i thought i was quite broad minded but am stuck as to fruit and veg.... Confused I tihnk I might try the exercise ball idea next time as I can see why that would work! Grin

fridge magnets in bed didn't work unfortunately but am getting some bananas this pm so will give them a go (that comment is in no way linked to the first one Wink)

Just got back from new mw, she seems really nice and cheerful. I was so relieved when she measured FH and said I'm spot on now but got home and looked at my notes and she's written 3/5ths. She said the reason I'm getting so many strong BHs is because he's dropped down really low, does this mean 3/5ths engaged?!!! If so, is this normal for first baby at 31 weeks? I'm such a worrier and know that if it were something to be concerned about she would have said but just a bit Shock

My bp has risen up to 102/63 which is good, was as low as 80/53 at one point. Sorry for those with high bps, I'm sure it's fine as long as you don't have any other symptoms. When do you have to report back angels? bp goes up and down a lot in my experience and I know you find visiting medical places anxiety making so could be related to that?

On to more pressing worries, who is your favourite to win x factor tomorrow night? OH and I are having a mini x factor party (basically putting on pjs really early and getting lots of junk food to munch on), we truly are that sad Blush

Can't believe you only have 4 weeks to wait cler, so exciting!

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 10/12/2010 15:11

needto sleepit was bananas and cucumbers-ouch!You are very clever to work out the exercise ball,do you throw it at dh to stop him coming near you?
Hi Cler 4 wks eh?wow!
Angels poor you, mine is always too low so have no wisdom to pass on,was it a stressfull mw visit co that can bring it on.
Dont much care for spooning tbh might just give up now :(
3/5ths means it is engaging yes,i think they engage early with the first too,but that is early.Dont worry tho ds2 was 13 wks early and hadnt engaged at all so could mean nothing.
I am getting a bit worried now largely due to reading something on mn that i wont pass on,it seems that you get this far and dont want anything to go wrong now,i am even thinking twice about going to in laws boxing day in case we meet a drunk driver or icy patch on the way.

snowangels1 · 10/12/2010 15:23

I'm still feeling a bit in the dark about the ball idea I have to admit Xmas Hmm although trying to throw it at DH did make me laugh.

I'm hoping my high bp could be due to that I had to have blood test today and I have really bad veins and I had a newly qualified midwife doing my appointment. Suprisingly she got blood quickly first time (phew) which was much better than the bad job the other mw did at my booking in where I nearly fainted. So think I was quite anxious about that, hopefully that's all there is to it.

Just had bathroom shop man to my new house we are moving to in a few weeks to check out if they can do us a lovely new seperate shower for the existing bathroom (which has a big victorian roll top bath in it - looking forward to long soaks in it but not sure I'll ever heave my big bump out without much struggling) and fingers crossed they may be able to do it in jan. Will just have to keep chucking them out of the bathroom every half hour so I can go to the loo Blush

giraffeshatewinter · 10/12/2010 15:31

the ball works ; 0 Mind boggles at fruit and veg - you don't stick it in, do you?!?!?
Glad to hear your BP is rising zzz, I've got low BP too - the midwife keeps asking 'Are you sure you don't keep fainting?', as if I wouldn't notice!!
Want an x-factor PJ party too, but instead will be at DH's fancy work party in london. At least it's a mini-holiday, and all free. but I just can't be bothered with anything. Shock Will have to get glad rags on for first time in months, but think will enjoy it when I'm there.
Thought baby had been quiet today so have just had some sugary tea and liquorice allsorts - they did the trick and s/he's dancing now Grin. Still think it's time for a lie-down though Wink.

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 10/12/2010 15:36

I cant get out of the bath very easily at all now,it is a corner bath tho so cant grip each side to heav my massive bulk up,maybe the ball will help with that? I will probably need to have a hand from dh next time.
Had a resentfull moment in homebase earlier when purchasing some locks for my bathroom doors. When you have stitches they like you to bath often and also going to the loo can be difficult so you have to sit in there for ages with a book taking it gently,i am so looking forward to fil hovering around outside with his bladder problems! My en suite is up 2 flights of stairs so i expect ill have to go up there, intrusive bastards!! haha

NeedToSleepZZZ · 10/12/2010 15:38

ledkr, love the idea of throwing the ball! bless OH, he's been so patient, we've only had sex twice throughout the pregnancy and he never mentions it, other than trying to make me feel better about my appearance.

BANANAS AND CUCUMBERS??? Do people know there are, ahem, battery operated objects more specifically designed? Sorry, don't know what's got into me today, will calm down now Wink

Thank you for the info re engagemant, just been googling and it seems quite a few women have this, but will be packing emergency hospital bag over the weekend to be safe. Really want to keep him in there as long as possible though as really want my HB.

angels it's not long till your move which is another reason for for high bp, please try to rest if possible. The roll top bath sounds beautiful but I agree about maneuvering yourself in and out being a problem, I'm a little worried about my bath now and it's just a bog standard one. Separate shower is definitely the way to go! How long do you think the move will take in all?

How's the gaviscon advanced? Is it still easing things? Really hope you're getting some respite from it. Smile

snowangels1 · 10/12/2010 16:22

Gaviscon advanced is strong stuff needto Grin so far takes the worst off .

Who knows how long moving will take as it depends on how much energy DH has to pack and move everything (physio has banned me from anything moving related - even packing). I'm thinking it could take a few days just to move everything.

Just got a call from my mw re: my ante natal classes as they got mucked up due to snow. I have 2 options and not sure what to do - anyone got any advice? Options are:
-go to a class on monday on my own which covers labour and post natal in a whistle stop way (they are condensing 2 courses into 1)
-wait until late jan (I'm due feb 21st) and do next course and have DH with me

Mw seems to think leaving it till late jan is too late and is encouraging me to go on mon, but DH can't really take more time off work (self employed and lost a weeks money last week due to snow). I think mw is just trying to get me to go on monday as it works better for them that way. Hmm

X factor wise sadly my money is on one erection to win, but I hope Rebecca wins. I'm wondering which celeb guests they bring in to do duets this year.

wigglesrock · 10/12/2010 17:34

snowangels re X factor:
Robbie Williams with One Errection, WillIam with Cher the gurner, Christina Aguilera with Rebecca and Rhianna with Matt the Comfy, as you can tell I've been very busy with work over the past few days!!!

Have had a really bad couple of days with vomiting and to be honest the dds are testing the patience, think the realisation of Christmas may have hit and they are really bouncing off the walls excited.

Not much of a goer on the old marital relations, baby keeps moving, kicking at inopportune moments and its quite off putting Grin

knittamerrykid · 10/12/2010 17:47

sooo Xmas Envy at those of you still going at it with their DHs/ps. I was told quite straightforwardly not to expect much since he finds it so disturbing with the little alien reennactment in between...

wriggles poor you, can't really imagine how you do it with little ones!

Difficult decision angels, I'd be tempted to wait, specially since first babies are usually late anyway.

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 10/12/2010 18:14

angels id wait too.fwiw.
I am still not 100% convinced that dh hasnt gone off the whole thing/me trouble is my ahem drive has not decreased once maybe it that being my 5th i know there will be a drought afterwards.Wasnt so bothered with previous pgs but then i was with him for 18yrs so things had naturally "declined" and my dh is soooo goergeous even if he is annoying and comes with clingy parents haha

PDR · 10/12/2010 19:24

angels I'm not starting my NCT classes until 5th Jan and they run until 16th Feb (I'm due on 18th) but the class this side of Xmas was full so they said it would be fine.

Anyone up to anything interesting this weekend? We have friends coming to stay tomorrow and I'm doing a "Christmas Lunch" on Sunday for us all Grin Going to M&S it though as not slaving in the kitchen all morning!!!!!

Have now got all Xmas decs up and the house is looking most festive :) DS is even warming to the tree - he won't touch it but he will say "hello" and "byebye" to it Hmm

JustOneMorePlease · 10/12/2010 19:46

angels take care of your bp. No advice as like some of the others mine has been low, in fact I fainted last week which was awful and then spent five mins crying as I felt so awful.

Shame the magnets didn't work I'd leave them there it can't harm and the effect may be cumulative!

Laughs about fruit! My dh always laughs and says I only want it when I want to conceive and then when I want it out at the end! Whispers - and it worked last time three hours from the 'deed' to the birth (sorry tmi!)

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend! Busy one here- swimming lessons tomorrow and a couple of kiddies parties, they have a better social life then I do!

tadventjennyp · 11/12/2010 06:46

Just marking my place again as away from home at the moment. Wouldn't call it a holiday as not in the least bit relaxed, but want to catch up with all the gossip later. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 11/12/2010 12:02

pdr that made me remember my ds1 when he first saw the xmas tree,he was about 2 and took off his red wellies and threw them at it.What a funny memory-hes a soldier now.
Bad breathlessness last night,i got very frightened had to stand outside to get air.I have my 34 wks consultant app at the hospital in the 21st and will kick off if i dont get to spaek to a consultant or at least his sho,i am an old bird with history or prem births and will be having my 4th section and i still havent seen obstetrician for the whole pg,cant be right can it?
We are off to dd school fair it is usually really nice,i hope that she gets lucky on the raffle again like last week and maybe wins our dinner again Grin

PDR · 11/12/2010 16:56

ledkr cannot believe you have not seen a consultant yet! I have seen mine twice (and my probs are minor) and am not aware anyone else except the consultants run the clinics. I am beginning to think my local NHS services are very good although hear plenty of people complain about them Hmm

In other news my HIP money has made its way into my acccount :) I only sent if off 2 weeks ago so that's pretty impressive! Maybe they're making a final effort before they scrap it?

DS seems to have come down with something today - awful cough - high temp and slept 1.20-4pm Shock I fell asleep too otherwise I would have woken him up!!! Hope he goes down ok tonight - might have an extended bedtime of 7.30pm!

debka · 11/12/2010 21:30

I got my HIP money within about 2 weeks as well- was planning to get the Mum To Be package from the new beauty salon nearby- manicure, pedicure and indian head massage, £64, but I think we need a new car seat more. Booo.

Unpleasant new symptom- go to sleep feeling ok, wake up for a wee in the middle of the night with KILLER heartburn. Have to take my liquid yuk which makes me retch. Horrid horrid horrid. Anyone else?

Ledkr I have declined my consultant appointments, do you want mine instead? There's one on Wednesday? Seems stupid that you who really does need to see someone has to fight for an appt, whereas I don't think I need the extra attention and have to tell them to leave me alone!

debka · 11/12/2010 21:31

Anyone else glad Cher has gone??

linz17xxx · 12/12/2010 08:23

Yes debka I suffer from terrible heartburn during the night too, however I had 2 bowls of cereal b4 bed last night and no heartburn for the first time in weeks :)

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 12/12/2010 10:35

thrilled about cher yes, dint like Mats 2 song choices,i think he needs to do a big number such as coldplay or snow patrol to really make his mark.It also occurred to me that Rebecca is a bit of a fraudster as right form the start she showed such individuality and style and she is clearly a stunning girl, does that fit in with the low self esteem,i think not.
Girls can i ask how often you get up to wee? I reckon im up every half an hour as having wee in my bladder seems to hurt my spd, dont know if this is normal but feel sorry for dh as he had a 7 oclock start today.May post on pg.
I get no heart burn with the rinatadine :)
Debka.i wouldnt say ive got loads of probs but i would like to discuss my 4th c section and make sure a very experienced surgeon is doing it-can lead to bladder probs or bleeding etc.I will bw sitting in the ante natal clinic until i do see one, mark my words haha

snowangels1 · 12/12/2010 11:16

Morning,

Yes, pleased Cher went. Did you note the judges comments on her first song implied alot about her being a little madam (except cheryl. I still think one erection will win though and Rebecca second. Matt for me peaked when he sung 'the first time ever I saw your face' and hasn't managed to be quite as good since. Thought Christina Aguilera looked a little bit of a state but prob just me Hmm.

I get heartburn badly at night too debka. Gaviscon advance is the only thing that helps now (and only helps a little). I'm sure you've tried the sleeping on a mountain of pillows??

ledkr I have to say I don't think I've had to get up more than twice in one night for the loo since pg

snowangels1 · 12/12/2010 11:20

oh, and ledkr when you get your consultant appointment through make sure it is a consultant you see - I got given what mw told me would be a consultant appointment and turned out to be that terrible supposed foreign doctor who didn't even know how to use the doppler or anything about why I had to see him (had to ask mw advice with me in there!). Sure you won't have that problem, but since you're worried about it being a late appointment anyway...

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 12/12/2010 11:33

I remember that "dr" angels yes.
I think you should just brave primani as i got my massive hospital pants there for 2 pound a pack of 5 and also some lovley nighties which have washed really well they were 4 quid.Go last thing at night they are open till 6 and seem to be quiet then.
I have also asked for smaller pjs for xmas-am wearing size 18-20 now but although i am not expecting to be slim after the birth, they will fall down so have requested a 16 in stretch material.I am also after a couple of those tops with bulit in support for in hospital so it will be pri for me.

debka · 12/12/2010 13:51

EVERY HALF AN HOUR ledkr??? Every night? You poor woman!! That sounds desperate. I'm up normally once, sometimes twice, but last night not at all! Xmas Smile

No advice re pants angels, I have lots of old pairs I can use!

Tarlia · 12/12/2010 15:43

Hey Ladies, hope you are all having a lovely weekend!

ledkr that sounds a bit much weeing, you must be exhausted you poor thing, is that only during the night? When I had my obs appointment they said they were sending my urine off as there was something in it and they were not sure if it was infection or debries . She explained that pregnancy infections do not always come with burning and can go undetected. May be worth speaking to dr and doing a sample?

angels I got granny knickers from the M&S outlet at Chatham docs, they were £4 or 5 for 5 pairs. I figured that I may wear them for a while after due to scars and bleeding, then will boil and pack then away for baby #2 since this is my first.

Also my antenatal is for 5 weeks starting Jan 6th, I'm due on Feb 25th. I'd go for the later classes so your OH can go. I think the more in the know they are the less scary it'll be and you can discuss labour things so they can help take control on the day.

wigglesrock · 12/12/2010 18:21

Poor you on the weeing Ledkr - I was getting up to go once during the night but has now increased to twice !!!

angels I bought cheap big pants in Tesco today, had to go in anyway to get some more Quality Street fruit and veg Grin I am leaving my hospital bag until mid Jan or so, but can personally recommend Primark for cheap nighties, just go early in the morning, I still have loads of Christmas presents to get and think I'm going to have to head in tomorrow evening.

Getting ready for X-Factor, dd1 usually stays up and watches with me but she's knackered and voluntarily going to bed early Xmas Hmm It bores dd2, she usually is asleep before it starts - she's too indie for it Xmas Grin Very glad Cher is gone, couldn't warm to her at all, was quite disappointed in duets, looking forward to hearing the winners songs, know they are all doing different ones.
