oooooooooohhhhh the Donkey is out now is it?! DH and I spent a day wandering around kiddiecare and then John Lewis about a month ago and we pretty much had our hearts set on the baby jogger city select, but the woman in John Lewis was raving about this Donkey thing that was about to come on the market. It is actually narrower than the Baby Jogger and yet babies are side by side. I was a bit dubious because I figured that that MUST mean that babies wouldnt have so much room .... but if other people are saying positive things I may have to re-consider!

We had another scan today - 3 weeks post-surgery - and both babies are still looking well! One has 1cm more fluid around it than the other which they have to keep an eye on but both still within normal ranges. They are the squirmy-ist little critters though, took almost an hour to get their measurements this morning as they wouldn't stay still!! Getting lots of kicks, wriggles and punches though which makes me very happy :) 23 + 1 today so still very early days. Finishing work at just over 27 weeks though and I've worked out I only have 20 working days left - Wooohooooo!!! I feel HUGE already though - 41" waist now and have piled on well over a stone now but - fingers crossed - it all seems to be bump so far and not lots of lardy bits everywhere else (famous last words).

Hope you're all doing well and loving the gorgeous weather. Happy Bank Holiday weekend to you all!

holidays2010 · 28/04/2011 06:19

great news mrsstevo! glad to hear you're all ok.
Missmolly the time will fly by and before you know it youll be a mummy to two bundles of joy!

silverangel · 28/04/2011 13:10

Good news MrsS.

Ha, maybe John Lewis and Bugaboo are in cahoots with each other - it was the lady there that convinced me on it too:)

restingkitty · 28/04/2011 15:01

Excellent news MrsS.

We just picked up our baby jogger (from the A3 baby barn - got to love the 10% "twin discount" Smile). I'm pleased with it. I saw someone pushing the donkey last weekend - is it really narrower? I thought it was a bit of a beast! Also...£1200... I bet JL is raving about it. But it is nice!

DoubleDiffedDachs · 28/04/2011 18:57

Hello all :)

I discovered the flavour of my twins yesterday. I'm having one of each Grin

It is beginning to feel a little more real now, even though I still have no bump and I can't feel them moving yet.

mrsstevo pleased the babies are looking good :)

'Twas John Lewis that also sold me on the donkey - they must be in cahoots! Grin

MissyMolly · 28/04/2011 19:28

holidays it does seem to be going quicker now, am starting to get a little scared!!

MrsS SO glad things are looking good!!!

Double I'm having a boy and girl too. Just wait until they start moving- this is my first pregnancy so can't compare to one baby, but I couldn't believe how active they are- they say twins have less room to move around but mine move so much, pushing each over out the way and fighting for space I imagine.... Hmm Ii'm sure they love each other really! Wink

holidays2010 · 28/04/2011 21:08

Dont be scared - just take it all in your stride. if you have a doting partner youll do even better - take it from me - i have dd whos 5 and dts now 2months and my dp is useless. i do better without him - that way i dont expect help - i just get on with it.

:)

mybootsaremuddy · 28/04/2011 22:06

Hi, I have posted this in the 'life with multiples' twins thread also. But was pointed in this direction as well.

My twins are due 7th July. We have decided to wait untill birth untill seing what 'flavours' we've created this time round
The rest of our brood are:
DD1 11yrs (Elizabeth)
DS1 9 (Xavier)
DD2 our beautiful angel 15.7.06-16.1.09(Juliet)
DN 4(Nicholas)
DS2 12mth (Jonathan)

Were lucky enough to have a nanny who is mad enough willing to stay on [releif emoticon] so hopfully things wont be as hectic as as they could be(i hope). As having a farm to run things can get pretty busy/hectic/mad at the drop of a hat!!

As Jon will only be turning 15mth when the twins arrive we will be needing a tripple pushchair can anyone recomend??????????

Also a vehicle that will seat 6dc and 2 adults!! 4 dc in car seats (2 infant seats, a BritaxTWE and a hbb) and of course the pram!???

I never sufferd from heartburn with my previos 4 pregnancies but have had it REALY bad this time round, anyone have any tips? Im swigging gaviscone like mad but its no use and im desperate for sleeeeeeeeeeeeep!!

Any advice greatly appreciated.
We are baby central on the farm at mo so may not get chance to check back for a few days.

MorningsMadness · 01/05/2011 10:12

Brilliant news MrsS, twins doing so well.

Myboots - I'm drinking lots of milk and not water for heartburn but Gaviscon by the bucketload too!

MissyMolly · 03/05/2011 13:30

Hi everyone, hope you are all doing ok. I'm seeing my consultant tomorrow afternoon where I will finally get to talk about the birth.... about time considering I will be 36+3 tomorrow! Surely they'll give me a date, can't see how they won't be able to!!! I was originally told 37 weeks to set me off, but another consultant said she thought 38 weeks was quite early enough, but we'd see how I'm coping... well, I'm in so much pain it's a struggle to walk and get up and down the stairs and am still suffering with my sickness Sad will see how it goes tomorrow!

holidays2010 · 03/05/2011 18:38

Hope you feel better soon MissMolly!

How is everyone else?

restingkitty · 04/05/2011 09:58

Hi, Myboots - sorry I can't really offer any advice (these being my first two) - I am in awe!

Missymolly I hope the appt goes well today. My first consultant appt is 36+5, so similar! Hopefully they'll give you a date. I'm now 34 weeks and struggling. I imagine by 37 weeks I'll be more than ready to meet them!!

crazydayz · 04/05/2011 18:34

Hi all,

A very quick update after a rather hectic week! Thomas and Isobel were finally born on Thursday 28th April by C-section at 7lb 3 and 6lb 14 . We came home from hospital on Sunday despite a few complications on my part post surgery and we are all doing well.

Miss Molly the new draft NICE guidelines for twin delivery says that they should be out by 38 +0 to reduce risks so use this if you need to to ensure you get yours delivered when you want them to be!

I'll pop back soon for a proper update.

MissyMolly · 04/05/2011 21:01

Hi everyone. CONGRATS Crazydayz! Beautiful names and great weights! Glad you are all doing well now Smile

Well, have been given a date for when I'm 38+1 (and both twins are now head down and good weights so I am pleased about that) The consultant did a sweep which showed that she thought it would be best to wait until 38 weeks as my cervix isn't ready, so induction may be harder for me at 37 weeks. I have to go back on friday though as there was some protein is in my urine and my blood pressure is a little high, so have had some blood tests to see if it's start of Pre-eclampsia. If they're concerned they said they will bring delivery forward.... I have to say that the sweep REALLY hurt me Blush, I'm actually a little worried how I'm going to cope in labour now!!

tiggersreturn · 04/05/2011 22:10

Congratulations crazydayz hope you're all doing well.

Missmolly the advice a friend gave me for sweeps and v-exams was to think of sex while they're doing it - relaxation and lubrication effect. Labour is not like that and you can refuse exams if you really want.

MrsStevo · 04/05/2011 22:59

YAY! Congratulations Crazydayz!! I second MissyMolly's comments of beautiful names and brilliant weights!! So pleased for you and really pleased you're home despite the complications. Hope you are being well looked after after have the cs. Post some piccies when you get a chance!

MorningsMadness · 05/05/2011 10:50

Congratulations Crazydayz brilliant news!

holidays2010 · 06/05/2011 14:02

Congrats crazy!

re examinations, i had so many done to me during labour i swelled up like a balloon! Not a nice sight and very sore! But i doubt you'll need as many as i did. plus you'll have pain relief for labour - youll do fine!

restingkitty · 06/05/2011 14:09

congrats crazy! Glad you are all ok

MrsStevo · 07/05/2011 17:22

Calling all twin mummies / mummies to be! I need your expert help!

I am going car shopping tomorrow with DH and wondered what kind of cars you have / are getting for twins? We have no other children and our family all live a long way away so we will be doing quite a lot of long journeys - I imagine with a ridiculous amount of 'stuff' so I know decent amount of boot space is imperative.

Any suggestions for good cars? Any to avoid? Anything important I should be looking out for?

HELP! I'm clueless with cars .... so long as they have got me from A to B reliably in the past that is all I've ever really worried about.

TIA!

MorningsMadness · 09/05/2011 09:23

How did you get on MrsS? I'm still trying to figure out what car takes twins plus one in a high back seat aged 4 so would have been of no use sorry!

strawberrylace · 09/05/2011 10:50

just a quick post re: cars - we have a renault grand scenic which fits our twins plus a high back booster for our 3.5 year old. plus, as its a small 7 seater, it has a big boot, but is also easy to park as not too much of a bus...

MorningsMadness · 09/05/2011 12:41

Thanks strawberrylace - reliable too?

MrsStevo · 09/05/2011 13:46

Got on ok (aside from freaking about money!). Think we have decided against getting a people-carrier type thing like zafira and are leaning towards an estate. The Vauxhall vectra estate is our fave with skoda octavia a close second. We have a holiday to france booked in October (all being well, twins will be 4 months old by then) so need LOADS of boot space as they will still need the carrycots for the pram at that point. We don't have any other kids to consider so it was just a case of finding a normal-ish car, with isofix bars and a honking great boot.

strawberrylace · 09/05/2011 21:18

mornings seems reliable - is 6 years old - had a hairy moment when the electric display went (no speedo etc!) but took it to the renault dealer and they paid most of the replacement costs. i think it compares well with the zafira which is a similar size - has three separate seats in the back, so you can move them independently, and the seats in the boot just pop up out of the floor. i think when the kids get bigger we will have to up-size again to the espace size, but i didn't want to go that big straight away.
hope you and mrs stevo find what you're looking for!
