Here's the new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MorningsMadness · 19/04/2011 09:29

Wow such news - just back from 10 days away and so much to catch up with!

MrsS - crikey, you have been through so much but congrats, they are little fighters and sound like they're doing really well.

Hippy - Congrats! Fwiw Infacol isn't really meds and worked brilliantly on my DD - first tiny amount and you could hear the wind for miles ha ha!

hippy3 · 19/04/2011 09:49

have just managed to log on...im off to boots to get some infacol.... a good few people have suggested it..so cant be that bad....

The boys are asleep at the mo. Had a good feed this morning, on my breast and have managed to express, and put on a wash !!! so am DETERMINED to gte out of the house today ..only to the post office to post letters, its going to be 18 degrees and I could do with some fresh air...it will only be for five minutes mind you.... But at least its out for a bit. ! will let you know how I get on with the two of them...... Smile Thanks Holidays I dont know how u manage with a LO and your DP not there, I feel VERY lucky to have mine he is SO helpfull....

I watched that Is breast best on I player yesterday...very interesting, I kinda totally agree that its not just the milk that determines a babies personality, It does also depend on the love and what you provide for them, Although I am still adamant about expressing for as long as I can.... Feel to guilty giving it up yet.... lol...... I do think that Breast feeding helps you bond, but I also think that LOADS of skin to skin and time spent with your baby is just as important...did anyone else watch it. ??

It astounds me the guilt we put ourselves through as women.....

MissyMolly · 19/04/2011 11:06

Totally agree Hippy- I actually had to stop watching the show as I was getting annoyed! The one thing that has amazed me since being pregnant is how judgmental and opinionated people are on anything baby related, although I do think that having twins has helped discourage people giving me too much 'advice' as they haven't had them themselves!

holidays2010 · 19/04/2011 12:46

I went to the shops today. Was feeling apprehensive about how much time id have before theyd get hungry. But i neednt worry as they only stirred when i stopped moving the pram! Once we got in they were awake but happy just sitting in the pram for 10mins,
They will cry unless theyre sitting with me though which is getting abit tiresome. Plus they only like sleeping in my bed! Little mummy's boys! :)

restingkitty · 19/04/2011 15:53

MrsS that is good news - what a relief. Rest well and look after yourself.

MissyMolly, I'm feeling that too. 32 weeks and am getting pretty uncomfortable (the sun is lovely but doesn't really help!). I have no idea about my delivery as MW keeps saying "we'll discuss that nearer the time".....erm.... Am planning just to do my research and write a birth plan myself - and to rock up at the hospital when the time comes with an open mind Smile

Saw the physio yesterday finally about my SPD, I am now the proud owner of a very attractive support belt Grin

hippy3 · 19/04/2011 18:35

holidays have juts seen your above post...I too seem to be having the same problem.... Finn just will not settle unless he is held..... and sleeps in with us.... I just posted on the other thread....

Well done for getting out twice !!

! I went to the postoffice (5 min walk away) and felt quite proud of myself!!
restingkitty that is totally the right attitude.... I kept changing my mind, and in the end it was kinda taken out of my hands anyway....

I ended up with an Elective c sec and honeslty loved the experience..... but its not for everyone. My recovery has been quick and not too bad..... I just wantd what was the least riskiest for the boys, and with ID twins I decided that it was csec....

So many decisions to make...rest up now the next few weeks as I grew by the day during the last while and by 36 weeks couldnt really move !!! enjoy this time of relaxing also.... as soon as they arrive these days will be long forgotten !!!! Smile

crazydayz · 20/04/2011 08:52

Hi all,

Just catching up!
Hippy Congrats on your boys and it sounds like you're coping amazing well!
Mrs S It sounds like you've really been through it emotionally in the last couple of weeks, excellent news about the last scan and fingers crossed for you that everything continues positively.
Restingkitty I'm almost 37 weeks and they still seem quite reluctant to discuss the birth!!

Well I'm still suffering with high BP but not high enough for them to hospitalise me but just being sent to triage at the mat unit every 2 days. I'll be 37 weeks on fri and all looked good on tues at 36 week scan. I'd really like them to induce me asap due to the high bp etc but they won't induce before 37 weeks and as fri-mon is a bank hol weekend they have given me a provisional date of Tuesday! This might not seem long to wait but feels like an eternity!!

Big waves to everyone else.

holidays2010 · 20/04/2011 09:19

Crazy-its good to hear from you! Try to relaxe more and hopefully your bp will fall. i took everything in my stride during pregnancy and labour and the DTs were relaxed too.

MissyMolly · 20/04/2011 10:18

restingkitty and crazydayz are you also both having non-ID twins? I feel I've had very little input from midwife and consultant- it's very much 'everything's fine, see you in a few weeks!' which is great, but I've never really had much idea of what's going on! Confused I wish there was a twins club near me actually but the nearest one is in a different town and I don't drive, and they're in the middle of the day when husband is working so he can't take me. Maybe I should start my own! Grin

restingkitty · 20/04/2011 12:04

It's a relief to know I'm not the only one! Yes, non-ID twins. Last time I saw the sonographer (about 29 wks) she said "when are you next seeing the Dr?" - I said, "I don't know: I haven't seen one yet and there's no appointment in the diary". She looked a bit Hmm but said "oh well.... I suppose if everything's going ok....." I did go to the twins course at the hospital, which was useful - their policy is to aim for VB if possible, so I'm just going to keep it in mind that plan A will prob be a VB.

Crazy - sorry to hear you're suffering but v exciting to have a date for induction. Hopefully you can have plenty of rest and Easter eggs over the weekend!

tiggersreturn · 20/04/2011 21:54

Can I ask a slightly silly question? When you're pregnant with 1 they tell you that you should sleep on your left side because it's better for baby posture, airflow etc. Since I have 2 fused placentas which look like they cover both sides would it make a difference which side I slept on?

holidays2010 · 20/04/2011 23:01

I wouldnt know tigger - i always slept on whatever side hurt the least with both my pregnancies!

DTs are taking forever to sleep tonight. looks like ill be running on 3 hours worth of sleep tomorrow...if im lucky! Hopefully i'll get an early night tomorrow...

MissMolly why dont you start your own twins club? I bet the pregnant women in your area would be glad! Then you also have a support group for after birth too! :)

hippy3 · 21/04/2011 09:23

tigger I agree with holidays, I slept on whatever side hurt the least..... and often I would go to sleep on one side and then wake up on the other..... I wouldnt stress to much about it. You need to get as much sleep as possible, so sleep on whatever side is more comfortable, mind you im no doctor !! x

MorningsMadness · 21/04/2011 11:03

Tigger no official idea but my MW said as long as I sleep on one side that's ok.

tiggersreturn · 21/04/2011 23:52

Thanks - I'll try to remember to ask at my next appointment.

crazydayz · 25/04/2011 09:31

Miss Molly I'm having non id twins also.

Well in for induction in the morning -v scary and exciting all at the same time! I'll be back to update you all as soon as I can! Grin

hippy3 · 25/04/2011 09:57

Looking forward to your news Crazy! Best of luck

silverangel · 26/04/2011 16:08

Hi all,

I'm now 17 +3 with id twins, and starting to look at buggys and wow, the headache!!

Went to John Lewis the other day and was looking at the icandy peach (think it was the peach but it was a twin one anyway), and then the sales lady showed me the Bugaboo Donkey. I really really liked the fact it was side by side and not as cumbersome as the Out 'n' About that I had also been looking at. I thought the icandy was really long, and the carry cots didnt seem as substantial as the Bugaboo ones.

So, ladies with experience, what have you got, what would you reccomend?! I have no other children to worry about buggy boards etc if that makes a difference.

Thanks in advance!

DoubleDiffedDachs · 26/04/2011 19:48

I don't have experience, and I too would welcome feedback, but I compared the icandy peach and pear and the donkey and the donkey ticked all the boxes better for me - you can see the babies in it better and access to them is easier. Plus i measured my door and it fits through ok! So ordered the donkey. It doesn't fold anywhere near as small so you need a car with a decent sized boot for it though. It seems to manoeuvre better than the other tandems I tried. It was exciting playing with them! :) I had concerns about the carrycots on the icandy and although it's long it was not as long as things like the baby jogger city select, but the donkey just ticked more of my boxes.

holidays2010 · 26/04/2011 20:30

Dont know if its suitable for you but i got the cosatto you2twin puschair. It fits through my doors so i like it.

By the way theres a programme on multiple mums on BBC3 at 9pm tonight. i might catch it online tomorrow...try get some sleep... :)

MissyMolly · 26/04/2011 21:10

Thanks for the reminder holidays, had seen it advertised but had forgotten!

Good luck Crazy, let us know how you all are when you are able to! Smile

Well I'm 35+2 and sooooo uncomfortable, bump feels so heavy now, it hurts to do anything really! And I'm still being sick.... which is really hurting my ribs and throat! Honestly my body feels wrecked from my pregnancy, but I am VERY excited about meeting my twinnies, not long now!! Smile

Hope everyone is ok

tiggersreturn · 27/04/2011 20:57

Good luck crazy. Missmolly I hope your time comes soon (but not too soon if you see what I mean)

On the sleeping point the ob said either side is fine - it's just your back or front that's a bad idea.
