Zero can you not use the pram/pushchair? If you are going on public transport there is usually space for prams.

We went to a wedding recently and my SIL and niece came. My niece was just over 9 weeks and TBH spent most of the time in the carseat when she wasn't having cuddles/being changed/fed. I know it's not good for their back but I think it's what we used to do with DD when we were visiting people, although I suppose she wasn't in it for long periods of time as we were never there all day.

snowangels1 · 09/12/2010 14:02

Hello all,

Pleased to report gaviscon advance helps a bit more than the regular stuff. It tastes disguisting though and leaves the feeling of a coating all down your throat for ages (guess that might be part of how it works) . Will try my best to go with that and speak to GP next week.

Diabetic nurse this morning and I have a new shiny blood sugar monitoring machine of my very own . Have to do it an hour after every meal and have had to set the ticker on the oven incase I forget Xmas Hmm. I'm just wondering now though if I have a big glass of ribena if that will skew my results Xmas Hmm.

Glad to hear good news from pinkie

Hope ledkr your daughter is feeling better soon.

Speaking of nativities, I never got the good role - I was always the inn keeper or shephard number 4 or something. My Mum tells me that when I was 5 I was 'Alice' in the schools Alice in Wonderland, but I have no recollection of this at all (sometimes I wonder if she's making it up to make me feel better), but then mum also says she thinks I only got the part as I had long thick brown hair which looked quite Alice-like Xmas Confused

santaslittleheronine I've got mw tomorrow too and they will take the blood from me Xmas Confused. I think it's just to check iron levels for anemia, but someone else might know if they check anything else while they're there.

I must admit that my pelvic floor are starting to lax too - I've got a cough/cold so have been coughing and sneezing alot and have to be very careful to blow my nose ever so gently when in need of the loo Xmas Blush

JustOneMorePlease · 09/12/2010 14:07

Hi all, sorry I've not been on for ages! Boys have had various days off school with the snow and then when they have been there it is nativity plays, trips to pantos, Christmas parties etc. Am pleased that I'm not due this week or I'd be exhausted.

Loads of the mums at school comment on how big I am getting, but I think it coz I'm wearing every item of clothing that fits to keep warm. Not funny standing in the school playground in freezing conditions when they are late out. Poor dd1 - 14 months looks like an obese tellytubby in her snow suit and coat etc etc. She can't walk when I get her out of the buggy as she has so much on!!!!!!!

Starting to get very excited about new arrival, think I have everything sorted, even if it is just shoved in the babies room. Am still traumatized about ds1 being early and not being ready...... he arrived in the equivalent of 5 weeks time- arrrrrr!!!!!

Am also enjoying the last few weeks of being big and round as this is my last Sad and I know what it is like afterwards with the squidgy soft belly to deal with! At least now we are allowed to be huge! Although kneeling by the bath to bath them all is a challenge, I can hardly reach them!

Secretly pleased that other pelvic floors are rubbish too! nearly had a wet sofa moment when I was laughing like mad at something on Telly last night. Had to roll off and crawl quickly to the loo. Ditto note to self: do the bloody pelvic floors!

If I do my usual trick of letting weeks fly by before I'm back on again all the best for everyone for the last lap till due dates and have a lovely Christmas. Just think next year we'll have little one prob crawling around chewing on the presses and for those of us with older dc's even more chaos fun!!!!

Take care.

wigglesrock · 09/12/2010 14:35

zero if you're happy enough with feeding, don't see a problem leaving baby with your parents, in fact if they're offering I'd bite their hand off accepting Grin I left dd1 with Mr Wiggles for 3 nights when she was 6 months old, to see my sister. We left dd1 and dd2 for 3 nights when dd2 was 3 months old, surprise New York trip!!! Of course you'll probably be in a mad rush to get back to them but that's half the fun Grin

Also Blush at my pelvic floor, has always been quite poor this pregnancy because of the copious amounts of vomiting, but choked on a bit of chilli last night and was almost a tena moment!!!

NeedToSleepZZZ · 09/12/2010 14:39

Hello everyone Smile
Just got in from marathon shopping session and nearly all done for christmas pressies now, I think.....
I bought myself a lovely treat of the biggest, most duvet like, maternity pads from boots. They are HUGE! Hopefully they'll be comfy.

ledkr my local morrisons is always full of morons something about the place just attracts them (not sure what that says about me...)

angels really pleased the gaviscon advanced is working but can't believe you have to wait till next week to see your gp about it!

I also have mw tomorrow, must be a Friday thing as quite a few of us are going. My old mw has retired now so will be with new one, hope she's as good. I have a growth scan next Thurs and consultant and paed appt on same day, will be knackered after all that! Can't wait to see lo again though Smile

It's getting very close now, scary! Can't believe some of us will be giving birth next month, seems like yesterday I was waiting to get a bump, how foolish! Wink

NeedToSleepZZZ · 09/12/2010 14:42

Oh, I meant to ask, I haven't been sleeping more than a few hours a night for ages now and one of the problems (apart from massive belly) is restless leg/ arm thing. I read somewhere that this could be linked to low iron levels, is this right? Also, if anyone has any tips on how to get rid of it I would love to hear, I've tried stretching before bed and pacing around but it just doesn't work. Guess I tempted fate when choosing my mn name Hmm

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 09/12/2010 14:50

zero we too have a wedding in June-no kids :(
It is supposedly one of dh's close friends-the one with the stag do that got into a strop when dh said he wouldnt be going abroad for 5 days leaving me with such a young baby.I think hes abit of a twat to do that as he al;ready knew about the pg before the wedding was arranged. My plan was to leave dd's with my mum and make the most of it and have agret time with dh-hotel,get drunk you know, but dh now thinks we will be cordially univited due to the stag do or at least relagated to the evening disco. We would be pleased if that happened and depending on how we felt probably stil have anight away maybe in Brighton.I personally have occasionally left my dc's for a night as i think its important to keep your identity and relationship with dh "healthy"
I would defo try to take the buggy if you can cos baby will sleep in that allowing you some timw to relax.
need to sleep Maybe its the name "Moronsons"god im funny.

PDR · 09/12/2010 15:21

zero we also have a wedding in June like ledkr and it's no kids. We are all day guests so if I am breastfeeding (couldn't do it last time so trying not to count chickens) I'm not sure how it will work. We have a nanny so she will be able to stay in a nearby hotel with children but not actually at the wedding venue as it's an old country house that isn't a hotel IYSWIM so I couldn't even pop up and feed if needed Hmm. I guess I will have to express as much as I can or just not go?!

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 09/12/2010 15:32

sham isnt it tho,i aggree with the no kids,i did it at my own wedding as had to keep the numbers and budget down but surely they could make an allownace for very young babies of close friends as they will be in pram etc.We have another one in Oct which is my birthday weekend we told the groom that we prob wont go as its my birthday and dont want to leave the kids (its along way away),he immediately said bring them,we are quite looking forward to it now.

snowangels1 · 09/12/2010 15:32

ledkr I just nearly choked on my cornflakes laughing at 'moronsons', funniest thing I've heard all day Xmas Grin.

PDR could you pop back to hotel at some point during wedding festivities for a quick feed and express beforehand for other feeds? (don't really know how these things work though)...

EauRudolph · 09/12/2010 16:01

NeedToSleep, I've been getting restless arms too, a banana just before bed could help with the restlessness but might cause heartburn Grin

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 09/12/2010 16:09

snowangels Xmas Grin at cornflakes at 3.30 in the afternoon.
OO ladies,i am looking forward to getting into bed early tonight to watch coronation st on my FREEVIEW Dh is on a late/night shift so dd is coming in with me for a big cuddle so he doesnt wake me up later,he is in the spare room, its our new arrangment when hes on a late,he will love it when the night feeds are happening.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 09/12/2010 16:21

Grin @ ledkr, you've officially renamed the place in this house!!!!! still Envy at your freeview in bedroom....

EauRudolph thank you about banana tip, wonder why that is, maybe potassium? Sorry to hear you're getting them too, it doesn't hurt but sooo annoying!

giraffeshatewinter · 09/12/2010 16:30

We had a childfree wedding, but welcomed babies. A 3-month old came, and hung out in her sling/pushchair all day, with expressed milk in bottles (I think, didn't really notice). Then again, was a civil ceremony followed by lunch, so not really an all-day/all-night affair, which I guess made it a little easier. No wedding invites yet for next year, but a few potentials (if haven't pissed everyone off by having such a small wedding myself!!).

In other news... how about we try to meet up while on mat leave, depending where we live and how good our energy levels are! PM me with your email address if you're interested. Ideally to meet Brum or Leics, or London perhaps.

JustOneMorePlease · 09/12/2010 16:33

needtosleep I had crampy restless legs in first pregnancy and my midwife told me to try putting magnets in the bed under the bed sheet, by my legs!

I had some flat ones (they had measurement conversions on!) and I do think it helped!

May sound mad, but worth a try!

ElleB1980 · 09/12/2010 16:40

Hi all...good to see we're all growing well.

Funny to read all the wedding posts - I'm a bridesmaid in July (we already got the dresses so no pressure [hmm} ) and am planning the hen do - a 3 night stay in a country house - in early May. I'm planning on leaving my DP with the baby, and if there are any problems with feeding etc he'll come and stay locally. For the wedding we may well leave baby with GP's overnight...

Slightly worried I might be over optimistic about it all...

snowangels1 · 09/12/2010 16:42

Magnets justonemore? Never heard of that Xmas Hmm. needto I had relfexology and she focused on bits to help restless leg/dead hands. Must admit that night it got alot worse, but after that it practically dissapeared for a few days.

ledkr was that freeview you'll be watching corrie on in your bedroom?! Xmas Grin Xmas Envy Xmas Grin

Cornflakes at 3:30 pm is the only way to go, especially with a bit of choc nesquik powder in to make it chocolate style Xmas Grin

ZeroMistletoeZeroTinsel · 09/12/2010 17:16

Good suggestions, thanks girls. I like the idea of taking the buggy, but my worry is that we have asked for a buggy that can't have the baby flat on her back which might have been a mistake on our part.

Ledkr how can the no kids rule apply to newborns, that's so silly, its not like shell be on the champagne

NeedToSleepZZZ · 09/12/2010 17:23

Justonemore Magnets??? I'm willing to give anything a go but are you sure you haven't got hidden cameras at my house so you can have a laugh at me when my filling filled mouth gets stuck to the pillow? Grin Do fridge magnets count as they're the only ones I have at the moment!

angels I would love anything to do with being massaged (not OH's strong point, he always moans if I ask for a foot rub) so reflexology might cover 2 things at once. I'm seriously considering a pg massage before christmas if I can afford it as the thought of lying on my front makes me want to weep that I can't.

All this talk of weddings is freaking me out, I can't think past next week.... OH and I were planning to get married next May but have postponed it for a year as won't be able to plan it whilst learning how to be a mum! Definitely going down the minimal route though.

PDR · 09/12/2010 17:55

I forgot about the hen night... at my baby shower my friends were all talking about the hen night and I kind of just went along with it but it's going to be a 2/3 night thing away from home so I probably won't go. I'm not going to mention it until after the baby is born though!

snowangels1 · 09/12/2010 18:05

I am a bit Xmas Envy with wedding talk - we went from not yet engaged to married in less than 12 weeks earlier this year (so we could start ttc quickly after a mc) so all the fun organising of it was just stressful as everything had to be done very quickly. It did, however, take my mind of my mc. Looking back on it prob best way to do it though - lots of people seem to obsess over organising wedding for a year or more and I do think you can over think these things. Nice and minimal sounds good needto. I know you're an hour or so from me so have some weddingy people I can recommend to you if you need it (like a FANTASTIC florist etc). Think I was very lucky with my wedding everything we chose etc was great. Don't think I'll ever fit in my dress again though (just as well I guess as hopefully I'll have no need for another wedding dress again!).

knittamerrykid · 09/12/2010 18:14

needto I mentioned the same thing to my grandma and she said to eat bananas as well.

I agree small babies should not count as children.

how are you all meassuring? like the TPT or the front from top to bottom? I've meassured the tp and mine is 5 inches, so most must be the same.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 09/12/2010 18:33

Okay, knitta you just made me feel brave so I got the tape measure out and.... I'm measuring just under 37 inches (93 1/2cm) round my navel and FH is 33cm. OH had to do FH again as freaked myself out by doing it on my own and must have been crooked as was 36cms! I know it's smaller then other people have measured but am getting lots of 'watch out, she's gonna blow!' looks from people in the street.

I'm definitely not brave enough to face the scales though, I don't need another reason to cry.

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 09/12/2010 19:42

maybe we should just rock up with the baby and say "well what were we meant to do with a small one?
Have made the big decision to stay down on the big tv to watch corrie as dd and i decided it such a big moment in history.
I could do a brum meet up giraffe. I did suggest coffee in essex next time we are there to someone on here but cant rember who it is.They didnt respond anyway sob sob.
I am avoiding the scales too.theres just no point now as cant change it and it wont be forever.
I have had the restless legs thing a couple of times when trying to sleep,it very annoying.
People keep saying to me that "you wont go till Jan" size isnt really an idicator of dates tho

debka · 09/12/2010 19:53

Hi all

Had a pedicure today- birthday present from my sister- was lovely except my annoying DH wouldn't lokk after DD so she came too and paddled! The pedicurist (?) was very patient but it wasn't quite as relaxing as it could have been!

angels did I miss a post? Have you got the dreaded GD? Much sympathy if so.

All you ladies with SPD- can you diagnose me please? I get an achey pain in what I suppose is my pelvis if I've been resting for a while and then get up and walk- also uncomfy when getting up off the floor. What do you think? Mild SPD or just me making a fuss?
