Well girls I'm back, so you can start a new thread now if you like, as I think I'm the last to get scanned (I know Amanda is later, but it was her suggestion to do after me if the thread was getting too long, as she'd already had other scans etc, so will leave it upto someone else!)
Anyway! all is well placenta is out of way, hurrah! and it looks like we're having another girl so hardly have to buy any new clothes as similar time of year baby to dd, phew on cost!! Dh now panicking at house full of teenage girls and their spending needs

BW Carbonara!! breakfast

Flame pushchairs....erm....most of the travel systems are large I think is the problem with them, as are the 3 wheelers, if you can get a lie flat from birth buggy, those will go into smaller boots, but then you have to take baby out of car seat, so hassle transfering them over....sounds like a trip to mothercare/toys r us, to try them all out for size is in order...good luck

flamebat · 12/10/2005 16:35

ANOTHER girl???

The thing with the pushchair is so annoying - it is only a matter of about 1 1/2 inches to make it an easy fit . I think I'll look up the stats for the one I've got, and then I can go from there...

Was I the only other person who thought that carbanara for breakfast sounded really nice?

Frizbe · 12/10/2005 16:36

each to their own flame yep I'm on my 2nd one!!

YeahBut · 12/10/2005 17:11

More girls!! This thread will be simmering away nicely in a soup of oestrogen then. Great news Frizbe.

Haven't fancied carbonara for brekkie but have become massively carnivorous. Eating red meat more than I ever have done. Perhaps it is an iron thing. Could murder bacon and sausage butties for breakfast but (a) am conscious that I get weighed at EVERY ante-natal appointment and (b) couldn't find time to make them during our mad rush to get everyone ready for work and school!

Bewitched · 12/10/2005 17:18

Whoopee Frizbe! Better not remind DH that he'll need to start saving to pay for their weddings then!!

Flame - you're welcome for brekkie round mine anytime . It actually kept me really well filled up though - hadn't had anything else until a corn on the cob a few mins ago, so was obviously a good idea .

Well I finally got through to the stupid baby store, and they were politely civil without ever giving the impression of being helpful! Have discovered that Two Left Feet in Kempston also stock the furniture range, so might try going to them instead. They're going to be at the Baby Show too, so can see them there. Popadopolis - their big store is up by you - have you been there - are they any good?

Bewitched · 12/10/2005 17:33

Oh, think we need to wait a couple more days for Kando's scan before starting the new thread don't we - I remember she said they were a bit late doing them over there, but can't remember if she said they would tell the sex or not.

Morgan · 12/10/2005 19:49

Hi everyone. Haven't posted for a while but am always reading to keep up to date. Just had to catch up with about a week so took a while. I had my scan last week and all was well except head a bit small and she couldn't get a good picture of the brain so have to go back in two weeks. DH has a small head so i'm blaming him!

I ended up spending a couple of days in hospital two weeks ago as i had a violent sickness and the rest bug and was dehydrated so on a drip and anti-sickness tabs. Did get a good rest though as they put me in a side room!

Bewitched - i would love to meet up once you are on maternity leave - doesn't apply to me as i'm a sahm with a 4 yr old ds - as lond as it's before Xmas as we are emigrating between Xmas and New year. Have you tried the new "Totsgear" shop in Hitchin ? for cots and pushchairs - they seem pretty good.

ixel · 12/10/2005 19:49

Am also eating loads, but thats through boredom. Ds has decided to get chickenpox, prob as a result of dh's shingles, so we're quarrantined! I took him to the woods today, as I thought there would be a low chance of infecting people in an open space, but he got tired pretty quickly, and ratty. Poor thing. At least he's so tired its making it easier to keep him in bed (we're in the middle of the transition from cot) So any indoor activity ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

Re the buggy dilemma, I'd say you've got no chance of a 3 wheeler that folds up small!! Try having a look on the practical pushchairs website though. Micralites are pretty small and look similar, but I'm sure you cant get a car seat attachment. And I agree with whoever mentioned the quinnys though. They're really nice, and you can put a maxi cosi seat on. But if you want them to match in colour, it ends up being an extra 20 quid or something!!

popadopalis · 12/10/2005 19:50

Hey girls! Sorry but have to start with a moan. I sick and tired of feeling sick and tired! And I'm fed up with work, although my lot do seem to be slightly more sympathetic than yours Amanda. However, I am not doing too well working, I'm exhausted and feeling sick again. I'm going to docs tomorrow and hopefully he'll sign me off again. Since being back at work I have been left by myself to do everything three days even though I was supposed to have my colleague with me as I haven't been there for so long and don't know half the clients. Anyway, I've decided that Baby comes first and I'm not going to get ill and stressed again when no one really cares if I'm there or not.

Amanda - If you need to go home just go, that's what I've learned. If you wait for someone to care then you'll be waiting forever. Sorry, that sounds harsh, not meant to be harsh at you just pissed off with my work too. I waited and wanted to seek permission but in the end I just told them what I was doing. They can't do anything to you anyway as the law is on your side with this one.

Bewitched - Can't wait for my hodilays!! Two days to go!! And about Two Left Feet, I have been and did not think much of their service. I could hear the people in the warehouse swearing and making crude comments not really the prefect background to shopping for your new arrival!! Also heard bad reports about them. Twiga, another MNetter, finally cancelled her order with them cos they wouldn't deliver and they wouldn't speak to her on the phone about it. Also heard that they went bankrupt a few years ago and actually do business under the name of Two Right Feet although the shop is still called Two Left Feet. I would stay clear to be honest but it's up to you.

Frizbe & Kando - went to midwife on Tuesday and told her about my pubic discomfort! She told me it was becuase everything loosens up in pregnancy but told me to mention it to my GP. Not sure why I have to tell him but I'll mention it tomorrow and let you know what he says.

Hope everyone is well or coping at least.

ixel · 12/10/2005 19:52

Hi Morgan... I never manage be be around when anyone else is!!
I reckon, based on the scan pic, that my dh is to blame for this one having a huge nose. We shall wait and see! It should be really clear on my 34 week scan.

Morgan · 12/10/2005 19:59

Ixel - a friend of mine had her nuchal scan last week and said the baby had a big nose even then!!

Bewitched · 12/10/2005 20:20

Oh dear Pops - that's not what I was wanting to hear about two left/right feet!! Seems like I'm going to have to get my furniture from someone not so great whichever I go for . Maybe I'll try them out on a phone test tomorrow .

Morgan - funnily enough I also phoned totsgear this afternoon, as Britax gave me their name as someone who 'should' be able to get the carseat I want in the colour I want (I know, I know, I'm too fussy!). The gentleman I spoke to was very helpful, so I'd happily do business with them on that score. Unfortunately they don't stock all the stuff that I want, but he did even advise me to get the base (isofix) of the seat from Kiddicare and the seat itself from him, when I told him how much more expensive he was than they were (but they can only get 2nd choice colour). Have you been to the store - do they have lots of 'sundry' stuff too (eg change bags, bedding etc)?

Popadopolis - sounds like staying off work is the best plan for you. Maybe the 3 of us will be able to meet up on a weekday in November then - I can be reasonably flexible even before mat leave because of being self-employed, but am expecting to be busier in Oct than Nov, and of course pops is off on hols!

Ixel - hope DS's chickenpox clears up soon.

Amanda - hope you're ok and just absent because you're resting.

Right, best get off and get ready to go out - Wednesday night is pub quiz night for me!

Frizbe · 12/10/2005 20:24

Ixel, lol at huge nose!
Pop, thanks for the advice, I'll mention mine to midwife next week, although its not bothering me today! see what she says....
Morgan glad your feeling better {{{Hugs}}} not a good thing to have happen, but on the mend now right?
Bewitched is dh at the moment, but he did bring me a lovely bunch of flowers home tonight aww bless, told ss and he just went pah! so dh reminded him that he was still the one and only son, which cheered him up a bit, dh also jokingly I hope.. said, well we can always try later for a boy not if I have anything to do with it, three in the family is enough for me!!
On a fabby note, I txt'd all my old maternity friends from last time with the news, and one of them rang me back and said she's 3mths pregnant as of this week had her scan today, so was now telling people the good news! which will mean our new babies have the same gap as our last two kids so playmates all round!! and someone else to share my fustrations with in person!!

Morning guys,

I went to see that second hand pram last night which is in mint condition and looks fantastic so I am really pleased, she is also throwing in 2 baby rocker/bouncy chair things, play mats and a door swing for next to nothing so I am getting some right bargains. Part of me feels a little cheap because it would be nice to get all new stuff for my first and some people have turned their nose up at me getting second hand this and second hand that but I just can't justify spending buckets of cash on something that won't get it's full wear, iyswim? I have bought a new cot though - I was just funny about that.

The chinese predictor didn't work for me Frizbe, I can't believe how many girls are on this thread, if this is the norm throughout Britain I will def be locking my little boy up until he is 30!

flamebat · 13/10/2005 09:15

Sorry - no time to reply to everyone (you need to talk less when I'm not on )

Think I have managed to convince DH that a small pram would be a good plan I've always loved prams, but could never justify one because we had the travel system. I told him that I could hunt for one to fit in the boot, that it would be better for the baby not to be in the car seat all the time, and that it would give me something to sleep it in downstairs if I needed... DD was easy - she could sleep anywhere, but this one has danger of being "loved" if it sleeps on the lounge floor!!!

Bewitched · 13/10/2005 09:38

Chloe - just heard from one of my best friends who's due at the end of Feb and she's found out she's having a boy, so your little one won't be on his own!

Chloe55 · 13/10/2005 10:01

Who's the other boy maker on here, I'm sure there was more than just little me! My friend is 14 weeks pregnant but I don't think she is gonna find out the flavour at her 20 week scan, I really want her to though!

ixel · 13/10/2005 10:03

Hi Chloe. I wouldn't worry about whether stuff is new or not. Its new to the baby! For ds, the only thing we got new was the cot mattress and a sterilizer (and about 7 buggies to date, as I cant help myself!). Everything else was hand me downs and NCT sales. And this baby will be using it all again, 3rd hand! I've never seen a problem; its more fun to hunt down bargains, apart from the fact that we dont have the kind of money you need to buy it all new. And luckilt my friend is due with her first in May,so although I dont need to shop for myself, I can get my bargain fix by helping her!!!

Bewitched · 13/10/2005 10:55

No it's not just you Chloe. 3k, Mimi5 and MrsDoolittle are all having boys too.

Bewitched · 13/10/2005 12:18

Now I've created a dilemma for myself! Was planning on getting the carrycot to go with the mountain buggy pushchair, and having the britax cosy tot premium isofix car seat. Slightly frustrated that the carrycot isn't available in a colour that I would pick (waiting for confirmation from MB themselves on this), and it costs £110 , I've just discovered that the car seat will fit on the Britax Trekker frame, and getting this frame will end up costing about the same as getting the MB carrycot.

So now my dilemma is do I get the extra Britax pushchair frame just for the first few months, or do I get the MB carrycot just for the first few months. Decisions, decisions! Better have a push of the frame somewhere before I decide!
