Here's the new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Magic8ballhastheanswers · 25/03/2011 20:51

cerub it's great to hear from you. I am glad that all is going well & you are managing to feed them (yes it is ouchie for a while!!) Rooming in sounds so promising and the final hurdle before the home coming!

Good luck with the move snow take it easy won't you?!

I bet you are pleased to be home crazy rest as much as you can these last few weeks. Keeping my fx your bp stays down.

Jenzopos · 25/03/2011 21:58

I think you can use things like menthol, vicks ect (I got told i could use vick nasal sticks by a gp once). The other good thing is steam! COuld try hot honey and lemon (It doesnt have quite the kick minus the whisky but worth a try!)

Jenzopos · 25/03/2011 22:01

hippy the red books are a record book and contain growth charts and logs for midwife and health visitors to use as well as immunization charts and all your paperwork for all the checks. I used permanent marker and wrote each baby's name on it to make it easier to check which book was being filled in for which baby!

MorningsMadness · 25/03/2011 22:13

Congrats all - hippy, how on earth have you managed no stretch marks???

MrsStevo · 25/03/2011 23:02

Hellllo all!

I have been lurking for a while but reading all your posts with interest - you're all so much further on than me that I can't relate to a lot of the stuff you're saying yet, but I know the next couple of months will fly by and everything you're talking about now will make sense!

I'm 18 + 3 now and already feel fairly huge! No movement yet which I'm looking forward to feeling but I'm being scanned every 2 weeks so I know they are wriggling around. So amazing to see them!

Just trying to make decisions about nursery furniture etc at the mo and PRAMS too! Ugh! Think we have settled on the Baby Jogger City Select - anyone else got that and have any positive or negative views on it?

I'm rehearsing for a musical at the moment (Oklahoma!) and although I'm only an ensemble part, I'm exhausted! The show opens on Tuesday and runs for 2 weeks - fortunately I've taken the second week off work so should be able to keep well rested.

Hope you're all keeping well and have a fab weekend x x

holidays2010 · 26/03/2011 09:36

Hippy my twins movement slowed too toward the end but i knew it was due to lack of room. Just follow your instincts and you'll be fine!

im using my phone and bf'ing twins and talking to DD so forgive me for forgetting who asked me about my labour but at around 7am saturday i was recorded as being 4cms dilated, went to labour ward and gave birth the next day at 12.53 and 1.30pm. But my labour was alot longer than expected because my contractions werent regular, twin 1 turned his head slightly and he wasnt far down enough and apparently my cervix - whilst it was very 'stretchy' i was stuck on 7cms when the dr massaged the cervix back and just told me to push on the contractions.

Good luck to those yet to drop and congrats to cerub, sounds like youre doing amazingly.

Jenzopos · 26/03/2011 09:43

My sister has a baby jogger and I have to say I really prefer my nipper 360...much easier to push and doesn't feel as heavy!

I'd say as far as nursery stuff goes look on freecycle and ebay for some real bargains. I got a cot for 20 quid and a change station for 20 quid so can save you a fortune! Charity shops are also a great place to look to save a fortune as stuff is often in new condition at much lower prices :)

hippy3 · 26/03/2011 19:40

Hi ladies...I am in AGONY !!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have piles. I had them at around 20 weeks and they dissapeared but they seem to have come back with a VENGANCE !!! Its killing me..I was crying earlier... and I feel like an idiot. cant even sit on my bum....! so am trying to sit on my sides but both my hips are sore from lying on my sides at night !!! oh the joys...... Howvere am TOTALLY convinced that they will be here in the next few days, I have been having period type pains on and off for the last few days. am 35 weeks tomorrow...so what will be will be now.

holls thank you for your advice on my other post, am going for the csec. Am ok with that, just nice to have a final decision...if my notes say I want to try for a VB but I explain when im there that Ive changed my mind they cant say no to a csec can they???? I wouldnt imagine so, i have clinic again weds but Im just thinking if I go before that....... also am not worrying too much about the movement I still feel them every day, just not as much..its a different kind of movement... Your right you need to listen to your body. a
As long as I feel them everyday i am not too worried about it......

Have any of you rang the MBF?? I had to phone them yesterday and found them SOOOOO helpfull. spoke to a MW there who specialises in multiple births...just very impressed.

cerub was wondering how u were all getting on !!! you sound like you are doing a brilliant job, and I bet you cannot wait to get home...will be thinking of you. Smile

morning I think Im just lucky. My mum didnt get any, when she was preg with all 3 of us... I have ued bio-oil every morning, and honestly although my bump is MASSIVE i havent really put any weight on anywhere else. I am just lucky I guess.....mind you IF i go for another couple of weeks...you never know.

snowfalls my sinus are totally blocked so much so that my DP has taken to sleeping on the sofa, as I am loudly snoring. Blush hope this goes once they are born...I wake myself up sometimes!!

Right this is a long post, im off for a nice long bath and to eat my dinner ......x take care and will keep you posted......xxxx Smile cant believe its nearly d day. !

holidays2010 · 26/03/2011 21:45

Hippy its great that youve come to a decision and are happy with it. glad to see how relaxed you are being - keep it up!
Sorry about your piles, ive got something from all that pushing - haemrodes (sp) maybe. Will have to go dr..ugh. Really not looking forward to that. wish theyd checked at the hospital but oh well.

Good luck anyway hippy!

hippy3 · 28/03/2011 10:03

DP and I phoned the hospital and they said to come in strait away...turned out to be nothing Blush but did get to hear the babies heart beats for a good half hour nice and steady and strong.

holidays2010 · 28/03/2011 13:05

i dont know where all the pregnant twin mums are...hippy you maybe the only one left that we hear from!

hippy3 · 28/03/2011 13:42

where we going after here????? thats what I want to know......Smile

holidays2010 · 28/03/2011 16:25

I assume you mean thread wise? if so ~ Multiple births » twins club. i'd give the link but cant - using mobile. But it's in multiples anyway.

Snowfalls108 · 28/03/2011 18:21

I'm still here!!!

crazydayz · 28/03/2011 19:06

I'm still here too!
Hippy sounds like it won't be long for you! Let us know on Wed when d-day is!!

My hubby is away next week in Edinburgh so no contractions for me please until the 9th April or he'll have to do a mad dash home!

Snowfalls The time goes so fast it will be your turn before you know it!

Ladies that have already given birth is there anything you're really glad you purchased for your twins or wished you had and anything that we don't need to bother with? Also do I need matress protectors for the cot mattresses?

hippy3 · 28/03/2011 19:38

crazy I bought mattress protectors but then discovered that the mattress came with its own protector...! and Yep I did mean thread wise.....x Ill find it on the multiple births thread when I need too...xx Thank you.

OBEM tonight has triplets on.... I will be glued as always. Think its the last one tonight ! Sad

holidays2010 · 28/03/2011 23:21

So sorry crazydays and snowfalls! Glad you're still sticking with us!

i wish i'd bought a sling or something because on a few occassions one twin or the other has just wanted holding and not to be put down! So a sling would be great to leave you hands free so you can carry on with whatever you need to do.
Also a baby rocker...i think the vibration of one would help settle them...otherwise you have to rock them yourself (again limiting your time for other things).
if you can offord it (and intend to bf) get a bf'ing pillow.
Oh and make sure your sofa is comfy, ive got serious butt ache from having to sit so much for bf'ing!
And of course a pram. Let me know what you intend to buy. I still havent found one!

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 28/03/2011 23:28

Hippy mothercare sell a cold pack called femme pad which may help with your farmers as there is not much you can take but paracetamol will help with the pain. You can also get moist wipes (Germaloids/Prep H). Glad you are ok now, exciting that you will get your date on Wed :)
Crazy big yes to the mattress protectors for the cots (you can get water proof cot sheets in ikea fairly cheap), think leaky nappies and lots of spit up! I would recommend maternity mats too for those getting on in their pregnancies...........my waters broke in bed, luckily I had the mats! As for gem purchases, we were kindly bought a Cosatto changing station which we have downstairs - best thing we have as all the baby bits are contained in the unit and not all over the house and it have saved our backs as we haven't had/wont have to bath them or change countless nappies on the floor. Swaddle blankets have been a godsend too, they settle well once swaddled, must be as they were so squished in me!

OBEM - bless little William so teeeny. Sad the series has ended.
Right I should really go to bed while the girls are quiet!!!!

holidays2010 · 28/03/2011 23:28

As for mattress protectors i bought one but it turned out its not suitable for newborns...plus the mattress already has a cover...but no i dont think you need one anyhow.

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 28/03/2011 23:30

Ooooo and get one of those thermos mugs so you get to drink a cup of warm tea/coffee! And they have a lid which makes it easier when you are drinking a hot drink while bfing.

holidays2010 · 29/03/2011 00:04

I should probably start using my thermo mug for all my teas and coffees but it has a funny taste to it...i've washed it countless times but it still tastes odd.... :s

redshaw01 · 29/03/2011 14:51

yo! 15+2 with mcda id twins and scared witless. all i do is giggle about it, not very productive. not really showing either yet so feel like a fraud! Confused

hippy3 · 29/03/2011 14:57

redshaw welcome... dont worry I spent the first few weeks in denial, and scared.....x youll get lots of support from this thread.

magic will get my partner to do a trip to mothercare later this eve for me..... I cant manage this at all....... !! ive been pretty much sympton free throughout as well.....

ill be checking in tomorrow ot let you know my date for deff. !!! EXCITING !!! Smile

restingkitty · 29/03/2011 16:32

hippy how exciting, good luck!

mrsstevo we've also ordered the baby jogger...haven't got it yet but it just looked a lot more practical than the icandy (which is what we were intending to buy!). I've heard good things about it.

We got burgled this weekend...which is another stress we definitely don't need after all the moving house stress Sad Very upsetting. But I also had a growth scan at the end of last week and the twins are growing really well.

Take care everyone, kitty

restingkitty · 29/03/2011 16:35

ps hi redshaw - I started to feel the twins move sometime between 16 and 17 weeks - I promise you won't feel like a fraud then!! congratulations
