Here's the new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
hippy3 · 29/03/2011 17:10

kitty burgled...!!! Thats awfull.

We also have the baby jogger...I LOVE it I tried them all out. Will let you know how it goes once the boys are here, also we bought slings, 2 moby slings from the little possums web site....

Heard some horrific news about a friend literally five minutes ago. She was 22 weeks pregnant and her little girl died last week. And I cant stop crying for her.... I dont think I can talk to her with out crying, and the fact that tomorrow I find out my due date...what would you do? feel just horrible..... Sad

holidays2010 · 29/03/2011 21:07

Welcome redshaw! would someone mind updating the list for redshaw, i cant as im using my phone. Ta x

Hippy - so sorry to hear about your friend.

Kitty - i was burgled when i moved into my place 3yrs ago. It really is upsetting. i lost interest in my 'home' after that and have wanted to move ever since.
I hope they (wankers) didnt take much.
So sorry x

hippy3 · 30/03/2011 18:18

well d day is here.... am off to the hospital overnight. ! c section tomorrow morning.... looks like there has been a slow down in the growth. So they dont wnt to take a risk...everything else is fine though ! I want lots of positive vibes sent out for us tomorrow, and I will be back on here....at some point...guessing I will be in hospital for the next while though !!!! xxx Take care everyone..... Smile

Its all a bit surreal......!! ................ cant believe its actually happening. !

holidays2010 · 31/03/2011 00:29

Yay Hippy! Lots of good vibes and well wishes coming your way!
Make sure you take it easy and dont be afraid to ask for help!

restingkitty · 31/03/2011 08:19

oh wow...thinking of you hippy!! It feels a bit surreal to me being in my third trimester with twins (this is really happening, isn't it...?!) - I can onlt imagine how you feel now. Sending you all the positive vibes! kx

silverangel · 31/03/2011 10:16

Wow Hippy - good luck!

I had my first conultant appointment yesterday, she scanned me again which I wasnt expecting but was a nice surprise and incredible / scary to see how much they've grown in a week already!

I have a question for all you twin mummies re NCT classes - there is no specialist twin class in my area so, would you reccomend doing the regular classes or is most of it irrelevant?

Hope you all have a good day Smile

crazydayz · 31/03/2011 12:13

Hippy Good luck and sending you loads of postive thoughts!

Silverangel I still found NCT classes helpful and they tailor them to include you if you tell them you're expecting twins. I also went to a 2h TAMBA seminar which was excellent.

34 weeks tomorrow and hubby away for a week in Edinburgh from Sun so either need to go into labour in the next 24 hours or please send my twins staying in vibes for a week!

Fluter · 31/03/2011 18:12

Hello, can I join? I'm 10 weeks with (probably) non- ID twins after IVF in January / February, due in October.

Had a bleeding scare this week, but all is ok - the consensus appears to be that I may have busted a blood vessel behind the cervix, which I guess is a bit like a nose bleed, just not somewhere you can pinch it or stuff a tissue up to stop it!

I'm working my way through the thread bit by bit, and learning quite a bit as I go!

holidays2010 · 01/04/2011 01:01

Welcome Fluter and congrats!
I had a scare when i was 5weeks pregnant - that was when i found out i was having twins! Luckily all was well and i went on to have a problem free pregnancy! :)

i wouldnt bother reading the whole thread, upto you really. id only manage the last 5 pages!
Anywho, hoping my boys will allow me a couple hours sleep...so night!

MrsStevo · 01/04/2011 09:27

Big fat BOO! I wrote a post on here yesterday that has disappeared as my computer had a wheezing fit just as I pressed 'post'. Bloody thing!

The general gist was:
kitty - so sorry to hear about the burglary. Did they take much or do much damage? Hope you're ok.

Hippy - I've got everything crossed for you!! Hope your little ones have arrived safely by now. Can't wait to hear from you!

redshaw - Welcome!! I felt much the same as you when I was around 15 weeks (I'm now 19+3 also with MCDAs) and I can assure you that you won't feel like a fraud for much longer!! I 'popped' just after 16 weeks and was told by a midwife friend last night that I look the size of a 28week singleton pregnant-person now!! 'Once you pop, you can't stop' to coin a pringles advert!

crazy - I went to a 2 hour TAMBA seminar a couple of weeks ago too. I'd thoroughly recommend it. If nothing else, it was really nice to meet other twin-mums-to-be in our area and share buggy / bf / sleeping-arrangement tips.

flutter - Welcome to you too!! Big congrats! sorry you've already had a scare though - can't imagine how scary and hideous that must have been. But pleased that all is well for you now!

We deffo need to update the stats, I'll fish the last one out and do my best to update!

MorningsMadness · 01/04/2011 09:28

Welcome Fluter - so many mums are having their twins that those of us still with a long way to go need more company ha ha!

MrsStevo · 01/04/2011 09:39

Right! I hope I've updated it all fairly accurately - don't have much info on Holidays and Cantdrink's babies so have put what I can! Likewise Redshaw and fluter - you can update yours with more info! Anyone heard anything from Tabbycat by the way? I assume she MUST have had hers by now but I couldn't find anything looking back at the thread ... fingers crossed she's ok.

MrsStevo - thanks for updating! Lovely.

Hoping we'll hear from hippy soon, hoping everything is fine. Noone has heard from tabby.

As you can see from the stats Fluter ive already had my twins but i still like hanging around this thread. There is another twins thread in the multiple births section for when youve had your twins.

DoubleDiffedDachs · 02/04/2011 10:09

Hello

Can I join?

#1&2, EDD 5/10/11, Twyford (Berkshire), Non-ID

had 12 week scan last week and everything looked great so am beginning to think that it might actually work out this time :)

Would be great to hang around here and get advice from all you recently delivered twin mums! :)

holidays2010 · 02/04/2011 11:36

Welcome Double (am going to call you DD if thats ok?)
The more the merrier.

i recently had my twin boys so any questions you might have, ask away! :)

There's also a twins club or two in multiple births section in case you wanted to have a gander. :)

crazydayz · 02/04/2011 17:48

Welcome Fluter and Double!

I'm getting a bit scared now as it seems that I will now be at the top of the list - I think we can assume Hippy's are out?

Hospital bag still only half packed as can't decide what I need so any suggestions gratefully received!

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 02/04/2011 20:15

Hi flutter welcome :) and DDD so lovely to see you here can't believe you are already 13 weeks! Any questions shout I am always lurking :)
holls I know what you mean about the thermal cups mine tastes like about shit sometimes! Bleurgh!! I think the tea taints it, doesn't happen with coffee. I am going to Milton mine. Will catch up on the other thread (were we talking about the cups on here or the other thread ???)
crazy there are a few threads on hosp bags, I took flip flops rather than slippers (can wear in the shower), take lots of food! Lucozade or dextrose tablets good for labour if you need a boost. Dry shampoo is useful for after if you cant shower straight away (and for days when babies demands are high) Take a travel change mat for the babes as they will prob pee on you bed/their crib otherwise.
hip hope you are doing well and all went to plan, looking forward to your news! X

holidays2010 · 02/04/2011 21:40

i believe it was this thread magic. i prefer this one anyhow!
I might try that - stilton on the thermo mug.

Re hospital bag, i took cereal bars (not choc. as it will melt), nappies, cotton balls, pads and disposable knickers.
The hospital did provide me with pads, nappies and cotton balls when i was running low though.
As for changing on the bed - they put a type of large pad down on your bed, i just used that to change twins. they'll give you new one if you soil it. Oh and i was given sandwhiches inbetween meals if i got hungry..

Few tips if youre going vaginal delivery - ask them to check your bowels before leaving in case all the pushing has done damage.

I went to QCCH so not sure how other hospitals fair.

MrsStevo · 05/04/2011 19:27

Hi all,

Had 20 week scan today and had some fairly devastating news. Twins have TTTS. Both are still in there at the moment, one is fairly tiny with no room / fluid at all and the other is swimming around with far too much fluid.

I have to go to Birmingham hospital tomorrow for further assessment but will have to have some kind of surgery - either laser to divide the placenta in half or some kind of fluid removal from the amniotic sac around the healthier baby. Both run the risk of causing miscarriage.

Am totally devastated and don't know what to do with myself - neither does DH.

If anyone has any lovely positive news of people having healthy twins after going through this then please share it ... I really don't want to hear anything negative, I've already got that outcome figured out in my head.

Sorry to be doom and gloom. Hope you're all ok.

holidays2010 · 05/04/2011 21:07

MrsStevo i'm so sorry to hear your news. i dont know anyone whos gone through it im afraid but i wish you all the luck and try to be strong.
thinking of you x

strawberrylace · 05/04/2011 21:21

MrsStevo - I'm so sorry to hear your news, you must be in such a state of shock. I'm sorry but I don't know anyone that's had the same thing - perhaps it would be worth having a look on the TAMBA website - they have special support groups including one for TTTS, talkboards and a helpline - 0800 138 0509. Wishing you all the best xx

smokeybacon · 05/04/2011 21:24

Hello fellow twin mums and mums to be. Popping in to see who had had their little bundles. Congratulations to you all!

mrsstevo so sorry to read your news. I can give you a postive story though. There is a family round my area whose twins had TTTS. I don't know them personally but was in church for the twins thanksgiving service. They came through it ok after the surgery. They must be 3 by now. I remember this clearly as I had met the mum in the park when she was heavily pregnant too. They told the TTTS story at the thanksgiving service. I think they can do wonders these days. Stay strong and sending positive vibes your way.

MrsStevo I'm so sorry to hear your news, it must have been a shock. If you haven't already, do contact Tamba or the Multiple Birth Foundation. I spoke to someone recently who said that the MBF had been really helpful with their situation.
I read that quite a lot of ID twins (at least 15%) develop TTTS, so the Drs know so much about it, and can do so much, these days.
Thinking of you all. kitty x
