OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
fastasleep · 24/09/2005 15:09

Aww DM nothing works for me either.. it just magically disappears, although the feeling of 'I'm going to punch the wall!! ARGH!!' can last for days!

Parents always come along at the stupidest of times and cause stress!

fastasleep · 24/09/2005 15:13

Aha! JM I was just reading the breastfeeding 'do your boobs still feel sexy' or something thread and someone said that having their nips played with gave them huge braxton hicks... lets try that! Lol!

Runs away to find hubby looking gleeful then remembers her back kills and flumps on the sofa

danishmummy · 24/09/2005 15:15

Fastasleep - glad you feel the same way sometimes... (Well, I am not glad, but you know what I mean )
DD also managed to squeeze a whole tube of toothpaste out on my newly bought bathroom rug while my friend was here!!! The joys...

danishmummy · 24/09/2005 15:17

Fastasleep - thanks for making me laugh!!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 24/09/2005 15:17

FA - thats all fine and well but DH would get an eyeful of milk!

fastasleep · 24/09/2005 15:17

Last time my mum was here I must admit to saying in a rather angry voice 'If you ask me whether I'm all right one more time I swear I'm going to hit something!!!!!!!!!!!!!'

I think I'd counted 25 times in an hour before I got to that point though - she's a very annoying woman! (And I was fine, we were walking around a park for goodness sake!)

fastasleep · 24/09/2005 15:18

Aww JM my DH likes the milk he says it tastes like toffee...

I'm so going to go do the rest of the vacuming before this degenerates even more!!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 24/09/2005 15:20

NO FA - NO!!!

DH wont go near them...... i might have to trick him later and see what he says!

fastasleep · 24/09/2005 15:23

My DH helped me through mastitis and expressing for 9 months last time, he's a very good er... breast stimulater

Ack if I don't do it now I'll never do it, DS has been taken to Granny and Grandad's for the night as we're off to see a shite zombie movie (yay thanks DH! Ooh maybe it'll scare Sophia out!)... I have to do some sort of cleaning... The midwife's coming on Wednesday, it can't look like this then!

Talking of midwife my MIL (a nurse) is thinking of formally complaining about this silly 9am-5pm only homebirthing situation lol

fastasleep · 24/09/2005 15:24

That should be 'stimulator'

morningpaper · 24/09/2005 15:39

Hmm just been doing the bushed with my electric hedge-trimmer - all the neighbours come over to gawp and say "You shouldn't be doing that!"

Then to prove them right I have NEARLY sliced through the cable again - DOH DOH DOH - but it's still working so I'll patch it up with electrical tape and hope for the best...

Got to go and clear up all my clippings now - ARGH that bending down is deffo bad for the back!

nervousmum2be · 24/09/2005 15:47

Afternoon Ladies. I've been doing my final 'nesting' bits today - i cleaned the oven hob, have done 2 loads of washing so DP doesn't have to do it whilst i'm in hospital, and i've scrubbed the bathroom from top to bottom. All that's left for tomorrow now is to clean and polish myself - i forsee a whole day of pampering, facial scrubs, aromatherapy baths, the full monty

Boo's been making some very odd shapes since i finished my cleaning frenzy - it looks like he's lying sideways now. Still, i don't suppose it matters for a c-section, right? I'm pretty sure his head is still engaged as i constantly need a wee, so i'm hoping He's just repositioned his arms/legs awkwardly.

Good luck for your hospital stay Moomin, i hope it's not too bad for you, and it'll all be worth it in the end

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, NM2B x

mawbroon · 24/09/2005 16:36

Oh MP you are brave. Our garden is a tip just now and I really can't face it. DH can't do it because he's busy doing all the jobs inside that I have been nagging him to do . There's sooo much to do in the garden at this time of year. I hope I get my green tomamto chutney made before I pop!!

triceratops · 24/09/2005 17:20

I have just been raking up the leaves from last winter because I bought an incinerator today. I am a closet pyromaniac . My garden is beginning to shape up, the house however is a pigsty and the ironing is going to take most of tomorrow morning.

I am taking ds (and dh) out for a pizza in a min as a treat for being lovely all day.

DM you sound very stressed - it is so good to have a friend around so that you can have a rant or a good cry when you need to let off steam. I hope your mum can come and help out when your baby arrives as you and your dd need the support. I am assuming from your post that your dad is not very useful when it comes to childcare ?

danishmummy · 24/09/2005 20:04

Triceratops - I hope your pizza was tasty. Yep, friends are truly precious. Am pretty stressed, everything just having built up, I guess...

Yes, dd and I could truly do with the support and help from my mum. I am terrified, how it is all going to work out... At least dd is now in nursery and loving it -- that will take a bit of the pressure off my predicted stress of not being able to give her the same attention as before.

No, dad is not very useful when it comes to the practical sides of childcare. He is a very devoted grandad, though, loving the playtimes and fun part of it! Typical male!?

How efficient most of you are in your gardens!! Did you get the fire going? Excuse me for not knowing: when are you due?

Baby now seems to be breech... and nearly kicking me off the chair at this moment! Still a week and a half to do the turning. Maybe turning back the day after!

Redtartanlass · 24/09/2005 20:33

BBB lol in fact lol very very loud at your dh could see where you were going wrong I?m surprised you let him near you again . And as for the jigsaw pml.

Moomin ? you have every right to be fragile at the moment, but at least you?ll have something brill at the end of it. Good luck for tomorow

Elf ? you never know baby might oblige and come before section. Fingers crossed for you and your mum

Dmum ? hang in there girl, you?re doing really well, moving house, moving country and splitting up with partner all within in a couple of weeks. AND youre over 8 months pregnant. Credit where credits due. As for your dad, you never know a miracle may happen when he meets his new grandchild.

Can?t wait to find out who?s next??..

Jockey · 24/09/2005 21:04

Moomin - just to wish you all the very best for your hospital stay. Take care.

Elf - hoping those remedies work for you - good luck!

BBB - Oh great, I'll take in that 1000 piece aeroplane jigsaw that's gathering dust. That'll really take my mind off labour! Could threaten to scatter the pieces everywhere if I don't get my pain relief.

Finally had a surge of energy today - thought it would never happen. Frantically moving bedroom furniture around and clearing out drawers (most unlike me). I need to get everything done before I collapse in a heap again! Dh has 'flu or something and I've totally ignored him today -feel like a woman possessed with this nesting business.

[Off to read the rest of the thread now. Hope I haven't missed a birth - this is getting spooky!]

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 24/09/2005 21:22

Hello girlies.... well after all the is this it is it not - its not!

All has calmed down now and feel almost normal again! A few aches in my back but nothing like i had from 9pm last night!

Back to Bding to get this baby moving me thinks - just not tonight - Dad has decided he is staying overnight so that will have to wait til tomorrow!

SusiS · 24/09/2005 22:07

gosh you girls have been busy
tried to catch up but can't keep my eyes open any longer! will do it tomorrow

anyways, we are back from mil's and it was actually quite nice! ds deffintily enjoyed all the attention and i got to put my feet up alot

AND the heating is finally installed. we are quite impressed how quick they were (3,5 days) and no mess at all - well, no more than i left myself

bubs was great and behaved. was a bit worried she'd appear early! got lots it twinges and aches and pains but nothing really serious - just yet ...
still another 8 days to go till edd!!!!!!!!!!

dp is out with neighbours right now; but told him not to get drunk just in case i need him

will catch up with you properly tomorrow

Redtartanlass · 24/09/2005 22:16

Susis - think you should send your heating guys to hester's house. Get her hot water sorted.
Glad you had a good break though, PIL sound great.

SusiS · 25/09/2005 09:26

oh no hester how annoying. and especially now!!!! hope you get your hot water sorted really quickly!!!!!

yes lass, mil was quite allright really. was a bit worried to spend so long there but she behaved - also sometimes i wished she'd back off from ds and just let him get on with things. but then again she doesn't get to see him often!

oh boy, what a night! dp came home at 2ish and i was still wide awake. so i convienced him it was the perfect time to get started on getting this bubs out - we broke the bed!!!!!!

unfortunately ds doesn't care and wanted up at 6.15; so here i am and looking at the chaos we've got at home.
but then again - who cares?!
we had quite a few exhausting months so now we just try and take it easy! one step after the other ...

triceratops · 25/09/2005 10:34

I was reading in the new scientist last week about how becoming a father affects men. Apparantly they start to produce a lot of oxytocin in the three weeks leading up to the birth (just from living with a woman who is the shape of an egg ). This makes them more loved up and gentle than usual in theory.

On the day of the birth itself their testosterone levels fall by half and take a couple of months to build up to normal levels again. Presumably this is so that they don't feel violent towards the new baby before they fall in love with it, and they don't need sex for a few weeks.

Has anyone noticed their partners behaving differently?

Elf1981 · 25/09/2005 10:35

Ohhhh, want Boo to come out soon!
Last night I cried for ten minutes because I couldn't do a Suduko puzzle and DH & sis were annoying me trying to be helpful. I did it eventually, followed by the embarassment of a standing ovation from the family!

Hardly slept last night with a bad back and pains in my side.

Mawbroon - dont worry about the fluid. I can feel Boo quite clearly but the last scan I had they said that my fluid levels were very good, so try not to worry. Have you done any reading about manual turning? I wasn't keen on it but luckily the hospital didn't push for me to do it.

Sitting here waiting for a kick from Boo, thinking they're going to have a quiet day today.

Also, as for jigsaws etc to take mind off labour, the "What to Expect While Your Expecting" suggests taking a laptop!!

nervousmum2be · 25/09/2005 13:05

Elf - me too with the hardly sleeping. Last time i looked at the clock, it was gone 3am(!), and DP really wasn't helping with his snoring. To top it all off, i've woken up this morning (when i eventually got to sleep!) with a really painful right hip and knee that won't shift despite paracetamol . God only knows how i'm supposed to sleep tonight. It's like being a kid, waiting for christmas morning.

Elf1981 · 25/09/2005 13:17

My DH isn't helping with his "x amount of sleeps til Boo arrives" singing! I actually think it's really sweet

Struggled this morning to shave my legs. Thinking of booking myself in for having my legs waxed before going into hospital, but not sure if its true it's more painful when pregnant. Got to be better than me trying to pull my legs into positions where I can shave them!
