my two also sleep together in grobags, they are still side by side in the cot at the mo - so cute when they snuggle up to each other. my mum sewed up the neck hole & arm holes of the grobags a bit when they were very tiny so they could use them.

i think i put on about 3 stone and have lost most of that i think - i did eat a lot when i was pregnant and first breastfeeding - trying to be a bit more sensible now and eat one choc bar a day instead of three!

Hi all, hope everyone is well. hippy glad you enjoyed baby shower, sounds like a lot of fun.

Useful tips all round about sleeping arrangements too and weight loss - gives us all reassurance as we see our bumps growing before our eyes.

I'm 30 weeks tomorrow and feeling like a great big heffalump! I finish up at work this week and did the handover yesterday with my maternity cover - by the end of the day my bump was a mass of spasms and tightness and I felt shocking. Have had to have another day of working from home today to get over it - ladies who are still on their early days, I really suggest you think about finishing up at work as early as possible. It is exhausting at this stage and too easy to over-estimate what you're capable of. As soon as I have any energy whatsoever, I overdo it and end up in this state - think I have finally learned my lesson though and am going to take it incredibly easy at all times now.

I also attempted having a bath last night and it's clear that's not going to happen again until these babies are out - it would have been funny how incapable I was if it hadn't been so painful!

We collected our pushchair at the weekend (iCandy peach twin) - gorgeous and intimidating in equal measure! Nursery furniture comes next week. Eeep!

restingkitty · 15/02/2011 17:27

I've gained a stone in last 10 weeks....so I am very comforted by that news jjkm - thank you!

I think we might be ordering our icandy peach at the weekend cerubina - can I ask how long you had to wait between ordering and collection? If it's more than 6 weeks then we will definitely make the effort to order it this weekend!

Cerubina · 15/02/2011 18:55

Just checked the receipt and we ordered ours on 21 Jan, so it must only have taken about 3 weeks to come in (we didn't even collect it straight away). As you're in South London you might want to try the same place we got them from - the A3 Baby Barn near Kingston. They gave us a 10% discount on what we bought because it was twins, which all helps!

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 15/02/2011 19:19

sorry for not stopping by, DD's had gastro'tis since last thurs, horrible but bless her she is better now.

No idea how much weight I have gained, quite frankly I don't want to know LOL, however scans today (35 weeks) estimated twins are 6lb14 (DD weighed this when born at 39+5) and 5lb13 so that is almost a stone in baby, no wonder I am a wreck! I need them out, the heartburn/acid reflux is unreal, I have to lay not sit due to mass of bum etc under ribs, alongside a whole host of other pregnancy ailments!

Cerub not long to go! Your handover is done now which is great, time to wind down Wink I had to laugh at the bath situation, I know exactly where you are coming from! Was watching OBEM last night and would love to have one of those huge birthing pools for a dip! Saw 2 girls from our class today, one is having c-sec tomorrow - she is 37 & half weeks bless her!

hippy I have swaddle blankets but I know a few babes who were not keen, have more cellular blankets/sheets than I know what to do with and gro bags for when they are heavy enough (although this may not be a problem if they weigh what is estimated!)

Well done to all you ladies with losing your twin weight and the bf'ing :) Sounds promising for what is yet to come I feel like a bus!

How was your scan Snow? Hope you are feeling better now missy :) Holls hows the pox? I have no idea how the hell you are still doing the school run! Glad you are stopping after half term. How are you feeling?

Big wave to all the other ladies I have missed, my brain is fried!!

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 15/02/2011 19:21

restingkitty my sis got an icandy from Baby Nest in Croydon, didn't take too long to come and I know they do discounts for twins.

Cerubina · 16/02/2011 03:24

Magic those are great weights! It must be good to know that even if they came today they are going to be quite robust and hopefully not need to spend time in SCBU or anything, but you must be so uncomfortable. This pregnancy lark is hard, I really don't plan on going through it again! I've come out in sympathy with you tonight with some heartburn, hence being up at 3.15am. Have just had a glass of milk in the hopes it'll dampen things down again - first time I've really been troubled by it and hope it's not going to be regular so I feel for you with it.

Just wondering how tabby is doing - due date is approaching fast and we haven't heard from you in a while. Are you OK?

And Jesse4ever - how was your scan in the end? I do hope it showed the twins were bouncing around in there and helped to reassure you that they are fine.

While I'm reading back we also don't seem to have heard from Thingamajig, Victoria, Crazydays, propercrimbo or Cantdrink in a while - come out ladies! Hope all are well.

I wonder if it's worth trying going back to bed yet...grr, hate this broken sleep.

holidays2010 · 16/02/2011 08:03

Hi all.

DD's Chicken pox is slowly clearing but she's missed this week off school which will just add to her already low attendance (due to always being ill!).
She drives me up the wall when she's off school, she just gets bossy and moody and we end up clashing! :p

But apart from all that I'm well, finding it a little harder to sleep at night, turning over can be painful! But having baths is still do-able without bother so guess I'm lucky. I do feel like my time is nearly up though, just need to tick everything off my "to do list" and I'll relax a lot more!

Have one last hospital appointment on Monday but you wont hear from me on that day because I'm going back to my flat which doesn't have internet connection! I will somehow try to fill you all in but not sure how.

Anyway better go, have a busy day ahead with it being DD's b.d today.
Take care all x

hippy3 · 16/02/2011 11:05

Smile Smile whhoopp whhooppp!!! Just had another scan am 29 +4 today. Both boys are doing really well. The smaller one seems to have caught up!! everything is fine... weighing in at around 3 lb each....

Back in this afternoon, to see consultant. AM delighted... keeping fingers and legs crossed from here on in.... the longer in the better! . x Hope everyone is ok....x

VictoriaSecrets · 16/02/2011 11:23

Hi everyone - apologies for the lack of posts... have been lurking/snooping when I can get a spare minute, but just so busy at the mo that finding it difficult to stop my mind from whizzing!

It's all go at the mo - we've decided we can't cope with living in a 1 bedroom house when the babies arrive, so put it on the market a couple of weeks ago and had an offer over the weekend which we've accepted - we've also found a place that we'd like to rent and had our offer on that accepted but it's not available until the end of March (i'll be about 33 weeks then so really hoping we're not cutting it too fine!). I finish work next Friday, and although it's relatively early it can't come soon enough!!I second the earlier comment to those very early on about not planning to work too long if you can avoid it :)

Babies seem to be doing well - our next scan is on Monday - at the last one they were both head down so they were planning a natural delivery (gulp), but not sure if they will have moved since then as they are very wiggly at the moment... Also think I have a bum or head under my ribs on the right side which is very uncomfortable.

Is anyone else experiencing quite strong Braxton Hicks? I'm a bit nervous as although they don't hurt as such, they are enough to make me stop what i'm doing- scared that proper contractions must be horrific! Also petrified of forceps after watching OBEM!

We had our last Twins antenatal class on Monday - really sad that they've finished but hope to keep in touch with some of the people we met there - can recommend www.havingtwins.co.uk if anyone is considering classes and looking for somewhere!

In terms of buggy - we've been looking at the Mountain Buggy Duo (and Duet which is out later this year) as we like the idea of being abe to plug the car seats directly on to it, and the Out and About Nipper 360 which seems really light and folds down quite small.

It's great to hear how everyone is doing - I will try and post more often too... should have more time on my hands after next Friday :) :) :)

xxxx

restingkitty · 16/02/2011 11:42

those are really great tips, thank you. I just assumed we'd try john lewis, but taking the car to somewhere a bit out of town is so much more sensible!

Magic those are really fantastic weights and hippy good news on your scan.

Victoria I think I must have had my first BH last night. In my half asleep state I was wondering whether I should call the hospital! THen I realised what it probably was - I had the same thought about genuine contractions. eek

VictoriaSecrets · 16/02/2011 11:45

ha ha - glad it's not just me- I asked the consultant last time I saw her, and she said to keep an eye and to get in touch with them if there were more than 4-6 in an hour, or if they became regular in terms of timing and they would probably do a fibronectin test to see if premature labour was likely in the next week or so :)

Cantdrinkanymoremilk · 16/02/2011 15:18

Hello, all - been too knackered to post as stupidly tried to keep working (even part-time was too much, really). But finished now, at exactly 32 weeks. What a relief.

Great to read everyone's news. Braxton Hicks are mental with twins, I've learned that the last few weeks - the whole bump is so tightly packed that it feels much stronger when it happens (that's what the midwife tells me. That and having strong stomach muscles - HA HA HA! - because it's my first pregnancy).

Much respect to the people moving house - I can barely organise myself to put a wash on without thinking about it for three hours first! We did just get a new car though, a proper family job, looks like Postman Pat's van but it'll be very practical.

Has anyone else's eyesight gone funny? Not in a scary pre-eclampsia way, more that I'm short-sighted to start with and it's got a lot worse. Hospital say it's not unusual in pregnancy but I'd never heard of that before. I'm going to have to hold the babies right up to my face when they're born to see them at this rate...

hippy3 · 16/02/2011 16:07

victoriasecrets sounds EXACTLY like us.... I am moving in two weeks mind you as wasnt brave enough to move any further on along...

Question??? How will I know its braxton hicks..I havent really felt anything like that really. Occasionally I get what feels like a muscle pull on either side of my stomach? is that them??...or would I know ?? I have no idea what I am looking out for???? Hmm

hippy3 · 16/02/2011 16:14

oh and I agree I am not finishing work till next friday as well but to be honest the last four weeks have been a struggle.

my mind is not at all on my job all I can think about is babies and every morning I wake up I feel like crying cause I am so so tired.....so ladies deff think about finishing a bit earlier... You will deff reap the benefits ! I cannot wait too put my feet up, and relax and watch day time t.v...! Smile after I have moved house that is...lol.....

Snowfalls108 · 16/02/2011 19:42

We're also trying to move house, currently in a 1 bed which has worked well with 1 DC but don't think 3 DC is realistic.
We were meant to complete before Christmas but the chain further up has been slowing us down. Really hoping we will complete in the next week as we need to do some work on the new place. Can't imagine we're going to be in until end of March when I'll be 4 weeks away from delivery! I don't think I'm going to be much use moving!

Hi everyone

Hippy - the pulling feeling sounds like round ligament pain - the BH feel like your tummy just goes really tense and tight - not painful as such just a bit uncomfortable... you can feel your tummy go hard from the outside... this link has some quite good info Braxton Hicks

Snowfalls - know how you feel about the house stuff - i'm really hoping all ours goes through ok, the lady buying is a cash buyer, so hopefully no chain there - and we are moving into rented in the short terms so hoping that that will reduce the hassle factor. We've already said that if it doesn't progress or we have any issues we'll stay put until after they are born!

Feel like I need a holiday lol!

xx

holidays2010 · 17/02/2011 17:20

Hi all.

Who else is feeling like they constantly need to pee?
Cant believe these babies could be here in just a couple weeks! (If they come at 37 weeks)

I'm trying not to think about it because that's usually when fear kicks in!

We haven't heard from Tabbycat or thingamajig in a while...wonder how things are?

VictoriaSecrets · 17/02/2011 19:46

I do! All night! - although seems to depend on what position they are in... at the last scan they were both head down and definitely noticed the pressure on my bladder. One of them might have moved now- we've got another scan on Monday so hopefully will see then.

Not long now Holidays! At least you know that as you've already made it to 35 weeks then they stand a very good chance of being healthy etc :) which must be quite reassuring.

Do you know whether they are in position for a natural delivery? Or C- section? :)

Snowfalls108 · 17/02/2011 22:13

Peeing constantly, makes for a fab nights sleep, especially when combined with teething DS!
