I'd recommend the babba sling.

Jenzopos · 02/02/2011 20:55

I'd recommend a wrap
got mine from here and very pleased with it :)

once you get the hang of it its easy :)

Jenzopos · 02/02/2011 21:00

I found the baba uncomfortable on the shoulder after a while whereas the wraps you can use all day and they stay comfy. Went out today with DH with a baby each and was really easy getting about without a large buggy! DH has a blue one and i have a red one with custom flower panel :) Worth a look as these are much cheaper than branded carriers and she does some amazing fabrics!

OH said something very funny to me today....he asked me what it is I've actually done today...
this is coming from a man who isn't currently working and he's asking me, his pregnant (with twins might I add) wife, what I have done today!
I think I'm entitled to sit on my arse after walking DD to school and bringing in the food shopping alone (i.e no car)...especially at 33 weeks!..No?
Men, honestly.

MorningsMadness · 04/02/2011 15:12

Hello ladies, I ams till only 12 wks but had NT scan yesterday and one twin had a high result - 3.3mm - so we're booked to talk to doc about CVS next week but I feel I need to know but am worried it would damage one or both while DH is terrified and doesn't want to test. Oh, and he's away on a boys weekend so no time to talk!!! Help please!!! So confused and can't think straight. Have DD who is almost 4 but then had 2 MCs, all IVF, so this is our last chance.

Lavitabellissima · 04/02/2011 16:14

Not popped in for ages but just had a quick read. I'd definitely recommend a moby sling £24 on ebay Smile it's been great to get stuff done if one twin usa asleep and the other is un settled x

Snowfalls108 · 04/02/2011 17:07

Oh MorningMadness sorry to hear that. Have they done the blood test as well?

MorningsMadness · 04/02/2011 17:35

Yes blood test too so that's the combined result unfortunately. Just so hard to know what to do next, aaargh.

Snowfalls108 · 04/02/2011 18:00

Would the results of your cvs effect your decisions on your pregnancy?

I've had a double amnio because I carry muscular dystrophy (only boys suffer and my twins are girls thankfully!)
weigh up the risks and consider if having the test will change anything,,,if it won't, it might be better not to have it, but you need to weight up the risks...some might rather know in advance. IN my case MD is so utterly terrible that I did have the tests done. After watching my brother die from the disease I could not bring a child into the world knowing they would suffer as he did.

Downs is a bit greyer as many kids with downs do ok

You need to talk to your dh about it openly and get expert advice so you know the risks.

morningmadness I feel for you. When we discovered I was pregnant with twins they asked me if I wanted the test for downs, as they said as they were identical then if one was downs then so would the other one be.

My DP was against and I wanted it. I think to prepare myself incase our children would have been needing extra care and we could have prepared ourselves as much as we could...

Our results came back ok. Although apparently they arent always correct. Its a tough one and you probably need to talk to someone about this...

Please let us know how it goes....x Smile

Cerubina · 05/02/2011 10:59

Hi MorningsMadness, hope you are feeling a bit less frightened today. It must be a shock to get a potentially alarming result, but I agree with jjkm that the most important thing is to consider what action you would take if it turned out there was an abnormality. If you would do nothing, I believe it is better not to proceed with the more invasive testing and the risk of m/c (which was why we also didn't even have the nuchal fold/blood test in the first place - we wouldn't have wanted to take the further tests either way). If you would potentially abort depending on what the abnormality was, it makes sense to find out. It is not going to be easy to put it out of your mind altogether if you decide not to have CVS as the genii is sort of out of the bottle, but it will be most helpful to you all if you can try to relax and view the pregnancy positively.

Is there a doctor or midwife available who you can talk this stuff through with, and how long do you have before you need to decide? x

MorningsMadness · 06/02/2011 16:52

Oh thank you all so much and sorry for not coming back to you - my parents were here for the weekend so a rare treat and break!
The ratio given was 1 : 34 with twin 2 at 1 : 2367
It is hard to know whether we would do anything if the result was negative but even harder to put that close the can of worms once you know there is a chance ...
Speaking to a doc on Tuesday so will let you all know and thanks for the messages.

holidays2010 · 07/02/2011 17:02

Hi girls.
Had my 34 week scan today, both twins have head down.

I just wondered if anyone is buying mobiles for the cot? I was thinking mobile then saw the light seahorse and glow worm in Argos. Any point in buying them?

My DD (nearly 5) has a cough today, she seems well apart from that but it's really dampened her spirits. Poor thing, nearly ill every week since she started school! Plus she just finished a course of antibiotics too! :(

hippy3 · 07/02/2011 19:12

CRAP day..My partner has been told he has to take a HUGE pay cut, I mean massive......or loose his job. Which means we have to move out of the flat that we are in by the 1st of April, which by my calculations..is 36 weeks..if they last that long. So looks like my month of relaxing on Maternity leave will be spent packing... and trying too move house(Although in fairness he did say that he would do everything). And what makes it worse is he is thinking about doing it the last weekend in march..I cant talk about it without getting hysterical Blush and I am blaming the hormones.

If we move before then we loose a grand which we just cant afford at the moment... what to do?
Move at the beginning of march, or at the end... ???
On the up side have found a nice two bed flat which is rather large with a garden in our area, which is nice for nearly 200 pound cheaper...
We never row and couldnt stop shouting at each other earlier... ! Sad think im going to get into the bath and try to relax...

Holidays congrats on both twins being head down...

MissyMolly · 07/02/2011 19:25

hippy Sad that's crap. We are looking (and struggling) to find somewhere we like to rent, I'm also stressed about leaving it too late. Hope you manage to have a nice bath and relax.

I feel in so much pain today- my hips, back and ribs are killing me. How am I going to cope, I'm only 24 weeks!

Morningsmadness hope you're feeling ok today

smokeybacon · 08/02/2011 08:04

morningmadness hello! I don't get on much these days what with the dts and my other two but just saw your post about tests and thought I would add our experience fwiw.

We had bad NT results with ds2 and had cvs..all was ok but due to that I didn't want the NT for the DTs, but I did want testing. Our PCT dies the combined tests now but not for multiples as it's not reliable for twins etc. They let us have a cvs for the twins. If you want to know and your babies and placenta are in the right place, it's a straightforward procedure. Yes there is a risk of mc but ask for your consultants stats. One who does cvs regularly should be fine. I was very very happy with ours and completely trusted him. He said he would stop if there was any risk to the babies. It was all fine.

We knew what we would do if we had one or both with problems. The hospital advised that we should know this before we went ahead. I researched all the possibilities and fortunately dh and I were in agreement. It's a difficult decision and my heart goes out to you as I was there with ds2 (1 in 23 after his NT). Good luck with whatever you decide.

holidays2010 · 08/02/2011 10:52

Hippy sorry to hear about all the stress. Important thing to remember and remind yourself (and hubby) is that no matter how bad things get you two love each other and no amount of arguing will change that.
Soppy but in times of stress it helps to remind yourself you still got someone.

We'll need to move too because I'm only in a 2 bed flat so once the twins are born and hopefully before I need to buy another cot we'll find something bigger.

Hope everything works out for you hippy.

Cerubina · 09/02/2011 12:42

How did things go yesterday with the specialist Mornings? Hope he was able to give you some reassurance and useful guidance and you are nearer knowing what to do next.

Magic are you lurking? Thinking of you since the alarm last week and hoping things have remained quiet and a lot more comfortable since?

hippy sorry about the finances and housing situation, that sounds like utterly crappy timing. I think FWIW my assumption is that moving earlier rather than later would be (slightly) easier, and especially if you have identified a nice place that is available now. If that got snapped up by someone else and you then still had to go househunting as you got nearer the time, it would be even more stressful. But I can imagine losing £1k on your current place is really not what you want either. If you can possibly stretch the finances, I would completely recommend you pay someone to do your packing for you - please don't do it yourself, you need to rest - and it just makes moving that bit more bearable, it really does.

MissyMolly hope the aches and pains have subsided a bit. I think we all recognise the worry that it's hard to imagine coping with this (and worse) for weeks and weeks...I reckon having two at a time must make a big difference to how early these things kick in.

Smokey good to see you on here and hope your babies are thriving! jjkm how are your two, are the doctors able to say how much longer they'll be in?

29 weeks today here and all well. Had a repeat BP check yesterday and it is back to a better result so the m/w was happy. Have removed my wedding & engagement rings now as fingers are starting to get a bit puffy and I wouldn't want them to have to be cut off later! The babies are moving loads but the movements have completely changed - not kicks so much now as undulations and parts being poked out! It feels much more real that there are little people in there. They still make me pretty uncomfortable and breathless a lot of the time but it's hard not to adore them when they respond to a pat or stroke. Another day of working from home today - feel absolutely exhausted so not much work as such is being done!
