I am worried about Pinky,i wish she would come on and let us know how they are.

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 07/12/2010 18:26

oh angels you will be so Xmas Envyof me. Rememeber in the early days when we used to compare what was on our crap upstairs tvs?
I HAD FREEVIEW PUT INTO MY BOUDOIR TODAY.Oh joy of joys,i can go to bed early and still have hundreds of crap channels to chose from.
I have finally arrived Grin

snowangels1 · 07/12/2010 18:29

Xmas Envy Xmas Envy Xmas Envy Xmas Envy Xmas Envy Xmas Wink Xmas Grin @ ledkr

wigglesrock · 07/12/2010 19:17

ledkr ooh freeview upstairs and an en-suite, you have surely arrived Xmas Grin Have thought about Pinky a few times today, hope all is well.

Mr Wiggles is out on his Christmas do tonight, am sure he'll be lovely in the morning Hmm The girls are off school tomorrow, not snow enforced thank God, my mum is taking them to Santa, McDonalds etc so may just mooch about, organising the babys chest of drawers, looking at the babygros, blankets etc!!!

snowangels I had issues with my employer a little while ago, re entitlement to annual leave accured while on maternity leave. Seemingly they made a mistake and had read an e-mail wrong when they told me I wasn't entitled to it Hmm Got sorted out pretty quickly when I handed them a load of "fair employment" material Grin

PDR · 07/12/2010 19:23

I too have freeview in my boudoir! But then you have to have freeview here as we've already gone digital so not that special!

I have really tingly fingers today - anyone know what this means? They are stiff too.

Have been deserted by DH tonight as he has gone for a meal/drink with man-friends. Have got a Chinese {blush} as too lazy to cook for one!

DS went to bed at 6pm after much tears - even trying to go to sleep on my arm in the bath Hmm so they must have been busy at nursery today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is no tape-measure in the world long enough to measure my bump Enough said.

debka · 07/12/2010 20:26

Was thinking about a tingly finger related problem PDR- my hands are either numb or tingly most of the night. Wondering if it's the onset of the dreaded carpal tunnel syndrome? Had it in the last few weeks with DD.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 07/12/2010 23:22

Evening anyone who's still awake! I seem to be becoming nocturnal recently, insomnia strikes again!

ledkr, I'm very Envy at your freeview in the boudoir, I don't even have a tv in there.

PDR sounds like it could be carpal tunnel, I've never had it but just read about it. Hope it doesn't get any worse.

Delia, hope it isn't SPD, there seem to be quite a few women with it and I feel very lucky (touch wood) not to have it. SOunds as if there are some good exercises to help though. Good luck for GTT results... Smile

I saw my health visitor today and is it okay to say that she seems really nice? Whenever I read anything about HVs it's always negative but she seemed really human and supportive. My MIL is a HV so I should really have some idea about what they do but was clueless! Got my little red book, it all seems so real now. Also, turns out that the clinic is just a 5 min walk from my front door... bonus!

Meant to do TPT earlier but completely forgot and to do it now would mean shifting myself from the sofa and I'm being very lazy......

Deliaskis · 08/12/2010 09:35

Morning all, two posts in two days, I am obviously feeling on the up!

GTT results last night and all is well, 5 before lucozade, and 4.9 two hours after so insulin etc. all working fine. Really please and relieved about that.

Did tell MW about pain though and she said it does sound like SPD. I obvoiusly don't have it as bad as some people though, and for that I am thankful, but she has referred me for physio and told me to get a support belt, and to take it easy. I think I was a bit stupid as I had felt this coming on for a couple of weeks, and then went shopping in Manchester on Saturday including round the Christmas markets etc. and it's been much worse since then, so I think it's another indicator that I just need to slow down and give myself a break a bit.

angels glad work have backed down, they were so wrong in their wrongness.

needtosleep sorry you're living up to your name and needing to but not sleeping, but glad you like your HV!

Stay healthy ladies.
Dx

snowangels1 · 08/12/2010 11:44

Problem with lots of channels and freeview ledkr, I find, is I always end out wasting time on the rubbishest ones - the other day I was mesmerised by a steam cleaner demo on a shopping channel and very tempted to buy it as it looked so good. Managed to resist though Xmas Grin

Am waiting call from GP re: heartburn/indigestion prescription. I'm not sure why the GP bothers to state a phone in time to speak to her though as she's never free in that time - you just have to wait all day long for a call back - which, in the past has been 5 hours worth of waiting indoors keeping the phone free

needto hope you get some sleep soon. Not getting a good nights sleep really makes everything seem much worse doesn't it?

PDR I second the carpal tunnel possibility. Don't get too worried though - I've had exactly that on and off since about 15 ish weeks - some days/nights it's really bad and other times I barely notice it, so don't assume you're going to be stuck with it non stop for the next couple of months. Mine sort of go numb and tingly and hurt to move and feel really bloated and stiff.

No news yet from pinkie. I'm getting quite worried now Xmas Hmm

snowangels1 · 08/12/2010 11:48

oh yeah, and on the work and mat leave front - it wouldn't suprise me that they knew they were wrong all along and were just being a pain - they actually do something illegal with my bank holidays (too complicated to explain and is all due to the fact I'm part time and don't work on mondays so never get the bank holidays other staff do). I've checked with my union and know they are in the wrong and have brought them up on it but they claim they're fine as they are. Ended out I just felt it wasn't worth it to pursue as most bank holidays are in school hols anyway (work in a school). Just feel annoyed whenever there's a bank holiday during term time as know that's a day off everyone else gets and is paid for and I don't get the equivalent. It's not the money it's the principle

knittamerrykid · 08/12/2010 12:47

I was thinking about pinkie too, hope she's just been busy.

great news deliask and needto, although not the insomnia...

santaslittleheroine · 08/12/2010 14:12

angels I know that advert for the steam cleaner and (worryingly?) it is DP who was really really interested. "we could use it for this.... we could use if for this...."
Luckily I realised that he would use it for a week and then it would languish at the back of the ironing board cupboard until I decided I had had enough wanted to use it.
Anyhoo, great news on the tests ladies, relieved, much? Christmas is back on!
Talking of Christmas, I too have had horrible indigestion and am worried about the effect the whole holiday season will have on my digestive system...

NeedToSleepZZZ · 08/12/2010 14:33

angels, i sent you a post with a link on gr about my steam cleaner. I really love the one we have and use it once a week on floors and upholstery. Luckily ILs don't want it back! I put a small amount of carpet cleaner in it mixed with water and it's fab! But I am neurotic... Confused

SemperEadem · 08/12/2010 14:57

Hi Ladies,

Well the gp thinks that the right sided rib pain is something to do with my liver as I nearly shot off the bed when she prodded my ribs! Being sent for an ultrasound and waiting for results of blood tests. Thing is something similar happened in my pregnancy with DS. My liver started to ache and when I got it checked out, some enzymes were raised and then completely went back to normal Confused

Ledkr - I know exactly what you mean. I'm quite an independent little soul really despite our situation of being miles away from family & friends and I feel quite trapped at the moment as I can't do my usual thing of getting out and about when the isolation sets in. I'm arguing like mad with DH over small things and I keep blowing things out of proportion, saying things like he doesn't respect me and he thinks I'm boring etc etc etc when really he isn't actually doing anything, I think its me projecting how I feel. Its mad though, because I love being pregnant. I'm normally very stoic in my approach to life and my own negative emotions are peeing me off right now!

Angels - you should really push them on the bank holiday thing you know. They should be working the bank holiday entitlement out in hours as a whole and then pro rata your part time hours against it to ensure you get the equivalent on top of your hours! Glad they sorted your mat leave dates. I'm an ex HR bod prior to SAHMing it!

snowangels1 · 08/12/2010 15:58

Seriously - I can't believe this. I spend FIVE HOURS sitting waiting for a GP call back re: my indigestion issues. Ring surgery to check I haven't been forgotten to find the rudest lady that ever did live tell me GP tried 'at 12:52. You were engaged. She won't try again. She's got better things to do. You've missed your chance, hard luck'. When I tried to tell her I was only on the phone for 2 minutes to my mw whom I had waited 3 days to ring me she said 'doesn't make any difference'. I burst into tears and promptly hung up.

Can't believe some people. I've been sitting here in floods of tears ever since. DH is off to chemist in a min to ask and hope there's something over the counter I can take to help as I'm getting quite dehydrated as not drinking enough as water makes my gurgling/reflux type action painful/nasty.

Anyone know any liquid or chewable stuff that isn't gaviscon that might help? (can't swallow tablets, especially as my gag reflex in pg is so rubbish).

Sorry for the rant guys, I feel bad having yet another moan on here to you.

Grannyapple · 08/12/2010 16:05

Bloody he'll angels really no need for any of that in speaking to you-cheeky bitch!

I would get DH to complain!!

Off to1st NCT ante natal class tonight....bit apprehensive , not sure what to expect really!

snowangels1 · 08/12/2010 16:20

grannyapple my Mum warned me of basket weaving hippy types at NCT, but I think she's completely out of date on that one and disagreed with her at length on it. Let us know what it's like and if you learn any good pearls of wisdom.

burp. burp. gurgle. grrr make it go away emoticon.

EauRudolph · 08/12/2010 16:45

I think the NCT are quite pro-natural child birth (as in no pain relief). I think they do have a point that the downsides are often glossed over, particularly with regards to the effects on BF but if you end up having interventions then it doesn't mean that you can't BF or that you're a terrible mother or a failure or anything like that.

Planning a natural birth is fine but sometimes circumstances are against it and I don't think anyone should feel guilty about it. Just be armed with all the information, good and bad sides, and think about what you would want in certain circumstances.

I am going to have to make 2 birth plans this time and figure out what the heck to do with a toddler, especially if I end up having to go into hospital.

smallblackflowers · 08/12/2010 16:58

angels I take Rennies and Andrews Liver Salts in addition to Gaviscon. Both are fine in pregnancy and can be bought over the counter. I find the combination works better than Gaviscon on its own. I have good days and bad days with the indigestion - not too bad at the moment thank goodness as when it's bad it makes doing / eating anything a nightmare.

eaurudolph I too have the 'what shall I do with my toddler when I go into hospital' problem, but have a few offers now of people who can come over at short notice and look after her if it happens in the night.

smallblackfestiveflowers · 08/12/2010 17:02

just trying out my new name Xmas Smile

knittamerrykid · 08/12/2010 17:21

Loving the festive names!

granny how exciting, and btw, I could do with knowing how to weave a basket Xmas Grin

angels how rude! that's just awful, definetely complain!

I had my flu jab today, the nurse is the same lady that does the baby clinic and was lovely, if she puts them on babies like she did on me then I am more than happy.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 08/12/2010 17:26

angels I'm absolutely Shock Angry at the receptionist, that's appalling and she needs to be reported. I had a similar (but no way as bad) incident with my receptionist last week, it's not an excuse but I think they're really inundated with calls due to the weather. That is NOT an excuse for her speaking to you like that and she needs telling. I have rennie chewables that are really nice to eat (bit like softmints) but not sure they'd have much of an effect on you as it's so severe. What is the next step? Do you have to call again? Maybe you could go into the surgery and demand to be seen (if you're feeling assertive) tomorrow morning?

Grannyapple I second what eauRudolph said about taking a balanced view to birth no matter what your told. It's all very well if you have a straightforward experience but medical intervention is necessary sometimes (and thank god we have access to it!) and no woman should be made to feel as if they've done something wrong if this happens. I'm planning a HB but have an open mind as to what will happen in reality. Let us know how you get on and I hope there are lots of lovely people there to chat to Smile

snowangels1 · 08/12/2010 18:05

Thanks all. Feel Blush at moaning on here again though. DH came back from chemist with both gaviscon advance and rennies for me, so am testing those out in the hope they help. Not sure when I can next speak to GP as phone in time slots clash with my diabetic nurse appointment tomorrow and mw appointment on friday, but don't really want to wait until next week for something. As you can see, the receptionists are very rigid to the rules so don't think I'd manage to guarentee to get GP to ring me at a time when I'm not in with mw/nurse. Am considering cancelling diabetic appointment tomorrow just so I can get the prescription, which I know seems ridiculous, but not sure what else to do. I am NOT going to burst into tears to the receptionist again Xmas Shock

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 08/12/2010 18:56

Drs receptionists are really the gestapo,i dont know if i posted here but mine refused to arrange for my wee to be tested for a uti( i suffer dreadfully)she said the nurde would dip it,i told her that wont show up infection just signs of one and told her it was my wee after all Xmas Grin Afew weeks later i dropped dds wee off to be dipped and she was saying the bloody opposite,me-"is there someone else i can deal with as you are very rude"It an amzing thing being over 40 ladies,do not fear it,you can say anything.
Seriously concerned about pinky now COME ON PINKY.
The prof has deserted us too, shall all seek her out on the other traitor thread she goes on.
Took dd to school today despite her moaning she was ill.Me and dh were going to have a date day, pics and lunch. At 9.30 the school rang for me to get her Xmas BlushI was sure she was trying it on,still am to be honest.
Ladies, i cannot believe you are all suffering unecesseraly with hb.I take one 7.5 of rinatadine every day and have none whatsoever.

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 08/12/2010 18:56
