misshoohaa · 26/11/2010 16:45

"Misshoohaa moves to stand with the not finding out group."

I'd rather a surprise and it seems a bit of an anti-climax when people know, especially when people name the baby too and start talking about it using it's name. (hope I haven't offended anyone by saying that!)

Although I have given myself permission to shop now and thouroughly disappointed in the nuetral clothes! I want nice red things for the bub but can't find anything I like so far.

motherofsnortpigs · 26/11/2010 16:57

Can we start the weekend now?

clarkiee I love being pregnant too! Feeling sick and tired isn't much fun, but I'm almost through that now and I think I felt 'rabbit' wiggle yesterday!

knackered Are you still feeling poorly? And after all those Fox's fruits with added vitamin C we scoffed... I feel very frustrated for you that DH stuffed up his present buying. Did you say that your DCs birthdays are in December too? DON'T PANIC.

I am definitely not going to find out the sex of this baby, although in my brain I am going to have a boy because we need one more of those to make two of each. And yes, it was a life science I read at uni and yes, I know that's not how it works. Plus I've got a couple of cute choices for boys names and no idea for a girl.

When I married I took DH's name because my surname was unusual and I used to get teased at school.

I am avoiding all uncooked mould ripened soft cheese even if it has been made with pasteurised milk - it's the mould that contains the listeria. On the other hand unpasteurised hard cheeses are ok as a hard cheese is not moist enough to allow bacteria to grow.

DS is on antibiotics after a secondary infection developed on top of the nasty cold and vomiting etc. Back to his usual cheeky get up three times in the night self :)

cep · 26/11/2010 16:58

it's only recent here in hampshire that we get 2 scans. last time should have only had 1 at 20 weeks, it's only because i was overweight i got more cause they wanted to make sure the baby wasn't too big, so i had 3 last time.
This time because we get at scan at 12 weeks, (supposedly) 20 weeks, and again cause i'm still over weight i'll get the extra 2.

I have to admit i agree, i'm also impatient and changed my mind so many times with ds but was so pleased i was able to make the big annoucement, otherwise i think if you know what it is, you tend to know the name already so all you really get to say is it's here.

I don't really mind what we get, a girl would be nice, but i know what i'm doing with a boy. DH does NOT want a girl, he thinks they're loads of hastle, which makes me worry a bit if it is a girl that he won't bond, i'm sure he'll be fine, but as he didn't want another one anyway and he hates the baby stage if it's a girl might make it a bit worse for him. And i think a bit more stressful for me cause i'll be worried about dh. does that make sense?

cep · 26/11/2010 17:07

motherof i think that means you'll probably have a girl. we can think of girls not boys so i reckon i'll have a boy. dh and i NEVER agree with names, i like longer names that you can then shorten to nicknames if you so wish, dh would want to name them the nickname. Because we have so many clothes we haven't looked to be honest.

I loved being pregnant last time, and am looking forward to feeling it move.

moomin156 · 26/11/2010 17:15

cep i was talking names with mom yesterday when we were shopping and she said that in her day you were not allowed to 'register' a shortened name, you always had to have the long name on your certificate......wonder when that rule changed?

We dont want to know the sex.....i want a surprise, you dont get many surprises in life these days.Mind you ive had a few this last year LOL. It will give me incentive to push :)

moomin156 · 26/11/2010 17:17

motherof.....as a firsttimer, what does it a 'wiggle' feel like, what do you feel early on. I have no idea what to expect but i cant wait

motherofsnortpigs · 26/11/2010 17:31

moomin it was like 4-5 bubbles popping inside me really low down (not my guts!)

motherofsnortpigs · 26/11/2010 17:32

cep Our DD2 has a really long name, and most of the time we call her Bob!

BarbieLovesKen · 26/11/2010 17:33

Cep that makes perfect sense and I feel quite sad for you because its a small bit of unneccessary pressure. That said, I bet anything that should it be a girl, your DH will be smitten, I think that most men soften with daughters for some reason.

You see, Im convinced this one is a girl. Absolutely positive. I have 100 girls names but cant land on a boys one. I can "see" a girl. I was joking that this definately meant it was a boy Grin. That said, I was like this with dd, didnt "know" what it was but only had girls names, only imagined a girl, walked straight to girl's clothes in shops etc..

With ds, despite finding out at 22 weeks knew it was a boy already. In fact, think I said to sonographer "its a boy but confirm to me Grin"

Oh! dont laugh but has anyone done the engagement/ wedding ring thing on a chain thingy for predicting sex?

I've done it on my granny and it showed that she had 6 boys and 3 girls Shock and anyone else I did it on, was always right. I've done it loads on DH and I over the years and always, always get 2 girls and a boy. Maybe thats whay Im thinking girl. (never in the right order though!!) Ridiculous really but is a bit of silly fun.

Moomin I always described first "kicks" feel like a pulse in the low part of your stomach.

So funny, came across a home movie the other day of the night before I had dd, had my top up and was tapeN my stomach Blush moving like crazy with limbs poking out - twas like aliens!! Grin

I love that feeling. Actually each time I give birth I miss the baby because of it.

cep · 26/11/2010 17:37

moomin when my parents were expecting me they wanted to call me clair but were told no cause people would think it was chair. Confused

my first movement last time felt like a flump,(i can't write the infliction i'm thinking of it with) :o it was really bizarre, i was sat down leaning forward and felt something flip in my tummy. it was on xmas day as well, i'd been just discussing with dh the fact i was worried it hadn't moved yet and a little bit later there it was.

moomin156 · 26/11/2010 17:39

at how many weeks can you expect to 'feel' something??

@cep chair isnt a very nice christian name LOL

BarbieLovesKen · 26/11/2010 17:41

I actually thought I felt movement last night but have shrugged it off as it seems way too early. I really thought so though...

With dd was 19 weeks and with ds was 16 and I know its usually earlier with subsquent pregnancies so suppose it could be in the next few weeks!! Grin.

14weeks tomorrow actually.

sasamaxx · 26/11/2010 17:56

leroy - thank you for satisfying my nosiness Wink
Totally see what you mean - in fact, I know a 1 year old with your surname as a first name Grin

moomin156 · 26/11/2010 17:57

Can i throw in a "im still really worried question"........
I am 11+5 today and not really had any symptoms throughout.....off coffee and dairy, sore boobs but thats about it. I have my scan booked for monday and i am soooo worried that there will be nothing there. I know we have had a lot of sad news on here as there have been so many of us, but what are the chances really. I have had no spotting or bleeding, i am definitely getting fatter / bump. Is it normal to feel this way......

cep · 26/11/2010 18:01

moomin i would have been the only one though :o i think they normally say about 18-20 weeks in first pregnancy but don't quote me on it.

barbie you are supposed to feel it earlier in second pregnancies and so on, so it could have been.

motherof he just doesn't like the long names. where as i prefer the long names for when they're in trouble. :o

Barbie - that is ridiculous you having to wait so long for your scan!!

Cep - your DH will come around if it is a girl.

I'm not sure whether I want to find out or not, we did ask at the 20 week scan when expecting DS< but the way he was lying, they couldn't tell.

I've been told I probably won't be able to have a home birth. The problem is the 2 hospitals in our area are in different trusts, because of where I live my AN care is being administered by a different trust to the hospital I have elected to give birth at. My only option would be to go with the hospital that is in the same trust as my MW, and I don't want to that.
Am hoping to go in as late as possible and to get discharged as soon as possible.

Am now really worried about what to do about DS :(

neenewps · 26/11/2010 18:07

As you all know this is my first but I am sure that I felt movement the other night. I actually sat bolt up and my DH said, what's up.. felt really daft saying that I thought I had just felt the baby move! I have felt it once more since then but now nothing!! Hopefully it wasn't just wind!! Confused Blush

cep · 26/11/2010 18:08

sorry xposted moomin it is normal to feel like that. it's completely normal to feel somethings wrong in some way until it starts moving, then when it's moving as soon as it stops you won't be able to help prodding until it moves again.

neenewps · 26/11/2010 18:10

I don't want to know but my DH does.. we have another 10 weeks to agree on it!!! Could be tricky!

We have a girls name which is a definate but boys we are struggling a little on. We really like traditional names and my DH doesn't want it to be shortened!! Impossible I think as people always do..!

cep · 26/11/2010 18:12

neeewps how far along are you? sorry i've sieve memory at the moment.

kara sorry if i'm being dumb but why would that stop you having a home birth?

neenewps · 26/11/2010 18:20

I'm only 10 weeks cep... maybe it was wind!!! But never felt anything like it before..
