just an update. we have gone ahead with the new flat. And we can move in from the beginning of March. My DP and I decided that we can loose the money my sanity is more important. Smile

We have roped friends and family in to do the packing and cleaning !

Had an appointment with a consultant anethetist this morning, to discuss possible options for pain relief. I said I would like to give birth vaginally, with gas and air. He says they recommend a spinal block and an epidural with twins...I knew he was going to say this. !!
I told him I DEFF do not want a general anesthetic, or pethedine.... but that I also realise that all of this could be taken out of my hands depending on the position of the babies.... has anyone else thought about what they are going to do??? all seems a little bit daunting now.... Hmm

cerubina you getting any peace, I am being kicked from everywhere all the time !
morning how did the tests go????

holidays2010 · 09/02/2011 13:39

Haven't heard from Tabby in a while, wonder how things are going?

I have one more booked appointment with the hospital - on 21st, then I have no idea what's happening. No one has spoken to me about delivery options or run through what to expect or anything! Quite disappointed really, I thought Queen Charlotte's was meant to be a good hospital (that's what I've heard and read) yet no one has spoken to me about anything and I could go into labour any week now!

They do have a serious lack of midwives there though - I always have to wait at least an hour before I can see anyone when I go, last time I was there for 2hours and I still had to have another blood test done but I just couldn't wait another hour so went home, apparently I can do the test next time I go.

Well that's my rant over, going back to doing nothing...I'm going to miss being pregnant! Grin

smokeybacon · 09/02/2011 13:41

Just wondering if there was any news from Tabbycat as she must be due about now?

Have been lurking but on phone so will post more later when on the laptop.

MrsStevo · 09/02/2011 14:40

morningmadness - so sorry about your situation after your NT. Where are you at with it all now? I have my NT booked for next wednesday but DH and I are really unsure about whether or not to go through with it. I'm meeting my consultant on Friday so going to talk through it with him and make our decision from there.

Question for all of you that are further down the line, when did you get a bump with your twins and start feeling them moving? I am 12weeks 1 day today and still don't have any kind of bump at all (other than a cake bump!). This is my first so I've nothing to compare it to. I had a scan on the 31st and everything was fine then, but I'm worrying that something is wrong as I don't have any symptoms and no bump! Pregnancy is such a stressful experience for me so far!!

hippy3 · 09/02/2011 15:30

mrsstevo I got a visible bump at around 16 weeks..but even then I could kinda disguise it...then from then on it seems to have grown daily. I dont think I have grown that much over the last couple of weeks but my collegues point out otherwise. !

I also didnt feel anything until week 20 or just before.. I have an anterior placenta, and apparently that can affect feeling movement, and even then it wasnt everyday. But from about week 24 I have been feeling it get stronger and stronger to the point that now my clothes seem to move on their own, which makes me jump and is embarrasing when your in a meeting and others can see it!

Just wanted to add it all feels a bit surreal being on here giving advice to people in my mind I am still ages away. I used this site for every question I had as I worried about EVERYTHING and had so many questions.... I think it totally depends on weight, placenta where the babies are if this is your first pregnancy etc.... Smile hope this helps...

Oh..and where is Tabby? maybe she is focusing preparing herself for the birth.??

BrassicaBabe · 10/02/2011 09:33

morningmadness Sorry you have having grotty testing descisions to make. I hope you are getting good specialist advice and support.

hippy Sorry you are having a crappy time too. I think you have every right to become "Director of Operations" and sit on a chair in the middle of the room giving out orders! Grin Re pain releif, I'm afriad I'm at the other end of the road to you...I've requested a CS which they are considering.

Mrsstevo Where in Lincs are you? I'm an "incomer" and I'm still getting used to the mega flat cabagge filled landscape Hmm

I'm 16+4 now. I think I felt someone move last night. Does that sound right? I have to be laying flat on my back so that my tummy is tight (ish!) and concentrate quite hard. But I'm pretty sure I felt the butterflies of movement. Hopeing it wasn't gas Blush I'm on the cusp of moving from normal clothes to maternity wear. Which is a problem because I've not bought anything yet!!

I hope everyone is well x

strawberrylace · 10/02/2011 11:06

hi everyone
just a quick post as in the middle of feeding the twins. if any of the newly expectant would like any size 16 maternity clothes, please message me, as i have some i'd be happy to send you. no more babies for me now i have 3 DCs and would like to see things go to a good home x

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 10/02/2011 14:56

Hello ladies!

Great news on the flat hippy don't do too much Wink

Glad your BP is ok Cerub, I have been lurking! Am ok, still here cooking! All signs point to prelabour so not getting too excited and everything calmed down again last night!

How are you doing morning?

Ooo that is exciting Brassica most def could be! Enjoy those flutters as you will be being beaten up in no time at all!!!

Don't worry Mrsstevo your bump will appear soon enough, and as hippy said it all depends on so many factors so don't panic take each day as it comes and enjoy it! When is your next scan?

Holidays 1 appointment/scan left for me too, next week. I have been booked for induction on the 8/3 (38 weeks!) but they don't think I will get that far. They have said I can try for natural delivery if I go into labour before the 8th so long as my consultant is around, if not it will be a c-sec. If I make it to the 8th I can go naturally as consultant on. Good news on the twins being head down. Re Cot Mobiles, I have one already from DD and it was really useful.

Hi to everyone I have missed, not quite with it at the moment as I am a complete insomniac! Any tips ladies who have popped on getting through the last few weeks!??????????????????

MrsStevo · 10/02/2011 16:04

brassica - I'm in Lincoln city (the nice bit uphill!) I still feel like a newbie in this county though and we moved here almost 6 years ago. It does take a lot of getting used to!! I used to live 50 mins train ride from london.... Lincoln is considerably less cosmopolitan by comparison!

Thanks for all your reassuring messages about my non-bump! I'm so excited about actually getting a bump as it all just doesn't seem real yet - I can't relate those wriggling creatures on the ultrasound screen to actually being inside me.

Magic8 - my next scan is, in theory, next Wed 16th but it is for the NT which I can't decide if I want or not. I think the only real reason that I want to have it is so I can see them again! I don't actually want the NT bit to be done in case it is bad news :(

MorningsMadness · 10/02/2011 17:15

Hello all - sorry but DD1 and trying to org house move keeping me distracted, along with major sickness and exhaustion - yuck!

Met head of dept on Tue and he was brilliant. Basically came down to question of whether we would 'reduce' if got negative result and we don't feel we could so said if just for the sureness and preparing ourselves then he'd do amnio at 32 wks instead as risk of losing both just too high, even with only 1% chance of prob with test. He scanned for ages so was really reassuring and said it all in terms you could really relate to. so for now going to just be positive and act as all healthy and fingers crossed it's the right thing to do!

Meanwhile, MrsS I have an enormous bump but think it's just my stomach collapsing and letting all the fat out ha ha!

MorningsMadness · 10/02/2011 17:16

Ps. it is great to see two wrigglers but doc did v short 3D and am I the only one who just didn't think it was that amazing?

Jenzopos · 10/02/2011 23:46

Hey all. just purchased 2 of the plastic bath supports and now wonder why i was even using a baby bath...so much easier with both in the big bath and they loved the freedom to kick in the water without being held!

:)

Things are manic...girls sometimes skipping different feeds from each other...just got through the 3m growth spurt + colds so worn out!

Hope everyone else is well.

holidays2010 · 11/02/2011 10:16

Hi all.

Magic - that's exactly what I'm talking about, I've only been able to see doctors on my visits to hospital so maybe that's why no one has given me any ideas as to induction or anything!
It's quite annoying because anything could happen and at least if they'd talk to me about it and book me in I'd be able to relax a little more.
Guess I'll just have to see what happens on my last appointment.

I'm still walking DD to and from school with no problem. The pick up is getting a little tiring but nothing much. I haven't done the washing up in weeks...in fact I haven't done anything in a good couple weeks! I should pull the hoover out today though...

Cerubina · 11/02/2011 13:59

Good news about the flat hippy, glad you managed to get that resolved and hope the move goes smoothly when it happens.

MrsStevo I think I was similar to hippy in when I started feeling kicks - around 20 weeks. The bump probably began to emerge about 14 weeks but suddenly got very noticeable at 17 weeks or so. I remember being impatient for it to appear but you don't need to worry, with twins you will have plenty of time to deal with the logistics of a massive bump so enjoy your flexibility and lung capacity while you can!

Mornings glad you had such a positive and helpful appointment with the consultant. What he's suggested sounds like a really good pragmatic solution. I'm sure it'll be difficult to completely put it out of your mind but the odds are still very strongly that your babies will be fine and dandy.

Magic and holidays keep on brewing those bubs and relaxing as much as you can! holidays, if you don't feel you're getting all the info you need about what they have planned for you then speak up at your next appointment and don't leave until they have given you what you need! What is your preference, did you want to do it naturally? If you have expressed this at some point and they haven't commented then perhaps that means they agree with you but def worth asking.

Can I ask whether anyone else is experiencing a huge increase in hunger during their third trimester? Just this week I have gone from eating very normally to being absolutely ravenous. I had to get up at 1.30am last night to have some cornflakes as I was just starving. I put this down to the twins having a growth spurt and I'm sure it's normal and a good sign. It's just so odd how I stuff my face and within about an hour am rifling through the cupboard for something else! My husband reckons my bump is growing almost by the day at the moment - my arse will be too at this rate! Grin

jesse4ever · 11/02/2011 20:48

HI ladies,

restingkitty · 12/02/2011 10:32

Hello, just reading up on everyone's news. hippy feeeling your pain on the house move situation - I've just started packing up and cleaning our flat in preparation for the move. Serious lack of motivation for that (should be doing it now really...)

mornings glad to hear you had a more reassuring appt. The Dr sounds great. You're right to keep as positive as poss.

In terms of movement I first felt mine somewhere between 16-17 weeks, but it wasn't easy to distinguish as definite kicks until about 19 weeks. It's amazing how quickly the flutters grow into serious stomach punches! Although those have only just started for me...

Hi Lisa - in the first trimester I gained 6lb (I know because I weigh myself every week and write it in my diary!)

Keep well everyone

holidays2010 · 12/02/2011 16:15

Well they wrote in my notes I want a v-birth so that's one thing but that's all.

Oh my DD has caught chicken pox, luckily she's playing normally and seems quite happy. But the spots are appearing by the hour! Bless.

As for how much weight I've gained, I'm not interested, I just eat when hungry and eat whatever I want! (Naughty!)

I've decided, I wont be taking my DD back to school after half term - I'm relaxing at home, near the hospital and waiting for D-Day because I'm sure if I carry on walking her to school I'll break waters in school!
I'm not going to feel guilty for my decision either, this is my last pregnancy and I'm doing things my way - in the most relaxed way I can too, I refuse to stress over crying babies and reception teachers!

Only big difference I've noticed this past week or two is constantly needing the loo, but I guess that's a result of both twins being head down,(also means I get a lot of feet under my ribs!)

Hope everyone else is well...?

hippy3 · 13/02/2011 16:21

cerubina I am eating like a HORSE !!! thought it was just me. I have been eating fairly normally throughout as well. no mad cravings or anything,But the last two weeks have been having two helpings of dinners eating breakfast then 2 hours later wanting a sandwhich or something.... starving ! and going to the toilet much more, and feeling them much more and finding it more difficult to breathe as one keeps sitting under my ribs...! but am not complaining am getting more excited as the weeks go on

Had a baby shower thing last night, and havent laughed so much in AGES. My friends got suitably drunk, and my DP left us all alone and cooked dinner for us all... didnt go to bed until 1.45 am.!!!!!!..am shattered now. And my sides are hurting from laughing... also got given lots of nice bits for myself and HEAPS of clothes for the boys, poor DP got nothing.

Am off to bed now for a few hours to recooperate! hope youve all had a good weekend. Smile

holidays2010 · 13/02/2011 16:49

Glad you had fun Hippy.

We went to sister in law today, she hardly spoke to me about the pregnancy, just asked when they were due and that was it. But then she didn't even know when her only niece's birthday was (in a few days!) despite just seeing her mum (DD's nan) who had sent over a birthday card and money for it!

But DD is doing well with her chicken pox - but I'll have to do the rest of her present shopping with her because she cant go to school Confused

MorningsMadness · 13/02/2011 19:47

jesse - no idea how much I put on, just 13 weeks but big tummy, clearly all fat so I dare not go near the scales but may havee to start a diary like restingkitty.

Cerubina - never a truer word said, I had dreams/nightmares about it last night and am just not sleeping fearing I've done the wrong thing but trying to be positive, yikes, haven't told DH yet.

Anyone else in Trimester 2 but still feeling shattered and sick whether you eat or not?!

restingkitty · 13/02/2011 20:51

I just find that it's less frightening knowing I've put on 2lb in a week and seeing the weight creep up, rather than leaving it for weeks and seeing scales jump up a stone nothing to do with control freak tendencies

bed at 1.45am?! wow. I got the tube home from a party last night at 10.15 - I honestly thought that was quite good going!! Baby shower sounds lovely, must make it all seem very real.

funny, my SIL is similar holidays. She is quite happy to ignore the whole thing. I'm trying not to take it personally - I think it's her issue (?), not mine.

MissyMolly · 13/02/2011 21:33

Hope everyone is ok. I've been in hospital the last couple of days on a drip due to being so sick Sad had to have steriod and anti sickness injections too. I'm thankfully managing to keep food and drink down now, although have been told to rest in case of relapse. Only another 12 weeks to go until 37 weeks.... Grin

As I'm planning on the twins sleeping together at first, would a cotbed be better than a cot? I know they're bigger but would it make alot of difference? Confused

Snowfalls108 · 14/02/2011 09:01

Hi MissMolly - you poor thing. I had to do that at about 16 weeks for 5 days, not fun at all! The good thing is that the medication they put me on has worked really well and I haven't had much sickness at all since.

I think a cotbed is a good idea as it will last longer.

I'm 25 weeks and also eating tons. Lots of regular snacks! I have no idea how much weight I've put on, I dread to think!!

Another scan tomorrow. That'll be number 14!

hippy3 · 14/02/2011 17:59

missmolly we just bought a cot bed. Thinking it will see us through until they are bigger, obviously we only bought one, and we are planning on buying another one in a couple of months. The mattress looks HUGE.

Ive a question??...what is a NECESSITY bedding wise? what are you going to sleep the twins in?? I am tad confused.....

Jenzopos · 14/02/2011 19:54

I put on about 4 stone while pregnant and have lost most of it already. I'm still eating and eating...breastfeeding 2 has made me always hungry!

missmolly I'd advise swaddling them at first and moving to gro bags once swaddling stops working...mine are just in them now at 3 months (tried at 2 months and the girls would not sleep without swaddling so had to retry a few weeks later)

my two are in a cot together topping and tailing in gro bags.
