I was offered (and had) the flu jab which includes swine flu. I'd heard it could have side effects but all's been fine here.

I'm so looking forward to going home tonight, I'm absolutely shattered, DP is out so I'm going to put my feet up and watch the Apprentice. I might even watch it in bed! And then I've got 5 days off work, plus I come back to the long-awaited baby shower!

MW measured me this morning and I'm 32cms as well, baby is on the 50th percentile whereas they were up in the 60th.

She also said the head was nicely in my pelvis, if you call walking with your legs akimbo because your lady bits hurt nicely then I'd agree. Blush

BubbaAndBump · 08/12/2010 19:18

lol @ your description of walking Running Xmas Grin - it's yet another delightful side effect of pregnancy!

Had the day off today with a tummy bug - have to say I enjoyed not waddling round school picking up on the crappy kids doing crappy things. Back to the real world again tomorrow Xmas Sad - now cannot wait until maternity leave starts!

CupcakesHay · 08/12/2010 19:18

running love your description - that makes me feel better about a moving all the time baby. And somethign else to look forward to! Hope you DO go to bed and watch TV - def a good time to put your feet up.

I think I've got a bit of a cold - I might go and ask the doctor's tomorrow about the flu jab.

jjkm I was thinking early - the twins must be about 2 months old now. Any idea when they'll be able to come home? how often do you go and see them? And is the hospital far away?

As for Dh - no sisters - just a "perfect" mum. Oh well - i'm back on trying to grin and bear it and just relax. Xmas Grin

And it's christmas soon! YAY!

saltnvinigarcrips · 08/12/2010 19:25

Feels like we're leading parallel lives Bubba. I had the day off work today too on account of the fact I had virtually no sleep last night and my DH misheard me when I asked "can you book me that massage". He heard "can you give me a massage" which he then proceeded to do but as usual ended up feeling worse than before so could barely walk when I got up this morning. I also am SW London in Ealing. Where abouts are you? Still, only 6 1/2 more days to go of school and I always consider the last week a doss (wrongly or rightly).

Ryuk · 08/12/2010 19:37

saltnvinigarcrips, at least he's trying I guess... get him a massage book for christmas?

BubbaAndBump · 08/12/2010 19:46

Aww, bless him for trying salt, I've tried to convince my DH to give me massages but - love 'im - but blimey he's useless at them and gives up after about 10 mins!! Xmas Grin
Just round the corner from you sort of - I'm in Hampton Hill but I teach in Shene. I'm getting very little sleep too with this naughty little bugger baby...

YAY to the last week of term coming up. Got to teach a crappy Yr 7 class tomorrow and we've already done our end of term assessment, but still got three lessons with them, so can't start on the Christmassy stuff yet (I'm an MFL teacher)

Hey RYuk how you getting on?

OP posts:
CupcakesHay · 08/12/2010 20:50

I agree - love your DH for trying salt - can you send him to Devon please??? Xmas Grin

MFL? Are you mad bubba - that's my most dreaded bit of the primary teaching course. Well... that and actually going into the schools!

And no agree - last week of term surely is a doss for everyone involved. God you work so hard rest of time! Do you have school plays coming up?

jjkm I hope January comes around quickly for you - it sounds like it might be quite hard for you. When are we going to get to hear their names? I'm too curious!!!! Will you tell us when they come home? Grin

CupcakesHay · 09/12/2010 19:47

What happened to me hibernating? I'm booked in for blood test (for iron) and flu jab.... and then anaestehesologist, and growth scan, and then swab for strep B and then another midwife.... when am I meant to finish my patchwork quilt and do my christmas wrapping??? Xmas Grin

BubbaAndBump · 09/12/2010 21:44

lol cupcakes - sounds a bit hectic even if the patchwork quilt doesn't make it past four squares...

salt - my DH thinks he knows you in RL?! :o Small world!

Crystylline · 09/12/2010 22:26

hi all,

I've been committing the tarrible act of lurking again! must remember to post as well as read.

scary last week, with four days in hospital. Fell over, bled, bled some more and ended up sitting in a hospital bed for four days whilst the care team tried to work out if baby was going to put in an early appearance.

he's ok though, despite being underweight. 4lbs at 32 weeks, so have a growth scan booked in for early january.

fortunately devon's icy/snowyness isn't too bad, or i'd be worse, given it's an hour to hospital. mind you... i might get a ride in a helicopter! Grin

CupcakesHay · 10/12/2010 11:28

Hi crystal poor you - are you feeling OK now???

And don't worry - we don't mind lurkers!

I'm in Devon too!!! I'm in Kinsgbridge - but having baby (hopefully!!!) in Derriford - where are you? And what's your due date?

I've got a cough and a cold. my poor dad keeps telling me to take something for it - cos I do have a loud annoying cough - but no matter how many times i explain that i can't take any bloody medicine cos of baby, he just looks puzzled! Xmas Grin

CupcakesHay · 10/12/2010 11:33

sorry.... not crystal but Crystylline Blush

BubbaAndBump · 10/12/2010 19:05

Poor you crysty that must have been scary for you all. Glad all's okay though. When's the growth scan scheduled for?

OP posts:
Ryuk · 10/12/2010 20:43

I'm ok thanks Bubba! Considering whether to do a fairly long train journey for an important-but-technically-voluntary thing on the 15th of january. I was on a train a couple of weeks ago and ended up a bit scared because of abdominal pains, started worrying about something Going Wrong between stations, so I'm thinking a similar situation with only a week and a half until due date could be a really bad idea. Might get DP to accompany me up just in case.

No news from my mum about alternate visiting arragements, I think she might be sulking or hoping I change my mind.

Crystylline, sounds scary! Glad your LO is ok.

Cupcakes that's quite a ream of appointments. Confused I'm sure the quilt will be lovely in the end though.

jjkm, sorry to hear you're having trouble seeing the twins as much as you want to. Hopefully the time until january will fly by though.

Ryuk · 10/12/2010 20:44

Oh also, Bubba, year 7? Blimey you're brave.

CupcakesHay · 10/12/2010 21:20

I second ryuk on that - very brave bubba!

How long's the journey? I'd say over 5 hours - then no way! Will you def have a seat? And do you want to go - cos I think if you do, you might be alright - but maybe your baby will have different ideas!!! but def get DH to go with you - your feel better I think.

BubbaAndBump · 11/12/2010 07:21

Year 7 are easy! I couldn't do primary teaching - it would drive me round the bend!!

I'm refusing to travel even to my sister's on New Year's Eve as I don't want to go into labour away from my home hospital. Bit pathetic but what with my slightly complicated history, and the hassle of husband with children and visiting etc etc, I'm staying put.

FloraPost · 11/12/2010 07:55

I have felt a bit mopey recently, hence not posting, but decided now time to snap out of it. We saw the consultant this week about Tiny Flora's legs and although it isn't definite that there is a problem, she couldn't be as positive as the GP. We have decided against further tests for now and he will see a paediatrician when he is born.

My NCT class has decided to have weekly meets after the course finishes Xmas Smile which will be great. I was starting to worry that my conversational abilities during mat leave would deteriorate severely if I only had the cat to talk to during the day (Do you want noms? Nice cats don't chew the router, etc).

My John Lewis list is being delivered today!! So excited I might just burst! Better than Christmas Xmas GrinXmas Grin.

CupcakesHay · 11/12/2010 11:05

Hi flora - pleased to see you're less mopey - and I think it's a great decision to just wait and see with little flora. There's no real science to half of this baby malarky and I think waiting to see is the best bet. He might come out and just have teeny legs, but be fine.

And how exciting about your John Lewis order - it'll be like an early christmas - well - without the talc and those presents you kind of grin and grimace over!

bubba - i'm with you - i'm not leaving Devon - furthest I'm going is Exeter to on Xmas Eve to pick up MIL - but dad's driving - so if we have to swerve to my hospital in plymouth - so be it Xmas Grin

On the downside for me - I have a really horrid stinker of a cold and a cough that sounds like i'm barking. I know it's driving my parents mad, but can't do anything about it.

Oh and flora - talking to the cats will be me when I get back to syria - and pretty much same conversation about not chewing wires - and if the baby has hair, my cat called Oscar is a hair-licker, so i'll spend half the day telling him off for licking baby's hair!

saltnvinigarcrips · 11/12/2010 22:24

Ha Bubba I think it must be so, definitely small world. Only 4 more days to go of school and can't wait.

Year 7 are easy it's the sixth form I can't stand in general. I got so angry with my Year 13s on Friday I actually thought I was going to cry. Honastly felt like telling them what selfish bastards they were for deliberately stressing me out. Friday was a bad day as had what I describe as 'shooting pains' up my fanjo. Called my doc and he said my urine sample had come back negative for an infection and to call the hospital. Called the hospital and the first woman said 'yes it sounds like an infection, let me transfer you to the delivery suite' and then the midwife there said 'well there's not a lot we can do for "shooting pains" you should call your doctor or ring the assessment unit tomorrow'. At no point did anyone even ask for my details Shock. By the time I got home on Friday I was so upset i just cried and then fell asleep and vomited in my own mouth which I think started to choke on. Anyway, it was all a bit too dramatic for my liking so not sure how i'm going to handle actual labour. Anyway baby is moving around and i've felt fine today.

crystalline how did you fall over? Was it on ice? Glad you and lo are okay.
absolutely knackered but not long to go now.

Pootle78 · 12/12/2010 16:19

Help!!!!!!!!

Mu husband is trying to force me into nesting and I'm not ready for it!!!!

It's suddenly clicked to him that this baby could turn up at any time in the next 6 weeks and suddenly he had turned to nesting and is trying to drag me along kicking and screaming! I've had a word with wiggle and told them they can't come until our insurance claim for leaking pipes is fixed and at this rate, it won't be until after Christmas, so think we have an understanding!!!

Bless ya Salt hope you're feeling better now, I have the odd night where I throw everything up and it ain't pleasant, but as you say not long now - thank god!!!

Cupcakes hope you are feeling better too!

Flora glad you are feeling happier about little Flora, what was in your John Lewis delvery? We don't seem to have much but think we have everything (if that makes sense?!) just seeing if there is anything really obvious we are missing!

CupcakesHay · 12/12/2010 16:32

don't do it pootle Xmas Grin at least until you're ready to do nesting. I think nesting is very much an individual thing - if your DDh wants to sort stuff out, he should do it without you! i had a bit of nesting in Syria, and my DH just let me get on with it. Failing that - lie and say you are feeling "tired" and can you rest a bit Xmas Wink

By the way - does anyone know what the bear Bear symbol is all about???

Poor poor you salt - crap service - let's hope the pain doesn't come back. And remember what everyone always says (usually in partonising tone) - "The labour pain is all worth it when you're holding your baby" - mainly i just think - in 3 months time i can turn round all smug to my friend and say same to her!!!!

And salt those evil sixth formers - have they no compassion for a pregnant teacher. you should give them all Ds on their next assignments!

Off to docs tomorrow for a blood test for iron - was meant ot be having flu jab, but don't think they'll give it to me when I'm so ill!

PS. they have 6 inches of snow in Syria - my husband got sent home from work early cos the roads were getting impossible! MAD!

BubbaAndBump · 12/12/2010 16:50

Poor you salt that sounds miserable and doesn't fill you with much confidence in the NHS. Which hospital are you going to for labour then? I'll be at West Mid...

Pootle, don't let him stress you out - my sister's DH and I dragged her round the massive mothercare centre near her with about 6 weeks to go before her first child, and I ran around getting boring stuff like nappies and cotton wool and plain bedding etc, while she and hubby made some of the more interesting choices like cot etc - but she suddenly turned green and said it was all a bit too much for her poor thing! Can you get a friend to go with you to get the basics, set your DH on a task list for nesting (or if he's desperate to 'nest' and you don't have much for him to do - send him my direction and I have a lonnnnnnnnng list of (non-baby-related) things for him to do here! :o)

Escaped to my parents' house this weekend as my DH was at a wedding miles away, so didn't want to run the risk of being stranded in the middle of the night with 2 kids on my tod, so escaped there.

Sorry, big rambling...
