Girls you don't need Sat Nav to find olympia, its easy!! straight down Kensington Highstreet, carry on, on same road and its on the right! honestly I live in deepest Derbyshire and I found it easily! so if I can anyone can right?!

Popadop, go to the NHS ones by yourself, you'll be fine, I made two very good friends there last time.

Flame 3pak good idea, must go and buy some tops!

Chloe thanks for the info on Amanda, sure you'll let her know we're all thinking of her, I think we should start a campaign for all hospitals to allow laptops/have laptops on the maternity wards, so all bedridden mums can still have access to mumsnet!!

Well I had a good weekend, here's my summary in brief!!
Well Wedding was good, dh rather drunk, but bearable and got a nice lie in Sunday am, a whole 8hrs sleep with no small child waking me up, oh how lovely
So wondered round York window shopping, and had a nice cake at Bettys (posh tea shop if you don't know it) then drove home, promptly threw up on my parents drive when we got there, although it seemed to contain mainly breakfast, so can only assume something upset me? as was feeling queasy most of afternoon, but had put it down to my cold and the bump......bump still kicking ok, so hasn't harmed the little one...scan on Wed, roll on scan!

kando · 10/10/2005 13:16

Afternoon all. Hope everyone is well - haven't been keeping up to date with the thread at the moment, so hope everyone is OK.

Wonder if anyone can shed any light on this - every now and then I get a sharp pain "deep" in the muscle (if you can call it that!) of my left buttock. It happens when I'm walking or going up/down stairs, not when I'm sitting or lying down. I've no idea what it could be and I've never had it in either of my previous pgs. I also think I may have SPD(?) as I sometimes find it very painful to get up and walk from a sitting or lying position - feels like my pubic bone is going to break! (Does that sound like SPD?) I'm loathe to go to the GPs about it as Dutch doctors have a different view about things. I have an appointment with my gynae in a 2 weeks so I will ask him then, but just wondered what you ladies thought. Also been feeling very nauseous recently during the day, with horrid acid indigestion in the evenings, along with the most ridiculous dry throat/mouth during the night, having to get up to wee every couple of hours ... what a moaning minnie. In some ways, I'll be glad when it's all over!! I'll shove off and stop moaning now!

Chloe55 · 10/10/2005 13:26

That buttock pain might possibly be sciatica? Feel free to correct me if I am wrong anyone as I don't experience it but a friend had similar pains going up her leg too and that's what it came down to - just a thought, don't think there is any miracle cure for it. As for the pelvis pain, no idea I am afraid.

Your weekend sounds good Frizbe, I am increasingly finding DH hard to cope with at the mo, don't get me wrong I love him to bits but have never been a fan of him drunk when I am sober and it might just be the fact that I am sober ALL the time but he seems drunk ALL the time!!! Sometimes my weekends suck because of it but I guess I just need to accept that other people still enjoy a drink or two even if I can't.

Oh well, moan over.

I am getting a pram/pushchair originally from Mamas and Papas and originally £700 + a few other bits and bats for £200 from a friend so very pleased at that. I planned on buying all new stuff but then couldn't justify it when people are throwing out decent stuff that would be saving us a few quid.

TicTac · 10/10/2005 13:49

hey chloe sounds like a great deal on your pushchair! I have just been into town and there was a bloke selling off wall stickers (about 3' tall) for £1 each. I looked for an eeyore for you but they only had tigger...sorry!

I got a few little things from the Debenhams sale for Tickers (we have moved on from TicTac since she is so much bigger then a tic tac now!)

Off to my consultant appointment in about 20 mins. Will let you know how it goes.

Chloe55 · 10/10/2005 14:00

Ah thanks for the thought TicTac. Have fun at the consultants.

Glad to see you are back Amanda, put your feet up and get some rest. I take it you managed to find a sitter for DD for you - is she back home now?

TicTac · 10/10/2005 16:38

Glad your back and ok Amanda.
I am however currently very annoyed with consultant at stupid hospital!!

  1. They where running late...again. That is every appointment I have had so far!
  2. She was not so good with English
  3. She could not find my scan report
  4. She could not find my bloods
  5. She could not remember how to use the doppler
  6. She didn't listen to a word I said about my GTT concerns and instead just wrote in my notes "Not happy with GTT"
  7. Has asked me to go back at 32 weeks because I am not happy about GTT....WTF????
  8. Still didn't book me in to give birth despite the fact it should have been done at booking in appointment...I asked her...she ignored me!

Roll on my midwife appointment on Monday..I might get some sense out of her!!

SORRY FOR RANT!!!!

Chloe55 · 10/10/2005 16:43

Jesus she sounds absolutely crap TicTac, I must say my consult appointment was a waste of time too, he did nothing at all and again could barely speak English. Thank God for the midwives! I know how you feel though, just feels such a waste of your time - USELESS!

Off home soon, taking my nan out for tea for her birthday but could just do with sliiping into my warm cosy bed with a mug of Horlicks, never mind.

TicTac · 10/10/2005 16:47

Oh Chloe at least it's not just me. I thought I must have sounded like a right moaning mini but I just got so pissed off!!
Oh and I forgot to mention there was a student nurse there who took neigh on 10 mins to get my blood preassure....I know she got it wrong because it was way below my usual but I thought....whatever...it'll be taken again on Monday!!!

Frizbe · 10/10/2005 16:59

Arghh TicTac not a good afternoon, bloomin hospitals....arse from elbow sometimes......which one are you at?

Chloe bargin! jammy you!

Kando, I had a trapped femeral nerve which kept doing a similar thing to your back pain last time, except mine was more front and side on the right leg, however this time round, I'm getting pains down the back of the left leg.....reckon its sciatica...let me know if you find out any different!

TicTac · 10/10/2005 17:13

Frizbe I am at Bolton Royal. I am going to sound like such a snob now but we don't live in bolton, this just happens to be the nearest hospital but every time I go around 80% of the pregnant people I see are either younger then 20 or very un-kept shall we say. I didn't think it was bothering me until today when the consultant spoke to me like I must be stupid....which I am not despite recent pregnancy brain efforts
I am going to wait until we have had a tour of the birthing areas and if I am not happy then I will move hospitals. I have no intentions of letting it get to me! I am really starting to enjoy the pregnancy so will not settle for multiple crap experiences at the hospital! Well, not if I can help it

flamebat · 10/10/2005 17:14

Glad you're back Amanda, rest as much as you can!

Tictac - ARGH for you!

I've realised that I bought a new car with a bigger boot, and my old travel system is STILL a nightmare to get in - it is too deep and takes a hell of a lot of manouvering to get it in. Gonna see if DH can drop any subtle hints to his daddy and see if he fancies buying somethign nice for his new grandchild - not holding out much hope though... they all bought big things for DD, so we shuld have been set for this one

Anyone else eating everything in sight? I went out for a meal with my dad yesterday and had....

Prawn Cocktail
14oz Steak, with all potatoes, mushrooms etc
Onion rings and garlic mushrooms
HUGE icecream sundae

Got back to my mum's and she had about 3/4 of a plate of special chow mein going spare, so I ate that... then a plum... then got home and had an apple. I only stopped because I was tired and needed to sleep - not because I felt full!!! All of that was between 3.30pm and 9.30pm!!!

TicTac · 10/10/2005 17:21

Flame...PMSL at your eating habits!!
Can't say I am eating any volume of anything at the minute! If I eat a tea it seems to repeat on me all night so sticking to small tea time portions! Nibble through the day though!

Has anyone been to the babyshow before???

popadopalis · 10/10/2005 19:00

Hey girls! Been feeling really rough again the past few days but perking up a bit now. I think going back to work has taken it's toll on me and not sure how long I'll last but I'll stick it out for the next week. Then I'm off to france for a week so I'll get a break!

Kando - I have the same feeling going on around my pubic bone. It feels like there's a ton of pressure on it. Going to speak to midwife tomorrow. It hurts when I walk or stand for too long. I'm hoping it's not SPD too, not so bad that I can't walk at all so hoping it's just a normal pegnancy thing.

Bewitched - I'd love to meet up when we're all free on Mat leave. I don't really know any other pregnant people except the girls I work with and can't really talk to them about my pregnancy other than my due date etc as they're the clients and I'm the professional so to speak!!

TicTac - Wow! I'm surprised you didn't rip her in half! You could blame pregnancy hormones and get away with it!! At the moment as soon as anyone does anything that irks me I tell them excalty what I think and it usually isn't really that bad so I think you were very restrained!

Flamebat - PMSL at all you ate! I can't say that I am eating that much but then I feel sick the majority of the time and I don't enjoy food like I used to so that's probably why. I wish I could eat all that, sounds good!!

Thanks all for the tips about ante-natal classes. I think I'll speak to my midwife tomorrow and see what she says as the woman I spoke to was rubbish!! I'll make a decision after that, I didn't realise that some places did weekend classes so I'll see if they do them in my area so Dh can come along.

ixel · 10/10/2005 19:42

Hi TicTac. I went to the Babyshow last yr because I got a free ticket. It was def worth it, if only for the two full binbags of freebies I carted home on the bus! I wished i'd taken ds with me as I felt very odd to be without him (I think it was the first time since he was born), and people on stands kept asking my due date, which was demoralising! But on the other had, the buses were so packed I'd never have got home with the buggy. There were loads of things to browse round etc, but I didn't really buy much as we had everything we needed already. Ecxept a thing to hang evian bottles off the stroller, which snapped a couple of weeks later, and my emails were returned as unknown!
I wish I could go this time, but a)no free ticket and b)mother in law coming for for 1st ever visit to London since dh has been here, which is 18yrs!

TicTac · 10/10/2005 20:07

Oh Ixel thanks for the reply....sounds really cheap but I was wondering if we would get any freebies!!! So it sounds like there is plenty on offer! My mum, 2 sister, DH & I are all going so we should have PLENTY of freebies to take home

Tabs - sounds like we will be glad we are parking at Olympia now!!!

Oh crikey Amanda, just you make sure you take it easy as you can, at least your sitting down for most the day right?

Ixel sounds like your honoured to be getting a visit Hope you get on with your MIL.

TicTac sounds like a good plan, take no rubbish off them!

Flame, how much good going girl I think you do have growth spurt days like that, so don't worry too much.

Popa, let us know what the midwife says then.

My office job sounds about as enthralling as yours Amanda - I'm actually half looking forward to going back to work after maternity to go back to vet nursing! Try not to let colleagues get you down though, they probably have no idea what you are going through and you can moan as much as you like on here!

I might be going to buy the cot tonight as will be decorationg the nursery with friends this weekend whilst DH is jetting off abroad on a stag do for 4 nights - jammy sod! So much for saving every penny! Guess I can't complain as it was booked before I fell pregnant.

Chloe55 · 11/10/2005 09:17

And forgot to add Flame, I ate lasagne, chips, garlic bread and hot bakewell tart with icecream for my tea last night, then came home and ate 2 crumpets with lashings of butter hmmmmmmmm.

Frizbe · 11/10/2005 09:26

Amanda its work, you don't have to be inspired!
I for instance have accounts to do now...booo.....
Mmmm Crumpets Chloe!

Bewitched · 11/10/2005 09:29

Flame - I could eat that much every day !

Frizbe - glad you had a lovely weekend. Love your idea for laptops on mat wards! I don't know how she did it, but someone on another forum I use recently did post her birth story 6 hours after the event from a hospital bed!

TicTac - sorry to hear that your appointment was pants! Sure the midwife will be more use on Monday - I mean she can't really be any worse can she?!! I'm def glad about the parking. I figured that even for stuff we buy it would be a nightmare getting it home on public transport. Maybe I'll find a great deal on the pushchair I want and can buy it and wheel everything else around in it all day!

Pops - how lovely to have a holiday to look forward to .

Now Amanda - it sounds like you're really down in the dumps at the moment. I'm sure that deep down you still know that you've made the right decision, but sometimes it's hard to see through all the crap around it. Sounds to me like you definitely need to take some sick leave and have some 'me' time to get yourself back on your feet. Is there somewhere that you could get away to for a few days?
