flutter, one q (cos I am thinking of doing similar) how does it work being on mat leave when you are miles away? I mean I guess you have to keep the move a bit quiet from work?

ninah · 21/09/2005 16:34

oh you good girl Nems! re bedroom, yes, they do adapt really quickly don't they! They hate change .... for about 5 minutes. Good, I am glad he's settled in.
I am off tomorrow so may be a bit quiet from me! :-)

Nemo1977 · 21/09/2005 16:35

ninah u need to get set up at home for when on mat leave..lol

flutterbee · 21/09/2005 16:44

I havn't told work that I am moving, DH and I decided to keep it quiet for now just in case work found some loop hole about my maternity pay. I am going to give 2 weeks notice towards the end of my maternity leave as per normal government guidlines.

If your work pays any extra on top of the Government maternity pay if you decide not to go back you will have to pay it back to them just though I would mention that.

ninah · 21/09/2005 17:06

rightyho, thanks fb!
Normal is 90% salary for 6 weeks then something like £100 a week up to the 6 months, I am right?
I know, I need to do lots of planning, not even sure where 'home's gonna be yet tho

ebbie22 · 21/09/2005 17:18

flutterbee · 21/09/2005 20:23

Can someone explain how I do the TP test I get what it is but don't know where to measure from and to and really really want to join in.

sweetheart · 21/09/2005 20:29

flutter - just wrap toilet roll round you - at you widest point of your bump.

flutterbee · 21/09/2005 20:33

Although I woke loads cos dh agreed to take a friend to the airport at 5.30am and he sleeps through alarms so I woke up every 20-40mins to check the time..sigh

Hi all, also haven't had great nights sleep the last 2 nights, dh has a stomach bug and has been up and down out of bed. just hope I don't catch it, last month was bad enough.
So dd is at home looking after dh today, and she's going through all of her old baby clothes which had come down from the loft, seeing which ones fit her dolls......good thing I hadn't gone through all the bags yet and started sorting
Regarding occupational maternity pay, not all companies expect you to pay it back if you choose not to go back to work - good thing to check with HR though and get their answer in writing, just to cover yourself - one of the first questions I asked them

sweetheart · 22/09/2005 10:02

I get additional mat pay and it's not in my contract that I have to pay it back if I don't come back to work. Although I think my boss would be very annoyed if I didn't as I'm the only member of the company who gets extra mat pay!!!

ebbie22 · 22/09/2005 10:05

How is everyone today?Got a little time to chat as dd at busy bees for an houror so....Have rearranged my bk garden, cut front and bk lawn,Rearranged dds room and put in a camp bed under high sleaper so if anyone stays...And started clearing out the nursery.....
Just my room to do today, but boy do i ache ALL over..lol
Hope all is well..

Nemo1977 · 22/09/2005 10:07

ok all am really trying to kick my butt into gear and go shopping but i just feel physically exhausted

scully · 22/09/2005 10:24

You are all busy at home! I'm sitting here at work thinking about the jobs that aren't done at home. & then when I get home at 6pm and organise dd and she's in bed, by 8.30pm I haven't got the energy to do much - frustrating really!
SH, I work for a v. large company, so it will impact on my team if they need to find a replacement for my maternity temp, but no one else really, if I don't come back. & I'm at the point now where I don't really care
9wks tomorrow until I finish, happy to be in single figures now
