That floats on high o'er vales and hills
When all at once I saw a crowd
Of cackling, quaffing, ne-er-do-wells

Pull up a seat, grap a glass of vino and a piece of sushi, it's Delitime again.

Howard Goodall? Classic FM? Fey Spanish dancers?

PAH!

I once sang in a workshop at the National Theatre on the South Bank with the world's greatest living operatic bass SIR WILLARD WHITE (you may approach me and kiss my hand).

During a break in rehearsal he wandered through we humble crowd of choral singers, clocked me (almost 6 foot in heels, talc-white face, waist-length hair like a haystack and an arse like two pigs fighting in a tight black satin blanket), and did such a massive double-take he cannoned into a pillar and spilt his Starbucks.

I do not plan to call a child of mine Willard. Unless he is Sir Willard's of course (by no means unlikely har har).

Ariesgirl · 24/11/2010 15:38

That's nothing: I once shagged Bryn Terfyl.

MrsFC · 24/11/2010 15:40

ME ME ME - I want to play!!!

You are all very cultured n that. I plan to lower the tone.

I will to name my son Ringo as my Dad took the photograph of the Sgt Pepper album cover. He was stoned. Drugs run in my family, it must have led to my supremely strong immune system.

Headbanger · 24/11/2010 15:43

Bryn Terfel? A TENOR?! Piss off. I ain't interested unless they can reach bottom C

MrsFC got any Clarissa on you?

Ariesgirl · 24/11/2010 15:45

I think you'll find HB I think you'll find that Bryn is actually a bass baritone. And therefore he has no problem reaching bottom C.

Headbanger · 24/11/2010 15:47

Oh whatever. He's Welsh. And not as famous as WW. And I think what's crucial here is the level of international renown. Niche names simply won't cut it.

Ariesgirl · 24/11/2010 15:50

Oh really? Really? I think you'll find that Bryn won the Lieder prize at the Cardiff Singer of the World when he was a boy in his twenties. His career is stellar. You're just jealous because you're not Welsh.

Headbanger · 24/11/2010 15:55

His career is mildly impressive compared to that of SIR (I said SIR) Willard White, who is also one fuck of a lot sexier. Erm. For an old man.

Headbanger · 24/11/2010 16:11

Yes nothing floats my boat like a preening fat-faced Welshman in a salmon-coloured velvet frock coat.

Ariesgirl · 24/11/2010 16:28

Oh, like Willard's never worn a costime? Actually the pair of them look like multi-hued Weebles.

Get your coat Bangers - we should leave. This is a preggos' thread, not a "cultural" oneupmanship thread for the still-to-be-diffed!

Ariesgirl · 24/11/2010 16:29

UME

ChoChoSan · 24/11/2010 16:34

helloooo...

Just popped in to say how lovely Scorps family congratulations were...that's what I have loved so much about being diffed - feeling the goodwill and joy from everyone, and knowing how loved and wanted my baybee will be when it arrives ,sniff.

Pollster so sorry to hear about HB anxieties, I am really rooting for you, as I know how gutted I would be if they try to pull the homebirth option at the last minute, especially when you are already being dragged down by SPD!

Casserole · 24/11/2010 16:52

Gah! Someone CAME ROUND, can you believe it?? You iz all VERY funny, iz all I am saying Grin

12pt yes, Zanprol's the right one. You can get it over t'counter, for anyone else struggling... they should know it by either name.

If Isadora turns out to be a boy that's GOT to make it into his best man's speech at his wedding Grin

LadyGoneGaga · 24/11/2010 17:02

Silver could be reflux causing pain as well. MiniG had a bit of that but not so much when feeding itself as that soothed him - more afterwards he would be sicky and hated lying down EVER. (Sling best thing I got to deal with this) This looks helpful.

Also, and you've prob thought of this, but is he particularly windy? Sometimes that can cause a bit of backarching behaviour. Esp if he gets a bit really stuck.

Could also be oversupply if you have a fast let-down reflex? Does he ever seem like he is choking a bit? Does it spray everywhere if he comes off mid-feed?

Maybe try one of the breastfeeding helplines - think they are really good and I may be leaving stuff out as been a couple of years since I had the early issues.

Lovely to see HB and Rie.

Am 5 weeks tomorrow! Grin

Scorpette · 24/11/2010 17:47

I only refer to the baybee as Isadora on here though, Cass. Name we use in private is actually even more potentially embarrassing Grin

Rie, have you really shagged Bryn Terfel? Confused We need clarification.

HB Sir WW. I would.

I've performed with the Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Co., which is a Big Deal in the dance world. I realise most people find dance quite zzzzz. I also sang 'We're J.O.G.G.I.N.G., we're jogging' on stage with Sooty & Sweep when I was little. BEAT THAT!

PS Javier de Frutos is Venezuelan.

Scorpette · 24/11/2010 17:53

(Sorry for dreadful boasting above Blush)

PrincessBoo · 24/11/2010 17:58

Waving at BH and Rierie. We miss you.

PrincessBoo · 24/11/2010 17:58

oops HB. Plz to excuse me, I am exhausted.

Ariesgirl · 24/11/2010 18:11

And if I had, like I'd own up! On MN!

Hello Boo!

Scorpette · 24/11/2010 18:16

Methinks the BESH doth protest too much Wink

PollyPoo · 24/11/2010 18:44

So have any of us actually shagged proper slebs? And WW... I would too.

You lot have kept me amused this evening while I was cooking. I have found I can cook if I perch on a stool. This does mean I have to be quite organised and get all my gredients (as Boo calls them) utensils and stuff handy, but it worked quite well. Especially as I had laptop on worktop next to me so I could lurk with intent in here. Grin We now have greek meatballs for dinner, yum.

Thanks for the sympathies. I should not really moan about the homebirth - I know the important thing is not how the baby arrives, but that he/she arrives safely. With regard to the SPD it is not too bad as long as I don't over do things. I am normally quite good at pushing through pain and just getting on, but this is not the way to deal with SPD apparently. Now I have twigged that I find I can do little bits around the house, then rest up for a couple of hours, then do a bit more. Still haven't managed any housework though - when I say I can do a bit, I mean wipe the kitchen sides down and unload the dishwasher, or do a few loads of washing. Blush It is so frustrating as I just want to nest. Still, I am not going to moan any more, honest.

Oh yes, forgot to mention earlier that baybee is starting his/her descent into my pelvis! Head is 4/5 engaged in midwife speak, or as I think of it 1/5 engaged. Yay!

Oh god... Boo has just gone for a poo. Not normally the end of the world, but the water has been off all day and we can't flush. eurgh.

Casserole · 24/11/2010 18:50

Dearest Poll:

  1. You are NOT moaning. Bad SPD is about as debilitating as it gets. Goodness only knows we moan about lesser things on here!
  1. Of course the only thing that really matters is a healthy baby at the end of it, but if that were the whole story we'd all just squat by the side of the road and pop em out. It's still a massive undertaking and one that you deserve to feel safe, confident, happy and respected in. And last minute changes just don't help with that.
  1. Everything you listed there IS housework. So no more saying you're not doing any. You're doing plenty.
  1. Pass the meatballs Grin
MrsFC · 24/11/2010 19:01

pol - what Cass said.

But give me more meatballs than her please.

Headbanger · 24/11/2010 19:04

Oh Poll. I wish I could come and give you a gentle cuddle and do your washing up. All differs have their troubles but this is a whole other level of nasty, and you are being A. Brick.

That is all.
