granny thats the old rule,it changed a few yrs ago i believe.Yes ucas are good i think.

wigglesrock · 06/12/2010 19:04

grannyapple you are entitled to start your mat leave from 11 weeks before EDD (29 weeks) should you choose but can't be enforced at that point.

Grannyapple · 06/12/2010 19:05

Hi tarlia thanks. I was convinced it was onset of prem labour-called my SIL who is a mw & she thought could poss be prem-started prepping me mentally for the injections I would be given etc.

I've never had thrush before so can't believe that's what caused it. Eased up a bit now....but still a dull ache. But grateful it isn't anything more serious....

I have never had cramping like it before.....god only knows what I'll be like in feb!!

Grannyapple · 06/12/2010 19:10

Thanks ladies, I stand corrected, thankfully!

PinkiePoo · 06/12/2010 19:13

Yep still not much wiggle. Cold drink did nothing.

She did just move, not so much a kick, but definate movement. Is that still ok? As it hasnt been 10 kicks today!

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 06/12/2010 19:20

Pinkie how many weeks are you?I am 31 and the movemnents are less this week, apparently around this time they have less room to move thus become bored and sleep more.I really think that if you are worried ring the labour ward an they will bring you in to check you over. Dont leave it to chance.

PDR · 06/12/2010 19:24

angels there was a thread on this in Employment not long ago and they can only force you to start ML 4 weeks before your DD. Have you got a lot of AL to take before you go? Perhaps they have added that on to the start of your ML? Definately ring them tomorrow though!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ACAS are really helpful as jack suggests - always helps to say "I have spoken to ACAS and they have confirmed blah blah blah" so they know you are in the know!

My company are absolute swines about "employment rights" LOL and I have had to clue up myself to avoid being taken advantage of.

What a pain for you though!!!!!!!!!

PDR · 06/12/2010 19:26

Pinkie what about a bath? They sometimes recommend that? Otherwise call the Labour Ward and they will ask you to come in for a reassurance CTG. I went several times in my last PG as baby sometimes didn't move for days. They didn't seem to mind and were always very kind to me.

linz17xxx · 06/12/2010 20:30

Tarlia I suffer from sciatica too and it is very painful. I have it on the right side from my bum down my leg. I also have rib pain and terrible heartburn at the minute so not feeling too great. I have also developed thrush in the last 2 days which seems to be a side effect of the antibiotics i'm on for my chest infection. I'm falling apart lol x

wigglesrock · 06/12/2010 20:36

pinkie if you worried ring the midwife or labour ward, ask to get checked out. I feel movements, not kicks as such. Not that I'm recommending it but my one always goes a bit mad if I eat something really sweet, break out the chocolate Grin

knittamerrykid · 06/12/2010 21:17

pinkie deff try the sugar+caffeine combination, although then you might not be able to sleep... But as others have said, mov. get less and less from now, don't they?

Good luck with that angels, how horrid to have to fight your corner, hope they don't put up much of a fight.

PDR · 06/12/2010 21:24

Ladies... if you need anything from Mothercare they are doing some sort of discount tonight between 10pm and 7am. You need to become a fan of their Facebook page and they will release the code at 10pm. Discount was 15% last night but not sure if it will be the same or less tonight.

Oneof4 · 06/12/2010 22:12

Pinkie my bump's been really active the last few weeks, and then suddenly spent three days doing next to nothing...then today has rocketed off like a puppy dog again, putting my mind at rest. Apparently concern about lack of movement is one of the most regular queries labour wards get and they are more than happy to bring you in for a 20 minute monitor to see whether there's a problem, so give them a bell. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about, but shifting that nagging concern is so difficult unless you have some sort of proof.

ZeroMistletoeZeroTinsel · 06/12/2010 22:24

Hey everyone, I've been quite busy recently hence the silence from my end but all is well. This is a good page about employment rights during pregnancy. It's also worth knowing that just because something is "policy" or even in your contract, doesn't make it legal.

As you were Xmas Smile

Deliaskis · 07/12/2010 10:08

Morning ladies, I've not been on for a while, been a bit up and down and also v busy, but back in the land of the living for now at least!

Had my GTT last Wed which was horrid but not as bad as I thought it would be - got given normal lucozade instead of the threatened syrup, so that helped. Still ended up feeling a bit dizzy by the end of the wait, and they again took ages (nearly 40 mins!) to get any blood out of me. The jacket potato and tuna that I had in the hosp cafe afterwards seemed like the nicest thing I have ever eaten. Not got results yet, but hopefully will do at mw apt tonight. Am hoping my dizziness might indicate that my insulin production is in fact tip top (wishful thinking!).

Have been getting what I assume (from diagooglenosis) is SPD coming on for about the last week/fortnight. Really painful upper inner thighs and hips etc. Brings tears to my eyes at bad moments, and is making me do the late pregnancy waddle even though my bump is still a fairly manageable (though increasing!) size. Of course not sure if this is what it is but symptoms seem to fit - will talk to MW tonight.

I hope everybody is OK. I have tried to catch up on what I can but it's been about 10 days and there's so much news! Sorry for those of you who have been ill or are just feeling rotten generally. Hope you're getting the requisite amount of TLC from DH/DP etc. I've been up and down emotionally. I don't quite feel like I can see the light at the end of the tunnel yet, but I think it might be because Christmas is 'in the way'. I'm sure it will go really quickly afterwards!

Stay happy and healthy ladies, thinking of you all (despite my absence from here!).

Dx

PDR · 07/12/2010 10:29

Morning :)

Have been to physio this morning and got some new "excercises" to help with SPD. She is going to see me next week again with another colleague who might try and manipulate my pelvis Hmm At least they are being proactive! The support I've had from the hospital has actually been great even though it hasn't actually made a difference to my condition!

I'm off out to finish Christmas shopping now then meeting my Mum for lunch and then having my hair done! Such a busy day (for me) but most of it will be sitting down!

Pinkie have you felt the baby move yet?

Angels have you spoken to HR? Hope they are ammending their policy as we speak!

Tarlia · 07/12/2010 14:19

TPT after 2 weeks I'm still 9 sheets, but feel like I've grown loads! Weird!

Good luck with the GTT results Delia hope you get the all clear.

You lot are VERY quiet today! Where are you all? Hope you are well and having fun, where ever you may be!

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 07/12/2010 16:31

Anyone got the guts to post actualbump measurment on here?I have,i am a 44 inch waist!!How funny.I am very portly.haha

knittamerrykid · 07/12/2010 16:48

I can't face lifting my clothing to meassure as it is so cold!!

wigglesrock · 07/12/2010 17:19

Ledkr what is this waist thing you speak of? I'm not sure I've had one for the past 10 years Wink

Put Christmas tree up today, and girls finished it off this afternoon, lets just say it looks very festive if a bit bedraggled. DD2 (3) has just spent the past 30 mins putting all her toy figures into the crib, not exactly sure what Peppa Pigs role in the birth of Jesus was, but apparently its vital that she sits on top of the crib Grin

Hope you had a nice afternoon PDR, I was supposed to go Christmas shopping with my sister and mum last night and go for dinner but the snow storm put a stop to that!! Although my sickness seems to have returned over the past few days so probably as well.

jackfrost · 07/12/2010 17:33

Ok, 49 inches! I am all belly!!! Just hope that it goes quickly after they are born, bet i'll end up putting weight on after!

snowangels1 · 07/12/2010 17:48

wiggles hope the sickness goes quickly. sending positive vibes.

My TPT measurement is 10.2 - have grown 0.2 in 2 weeks Xmas Grin don't think I have a tape measurer big enough to measure tum though.

Have spent the afternoon watching film 'nativity' - has anyone seen it? Was pretty good actually . The sort of childs film that you don't mind watching. Now watching '4 in a bed' - love that show. My Granny made me laugh by 'oh-erring' and saying the name sounded like it wasn't really her kind of program (even when I explained about how it was the 'come dine with me' of b&bs)

Have been trying really hard to do my school sow again today, but sooo much brain power.

Bad indigestion a little releived after little monster moved about a bit but still gurgling all over the place so am ringing GP tomorrow hopefully for some of the strong stuff :)

snowangels1 · 07/12/2010 17:50

Oh, and I've not been on much as DH is STILL at home due to snow and he can't work in snow (gardener). He's starting to drive me mad though as he's getting to the naughty school boy stage where he's so bored of being stuck in he's going ever so slightly mad and energetic - have had to hide all foods containing sugar Xmas Wink

EauRudolph · 07/12/2010 18:17

Sorry to hear about your indigestions snowangels, I've been having dreadful heartburn but found that it helps if I completely cut out caffeine and chocolate Hmm

Finally I have remember TPT, I am 8.5 sheets now. It's so long since I last did it that I can't remember what I was before!

We put up our tree at the weekend and DD is less than impressed. I just switched the lights on and she started crying and saying "don't want it". Bah, humbug Grin

snowangels1 · 07/12/2010 18:19

Oh, forgot to add (sorry for mammouth posting) work I think/hope have agreed to my original maternity leave date in january. They didn't apologise just said it might have been a 'mix up' with the dates, but can't see how as they form they made me fill in was clear enough Xmas Hmm. My manager thinks (cynically) they were just trying to get me on mat leave early to make it easier for them and so they don't have to make the effort with my SSP - makes me really Xmas Angry as lots of people in my place might have just accepted this as fact and gone on leave much earlier than needed.

oh yeah - and delia glad you got through GTT in one piece :)
