Aw thanks hippy, dont worry your time will come - then you'll be missing the quiet days of pregnancy! ;)

I will try update once theyre born but might not get a chance for a while, either way good luck to anyone else who drops whilst im gone :D

hippy3 · 04/03/2011 12:46

Have just discovered I have SPD.

My va jay jay has been so sore the last few weeks, I thought it was just the pressure from the babies on me..but turns out its SPD. And it hurts like hell.... and Ive been trying to ignore it the last while, except that the last week I havent been able to turn over in bed and stuff without being in pain .

Have physio on wednesday..thank goodness..apparently there are exercises that you can do to help, although nothing will get rid of it. word of advice I would report any pains or niggles to your midwife. I have had this for weeks and didnt say anything as thought it was just something that happens... probably could have got this sorted ages ago.

Oh the joys of pregnancy !! at least now I know what it is...

Hope all goes well for Holidays today and it's not too long a wait for things to get going.

hippy sorry to hear you have SPD. I lived in dread of getting it but was fortunate. Don't do any heavy lifting or indeed anything at all as part of your house move! Let others do it all, just direct them from the sofa. Has your midwife said if it's likely to make a difference to how you deliver? I have heard it can be better to deliver on your side rather than standing/lying and you need to be careful not to cause further damage with your legs wide apart? Sounds difficult to manage when you need your legs apart to get the baby out. Hope you can get physio very quickly and regain some more comfort.

Thanks for the lovely comments and glad everyone seems to like the names, they have gone down well in real life too. We wanted to go for something quite uncommon but not wacky, which I think we did - Rosamund was the 3031st most popular name in the UK in 2009! Sebastian a lot more popular at number 62 but we felt it went really well with Rosamund.

Good news from the hospital today that Seb has been moved out of intensive care into high dependency, which is still a grade higher than Rosie but going in the right direction. He's taking quite a lot of milk and I am having to really go for it to keep up with demand. Have had a Medela hospital grade pump delivered to home today so I can hopefully ramp up the production now.

Unfortunately I have picked up a cold and haven't been allowed in to see them since Tuesday afternoon which is so hard. All I want to do is see them and hold them, and this has coincided with the arrival of tearfulness so I spend half my time weeping at the moment. It is very annoying that I went through the whole pregnancy without picking up so much as a sniffle, despite it being an autumn/winter pregnancy, and as soon as they are born and I can see them and hold them, I come down with this. I hope tomorrow I might be allowed back in but obviously it doesn't make any sense to expose them to anything avoidable so my feelings are a lot less important than that.

Anyway, I should follow my own advice and do some resting now since I still have half an hour before I have to express again. Take care.

MissyMolly · 04/03/2011 17:14

cerub you are doing so so well, your twins are beautiful and what gorgeous names!! It must be so hard not being able to see them but as you say, they're in the best hands. Hope you get better soon and get some rest!

holidays thinking of you and hope everything has gone well today, looking forward to reading future update!

hippy that sounds very painful, make sure you take it very easy during your move

hippy3 · 04/03/2011 18:04

cerub ...that is GREAT news about your little man.... am delighted. told you they are going to be total fighters...xx Your TOTALLY right not to go in if you have a cold, and the crying part is completely normal. I will be a total mess, im emotional anyway. !

My DP has done ALL the lifting today and has managed to move a huge amount of stuff on his own. I could kiss him... and has not let me do anything...Smile I have offered to cook him dinner this eve, which I havent done for AGES as he has been doing it. So I have said he is to go and get some beers and he can play on the x box.... For as long as he wants !! he is delighted with himself.... (have just realised I sound like a nazi...Im not just HATE the x box.._).

Cannot wait to be in properly tomorrow.... I can get their room organised... LOVE the new place, am so excited feel like i can finally relax once this is done.

Wonder how holls is?????

holidays2010 · 05/03/2011 10:08

Hello ladies! what is SPD?? I get some pain turning over at night...

ok ok im still pregnant, but sitting on labour ward as i type! twins maybe here by tonight!

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 05/03/2011 21:38

Cerub!! I have been meaning to get on here to see what was happening!! They told me you were in when I got there on Sunday morning but everything happened so quickly & I didn't get a chance to come find you even after I came back up onto the ward! It must have been so frightening for you but I am so glad that all is well! Great news that Seb has been moved to HD and Rosie is doing well (love the names). Glad your pump has arrived, your milk will help them so much and lol at dripping milk! Big hugs, the tearfulness is all part and parcel of it and I know it must be dreadfully hard while you have a cold. I hope you are well enough to see them tomorrow. Please keep us posted. xxxxxxxxxx

What's happening holidays?????????????????

Hippy I feel for you with the spd, I had physio & they gave me a support but I found it just too uncomfortable to wear so just had to put up with it :( Try and avoid stair climbing as much as possible (in my case was an absolute nightmare as we have a downstairs bathroom).

Not had a chance to tell you my little birth tale & my girlies are waking from their slumber for the next feed so my services are required.......here is a little photo of them Magic8s Twin girls

Cerubina · 06/03/2011 11:34

They are adorable Magic! Your heart must melt when you see them together like that. They also look massive to me! Mine are so tiny, they are dwarfed by the little toys we have bought them Sad Smile.

I'm feeling better today, I am going to present myself at the hospital and ask if they are happy for me to see and cuddle them. It is 5 days now since I last saw them, and they are only a week old Sad. It is quite hard to get to grips with the stuff that has happened in a week, our lives have been transformed and there is a lot to process.

Both of them are now taking 7ml of milk every hour, which means I need to produce 40mls+ each session just to keep up! I managed 60ml this morning for the first time so hopefully this will become achievable but I think the nurses have had to dip into the donated milk store now and again to get enough to give them. The good thing about expressing is the license to eat pretty much whatever you want, but it's a full time job to eat, sleep and express so well done to everyone who's also providing the physical care to their twins as well. It'll be a shock to me when I have to do that too!

Seb's breathing is also coming on well, and he is having quite long intervals off the breathing apparatus altogether so he is getting stronger.

Can't wait to hear an update from holidays...

hippy3 · 08/03/2011 08:07

Hi just using my do phone checking in cerub sounds like everything is going ok for u and yes it is a huge amount to take in. Even if everything had gone to plan it would still be a lot to take in. I'm fine moved in love the new place have everything kinda set up now... Wonder how hills is sorry bout the spelling mistakes am not very good on this phone thing . Xx take care every one .... Will n on again in a couple of days x

MrsStevo · 08/03/2011 13:08

WOW! Haven't been on here for a while and there has been so much exciting news. HUGE congratulations cerub - sorry to hear that birth wasn't entirely straightforward, but so lovely to hear that Seb is improving. They are both gorgeous and I love the names!!! Fingers crossed you kick your cold pronto and can get back in to see them - can't imagine how hard and frustrating it must be for you.

Magic8 - your pic made me cry. SO gorgeous. BIG congratulations to you and your small people. I may have missed it, but have they got names yet?

Holidays - looking forward to hearing your news! Quite frankly I think it is rude how long you are making us wait though, clearly your priorities are all wrong. It should be - 1. Have Babies. 2. Update Mumsnet with news of babies. 3. Update Mumsnet with photos of babies 4. Cuddle babies. 5. Feed babies Wink Only joking of course and hope you're all doing really well!

I am 16 weeks today ... still aggggggeeeessss to go. STILL don't really have a bump, no symptoms and no movement. But my DH bought be a doppler which has been SUCH a re-assurance.

If I may pick your brains quickly - what are your plans / what are you already doing in respect of sleeping babies? I am eyeing up the 'Arms Reach Co-Sleeper' cot that attaches to the side of our bed for both to sleep in for the first 6ish months. Does anyone have any thoughts for or against this? what are you all doing?

Hope you're all really well! x x x

Amberc · 08/03/2011 14:25

I haven't been on in ages either - congrats Magic and Cerubina! Holidays hope all is good with you and what's happened to Tabby?

All is OK in twinland here. Hard work with my little boy too and he's missing out a bit but tries to be helpful putting the dummies in etc bless him! When they cry he goes over and says 'don't worry, I'm here your brother' Smile (he's 2 and a half). They are 8 weeks now and just started smiling this week which is adorable. It's a good job really as I have been having 1 or 2 hours of sleep per night only and it was about time they gave something back, the monsters. I have frankly never been this tired in my life but hoping things will get easier soon.

Hope everyone is well and looking forward to their arrivals. PS the Baby Jogger City Mini twin is the best pushchair ever and all the other mums have been commenting on how easy it is!

Magic that pic is gorgeous!

Hippy I'm sorry to hear about the SPD. I'm also having niggles in that dept; I shall take your advice and mention it to the MW. I don't think our house move helped either!

MrsStevo our (vague) plans re sleeping are for them to share a cot in our bedroom for the first 6 ish months. Not attached to the bed, just a standard cot in the corner!

Hope everyone is well. The twins are rather excitable today....probably something to do with all the mini eggs I've eaten Blush

HalleLouja · 09/03/2011 12:54

Cerubina me without twins here. Congrats. Lovely names though still prefer Rumpole and Kavanagh. DS was 6 weeks early and at nearly 3 you could never guess!! Fingers crossed they come home soon.

hippy3 · 09/03/2011 19:29

Am using do phone again so apologies ,
Now have disgusting support belt thing from physio

I am also using a cot for the first while for them to sleep in
And delighted with what u said bout baby jogger as I bought that pram 2 weeks ago and have to say although I haven't used it with the babies yet it is so easy to put up and down and is so light I did lots of research and tried lots out and that was by far my favourite.

Come on hills how r u all doing thinking bout you x

I'll check in again soon hate using this Phone thing cant wait too b back online in a week or so. .....

holidays2010 · 11/03/2011 13:59

Ok im back, had two beatiful boys on sunday, they are so adorable!
But didnt latch on breast so have jaudice now, one is ok, other twin has it a bit worse. good news is they have (on and off) been latching on and sucking, at the mo though only one twin has finally got the hang of it!
finding life with twins and singleton ok, dealing well with 3 hours sleep a night too! and thats not 3 straight hours either!
also been topping boys up with formula and hand expressing my milk.

well better go - just got boys to sleep now its time for a late lunch and back to feeding (3 hourly on the dot due to jaudice)

hope youre all well, wosh i could just paste this overvto the miltiples twins club! (using my phone)

glad you are all doing well, all your little ones are fighters and hope they are home soon!

this year has been awful for colds...my girls have had about 4 already!

Just started controlled crying and it seems to be working...Anna just goes to sleep no probs but Charlotte has been stealing my evenings for too long...glad to have evenings back but its been tough..glad I was on hols and had other family members to start it (as I was in tears the first night so i they had to turn the monitor off so i could not hear her!)

Cant tandem feed anymore as Anna fusses too much...hoping i can again once they can hold themselves up better

fantastic news holidays, congratulations! Hopefully the sleeping and feeding will settle down soon. Sounds like you are doing really well so far, glad you are all ok!

Adorable picture jenz Smile

holidays2010 · 14/03/2011 15:07

Thanks restingkitty. Both are bfing now, sometimes they get fussy latching on but usually if i change their position or which breast theyre on they latch on ok.
I didnt realise how expensive those twin pillows are, seems abit much.
Good news is the boys jaudice seems better, just two days by the window has done wonders!
Hope everyone else is well too?

Jenzopos · 14/03/2011 15:57

Sooo tired..girls going 4-5 hours during day between feeds (keep trying to reduce gap but to no avail) then Anna feeds every 3 hours at night and lottie every 4-4.5 hours...zzzzz so tiring!
assuming I'm hitting a growth spurt as they used to go 5-6 hours!
arrgh!

holidays2010 · 14/03/2011 18:36

Jenz how old are your girls?
My midwife has said i can stop waking mine at night every 3hours because their jaudice has cleared, so just let them wake on their own, but im not sure? Theyre 8 days old today.

Jenzopos · 14/03/2011 20:52

they are 4 months old

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 14/03/2011 22:31

Congratulations Holidays on the arrival of your boys Smile Glad they are over their jaundice, my girls are still tanned looking - wish it would go, will leave them by the window tomorrow! The midwife is coming again on Wed so will see what she says. Can't believe they are 2 weeks already!

Jenz I love the pics! So cute Grin I hope you get a good nights sleep tonight.

Big wave to everyone!

holidays2010 · 14/03/2011 23:08

Hey Magic! The daylight will work a treat.
:)
How are you finding life with twins?

Cantdrinkanymoremilk · 16/03/2011 08:17

Is it my imagination, or have we had a mad rush of new twins?

My news is that I had mine on 1 March, 9.30am! It was an emergency c-section at 34 weeks so very scary, but my little girl and boy are doing brilliantly - they were small when born (3lb 4oz / 4lb 3oz) so they need to stay in hospital to fatten up and learn to breastfeed consistently, but they only needed a couple of days in incubators and have breathed on their own since birth.

They're so beautiful, we can't get enough of just sitting looking at them. We were very nervous handling them at first, but after lots of feeding, changing and bathing, we're getting the hang of it! They're an absolute miracle to us, they really are.

On the night it all happened, we watched OBEM (the twins one!) and went to bed, but I was really uncomfortable and had stomach cramps very low down at the front - I didn't feel great, and thought I'd picked up a gastric bug. By 4.00am and hours of walking around trying to feel better, my back was aching as well - didn't think I was in labour as no show, or waters, but phoned the hospital anyway... they said "yes, you should come in - come in NOW"... eek.

Hooked up to monitors that showed I was having contractions and several cm dilated - and when the registrar did an internal, she felt a foot poking through where it shouldn't! My little boy turned out to be a footling breech - he'd kicked right through his sac and into the neck of the womb, but plugged the hole with his foot so no leaking.

Everything went very fast from there - I was extremely distressed and panicky, it came as such a huge surprise that we were going to have them, and so early. I was in shock for hours, freezing cold and shaking - lots of hospital staff talking to me, but I don't think I was really hearing them. The whole thing was pretty traumatic, tbh - but the babies are WONDERFUL, and that's the important thing. You really do start to forget the difficult part very quickly.

Being a mum is amazing. I hope you're all doing well out there! x
