Lavitabellissima · 11/11/2010 20:57

Hippy my girls are identical but there was a 400g difference between them. To be honest at the moment it's the only way to tell them apart and I've still not taken off there hospital tags! Florence is the smaller twin though but was much more active in the womb.and is far more vocal than her sister Grin

Try not to worry and take it week by week, I am not missing being pregnant though, lovely to eat my dinner and not through it up after!

holidays2010 · 12/11/2010 08:11

Glad to hear you're doing well Lavita and Smokey. :)

Sorry to hear about your OH Amberc. My OH was better with my first pregnancy, but it soon finished when he walked into my flat after I had come home from the hospital with DD1 and told me I should clean the flat....despite me telling him I nap when the baby naps because I'm so damn exhausted!

This time round if I tell him "I'm feeling breathless today" he just says "well you are carrying two" Or the less popular "Well you asked for it, you wanted to get pregnant" !!
Shock

Tbh though I cant fend off feeling lazy if I dont do as much housework as I used to! If I'm sitting by the PC knowing I could be ironing I just feel lazy for not getting up and pulling out the ironing board and doing it!

I think I'll see how much stamina I have for chores and once I feel I cant do them I'll just tell him and he'll have to lump it. He's already accepted I wont cook dinner for him and DD1 every night, if I tell him he'll have to do his own - he does. :P

Cerubina · 12/11/2010 08:49

I just had a bit of a shaky start to the day when I fell over in a shop - the heel of my shoe just glided away from me and down I went in no time flat. It was so quick I can't even remember how I fell but am fairly sure it was not on my tummy as my elbow and knee are hurting and nothing else is. Now I can't stop crying! They're going to be OK aren't they?

VictoriaSecrets · 12/11/2010 09:28

Hey cerubina - try not to worry - they are mega protected in there (pregnant ladies go through car accidents etc. without any harm to the babies)...

If you are really worried you could call up and ask for a reassurance scan, but i honestly think everything will be fine.

have a read of this

really hope you feel better soon :) :)

Congrats to Lavita and Smokey with babies at home - but i bet you must be shattered!!

Holidays - It might be that your OH changes how he is being the more pregnant you look? I don't know, I think some men just deal with things in different ways. To be honest though, if you don't feel like doing the housework, don't bother- the world will keep turning - i'd just focus on you for a while, and if anyone complains about it they know where the iron/vac/duster is :)

Amberc · 12/11/2010 10:06

Ooh - Hoidays - my DP said 'you wanted to get pregnant' too and I almost hit him!

Cerubina - you'll be fine - I fell down the stairs with DS and all was OK. They are so padded and protected. I was worried about mine when DS kept jumping on me and that's what the MW said. She said it would need to be a direct punch or an impact which might hurt them.

Lavita - I love Florence! What's the other one's name?

OP posts:
holidays2010 · 12/11/2010 10:30

Currently stretching over the iron board to type this :P
I had to do it, it was calling me!

Cerubina - I fell backwards from the top of the bath (I was hanging up the washing as OH has put a line above it) and hurt my bum but nearly smacked my head on the toilet! Luckily though I didnt hit my stomach. I second the reassurance scan idea if you're worried but I do think you'll they'll be fine! :)

Amberc - If I wasnt carrying twins I would have agreed with my OH on that comment because I did badger him for ages wanting another child but as I'm carrying two I cant take all the blame! :o

Oh after my fall everytime I go out my OH says "Don't fall over" or "Be careful" I think it scared him when I told him I fell but he's not one to show it.

holidays2010 · 12/11/2010 10:33

Oh has anyone else been feeling dehydrated?
I dont think I've drank so muh liquid as I have since being pregnant. I'm almost always feeling the need for a refreshment.

holidays2010 · 12/11/2010 10:33

much* typo...I need a new keyboard...

Cerubina · 12/11/2010 12:51

Thank you all for the reassurance (and Victoria for the link). I do feel better for it, and it was not a terribly heavy fall so with luck they are oblivious to any drama! I was going to ask my midwife to listen for heartbeats next week anyway and will make sure I do now. Also am going to wear trainers for walking to and from work for the extra grip (those shoes have such a low heel they're almost flat, but evidently still aren't that stable on a slippy floor).

To those who aren't getting enough support from their OHs, in this situation I think you just have to do what you can but don't push yourselves. Maybe slightly lower your cleanliness standards (and hope that they will crack before you do!) and praise yourself for being amazing and capable. It doesn't bear thinking about how much of a song and dance men would make if they had to carry babies - if they don't realise how brilliant their wives are for doing it then tell yourself regularly!

Stretch marks - I am using a variety of things every day on my stomach, and occasionally on my breasts and thighs. I've got some bio-oil, and a few things I've been given like Neal's Yard balm, Body Shop brazil nut butter and a lovely anti-stretch mark cream. So I'm pretty well catered for. I tend to believe that they will come if you're predisposed to it so probably can't be avoided, but also that making sure the skin is nice and moisturised will help with comfort anyway when it starts to expand and you may as well do something.

Hippy enjoy Wales this weekend and I'm glad you feel so reassured after your appointment. Hearing the heartbeats must be brilliant!

Holidays I drink a lot of water anyway (at least 3 litres a day I would guess, plus a couple of cups of tea) - I was actually told by my m/w at the booking in appointment that I was drinking too much - which I didn't think was even possible unless you were skulling silly quantities! She said no more than 2 litres a day and I think the reason was that too much can put a strain on your kidneys. Not sure how convinced I am as I think being well hydrated is important, but I am trying not to overdo it now.

What's everyone up to for the weekend? We are going to see my parents tomorrow (they only live about 90 mins away) and otherwise have the weekend clear. It looks as though it might be a bit grim on Sunday again so could be a good day to mooch around the house. Never a problem for me but my husband gets bored!

SpannerPants · 12/11/2010 16:05

Hi, I'm Anna, didn't realise that I needed to post here rather than the other twins one!

I found out today from a very early scan that I'm pregnant with twins - dated as 5 weeks today. It's my first pregnancy so I'm very nervous about everything. I've got a repeat scan in 2 weeks.

Amberc · 12/11/2010 16:47

COngrats Spannerpants and welcome!

Cerubina - I have my friend coming tomorrow afternoon to spend some time with my DS as she is my emergency contact should I go into labour early and I need someone to look after him. Then on Sunday I have another friend and her family for Sunday lunch which will be nice. We don;t normally have this much on the agenda to be honest!

Went to the GP today for a routine 37 week check up. She measured my bump 'just to see' and I'm measuring 51 weeks! As DH pointed out, that's like being a year pregnant Shock

6 days til induction but I really hope they come sooner. Wonder if Jenz has sprogged yet....

Welcome spanner! 5 weeks, wow. I was 13 weeks before I found out there were two of them but it's a shock no matter how early. Good shock though - I couldn't be happier that we're going to have two babies in the house in a week Grin

Hi spanner / Anna - welcome! crikey - your situation is exactly the same as mine was - complete shock to be told having twins, but much nicer than having an ectopic :) I'm now about 13 and a half weeks so not too far ahead of you really - shout if you have any questions, and read through all the posts on this forum, the previous one (think you've already found it) and i've also set one up about C-section V's VB under the childbirth forum (although that one's a bit further down the line for us!)

Swazzee - your post made me laugh at loud - one of the first things I did when I found out was google twin belly pictures, i can definitely visualise the 51 week belly - i bet you can't wait to meet them now!

jjkm - cracking news about the babies! i bet her being sleepy has been quite nice for you too :). They seem to be growing pretty well - I can't believe how quickly time is flying either - although some days I find myself just wishing the months away to get to meet them!

with the stretch mark thing/ pelvic floor etc I'm just going to try and fit it in when i can and hope for the best, but not stress too much if I miss a day or two. will worry about that later!

Going to see Beauty and the Beast tomorrow as my OH is performing in the show - i've seen it once and it was great, but going with his parents and brother tomorrow which should be nice :)

x

Jenzopos · 13/11/2010 09:40

swazee I'm still here and massive! Babies breech and transverse..twin 2 has tried to turn and got wedged on top of twin 1. Was booked for a cs Friday but it was cancelled due to emergencies so I have to wait till Monday (but no guarantees ...might end up being an emergency myself!

holidays I drink loads of water...can't see how you are drinking too much..if you are thirsty drink I'd say! As far as the fall goes..get your oh to do jobs where you risk falling..no climbing!

smokeybacon · 13/11/2010 15:58

jenzopos all the best for monday. Get as much sleep as you can in the meantime. Not long now till you meet your LOs.

swazee fingers crossed for you too. I measured 45 weeks 2 days before I had my DTs, and I thought I was big. So am impressed with your 51. Anyway, you'll soon be able to bend in the middle again. And it feels great!

jjkm glad to hear your girls are doing good. I think about you often as it can't be easy.

magic8 are you taking iron supplements.
? I was told that a lack of iron can give you restless legs and so I started taking it (my consultant told me too aswell) and it did make a difference.

Hello to the newbies. May you all have uneventful pregnancies! Tis all worth it < gazes wistfully at my sleeping DTs in front of me now>

We're doing ok. Milk came in last night. Cue big shaking and sweating . Not a pleasant side effect at all. Boys lost a bit of weight but nothing alarming. Thank goodness we have been topping up with a bit of formula every feed, or I dread to think how hungry they would be.Nature is cruel to make babies wait for that milk!

Swazzee · 13/11/2010 19:22

Ah smokey so glad to hear that about being able to bend in the middle again. I can't tell you how much I miss being able to put on socks and get up easily from the sofa!

Jenz that must have been so frustrating to think you were going to have them on Friday and then have to wait til Monday. I'm dying for them to come out now and hoping if I last til the induction on Thursday that it all comes quite quickly then. Good luck for Monday.

Oh god. I had no idea that your milk coming in was painful... I thought the pain stopped after the birth Shock

Lavitabellissima · 13/11/2010 23:35

jenzopos good luck for monday, i'll be thinking about you Smile it's so worth it!

I am so in love with my girls, I will try and write up my birth story asap, it's hard to find the time Smile

My girls are called Vivienne Siena (5lb7) & Florence Sofia (4lb9) Grin

Pins and needles in your nipples too Blush

Jenzopos · 14/11/2010 00:06

yes frustrating day Friday as i was in hospital from 8am...starved from the night before (nil by mouth), got put on a drip cos i was dried out then got told at 2.30 it was cancelled!

SpannerPants · 14/11/2010 07:29

So much for no sickness - I've been awake since 5am with nausea and have almost been sick 3 times so far. I think constantly feeling like you're going to be sick is much worse than actually being sick!

I'm changing jobs to something much more intense with nights and long shifts (I'm a dr) in 2 weeks and I'm really worried about how I'm going to cope! I'm only 5+2 and have had to have 2 days off already, I feel so guilty :(

Amberc · 14/11/2010 11:06

Lavita - stunning names! Of those who have sprogged, are you getting the babies to sleep together?

jjkm - so glad to hear the babies are doing well Smile

Yes nature is a bit mad with the milk thing isn't it. Apparently babies have anough fat reserves to wait for it but it does seem that they are starving!

OP posts:
holidays2010 · 14/11/2010 11:28

Cerubina - I've never heard of drinking too much water! ...I'd get a second opinion on that one! :)

I just got back from my flat to my OH's place and he's left the sink full of dishes for me and I have to put all the washing away but over the last two days I've started to notice just how tired I am.
I rang him and he laughed saying I can do the dishes for him but I'm seriously considering not bothering, I'll just put the washing away. :o

I'm not as worried about what he will or wont do, because he wont have a choice.
I cant believe I'm only 23 weeks but already feeling the wieght of my bump! I was rather hoping I could make it to 30 weeks before I found anything very tiring! :)

Amberc · 14/11/2010 11:48

So holidays do you not live together then?
