knitta you look great, very neat bump!

Here's a link to Penelope, I think she looks amazing but then I'm a bit of a fan of hers.

Tried to upload a pic of my bump but it's too big (yes, the pic as well as my tummy Blush). Will try again later...

Just been food shopping and it wasn't too bad but the naughty choccie aisles were almost empty, suppose that's good in a way as it means I won't be stuffing my face too much!

Had to get some cream for thrush as there's no way I can cope with it any longer, tried home remedies and they just don't do anything and with my piles playing up at the same time it's a wonder I can sit down at all.

Anyway, I hope you're all ready or nearly ready for tomorrow. I 'm going to my parents' and having everything done for me.. hee hee!!! It'll be the first year since I left home that I haven't been the host and worried I'll get a bit bored not being allowed in the kitchen but sure I'll manage! Wink

40Weeks · 24/12/2010 13:33

What a lovely bump Knitta

Have just picked the kids up from their last ever day at nursery, weep weep. I used the time to pop to the shops and then listen to Christmas music ful volume while having a hot bath, washing hair etc and then doing a touch of housework. I even managed to paint my toenails! They look shit but am so far away from them I dont care too much.

When at the shops I also rectified the chocolate situation in the 40weeks household! Phew.

Hope your back eases up Angels you poor thing.

Have a super Christmas lovely ladies, I hope 2011 brings all that you wish for, including our fabulous little bundles of joy. Not long now!

Merry Christmas Xmas Smile

NeedToSleepZZZ · 24/12/2010 13:42

Have managed to upload pic now, might be regretting that....

angels So sorry about your back, sounds very painful. I swear by heat patches if you have any, hot water bottles are hard to keep in place.

40 you sound all glammed up, and now you have chocolate too, perfect! My toenails are about the same as yours, I painted them from afar and they look just fine from my angle and that's all that matters Grin

40Weeks · 24/12/2010 13:52

No you look fab NeedtoSleep x

PolkaDotRudolf · 24/12/2010 14:00

NeedtoSleep very neat bump! :)

snowangels1 · 24/12/2010 14:26

Nice to see bumps developing so nicely :) Penelope Cruz looks far too glam - tis not fair Envy

We've just been given a BIG tin of celebrations for christmas from my neighbour - mmmm, don't think they'll last long in this house!

PinkElephant73 · 24/12/2010 15:31

Hope everyone is having a lovely Xmas eve and loving the bump pix - need to get oh to take one of me, as I have virtually no pix from my other 2 pregnancies.

I am feeling a bit left out atm, as we are in snowy Wales which is lovely, but everyone has gone out for a bracing long hill walk with the sledges - and I have stayed in with the laptop. should be enjoying the rest but just feel a bit bored and fed up!

americanexpat · 24/12/2010 15:39

NeedToSleep - you look fab but maybe I'm only saying that because I look very similar. Xmas Grin

After my flu jab yesterday, I'm feeling quite rough today. Sore throat and cough kept me awake last night and it seems to be getting worse today. I think these are normal side effects? Poor DH has been listening to me moan about how shit I feel, even offered to go to the pharmacy for me. I hope it doesn't last through Christmas and Boxing Day.

PolkaDotRudolf · 24/12/2010 16:10

americanexpat I may be wrong but I don't think the flu vaccine is "live" so maybe you are just coming down with something (sorry) fingers crossed it will pass very quickly!

My ham is finally cooked :) Just preparing some veg now so we can get cracking as soon as DH walks through the door

americanexpat · 24/12/2010 16:23

No, it's not live but I thought the symptoms were a normal immune response to the dead virus? I considered that it could be something else I picked up, especially after 2 visits to the doctor's surgery yesterday. See what happens when I leave the sofa?

PolkaDotRudolf · 24/12/2010 17:30

ae The NHS site just says that you might get a reaction such as temperature or aching muscles for a couple of days afterwards and that your arm may feel sore... Sooo many bugs going around at the minute though and 2 surgery visits might have done it! But then at least you've had the jab now so if it is a flu strain that you've caught hopefully it will only be mild :)

I am actually rethinking my GPs advice NOT to have to jab... Will see if they have any left after Christmas. Seeing my son so ill with the flu I don't think I'd cope if I got that ill myself!

wigglesrock · 24/12/2010 18:16

Merry Christmas all, hope you all have a lovely day tomorrow. Am now trying to persuade girls that Santa will be here even quicker if they go to bed nice and early Xmas Grin.

snowangels1 · 24/12/2010 18:40

Probably my last check in for the next day or so and just wanted to say happy christmas to all. Hope those with excitable little ones don't get woken up too early and everyone has a good time (and not do too much hard work in the kitchen). Right, I'm off for a relaxing bath and then a night of festive TV Xmas Grin.

snowangels1 · 24/12/2010 18:42

Oh, and re: feeling rough after the flu jab there's a thread on this in the pg forum, would do a link but the bath is calling me so hopefully you can find it easily enough.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 24/12/2010 19:01

Sorry you're feeling so poorly ae, hope you manage to get a good night's sleep tonight and feel a bit better tomorrow.

angels that's my plan for later on, enjoy it (maybe take the choccies into the bathroom with you?! Hope you have a wonderful christmas x

Thank you for your lovely comments Smile.

tadventjennyp · 24/12/2010 20:36

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas. Tis only lunchtime here and still so much to do, but sitting down as hips are so sore after shopping. Merry Christmas! Xmas Grin

debka · 24/12/2010 21:29

Happy Christmas everyone Xmas Grin

PinkiePoo · 25/12/2010 05:37

HAPPY CHRISTMAS MUMSNETTERS Xmas Grin

I am awake early because I have been booted out of bed, literally, by the little lady inside me, maybe she is excited too!!

So downstairs watching Muppets Christmas Carol...feel like a 10 yr old again, its great!

Few more hours of peace and quiet then off to the parents for a very big and manic day with the family.

Anyone watch 'One born every Christmas'? Scared myself a little, but seeing their babas in their arms, was incredible and of course I sobbed like a baby, much to DP's amusement. Plus it is in the hospital i will be in too, very surreal.

Enjoy your day ladies, and remember we have every excuse today to indulge today - bar the alcohol Sad. EAT AND BE MERRY!!

jackfrost · 25/12/2010 06:28

Have I got a story for you.... 'twas the night before the night before Christmas and all round the house the only thing that stirred was me up every 15 minutes to go to the loo!!!

Feeling very sorry for myself having had flu jab and starting to feel rough had an early night, couldn't sleep because I was up so much so thought I'd try the sofa for a bit, was sick everywhere so had shower and tried bed again.

By 4 am I was getting a bit worried at the amount of blood I was passing from uti so spoke to DH and he told me to call hospital to check if it's normal. Phoned up asking advice and also mentioning I had wet myself a little! They told me to come in and they would have a little look.

Got to hospital just before 5, they tried hooking up monitors for heart beats etc and then doc came in and asked to do a quick internal exam. I wasn't allowed paracetamol as I had only had it a few hours before.

He did exam, looked up and told me I was fully dilated and first baby would be here within the hour!!!

Lucy was born at 06:52 weighing 3lb something and Katie was born at 07:15 weighing 5lb something! Both will be in SCBU for next 3 weeks or so and can't come home for next 4-7 weeks. Both have had a few problems but are doing really well!

Hopefully we might get to hold them for a bit today!!!

Anyway, probably crash server with this post but to all, a very merry Christmas!!!

Ps - I don't have a uti!!!

He did this and looked at me told me I was fully dilated

NeedToSleepZZZ · 25/12/2010 07:22

Oh jack, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! [SMILE] [SMILE] [SMILE]

Sitting in bed crying, that's so amazing and really good to hear little Lucy and Katie are doing well. Must be frustrating not to hold them yet but they'll be home before you know it.

Well done you, can't believe you must have been labouring without knowing it, you are a star! Have a very special christmas day, WOW!!! x

tadventjennyp · 25/12/2010 07:29

So many congratulations Jack - well done you! Welcome Lucy and Katie! Our first thread babies and on Christmas Day too! That's such amazing news! Hope you get to have a cuddle later. Xmas Smile

PolkaDotRudolf · 25/12/2010 08:29

jack just a quick post but I'll come back later! Many congratulations!!!!!!!!! So very happy for you! What a lovely Christmas present! Hope both girls doing well xxx

americanexpat · 25/12/2010 08:35

Congratulations, jack! I was wondering when the first Feb babies would make an appearance. I hope you get to hold your babies soon and that they make fab progress in SCBU.

Grannyapple · 25/12/2010 09:01

Omg-huge congrats jack!!!! I literally leapt out of bed when I read this & ran downstairs to tell Hubby ( like he knows u, lol?!).

Anyway a few tears of happiness have been shed for u-can't believe it. Hope u get to have lots of cuddles soon!

snowangels1 · 25/12/2010 09:09

ahhhh, jack that news has made my christmas very Grin. I can't believe you were fully dilated and didn't realise you were in labour - do you have an exceptionally strong pain threshold?! Feels scary that our first babies are here but very very exciting too. I hope you're fairing well this morning and get to hold little Lucy and Katie today. What a fesive treat :)

I watched a little bit of 'one born every minute' but scared myself a bit watching it so made myself turn it off. I did, however, love Barbaba the mw - I want one like her when I'm in labour! Have recorded it though and will get DH to watch it.

Does anyone remember my story of DH using his own initiative for getting my christmas gifts in the past? (2 odd hats and a very un glam nightie with cats on (don't like cats))? Well, he stuck to the list but was very excited to have used his initiative to get me something of his own thoughts - I was actually quite excited about it as he's been building up this gift for a few days. Turns out to be the new novel by Dawn French Hmm. Feel a bit Confused as to where that thought came from - I'll read it (and may really enjoy it)and appreciate that he went to thought and trouble but it seems really random to me (especially since he's bigged it up as such a good, thoughtful gift). Anyone else get any unusual christmas gifts?
