scully, I feel the same as you. I'm spending hours each day wasting time at my desk (bored stiff) when I have 101 things at home I could be doing.

I'm making a mental list in my head of all the things I need to sort once my mat leave starts! I'm even excited at the prospect of having a tiny and organised house - and doing baking in the afternoons - very sad

Tomorrow it will be 7 weeks until my last day - WOOHOO!!!!!!

scully · 22/09/2005 10:53

I don't want anything to do when I go on leave, I only finish 3 wks before and can't see me being particularly motivated to do much except the basics during that time. DH agrees it's a good idea to get the big jobs out of the way during the next 9wks, but of course his timeline and mine seem to move at different speeds......
Some days I can ignore what still needs to be done, other days makes me so cross.....
& I'm not particularly sympathetic with his stomach bug this week, not nice to feel ill but I still had a house to run, with morning sickness, for the 7wks I felt crap so don't see how it's any different.
Will try to stop moaning now

sweetheart · 22/09/2005 11:16

My list doesn't have anything major on it - mostly just organising all the stuff thats been left to gather dust - like our pile of bills which all need filing.

Just being able to do an hours housework a day and keep the house together (rather than trying to rush and get it all done at the weekends) will be a godsend.

Although if I'm feeling adventurous I may decorate our bedroom. It's the last room in the house that needs doing and I'm getting sick of the bannana yellow walls and bottle green woodwork!! Not my taste at all!!!

scully · 22/09/2005 11:38

Know what you mean, nothing worse than waking up on Sat morning and trying to fit in most of the housework before dd's swimming.
Ah well, can't see be being overly motivated with a newborn either so may as well just get used to it now
Or I may get a cleaner in for 2hrs a week. Did this when dd was small, for 3mths, and it was a godsend. Not that expensive either, around £7/hr.
Actually taking a lunch break today - want to buy dd some new winter slippers, so venturing to Woolworths. Figure they may have something cheap and cheerful (& pink...) that madam will like May just have to look at the baby stuff as well though

sweetheart · 22/09/2005 11:51

we have a cleaner twice a week atm. She does an hour on a Tue and Fri. I love coming home to a tidy house - unfortunalty it usually lasts about half an hour!

She is finishing when I'm on mat leave as I will be home to do the housework and also I can't justify the £20 a week when my wages go down.

Still, the cleaner is actually my mum so I'm sure she'll be around to lend a hand while the baby is tiny

scully · 22/09/2005 15:26

Well didn't buy slippers, didn't have dd's size, but did manage 2 pairs of pj's, buy one get one half price - love a bargain! & dd's pair is Dora, so she will like them when she opens them at Xmas!
Woolies had buy 4 Cadbury's chocolates for £1, so of course I couldn't just buy one......happily munching through the Turkish Delight one now
I think with a newborn and a 3yr old at home I will be able to justify a cleaner, even just for 2hrs a week {grin] Just waiting for HR to send me details of my maternity payments then I can do the budget properly, for the next 12mths.....

dramaqueen72 · 22/09/2005 15:36

have just booked that 4d baby face scan at the baby show in oct so a happy bunny right now.
absolutely shattered after wrestling trolley (with fractious toddler......)around supermarket. god its getting harder to do loads of simple ordinary thigns -are you ladies findng that too??? like the other day in changing room trying on trousers..there was no chair or bench....couldnt get my sock back on never mind my boot........ and needed lie down after trying on handful of things. climbing stairs results in me puffing like 90yr old, and I had to get in to wierd positions to cut toenails................

sweetheart · 22/09/2005 15:40

DQ - pmsl!!!! Sorry, I shouldn't laugh because I do actually know what your talking about. I can't get a pair of trousers on now without something to hold onto!!

I find pushing a trolly OK most of the time but dd has a habit of jumping on one side for a ride. Thats when I find it impossible to push, especially round corners!

scully - shame about the slippers. Have you tried Next or Adams?

I'm budgeted up to December, I guess I should do it for the rest of my leave really!!

dramaqueen72 · 22/09/2005 15:46

yes you can laugh s/h but thanks to TP tuesday I know how big your bump is- same as mine!!! I have to hold on to chest of drawers when attempting to put on knickers in the morning. its a very glamerous thing dont you think
lord know how I'm going to even move when 37wks!

dramaqueen72 · 22/09/2005 15:48

ebbie -bloody hell! I've just read what youve done 'so far' today in your post!!!!!!!!! sit down girl! it makes us all look bad if you get so much done and we dont!

sweetheart · 22/09/2005 15:53

lol DQ - yes, no secrets here!!!

I have started to sit on the edge of my bed to put my knickers on. Pull them up to my knees and then stand up

Otherwise I end up hopping round the room trying to get my leg in the whole

scully · 22/09/2005 16:45

I'll have to take more notice of what I do tomorrow morning, with my knickers - too tired to remember right now.
Is there an Adams in the City, will have to check their website. Went to Islington today and found a nice little shopping centre I will need to revisit
DQ, also struggling with trolleys now - dd had to sit in one particular corner on Sunday otherwise I couldn't push it properly. Deciding when to go grocery shopping this week, Friday night or Sat night, lesser of two evils really.....

ebbie22 · 22/09/2005 16:52

LOL,i didnt do that today, hell no,it was tues and weds which is why i was so busy, inbetween mums and tots and my bloody avon round, not forgetting parents and friends around........
Although i am busy most days that was exceptional.....

ninah · 22/09/2005 16:54

i've always put my pants on sitting down (could I be pregnant)

Nemo1977 · 22/09/2005 17:16

afternoon all
DQ I am with you on the shopping trolley thing...you know its bad when your toddler actually unpacks the shopping for you cos you cant reach the bottom of the trolley I may have to admit defeat on the shopping as it took me 3hrs to go for a basic food shop today due to walking like a snail, not being able to unload it all and then trying to put it away..I am just lucky adam is soo good even the woman behind the till was asking how old he was as he was so well behaved..she didnt believe me when I said hes 2 next month maybe because he was actually packing things into a shopping bag
I am also another who sits on the bed to dress of a morning and do the knickers up to the knees bit..lol

So after shopping I have done nothing apart from go to bed for an hour when adam had his nap which I really needed..enabled me to do the dishwasher when we woke up..lol That is the sum total of todays activities just glad dh understands and doesn expect too much some blokes would be fuming.

floops · 22/09/2005 20:21

Hi everyone. How are your bumps?

Mine seems to be getting heavier.

I have not done the shopping thing for weeks. I order it on the internet and feel justifed at having to pay the delivery fee in terms of not struggling. It took me an hour to place my first order but since then it takes ten minutes to order and ten minutes to put it away when it arrives. I have two little helpers who get really excited about the shop man bringing the shopping and help pack it away for me. It has made a big difference.

dramaqueen72 · 22/09/2005 20:25

floops my bump is bloody heavy
I gave UP internet shopping.....so many out of stock or stupid subs. I'm glad yours is working out tho

ebbie22 · 22/09/2005 20:33

Have just rearranged my bedroom and am well pleased with it..Also put the tumble dryer bk down stairs b4 i get too big]as there wont be any room upstairs when baba makes it apperance(which dh keeps having a go saying it will be here in no time if i dont slow down a little...]Just the ironing to do now,but that can wait until tomorrow ...at the very least....

Morning to everyone else.
Adam has been waking up at 6.30am again past 3 days which isnt as bad as the 5.30am but was getting used to the 7.30 wake up..lol We have got toddlers this morning so out for a couple of hours. Nothing else apart from getting the last basket of washing done as then I can start on the baby clothes tommorow and put them away in the draws/wardrobe.
Take care all
