Just a new thread as I noticed we are near the limit (again)!

Suzy so sorry your doctor was unsympathetic - sorry to say but women can be the worst. I find all my female colleagues are the same - kind "if I can do it so can you" kind of mentality which assumes everyone will have an easy pregnancy which we all know is untrue.

I saw the physio yesterday and they have ordered me a belt to wear - apart from that they didn't have much advice apart from to rest. She said if I had not already been signed off work this is what she would recommend. I was in quite a lot of pain after the appointment as the physio department was a fair walk from the car park so not looking forward to going back in 2 weeks to get my belt!

How is everyone else today?

PDR · 10/11/2010 16:50

Suzy can the midwife sign you off or is it only a GP?

suzym1984 · 10/11/2010 16:56

I have no idea PDR, never been signed off before so I feel a bit clueless! Im wondering if maybe I didnt make myself clear enough/ say the right things?!

Just checked my bank and HIP money is in., woohoo!

PDR · 10/11/2010 17:04

At least that's something to make you :)

My (rubbish) midwife didn't even have the form to give me Hmm

Maybe try speaking to the midwife and if they cannot actually sign you off themselves they could perhaps explain your situation to the GP in better terms? Definately see another GP when you go back though - will do no harm!

wigglesrock · 10/11/2010 17:06

suzy Great news about Hip money, I am waiting on mine (mama needs a new pair of shoes) might invest it Wink. Posted a few times on your other thread, good luck with midwife phonecall. I was waiting on mine ringing yesterday and she rang about 8pm, was dreading the conversation (having a bit of a rigmarole re where I'm having baby) but all went well ie I got what I wanted Smile

DD1 has already started practising songs for nativity play!!! Can feel my brain leaking out of my ears, last year I knew her lines, everyones lines, all the stage directions etc.

angels1 · 10/11/2010 17:11

suzy I believe your GP has to sign you off, not your mw. You could get your mw to write in your pg notes that she would recommend you not to work though - think that's what mine did, so if GP make a fuss I could show that to her (in any event, I was lucky - GP signed me off before I could even make the suggestion!). Also, I didn't quite connect that you were the suzy from the pg thread that works in the challenging sounding school - I'm convinced now you should defo not be at work at the min.

And PDR I agree - women can be the worst - it's some of the women at work that give me dirty looks and ignore me when I go in not the men.

ledkr I have no clothes either - I have one pair of mat jeans, one dress, some cardis, a coat and 2 tops - that's it! I'm currently in an old pair of joggers that are OK but I can't go out in them as they have holes in the crotch Blush. I was thinking about what to put in my hospital bag when I do it as I have no spare clothes to pack and assume pre preg clothes won't yet fit me when I leave hospital. Think I might be forced to find a comfy pair of trousers somewhere.

angels and wigglesrock thanks for your posts on the other thread, I appreciate it. Still waiting on the MW ringing me. If I see another dr tomorrow do you have any advice on how I can actually get what I want this time? Maybe not crying like a baby will help me Blush

Sympathies about the no-clothes scenario. Have you tried ebay for maternity wear? I have been very impressed so far with my baby clothes purchases.

supadupa900 · 10/11/2010 17:43

Tullulah I think a puppy and baby is a bit ambitious. I've had dogs forever, and we tend to go for rescue dogs, as although cute an adorable, puppies really are lots of hard work, what with house training, trying to stop them chewing on the walls, furniture and precious shoes (it's true, we had one that took a real liking to high heels!) An older rescue dog will usually come ready house trained, and let's face it, puppies turn into grown ups too! This is my first baby, so obviously don't know what to expect, but just the thought of having to clear up puppy poo and puddles as well as deal with nappies is a bit much. Just remembered something, one of the dogs we had, came from a house where the husband got another dog everytime the wife had a baby- they had 7 of each, which is why the dogs ended up going to other homes! Anyway, that's my take on it for what it's worth! Good luck!

angels1 · 10/11/2010 17:45

suzy my mum (who's a nurse and has worked with alot of docs) always says that docs like to think they know best and don't like patients to tell them what they have/need. Her advice is always to phrasae things so they think they come up with the decision then you feel happy as you get what you want and they feel smug at doing the best thing - so walking in to a GP saying 'I can't take this anymore please sign me off' might not have the desired affect, whereas going in and explaining what you have to do for your job and how you are atruggling and that you're at the end of your tether and feeling rotten and don't know what to do might have thr desired effect Hmm. Depends on the doc though really I guess.

Awww Supadupa and Wiggles, you are the voices of reason. I know deep down it would be too much work, but I've reeeally wanted a dog for the last five years, and someone suggested that it would be a good time to bed them in, while I'd be at home all day. But you're right, the double whammy of poo might be too much to handle :(

Will still go to the dog fair though - will be good to speak to breeders to pick a breed that won't get toooo big, but be quite chilled out as well.

tadjennypumpkinpie · 10/11/2010 18:24

Have been lurking, but it takes so long to read the updates sometimes that I have to go and do something with the dcs before I get a chance to post! Hope you get signed off soon suzy. At the very least take the weekend off to feel refreshed. I am struggling to do my shoes up too ledkr and I don't have SPD. I do have to wear winter shoes constantly as we have snow lying at the moment. Doing the laces up is a pain now, never mind come February! Grin

40Weeks · 10/11/2010 20:30

Hi everyone

Have been lurking also but just didn't have anything exciting to contribute/time to post. I hope you get signed off Suzy and that you get some rest and feel better.

Tallulah I know what you mean about wanting the puppy but I think you are right to wait. Once the baby starts crawling you will be glad not to have a young dog licking it's face or even worrying about cleaning the floors everyday, as you never know what they bring in on their feet. I would love a puppy, and it's hard to get a rescue dog when you have kids (well we found it was anyway) because they aren't always suitable to revoked with small children. I think when the kids are at school I would like one so that I have time to devote to it, would be our 4th baby!!!

40Weeks · 10/11/2010 20:32

Meant rehomed, not revoked! Auto spell corrected it!

Anyone else suffering with cramp! Wakes me up every night and have to run to bathroom floor which is cool, to help ease it

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 10/11/2010 20:35

OT for the thread topic, but inspired by 40Weeks' post, I share with you... damnyouautocorrect.com Grin

Suzy - what angels1 said.

give the doctors the symptoms and let them work out the treatment, it makes them feel like they are earning their money Grin

your mental health is much more important than work.

hope you feel better soon.

ZeroMinusZero · 10/11/2010 20:53

I've been quieter too recently, but have still been reading everything. Just too tired with work and everything. I still haven't got my signed off letter from the GP but I'm going to see obstetrics tomorrow morning (hopefully to see a physio?) so we'll see what happens there.

Baby is moving a lot today. Now to watch the Apprentice.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

WanderingSheep · 10/11/2010 21:15

Tallulahbelly, I definitely wouldn't get a puppy while you have a baby! They poo and wee everywhere and it won't be pleasant when your baby is crawling, not to mention the dog hair. We used to have an English Cocker Spaniel who was lovely. They are usually lovely dogs and don't grow very big, although they're very intelligent so need lots of stimulation and walks. My sister has one and he is lovely with my 18 month old nephew (he's five though so already house trained etc). They got him when my other nephew was about 6 or 7.

Suzy, your GP sounds like an arse! You were in tears in the surgery, why can't she just sign you off FGS? Angry

My TPT measurement was 8 so gone up a little since last week! I have my 25 week check with the MW tomorrow so I hope I'll get to hear the heartbeat. She's really active at the moment (the baby not the MW) so I've no worries but it's always nice to hear! Smile

WanderingSheep · 10/11/2010 21:20

I know how you feel Zero! I read sometimes and even have things to say but I'm just so tired to put my brain into gear and type a sentence out! It...just...takes...too...much...energy! Smile

tadjennypumpkinpie · 10/11/2010 22:49

Am I the only one who relies on the prof to tell me how many weeks I am? I remember my appointments but that's about it! Grin

angels1 · 11/11/2010 07:36

am lol so much at the link prof put up :)

tadjenny I remember all through the first trimester I would wait for stat updates and just find myself on the list to feel happy to have got another day/week further and look at others further than me and think 'that'll be me soon' Grin . Think I'm probably the only one in that respect though - I just felt so terrible that a reminder that I'd soon be at the (not so magic after all) 12 weeks mark got me through.

Is anyone else struggling to get their shoes and socks on in the morning Blush.

WanderingSheep · 11/11/2010 09:41

? oops someone nicked my question mark!

40Weeks · 11/11/2010 09:53

Morning, thanks for link prof, I will have a look in a sec. In a right grump though, hubby went out and got pissed last night, which is fine, but invites his mum and aunt over for dinner while pissed and forgets to tell me. Mil calls this morning to see what time, I know nothing about it and normally wouldn't mind buts it's our 10 year anniversary and was hoping for a romantic evening, possibly even an amorous one!!!! Esp as we didnt see eachother last night. And now I have to spend day cleaning. And to top it off weather is thoroughly shit.

I know these are trivial things but just can't shift this foggy low feeling which is terribly unfair on DCs.

Maybe I need chocolate to lift the mood

40Weeks · 11/11/2010 09:55

Ha ha that link is helping! Most amusing
