Debka, not sure if wee times do become feeding times, this is just what I'm told by several people!
My DH had flu a few weeks ago and I was also regretting not getting flu jab, but it has all gone now and I managed to escape it! DH also made dinner last night, we went to in laws Sunday so I didn't go shopping so had very little in, he did sausage, chips and beans -the beans were ok! Not sure if it was just that I was feeling a bit rough yesterday or because he cooked it all in same pan so chips were horribly greasy and made me feel sick! Didn't say anything or he would never do it again!Wink

EauRudolph · 14/12/2010 12:08

Hi Perky, I've got an October 2008 DD as well and we're due on the same day Grin

I've been thinking again about getting my flu jab, I'm a long way from N Ireland but after what has happened there it's made me think twice Confused Has anyone had it?

snowangels1 · 14/12/2010 12:35

Hey perky

Am in respect of needto for getting her OH to do that 'massaging'. I'm too Blush to ask DH. Guess I have to get over that for labour - I'm getting worried about all the embarassing things you do in labour (like pooing yourself) so have been making sure DH is aware of all these things beforehand so he's not too Shock at the time. He seems to think water birth might be a nice idea, but when I told him I was worried about the poo in the water he was a bit Hmm Shock Confused. He hasn't mentioned water births since!

Hope all the ill folk feel better quickly. My sympathies with you. I had a coldy fevery bug a couple of weeks ago and still coughing alot (not a good thing to do with a full bladder btw). I just keep fingers crossed I now will be bug free for at least a while.

SPeaking of flu jabs - has everyone even been offered it? I read NHS were suppose to offer it to all pg women this winter but no ones offered it to me. If I were offered it, think I'd have it, but have been waiting to make that choice when it gets offered.

Really sorr

snowangels1 · 14/12/2010 12:37

Hmm. Don't know where that 'really sorr' came from at the end. I don't remember typing that at all. Maybe the madness is setting in Xmas Grin

SantaIsMyLoveSlave · 14/12/2010 12:45

ledkr, have you tried sleeping with a folded-over pillow between your knees (so that you are sort of propping up the upper thigh of the leg on top and keeping it straight rather than letting it slump down)?

angels, I think you are being "offered" it via the medium of the posters (probably) up in your GP's surgery listing the groups recommended to get a flu jab and telling you where and when to turn up if you fall into one of those groups and want it, rather than by them contacting every member of each of those groups directly.

ElleB, are you getting swelling in your ankles? That could account for it. Or is there a rash -- could be the start of PUPPS if so. I don't think obstetric cholestasis tends to start in the ankles.

perkypopsy · 14/12/2010 12:55

Sounds like everyone has had flu - wish I'd thought of looking for you here last week when I was laid up in bed feeling sorry for myself... instead I was just howling "nobody knows how shit I feeeeeeel" - neighbours have been giving me strange looks ever since Blush

EauRudolph OOh so nice to know someone else is struggling with carrying a hefty 2 year old with opinions on absolutely everything and a constant need for wee when potty is so far down on ground I sometimes just sit on the floor holding it rather than bothering to stand up again (SO unfit!)

EllieB I have had really itchy skin and when I told the midwife she said only worry if is on palms and soles of feet so...within 24hours my feet and hands have been itching...am sure is just in my head - but seriously if it does get bad then it could be a sign that your liver is struggling (I have decided to ignore it as I have so many "worrying" symptoms I should be in hozzy by now! Wink

Is anyone suffering from any of thses things:
(TMI) dark wee? Mine can be almost brown even though am drinking loads of water
Dry eyes and mouth - particularly at night
Night sweats (my cheeks start getting hot in the evening and then when I'm in bed I wake up drenched (YUCK)?

Some of these things might just be left over from flu though ahem Blush

snowangels1 · 14/12/2010 13:02

Really prof? Is that how I'm being offered the flu jab? That's a bit rubbish as I have my mw appointments at special unit at hospital not GP surgery, and, believe me, there are no flu jab posters up at mws (I have to wait long enough for my appoointments that I read all posters several times!). I'm with same GP as DH and he's astmatic and he got a letter through the post from GP months ago to summon him to his jab.

ellie I get itchy skin on my bump and boobs - I'm forever itching! I assume in my case it's just skin stretching and do slather on the bio oil. Not sure about itching in other areas though...

perky I get dry eyes on and off but have read this is just usual hormone stuff. I've also had dry mouth but have put that down to my cold Hmm. My wee is often quite cloudy, has been throughout pg.

SantaIsMyLoveSlave · 14/12/2010 13:08

I think so -- at least, that's (AFAIK) how the other eligible groups get offered it each year, and all that's changed this year is that pregnant women have been added to the list. I've not been into our GP surgery for months (would normally have had shared care but am under consultant care this time so all appointments are at the hospital) but I imagine it's plastered in flu jab posters as it has been every other winter. You could give them a call and ask?

snowangels1 · 14/12/2010 13:11

Yes prof I might ask when I next see mw on fri as had assumed it's something they would ask me/mention if I wanted [should have known better at NHS emoticon]. Not sure how I'd know it was available to me otherwise (except for my keen googling and mning). My mw hospital unit is tiny and is seperate to the main hospital so maybe they stick posters all over the main building but not in the one area the pg women go to!!

PDR · 14/12/2010 13:16

Just back from physio and my pelvis is really twisted apparently Hmm I had said I'd felt a bit better this week but they said my movement was very limited indeed which I guess is true. Hopefully will significantly improve as the baby starts to engage.

perky and eau I have a DS born in June 2008 so not too far off you guys! It is a major mission lugging him about and since he's been sick he seems to have lost the use of his legs Hmm.

DH's temp is now back to normal although he is still in bed watching Top Gear Hmm DS is also doing laps of the playroom so I think he's feeling better too though not sure if temp might return this evening like yday....

The nursery have their Christmas Sing-a-Long tomorrow afternoon with mulled wine and mince pies and DH had taken the day off especially but doubt we'll be going now :(

Still need to go to shops and get supplies....

PDR · 14/12/2010 13:20

Re: Flu jab - my GP spoke to me about it when I went to see him about SPD. My Mum is classed as "high risk" and was sent a letter with the times of the drop-in clinic (different surgery). Noone has mentioned DS but not sure if they are still offering it routinely to children under 5?

perkypopsy · 14/12/2010 13:35

Thanks snowangels1 good to know am not only one falling apart at seams Wink

I asked mw about flu jab and she was non-committal - she said you can have one if you like but she wasn't going to recommend it?? She is like a character off French and Saunders though with a hairy chin and knitted cardi and I never listen to anything she says...

WanderingInAWinterWonderland · 14/12/2010 13:56

Hi everyone!

Sorry there are so many bugs etc going around! Xmas Sad

We've not been too bad here except for colds and coughs and sore throats! Been guzzling down honey, lemon and hot water like there's no tomorrow whilst DH can have strepsils Xmas Angry. Been suffering badly with heartburn too, it's causing me to get reflux. Bleurgh! Going to ask for a prescription tomorrow at Mw appt as Gaviscon is so expensive and I'm going through it so quickly!

It's driving me mad having to help DD at the toilet! We only have one toilet upstairs and it's bad enough having to lug myself up there but because of DD it feels like I'm going twice as often! Grrr, she can do it herself but will tantrum until I go to help her! Anything for a quiet life Xmas Hmm.

Moan, moan, moan, moan...sorry Xmas Grin

WanderingInAWinterWonderland · 14/12/2010 13:59

Welcome PerkyPopsy! Xmas Smile

Has everyone given up doing TPT? Xmas Grin I haven't done it for a while - I'd probably need a whole roll!

perkypopsy · 14/12/2010 14:32

Hi WWW what's TPT? Am wondering how skinny drug-addled aristo links to toilet roll Xmas Wink
need a more festive name....back in a mo

PlumPuddingPopsy · 14/12/2010 14:39

I'm back and feeling all Christmassy yay
Xmas GrinXmas GrinXmas Grin
p.s. just remembering how little work I got done last time I was addicted to MN oops Xmas Blush

PolkaDotRudolf · 14/12/2010 15:41

I am Christmassy too (if it works) (fgrin)!!!

So what has everyone still got to buy?

I have got most things but want one of those nursing pillows and some spare covers. I think I might take it with me to hospital as the pillows are always plastic wrapped and not fluffy in the slightest!

I have a second hand double buggy and splashed out on a new single which will be delivered in January. Figured DS will be at nursery 5 mornings a week so will use single when out and about with baby in the mornings. (Confession I am a shopaholic and this is my warped reasoning - I know it probably does not make sense!)

Have got new car seat and base too as I gave DS's stage 0 one to a colleague who had £0 and was going to get one out the paper.

Got moses basket and borrowing rocking stand from friend... then once that's too small DS's cot is already set up (full of stuff to be washed) in the nursery.

Hmm... what else... maybe someone else might post something to inspire me!

WanderingInAWinterWonderland · 14/12/2010 16:00

Posy, TPT is "toilet paper Tuesday" where we measure our bumps with toilet paper to see how many sheets we measure! All very very scientific!

I'm liking the festive names! Oh I'm so excited for Christmas Xmas Grin [big kid]!

Ok, what have we bought for baby? Hmm, we've got a new pram, steriliser, bottles, we're using DD's old Moses basket and cot and changing table. We're using DD's old carseat. Do we need anything else? I can't remember, I've been so unorganised this time! Xmas Blush I think I'm in denial that I'm actually going to be having a baby soon! I have to add that all this stuff is still in the loft - we still need to check that it's all ok and usable (I hope so otherwise we're buggered!)

Oh, we need new matresses for the cot and Moses basket and I guess we'll need to stock up on nappies and wipes etc!

knittamerrykid · 14/12/2010 17:09

So sorry to those feeling bad, I finally shifted the cold.

Have right now amazon open to buy some terry nappies, but am too scared to click buy, don't know why! and we have absolutely nothing else, only knitted hats and mittens!!

Trying to convince Dh that a Didymos sling is the only way to go, but we'll see, might spend some of the HIP grant on it.

americanexpat · 14/12/2010 18:02

I've not been offered a flu jab and I'm in Scotland. I've not even seen any posters in the GP surgery and the midwife hasn't mentioned it.

Seeing what everyone else has already bought is making me feel very unprepared! We have a pram, a few clothes and I've made some hats. Supposedly one of DH's colleagues has a car seat for us - must get him to chase that up soon. We are moving quite soon and will buy a cot when we've finished. I walked down the nappy aisle in Tesco last week and felt really overwhelmed. Am I supposed to guess how much the baby will weigh and buy the appropriate size?

PolkaDotRudolf · 14/12/2010 18:29

Ladies if anyone is looking for super comfy yet still-presentable-outside-the-house trousers these from M&S are fab! (I don't work for M&S!) link

americanexpat IME all newborn babies use the newborn 1 size nappy but if they are on the big size they may move onto number 2 size quite soon so don't bulk buy number 1 IYSWIM! I know a 5 month old baby who wears size 4+ nappies which is what my 2.5 YEAR old DS wears Shock!!!!!!!!!!!!! Asda do the best offers on nappies as they sell the jumbo sized boxes of Pampers/Huggies. I don't actually shop there but I do a delivery of nappies and beer every now and again when they are on offer! Delivery man must think I am mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grin

tadventjennyp · 14/12/2010 18:38

Yes you need to guess what weight! I realised I'd bought a newborn outfit that went up to 8lbs and ds was 8lb9oz so I guess I may not get a lot of wear out of that!

I also feel like I'm getting piles and dh says he gets them every time I'm pregnant! Xmas Grin That made me chortle!

WanderingInAWinterWonderland · 14/12/2010 18:52

A 5 month old in 4+ nappies?! Xmas Shock that's what DD was in just before she started potty training (2.5) although saying that - my friend has a friend whose DS was 13lbs at birth Xmas Shock [eyes watering emoticon] I think DD was that at about 10 weeks old!

knittamerrykid · 14/12/2010 18:56

Xmas Grin lol at tad's dh...
one question, TMI X rated alert: DH has said that he just does not fancy me with a big belly with his son inside, and pretty much said we'll not see any action until we are back to normal (wishful thinking??) anyway, I really miss our intimacy (not just the actual deed, but also being wanted iyswim), would it be wrong of me to demand it? how can i force him if he just does not want it? I find myself becoming increasingly short-tempered with him and I know it's because of this; he is very supportive in every other way possible and I have no other complaint, or none that matters anyway...

PolkaDotRudolf · 14/12/2010 18:59

Yes wandering I was Shock too but it worked out quite well as I was caught short without a nappy - never thought in a million years this friend would have one big enough! The baby is pretty huge though and my DS (and your DD too) is quite small bottomed!
