Ixel, that's great news for your friend
Bummer about your low lying placenta, so that's 3 on the thread, lets hope they all move up out of the way.
Your poor dh, horrible things shingles, my flatmate once had them, yuk....here's a big virtual {{{{{Hug}}}}} for you to help you feel better, you have a lot on your plate.

3k, tell them your going back, even if you don't, you only have to give your normal notice, even when on maternity. Its a pity about there not being any good grants available for midwifery training, have you looked into it? seems such a shame, with there being shortages, that there is nothing to encourage people to take up the positions......

JuA that'd be good thanks!

Chloe, don't even mention the nursery word, arrrggghhhh, I have no idea where we are going to put the stuff currently in dd's new room, baby is ok, its having dd's current room, its where dd goes next that's the problem....its currently our office and we both work from home.....arghhhhhhh.......and the loft isn't convertable.......time for a windfall...

Ixel sorry to hear about your low lying placenta, my sonographer said I had a good chance of it moving by 32 weeks so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Are they going to rescan you to see if it has moved or just going ahead with C-section?

Tic-Tac - I will get SMP but only £90 per week from day one as I'm self employed. Even though my boss is my boss he thought it was better for me to be self employed as he wouldnt have to pay as much tax and neither would I. I was happy with the situation last year but he knew we wanted a baby and I feel a bit stitched up about that. I've worked for him for about 7 years in total and I will get zilch when I leave which gets my back up. By the time you pay things like council tax, house, car insurance there is hardly anything left. It would be great if when on maternity leave we got some money off council tax wouldnt it!! That would save me over £100 a month.

Frizbe, I have had a small look into midwifery training but cant see anything about grants etc. Not sure where to look to be honest. I did mention to my midwife I would like to do it as I have thought about it for a few years now but I really dont think I could afford it. Perhaps when baby grows up a little our situation may change.

TicTac · 03/10/2005 13:48

3K - that is a fabulous idea re: the council tax! Would save us £153 a month!!!! We live in a "private" council area which just means they control their full budget but I have yet to see what we get for our money. Even our bins are only collected once a fortnight....

Amanda - when you think your ex DP can't top his last comments...he comes up trumps with something equally ridiculous!! And what sort o a woman asks to be put ahead of an unborn baby for the sake of a cheap lover....madness!!

chloe - are you shopping online today or just not at work??

Chloe55 · 03/10/2005 14:06

I'm at work TicTac - I did my shopping at the weekend. I am just having a bit of a rough day of it really. Got a banging headache which doesn't seem to have shifted for about 2 weeks now and this place is just so depressing so doesn't help much.

Us guys makes me laugh, we either are all in a good mood or all feeling like shit!!

hullo all...can I join the grumblers?

I have morphed into a grumpy, constipated insomniac and had almost no sleep last night so all shaky and sicky today ...spent most of the night trying to remember where I has seen white cot blankets with multicoloured polka-dots which would go with the red pram I like...IT IS NOT RIGHT!!!

Pregnancy truly removes all rationality and perspective methinks

hugs to those who have real probs and issues.

Ok - my feeble attempt to spread some sunshine (if I can do the link!)...some people may have seen this before but I like it!

TicTac · 03/10/2005 14:25

Aww Chloe big hugs hun!!

Amanda - Tell me about so expensive where we live but like I say...nothing to show for it. Plus we have loads of trouble with them. They niver billed us for a year '04 (despite 14 emails asking them to!!) then the 1st we heard was when we got a letter telling us we where in court for non-payment....that was despite the fact we had actually paid for '05 sending a letter asking them yet again for the '04 bill!!! Anyway, they admitted last week they keep loosing payments!
AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH

Chloe55 · 03/10/2005 14:36

It's bad news when you have to chase MAKING payments - I think they should let you off when that happens - their mistake at the end of the day.

Tabs · 03/10/2005 14:39

at council tax being as LOW as that! Ours cost us £210 per month (for 10 months). It's gone up massively over the last couple of years.

OP posts:
3k · 03/10/2005 14:42

Cor blimey I thought mine was bad at £105 per month!!!! Wouldnt it be great if we all got HUGE discounts for having babies!!!!!

Chloe55 · 03/10/2005 14:45

Well, if we all decided to not work and have 10 babies then we would get some hefty benefits - we have just got it wrong!

TicTac · 03/10/2005 14:49

Tell me about it!! Muppets!!!

Amanda we are in the 250k bracket and boy do we pay through the nose in the area we are in...nothing special just flippin' expensive!!!

As for benefits I think you have to earn less then 50p a month in order to get any help at all!!!

Amanda - I think that's very exciting! You go girl!!

There are a few organisations that might give you a grant or funding depending on your circumstances and what you are going to study - CAT me if you want me to have a look for you (I'm a fundraiser!)

Frizbe · 03/10/2005 16:47

Cool Amanda1 go for it!!
I too have a banging headache Chloe, had one last week as well, would love to know whats causing it, must be baby/I'm on the tail end of a cold related as don't usually get them.....
Well have been out and brought a skirt and a cardi for a wedding this weekend, boy do I look pregnant in it! alas no tops in any of the shops I've been in so far to match tho......am praying don't get bigger boobs before the weekend, as I can just squeeze into a basquey type thing I've just routed out of the wardrobe which will do, please boobs, don't grow!

TicTac · 03/10/2005 17:22

Amanda - I dont think your mad I think it is a great idea. Depends what you fancy doing but teaching & midwifery both have a grant for all attendees! Not that it amounts to much but every little helps! plus I am sure you will get in...there is a quota for mature entry candidates and mature is defined by over 25 with work experience and/ or previous qualifications.
Good luck!!!

YeahBut · 03/10/2005 17:29

Hi everyone,
Had my scan on Friday which went really well. Baby is on the small side so IUGR on the cards again but everything else is as it should be! We also found out the "flavour" and it's a...........GIRL!!! So a very female house for us. Poor dh will be overwhelmed by oestrogen in a few years!
