Hi guys...its been a few days..Ive some more bloody news !!! not all good I dont think!

Got home today and my DP said that my stomach seemed swollen, so rang the hospital to ask them and they said to come in straight away. I have just come out and i am none the wiser... !

Apparently now one looks like he has too much fluid!!! Although he cant be sure. So he has asked me to go back in on Friday so that he can get a clearer scan of them and discuss the results with other fetal specialists.

He actually said you are a conundrum !!!! as they are not acting/ dont look like twins do when they have TTS. ??

He has said that he isnt sure what it is at the moment. If it turns out to be TTS and i need laser treatment then he was discussing sending me to Bristol. I mentioned kings hospital, where there is the greek doctor (Cant remember his name)...but thats down the line..... so am feeling a bit deflated and not quite sure whats happening!! although weirdly dont feel worried as im fine and they looked liked they were fine in there. I guess Friday will tell..... sorry I havent had time to read thru all the posts just needed to let you know what was going on...Confused
Hope your all good..Smile

Hi Hippy please try not to worry until you have been back on Friday. Good luck with your scan and please let us know how you get on.

jjkm so glad to hear the girls are progressing well - may they keep it up. How you holding up?

Cerub we have had such a dumping of snow and it is still snowing heavily! Not going to make my appointment at St Gs today! Happy Half Way!

We tried out the Baby Jogger (City Select) at the Baby Show. It's great. Really lightweight, has foam filled wheels so wont puncture which makes it a joy to push and folds like a dream. I really liked it because you can position the seats all different ways and they can face each other which is nice. If you are a tamba member you can get this through twins-store with a good discount. Have used both tandem and side by side for work and def prefer tandem, so much easier getting in and out of shops/home. We ordered ours early (think I was 18 weeks) which I was worried about doing but we got a good deal. Ours is being delivered after xmas and I can't wait to have a play! Good point about the VAT increase........

holidays2010 · 02/12/2010 10:33

How are you all coping on the snow? It was a little slippery at one point today, so hope I dont fall over!

My OH doesnt think I'll make it past xmas...meaning all the things I'm doing (i.e walking DD1 to school) will become too hard. I dont know, feel pretty fine actually and I'm 24 + 4 today.
How are you finding it Magic?

Ok break over - finished my sandwich and coffee - got to hang the washing and do a little ironing.

Take care :)

Snowfalls108 · 02/12/2010 14:53

That's good to hear Magic8ball - going to see if we can try one out in the next couple of weeks.

My mind has gone blank when it comes to finding Christmas presents - really stuck on my Dad and in-laws. How are you getting on?

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 02/12/2010 19:45

Holidays I am shattered, but babes have been waking me up at 4.30am for the last few days and I am not sleeping well as they are kicking the life out of me. I have also ordered some spatone (iron supplement) as they told me I was a little anaemic when I was in hosp. There are quite a few things I can't do now.....and I think by xmas I am going to be pretty stuffed! Bump is measuring about 32-33 weeks..........(I am 24) I am struggling with the school run a little to be honest.....

SICK of the snow. It's still coming down out there.....I have moon boots but my balance is rubbish and am therefore too scared to go out so cabin fever is setting in.........

Have almost finished my xmas shopping Xmas Smile Snow have you had a look on firebox.com or I want one of those? They have good ideas for dads......

holidays2010 · 02/12/2010 20:34

Oh no Magic, sorry to here that! I have no idea how far my bump is measuring but backache is starting!

Im so glad I only have to buy presents for my DD1!

So far the kicks are bearable-except for a few bladder kicks which hurt. Ive already started telling them off when they kick in the wrong place Xmas Grin

Just ordered some more yarn so am going to get knitting again - hoping to work out how I knit a Bear for DD1 - already made some hats for babies - mittens next.

Well hope you all have a pleasant weekend!

holidays2010 · 02/12/2010 20:46

Oh just measured my bump - 44inches - I have no idea what that equals in a singleton pregnancy Xmas Smile

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 03/12/2010 09:15

Bladder kicks Confused

Holidays I measured my bump lengthways to the top of my uterus. My waist (what waist???? is 43cms)

Freezing here today but the snow has stopped......hoping my shopping comes so I can do my hospital bag today.........need something constructive today as I haven't been out since Monday!

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 03/12/2010 09:16

I mean inches!!!!!! Grin

holidays2010 · 03/12/2010 09:32

I assume theyre kicking my bladder, its uncomfortable whatever it is!
I dunno if im measuring right, I think so.

Dont you need to do the school run?
Im out right now actually, having a tea in mcdonalds-waiting for TKMaxx to open! Just dropped DD1 off to school.
I may start the xmas shopping next week, or today if theres anything good in TKMaxx.

Well have a nice day ladies! Xmas Smile

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 03/12/2010 10:50

DDs school is still closed, we are all still snowed in!
Happy xmas shopping holidays!

Snowfalls108 · 03/12/2010 11:41

Hey holidays - you measure from the top of your pubic bone to your belly button, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone?

holidays2010 · 03/12/2010 16:13

Really? Oh ive been doing it wrong then..

Amberc · 03/12/2010 16:39

Snowfalls you are meant to measure the length of your uterus so kind of from pubic bone but it will go way beyond your belly button after a while - mine is nearer my breasts!! It's usually all wrong anyway as it depends on fluid levels and the babies' lie.

By Xmas I will not be able to walk let alone make a Xmas dinner. Am 32 weeks tomorrow and cannot even sit at a right angle any more as my bump goes below my leg line (if you get what I mean!). I now have to sit like a man with my legs akimbo - classy!

Oh Amber I remember the legs akimbo position. I was very uncomfortable my last 4 weeks so I have sympathy. In fact, I was just putting the washing in the machine earlier and marvelling how good it was to bend over without pain or awkwardness! Now if I could just get the twins to sleep at night, life would be perfect! Had the worst night ever last night - I think I ended up crying more than them!

holidays2010 · 03/12/2010 17:38

Jjkm - glad to hear things are improving.

Im already finding bending down awkward and my bump is lower than my 1st pregnancy so legs akimbo is me already.
I do wonder how far il get, I was overdue with DD1 and had to be induced.
If im measuring right im about 21cm and im 24 + 5 today.

tabbycat76 · 03/12/2010 18:08

The comment re legs akimbo makes me laugh! I'm almost 29 weeks now and yes I'm finding myself sitting like that too! How attractive eh ladies?!

As for the buggies debate - I took my mum a while back to Kiddicare in Peterborough (home of the internet department store) to test drive buggies. They have a massive selection there so I would highly recommend a visit. Anyway, we had a shop assistant show us around the type of buggies they have for twins and we decided to opt for the Out and About nipper double 360. It's a side by side, three wheeler, so easy to manouvre. To be honest, I didn't really go with a tandem in mind so went in a bit blinkered but as it happens when we asked about tandems, they said they only had one make for twins because tandems are more designed for a toddler and a baby. I don't know how accurate this info was but can't say it influenced me much. I love our side by side buggy because it's so light weight, easy to collapse and is suitable up to 3-4 years. Don't think it'll fit through our front door but I plan to keep it in the garage anyway.

Great reminder about the VAT whoever mentioned that! It's made me think about cots.

What are peoples plans re cots? We've got one lent to us which we were going to use but have since figured they won't be in there for long together before we have to buy another so are considering buying two cot beds from Kiddicare (£70 each isn't bad eh?!) and using those instead. What are other people planning to do? Also, I haven't quite told my OH that they'll be with us in our room for over 3mths as recommended.... He's getting little sleep anyway (since I can't get comfy due to reflux I think, either that or just burpy wind) so it'll be good training for him! Hahaha!

Daren't measure my belly (I'm getting really quite big now) but I do know I've put on just over a stone since I fell pregnant so must be all babies at the mo. But my sweet tooth is getting worse so my weight gain may well dramatically increase soon enough!!!

Anyway, hope you all are ok... and surviving the snow. It's my bday tomorrow so probably won't be around much this weekend but hope you all have a good one! And watch out for the ice if you're out and about! Don't want any accidents in our states!

hippy3 · 03/12/2010 18:19

jjkm so glad to hear that they are doing much better...Smile

Had another follow up, no better off knowing. My twins are doing fine, dont need any fluid drained like initially thought. Although one does have more in the sac... both seem healthy, growing on an even keel they can see no abnormalities and they are kicking the crap out of each other. I swear the doctors are just doing it to FREAk us out.

So we have made a decision...we are not going to panic until the consultant does. There is no point. Just think im not in for an easy ride with the scans..... there is nothing they can do for me at the moment as both are growing although one is slightly smaller, but not by much. so have decided not going to talk about discrepencies any more! am going to enjoy it.

On a lighter note...am looking at the Jane twin pro.....?? any one tried this...... ?
TAMBA recommended it on their site, and I like the look of it.

Meant to be going to Bath tomorrow for the xmas markets bt its pretty bad where we are havent seen snow like this for ages...it is just turning into icy mush now mind....UCK !

holidays2010 · 03/12/2010 19:01

Oo I might take a look at kiddicare then. Forgot about them.

Happy birthday for tomorrow tabby!

hippy3 · 03/12/2010 19:04

happy birthday for tomorow tabby hope you get spoiled rotten ! Xmas Smile

sorry just saw your last bit...

Snowfalls108 · 03/12/2010 19:27

Good news about the scan Hippy.
Happy birthday Tabby.

Any tips on what to eat? I find I need to eat all the time otherwise I'm sick (almost 15 weeks), but this means I feel bloated constantly until the moment I am suddenly feel starving! So I need food that will fill me up but not make me feel bloated?

strawberrylace · 03/12/2010 20:33

hello everyone
hope you are all ok - i'm seriously not enjoying the snow, with a cold and 3 under 4s - have spent most of the week inside, but am bored now. hoping i feel better and the weather changes really soon.

jjkm - glad your girls are getting on ok, must be lovely to have them off the ventilators
hippy - good news about the scan
tabby - happy birthday!
holidays/amber/everyone who's feeling huge and being kicked to pieces - hope you manage to get comfortable - i can honestly say that i have completely forgotten those days now!
swazee - i know what you mean about the night sleeping - drives me mad that my two sleep great in the day, but not at night. i loathe the 3am feeds

I am sitting with one twin fast sleep curled up on my tummy, so i daren't move for fear of waking him and causing uproar again.

To join the cot & buggy debate: at the moment my two sleep side by side at one end of a cot in our room (they look so sweet cuddled up together). we have a second cot that i got off my sister luckily, so they can have one each when they move out of our room.

I got a second hand i-candy pear tandem pushchair - it has two carrycots, seats for when they're older and adaptors so you can put car seats directly on it too. i love it! and it was a bargain getting it second hand. it's quite easy to fold and fit into my boot, and i can still get a week's shopping in with it.

We looked at the city select, but it wasn't for us as you couldn't put two carrycots on it, and the seats didn't recline enough (we are often out in the evenings so need the twins to be able to sleep in the pushchair comfortably).

I was also looking at the baby jogger city mini side-by-side because its so light & easy to fold - but decided the i-candy was better for the moment because of the carrycots and being able to put the car seats on - very handy for a quick school drop off with DS1.

We went to john lewis at bluewater to look at all their puschairs - and probably really annoyed them by making them demonstrate everything and then not buying anything!
