Well Bournemouth are just plain rude!!!!

We got there and they announced that they had changed the policy, and I had to decide if I wanted to know the sex or not!!!! When you haven't given it any thought, it is a big thing to suddenly throw at you to decide in 5 minutes. We went with not still - didn't want to say yes as a rushed decision and then regret it.

All is fine - Spark has stumpy legs (about 19 w 3d size), and a fat tummy (20 w 3d). B had stumpy legs too, so still sticking with the original dates.

At times it looked like there were little boy bits there, and other times like it was all clear. My gut is saying boy, and it scares me lots. I feel like I know what I'm doing with little girls, and the more I think about having a boy, the more I worry Its not that I don't want a boy as such, more just fear of the unknown. Worried if I carry on like this then I'll end up resenting the baby.

Will post pictures when I get to my friend's to scan it in.

Oh, and I'm also at Woooah stage! Suddenly realised that I'm halfway through, rapidly growing, my house needs sooo much sorting (especially the diningroom as we might end up with a birth pool in there!!!). Attacking DH with a big broom tomorrow to get him to help!

JuA · 07/10/2005 18:13

I am so glad it is Friday!! Need lots of rest this weekend! but we have no plans. Just have to hope that dd sleeps all night.

I am itching to get stuff organised - we can just about get into the spare room at the moment - there is loads to clear out! but I have to persuade dh to help me with lifting stuff.

I have done nothing about classes this time - I think the NHS run some twin classes but I think I am probably too late to book them.

TicTac · 07/10/2005 18:37

Frizbe - my NCT classes start on the 17th!!

popadopalis · 07/10/2005 20:36

Hey girls! I feel really sick again tonight. Probably cos I travelled a lot today and spent a good few hours standing in the cold watching Dh drive a ferrari and other cars doing stunts and stuff. He was so happy bless him but now I feel sick.

Anyway, enough of my tale of woe. I rang someone today about ante-natal classes and I have no more clue now than I did before I spoke to her. Can anyone tell me what one I should go to and how many I can go to and whether it's important that Dh attends them. He wants to but he works shifts right now so would only be able to come every second week. It's so confusing. The woman was talking about ante-natal classes which were different from parentcraft which was different from the next one and I had to contact different people for this one and that one and aaaaaaarrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! Me confused!!

It's nice to catch up with you all again. Thanks for the welcome back.

Tictac - Yes, had my 22week scan on Monday and everything is fine. She looks like her daddy but that's probably just because he's bald/shaved head and so the head looks the same!!

Flamebat - Thank you for worrying about me but sorry I left you worrying for so long. HG is HORRIBLE. I thought I was going to die at one point. A bit overdramatic I know but I seriously did. I couldn't walk even and then when I went to hospital they left me all day without a drip so the could re-check my sodium and potassium levels again which I had already had checked. They must have been really low cos the nurse then put the drip on really fast which casued me to have chest pains and I couldn't breathe. To make matters worse my bedside buzzer didn't work and so I had to walk to the nurses station to tell them when 1) I couldn't walk anyway, 2) I had to lug my drip with me and 3) I couldn't breathe. Not very pleasant!! Anyway, I'm better now and Baby G is fine.

Bewitched - Do you live near Luton? I'm in Bedford so it's not far from Luton.

Sorry girls. another essay!

ixel · 08/10/2005 10:28

Our ante natal classes last time consisted of one 4 hr session, which was pretty useless. There's more on offer this time (different hospital), but everything is during the day with no creche facilities, even the refresher course. So that pretty much rules out me going because I have ds, and dh as he's at work! I'm not bothered though, as I didn't really feel that I learnt anything last time that I hadn't already read in a book or seen on Discovery health!

Had my consultant appointment on Thursday.... 2 hrs in the hospital for a 10 min appointment and a prescription collection... not impressed!! All seems ok, except that I still cant avoid post natal injections. Had them for 6 wks last time, done by dh (!) as I couldn't do it to myself. Its all based on speculation too, not real evidence, because thay cant test properly once you're already pregnant, but have to make sure, as I had a suspected clot a few yrs ago, that was also never confirmed and I had 3 months of anticoagulants speculatively!

The better news is that he is quite happy to leave me till 42 wks before doing a section this time.So at least I've got a couple of weeks to try and get my body into labour of its own accord. He said if I dont go into labour, there's no point in inducing this time, so at least I know I wont have all that pain for nothing!

Other than that, not much happening here, except I'm really trying to give up napping when ds does at lunchtime, as thre'll be no chance of that when baby2 comes!!!

flamebat · 09/10/2005 09:16

Where's everyone been?

No idea what my antenatal classes will be like this time. I'm quite looking forward to them as I'm living in a much nicer area now (amazing the difference a 5 min move can make!!!) - before if you went to my doctor's surgery, the majority of people there were there for their methadone prescriptions, or stinking of alcohol etc. My antenatal classes consisted of 2 teenage mums who desperately needed a bath (nothing against teenage mums, it was the bath that concerned me ), 2 very christian women... I'm pagan so we weren't a great mix, one severely mentally handicapped lady who I think wasn't being allowed to keep her baby , and one who just scowled at me when I tried to talk to her (I probably fell into a category that she didn'tl ike ). I'm hoping I might find someone I get on with this time!!! The new area surgery has recent magazines, people you can sit next to and not cover your nose, you can let your child wander the room without worrying what might happen to her

Do I sound really bitchy now? Believe me, you only have to meet me to know I'm not a snob... it takes a lot for me to be that anti-people!!!

ANYWAY - where's everyone been, whatya been up to? I bought a 3 pack of maternity tops from Next yesterday, so hopefully I have enough to pretty much last me through now. Its just the trousers that are the issue!!!!

Bewitched · 09/10/2005 10:12

Morning everyone

Pops - I'm about 15 mins south of Luton in North Herts, so not far away (I was Tabs before in case you realised that I was close then!). Have also discovered that Morgan is Hitchin, so another local (though she moves to Dubai in Jan ). Maybe we should try and do a 3 way meet up when we're all on mat leave? Popmum and Ixel aren't a million miles away either, so we might manage quite a collection of us.

Was the person you were speaking to about antenatal classes advising you just on NHS ones, or on all the options that are available in your area? Here there are NHS classes which are free and available to all, and NCT classes which are very small groups which you have to pay to attend. The NHS ones you can go to on your own, but the NCT ones are designed for you and a partner, so better to take DH if you can, though they are quite happy for you to take another family member or friend if that's easier.

Flame - you don't sound bitchy at all. In fact it sounds a bit like your past experience belongs on a sketch show !

Ixel - boo for injections, but hurrah for being left alone until 42 weeks! You never know about the napping though - no 2 might get used to you napping whilst inside you, and then be happy to carry on once born!

Well, not really done anything baby related this weekend, but hopefully DH will put up the new light fitting in the nursery this afternoon, so that will be something at least.

flamebat · 09/10/2005 10:13

LMAO!!! Suddenly had images of me sat in the middle of a Little Britain sketch!!!

TicTac · 09/10/2005 13:27

Hi Pops, I think all areas seem to be different re the whole ante-natal class. We have 4 weeks of 90 minute NHS classes that run through December. 1 of those 4 is a trip around the maternity ward at the hospital. There are also the private NCT classes (they run weekend classes in some areas so DH might be able to attend those?) The NCT classes run for 8 weeks for 2 hours a night. The full course in our area is £80 but they have a policy of "include all" so if for whatever reason you can not afford to pay the full price, you have a half price option. I don't believe you need to prove income or anything...it is a personal choice.

Good luck!!!

Chloe55 · 10/10/2005 09:44

Hi guys,

Back at work but feeling really tired and groggy still, could have donw with the week off but never mind, I'm here now.

I will catch up on this thread when I get chance but just to let you know that Amanda has been quiet due to the fact that she has started bleeding and she got taken into hospital on Friday and had to stay until yesterday. I don't know the ins and outs but I will text her later if she is not on line to see if she is ok. I spoke to my mum and apparantly the same thing happened to her at around 20 weeks with me due to the fact that she was doing too much and getting stressed and by the sounds of it Amanda has a lot on her plate at the mo so I am keeping my fingers crossed that maybe she is going through similar.

Anyway, will catch up later x

Bewitched · 10/10/2005 10:42

Oh dear - let's hope that it is just her low lying placenta causing the bleed, and isn't any cause for real concern.

Sorry to hear that you're still groggy too Chloe. We're still all second trimester so are supposed to be blooming!!

TicTac · 10/10/2005 10:43

Hi Chloe and nice to see you back. Hope you are feeling beter now! Send our regards to Amanda when you text her. She has a low lying placenta doesn't she so that could still be the cause of the bleed. Fingers crossed that she and her beanie are ok!!

TicTac · 10/10/2005 10:46

Tabs - do you know what week the 3rd trimester begins? I saw my mum over the weekend and she just kept telling me how good I looked...I think she was telling lies though! I think she just thought I would look tired and haggared but actually am still very animated and fresh...

Very very excited about the prospect of having a baby, can't knock the smile off my face. I am starting to really enjoy pregnancy now.

I even ordered all the nursery stuff, booked tickets, hotel and a parking space for the baby show!!

Chloe55 · 10/10/2005 10:51

Just had a text from Amanda, she is still in hospital and bleeding but she has had a scan and her and baby are ok so that's good news at least. I will let her know you are thinking of her.

Glad all the scans have gone well so far. 4 boys Mimi! That's scary, just think how protective they'll all be of mum when they grow up though .

TicTac · 10/10/2005 10:59

Thanks for letting us know about Amanda Chloe! Oh, I am sure you will have lots of work stuff to catch up on but I am out of the ofice today but back in our London office for the remainder of the week so can catch up on email. Wont be so easy to be on here though and I am not lugging my laptop with me this time so wont have access in the evenings. So kind of going to be most of the week without me bothering you all

Bewitched · 10/10/2005 11:00

Wish I did TicTac - most places seem to say about week 28, but sure I saw one the other day that said 24 weeks! Think I'm taking it to be 28 weeks.

So where have you booked a parking place for babyshow - at your hotel or at Olympia? We still haven't decided quite how to travel down - I'd prefer to drive but DH isn't great driving round London, and parking is a nightmare, so prefers train. I might agree to that as long as we get cab from whichever station we first arrive at!

Chloe - great news about Amanda - thanks for keeping us updated.

Bewitched · 10/10/2005 11:03

TicTac - at thought of you not being on here all week! Are you staying in central London for the whole week? You could have come and stayed with me you know - it's only half an hour from Kings X.

Chloe55 · 10/10/2005 11:11

I want to go! I want to go! Huuummpphh!!!

TicTac · 10/10/2005 11:16

Aww Tabs that is lovely, thanks. Fortunatly the business settles all my bills so not too bad!

Last time we went to Olympia we parked at Hillingdon (only abdou £4) and then got the train to Olympia but since there is no congestion charge on Sundays and there would be 3 of us on the train (and of course the fact I might do some buying while we are there) we are parking at Olympia! it is £18.50 if you book in advance and the carpark is right next to Olympia so is all very easy. We have sat nav in the car so makes the journey less stressful in terms of finding the place.

DH wasn't happy with the train shuffling if we do buy stuff and as he put it...I am too busy growing a baby to deal with being shunted around a train...bless him!!

Chloe - COME DOWN THEN!!! You know you want to and with the money you have saved on the fags since you gave them up I am sure you can justify the cost some how...

TicTac · 10/10/2005 11:18

Oh Tabs - the office is on the outskirts so I stay by Heathrow...makes everything so much easier for me!! I am usually at the Holiday Inn M4 J4 but am at the Sheraton on Bath road this time.

Bewitched · 10/10/2005 11:24

Fab - DH has just agreed to park at Olympia! Do you have details/phone no handy to book it? We have sat nav too, and in fact got him a new fancy one for his b'day, so he can have a real reason to use it!

Chloe - you know it makes sense!

TicTac · 10/10/2005 11:31

Tabs - YAY!!! 0871 871 9809 (open between 0900-1700 Monday to Friday)

Details here

Chloe55 · 10/10/2005 11:39

I wish I could but the money I have saved on fags has just gone on bedroom furniture. Nevermind I am a spendaholic so prob best I don't go

Chloe55 · 10/10/2005 11:45

Just realised that makes it sound like I was on 50 a day! (I wasn't by the way!)

Bewitched · 10/10/2005 11:57

Thanks TicTac - my parking is now booked too.
