello everyone!

I've had an eventful morning! Woke up at 3.15am having period type pains and feeling like I might have diarreah (sp?) and it continued until 9am when DH insisted I call the doctor (in his native country you would call a doctor for a cold lol) so I did and he told me to ring the labour ward Hmm So I did. And they told me to come straight in!

I am fine anyway and the baby is fine. I was monitored for a couple of hours, saw my consultant who checked my cervix and that my waters were all intact. They took a blood test, swabs from my cervix and a urine sample all to look for infection I think. They will ring me if there is anything wrong.

So now I am resting at home (as per usual), DH has gone off to work and my Mother is here "looking after" DS.

Hospital were fab though - can't help thinking it was all a bit OTT! Am now very relaxed about giving birth there :)

wigglesrock · 23/11/2010 13:57

PDR hope you start to feel better. Mr Wiggles has had a desperate case of the runs (not going to attempt diarr.....) Smile since yesterday afternoon. He looks like death as well. Although he may be milking it a bit!

PDR · 23/11/2010 14:01

My consultant was quite funny - he looked at the trace test paper thingy and said "Well, I don't think you're in labour" and I was like "No, neither do I" Grin

Highlandgirl · 23/11/2010 14:39

I look like i've eaten a turkey...!

newdad75 · 23/11/2010 17:14

Hi All - have been a member of this and all the preceding threads for a long time now (though in fairness more a lurker since the early days than an active participant).

I just had a quick question for you all - since last night the baby has been extremely active with lots of movement, pushing and kicking. Now as a rugby playing dad-to-be, this could be a great sign of things to come, but I just wanted to know if anyone else was feeling this at this stage as well. (We are just over 30 weeks by the way).

Would really appreciate any feedback, thanks...
