Thanks *strawberrylace for the link... I wasn't sure how to do that :)
I have just got a trail pack of pocket reusables and like them, all so far. had one leak but it was because I put it on too loose. Trying bum genius, happy heiny, nature babies stuffables and fuzzi bunz...will let you know what i will go for once i've tested them out!

disposables for twins would cost me a fortune...far more than the cost of the birth to potty one size nappies!

my sister has the double city jogger and i have to say my nipper is a lot easier and nicer to push..and seems more hard wearing

hippy3 · 30/01/2011 17:20

decisions decisions !!!

actually was thinking of using reusables as well as disposables... but where to start?? there are loads of Different brands and I have no idea what are good and what not too use... I know it would be more hardwork, but also cheaper in the long run..... any recommendations.

Am 27 weeks today....keep telling them too keep cooking. !
Have had the perfect sunday. Went for a big walk on the beach, roast dinner (all cooked for me) and now am horizontal on my sofa...

I am thinking I should enjoy the laziness whilst I still can Smile

i'm a disposable nappy girl - i agree they work out more expensive in the long run, but i can't face having to do any more washing than i already have to do! my dirty clothes mountain never seems to get any smaller. the twins don't get dirty, so much as posset up after every feed - sometimes quite a bit - so everything smells of milk and needs changing on a very frequent basis. they sleep on a muslin on top of the cot sheet as they are easier to wash than loads of sheets.
One tip to keep costs down - i thought only pampers did premature size zero nappies, which work out very expensive with early born twins. but i discovered that tescos and sainsburys do own brand ones in size zero, which are considerably cheaper. Just thought i'd share this in case any of you need to get them in the end...
very Envy of you all on your pushchair shopping trips, i love looking at pushchairs

Amberc · 31/01/2011 06:47

Hi everyone! Not been on for ages as I've been so busy - even with the maternity nurse it never stops! My girls are doing well and are also on 1 feed a night. They are on a strict 3 hourly feeding routine and then have a 10pm 2.30/3am and then 7am. They've chubbed up a bit but are still in their newborn clothes! Having my 2.5 year old is hard as he's not getting much attention poor lamb. We got the baby jogger city mini and it is amazing. Even the nanny who only deals with twins said it's better than the others she's seen and what she would get. Soooooo easy to get up and down and not had a problem with doors. Anyway better go as they'll be up for their feed in a minute. Will transfer over to the post natal now so see you there!

i put bibs on the girls during feeds and for a good half hour after to save changing them

hippy3 · 31/01/2011 19:03

APOLOGIES FIRST....Smile but I am about to totally change the subject...Blush

are you having much sex with your DP / DH ?? my sex life seems to be a bit non existent, i am 27 weeks now.

My DP said he was scared that his P*s will push the tops of their head...!! I was like how big do u think you are??? Whilst choking on my laughter, he also says he feels like we arent alone especially as he can see and feel my stomach move now...

Apologies if this is too personal but I am very curious.... and wondering how everyone else is coping. I figured it was probably quite normal. ???

MissyMolly · 31/01/2011 20:17

hippy we're the same.... Blush

My DH feels abit strange about it- I do understand where he's coming from, although my sex drive seems to have increased, which doesn't help matters! I understand the 'not feeling like we're alone' thing, especially as my twinnies seem to be jumping around and kicking an awful lot at the moment (23 weeks) Smile

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 01/02/2011 02:07

Another night of insomnia although have been having twinges for the last hour hmmmmmmmmmmm and very low backache/pressure although they are having a party in there. Think it is wishful thinking after having a horrible day with tiredness, aching and tears after a weekend of being "up" and spoilt at my baby shower. Have seriously had enough, I am going to burst.......33 weeks today so just 4 to go..........

hippy Sex? What's that? No seriously, banned in this pregnancy due to previous late m/c. But even if I wanted I don't actually think I could!!!!!!

Good to read all you twin mummies are doing well! x

BrassicaBabe · 01/02/2011 09:11

Morning All

DH and I have only been together 2 and a bit years. So we're still in the honeymoon period really. That and the fact that I'm only 15 weeks means that we're still having sex as usual. (Thank God!) But this might change yet. I guess we're going to have to investigate some new positions? The "lazy and on my back" sessions will have to go? Although when we had our booking appointment at the hospital I asked DH if he had any questions he thought he might want to ask, he whispered in my ear "are we safe to keep shagging?" Hmm

I have also told him that even if I get fat, stretch marky and bloated he's still got to fancy me. And if he doesn't fancy me he's got to pretend pretty damn well that he does!! Grin

I'm swinging between stressing about my weight and my quest for the perfect double buggy! Grin

Snowfalls108 · 01/02/2011 09:50

Morning.
On my way for scan 11! These babies get no privacy.
No shagging here but mainly because too knackered to contemplate it!

Cerubina · 01/02/2011 11:40

Morning all

I'm in the no sex camp too, we haven't done it in months. Too tired to start with, then had the scare that put us both off, now would be physically impossible I think..!

Snowfalls are you at St George's? I was just there for a scan this morning so we might have crossed paths. Good luck for yours.

All looking good with our twins - they have gained weight massively in the last 4 weeks and are now 2lb 10oz and 2lb 12oz (both 1lb last time). Very pleased they seem to be thriving. Also have an explanation for the heinous rib pain - both their heads are together just under my left hand ribs and when they move they both bump me! It's looking a lot like a CS for me unless they collaborate and both decide to move, because apparently the way they are now makes it difficult for number 1 to get into head down position. BP was a little bit high today so I have to go back next week for another check but they said not to worry about it.

restingkitty either house buying or carrying twins would be enough to reduce anyone to tears, so both together sounds haaaard!

Magic sorry you feel so uncomfy, do you think you overdid it at the weekend? I find as soon as I have any let up in gyp or tiredness I try to do too much and regret it pretty soon after! Can you get plenty of rest today? What did you get given at your shower?

We're going to do disposable nappies - pretty sure that reusables will be too big an ask for us. It's starting to dawn on me quite how huge a change in our lives we're about to have...

BrassicaBabe · 01/02/2011 12:08

There's a huge change in our lives coming Cerubina? Grin

hippy3 · 01/02/2011 18:53

phew..dont feel like a freak anymore then...Smile. Although I think if my DP was into it I probably would, My sex drive seems quite high at the moment and I keep having rude dreams Blush sign of pregnancy???

Have another scan tomorrow I think like you snowfalls i am on scan 13 !! or something ridiculous.... mind you that is from being scanned weekly for a period.

I am curious...people keep mentioning weights. I only seem to get the growth charts?? I have no idea what the two of them weigh just that they are both within the range that they should be (one still slightly bigger) on the scales that they give you. They were weighed weeks ago and were coming in at a 1lb or so each..so I might ask. Although how can they tell how much each one weighs? and arent they notoriously wrong with the weights??

cerubina how are you feeling we are a day apart..I have really started to feel the tiredness over the last week or so and I am not as agile as I was.... but 3 weeks left in work and Ive cut my working week down from 5 days to 4. So am hoping that this will help...

Jenzopos · 01/02/2011 20:12

They estimate them based on measurements of tummy, head circumferace and length of the lower leg as far as I know. Mine were estimated to be both 6lb 8oz at 35 weeks and were born at 38 weeks weighing 6lb 5oz and 7lb 4oz!

holidays2010 · 02/02/2011 08:47

Hi all, haven't posted in a bit. DD was ill with a "flu-like infection" and put on a course of Amoxicillin.
But she's doing better now.

Hippy3 Sex has become extinct in this relationship since about week 11/12. OH has gone right off it because of fear of getting too close to the twins if you catch my drift and well I don't particularly miss it, just miss cuddling with OH.

I have never been given estimated weights for the twins either. I have another scan on Monday and one more (last one booked) on 21st - that's when I'll be 37weeks.

I'm rather hoping these two come after 37weeks though because I'm still waiting for the cot to arrive!

Oh and as for dreams, I've been getting weird ones and naughty ones for ages. Actually the other day I dreamt my OH came home and admitted he'd kissed some girl, I woke up quite upset and had to remind myself it was just a dream so mustn't bash his head in! Grin

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 02/02/2011 12:07

Hello Ladies, had false alarm and spent the day in hosp yesterday (Cerub they were lovely on the labour ward btw) started having big old tightenings in the night every 10 mins. They told me to come in and then I spent the day on the labour ward and hours on CTG. Did panic when the anaesthetist came to see me! Starting having painfulish contractions but they only lasted an hour and then completely stopped. Everything is still closed so def not in labour. Wonder if this may be the start of things though and we are going to have some stopping and starting going on.........

Hope you are feeling better holls fab you got your date. I will get mine tomorrow :) How did you get on with your scan snow?

Re the weights, they told me at 36 weeks they thought DD would be a 9lb baby, she was only 6Ib14oz but was very tall. How did you get on today hippy?

Good news about your 2 Cerub and sorry you are still having rib pain, did they suggest any ways to bring relief as the twins may be set to stay put? I think I did overdo it at the weekend and also the breech twin it seems has tried to turn back which I think caused me some trouble although they didn't confirm position yesterday as they were without a portable scan on delivery suite yesterday.

TIred today, think I might head off for a nap :)

hippy3 · 02/02/2011 12:23

magic8 everything ok now...?? U poor thing. Every time I feel a twinge or anything I panic... am thinking of you. Hopefully things will settle down. !

Went for scan this morning...and they estimated the babies weights at 2lb 9!!!!! and 2lb 7 !!!!! I am only 27 weeks..this cant be right???????

I looked in my baby book.(I know I prob shouldnt) and it says they should be averaging about 2lb..... Mind U I know that these things are often wrong. The most important thing is that they are both still growing. I have to go back this afternoon for the consultants appointment, total waste of time if you ask me. They will just look at the results and go yep...see you in two weeks.! Hmm

Isnt it funny..at the beginning I was worried they were too small now I am worrying they are to big lol.... I am seeing a pattern here I might be a worrier ! god help these kids...

One is head down at the mo and the other is head up and has his bum in the other ones face... I had to laugh. Oh..and we have decided against the 3d scan... cancelled. As I have thought we need to cash for more productive things.
snow how was your scan..?
Holls I am praying I can make it too 36/37 weeks. ! I would say you are ready to go now though are you??

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 02/02/2011 12:35

all good now, home with feet up :)

Great news on the weight hippy !

Cerubina · 02/02/2011 13:21

Magic that sounds like a drama but glad everything is OK now. Keep those feet up and the remote control close at hand!

Hippy those weights sound very similar to mine and I took those as really good. We're very close on dates so similar weights are reassuring. And with yours being ID too, they seem to be very well matched with each other so I would be pleased with that. I agree the baby books seem to suggest only 2-2.5 lbs at this stage but the sonographer said ours were very normal.

holidays hope your daughter is fully recovered now and you are still managing to get about OK! I do wonder how much more I can possibly grow and what happens when I do - are you ladies who are a few weeks ahead noticing a big slow-down in energy/agility etc?

restingkitty · 02/02/2011 13:27

oh my gosh Magic how frightening. Glad all is ok and you're back at home.

We also had a scan yesterday (20 weeks), turns out we're expecting a boy and a girl! They are both doing well - I know everyone here understands what a relief that is! On the subject of weights, the sonographer said: "it looks like the boy might be a couple of pounds heavier than the girl", which didn't sound strange until I repeated it to my mum (what?? a couple of POUNDS??!) My mushed up brain doesn't cope well with weights and measures at the best of times Confused

holidays2010 · 02/02/2011 13:38

Glad you're ok Magic

I think a scare like that would give my OH a heart attack!

I have to say my energy levels seem fine, although I haven't walked DD to school since last Friday so I'll find out how I'm coping with the school run tomorrow!

Hippy3 I am definitely not ready to have these twins yet, I think once I've set the cot up I'll feel ready. I'm planning on getting everything ticked off my checklist before the half term hols start.

Also, movements of twin 'B' (twin on top) had slowed down over the past week which I thought was due to lack of space in there but yesterday s/he was kicking and moving about so much yesterday I thought s/he was trying to do a somersault!
s/he seems to be pushing against my ribs more and more though so I guess space is limited.

totally random...

What do you think of Baby slings...?? Is anyone else going to get them?

I am looking at them wondering if it is a waste of money. I am thinking buggy when I am on my own and need to get them both out and about, then slings for when DP and I are together, means he will be close to them as well..but have read they can be dangerous??

A looking at the moby d and the Kari me...? any thoughts?? Smile
