Here we go ladies, a brand new sparkly thread that should see us all into our 2nd trimester Smile

Many thanks for the warm welcomes Smile

I've felt lots of movements this evening, I was sitting in quite a twisted position which is why I think I felt it so much.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Petalouda · 17/11/2010 18:47

ecuse that's exactly what it feels like (heart skipping a beat)!

I've been feeling definite kicks since 18 weeks (around 3 weeks now), and it's gone from quite sweet little flicks and tickles, to proper belting whacks and stopping mid somersault with head/bum poking right out of my belly - which feels really uncomfortable!

It's still quite amusing at the moment, and I'm now even feeling little ones while I'm at work (not helpful when I'm already zoning-out mid sentence!). But I don't think it'll be long till he's keeping me awake at night with his antics!

He's surprisingly quiet this evening, maybe he's waiting for his dad to get home?!

MrsWajs · 18/11/2010 11:46

Petalouda We also want to get the Quinny Buzz but not keen to pay £700 either, I have found package deals on kiddicare & kiddisave websites and also www.pramworld.co.uk so am hoping to get it for around £550 ish.

Cyclebump · 18/11/2010 13:07

What a pallaver!

Turned up bright and early for the scan as the mag I work on goes to press today and I'm the person who sends it all off. DP and I beamed when we were called bang on time. Then our problems began. Baby is 'very unco-operative' and point blank refused to do as it was told. Most things were fine and dandy but it turned it's back whenever she went to check the heart.

Sonographer tried everything to get it to shift. We were sent out and I was told to eat chocolate. I wolfed down a bar and we returned 10 minutes later. Baby still refused to co-operate. I was rolled onto my side and prodded and shaken to no avail.

I was sent out and told to drink ice-cold water. A litre later I was back. Still no joy.

I have to go back in two weeks because we have a very naughty little .... BOY!

We did at least find this out. Mum's in shock and sister now owes me a coffee after abet that it was a girl :)

lucielooo · 18/11/2010 14:09

ooh congratulations on your son! just commented on another thread and was going to ask if you'd found out :)

frakkinup · 18/11/2010 14:13

Congrats Grin

And at least you get to see him again in 2 weeks.

I sympathise as mine is pretty uncooperative too...took 2 tries to get the nuchal fold scan.

Did you get the mag out on time?

kittycatcat · 18/11/2010 14:32

Congrats on your (albeit uncooperative) son Cyclebump

Cyclebump · 18/11/2010 14:44

Mag got out on time but next appointment is also on a press day and work are less than thrilled. Hey ho, baby's health more important.

Hahaha, ooh Frakkinup, you may be in for a tricky 20-week too. My unruly boy was super naughty at the 12-week as well!

frakkinup · 18/11/2010 14:47

Oh well mine's at 23 weeks. Maybe it'll have matured by then?

Maybe being awkward at 12 weeks is a boy thing? Colleague today said I had no pregnancy glow and therefore it's a boy. Mother says I've had no MS and therefore it's a boy. DH says I've been really irritable and therefore it's a boy.....

JoEW · 18/11/2010 14:48

Congrats Cyclebump, I can't wait for my next scan, though I want an excellent performance. For the 12 week scan my little one stayed face down with head in hands, did't move at all. Shy maybe?

Cyclebump · 18/11/2010 14:51

My family all thought it would be a girl but I've always thought I'd have a boy. I had bad MS and my mum (who had three girls) never had MS so things like that made me wonder about why our pregnancies were so different.

I'm glowing, apparently, but who knows. TBH I think it's luck more than anything, although the sonographer reaffirmed my belief that it's the man who determines gender and DP come from a boy-heavy family.

frakkinup · 18/11/2010 15:06

Oh all these predictor things are rubbish IMO. Anyone tried the wedding ring on a thread over the baby yet?

lucielooo · 18/11/2010 15:09

Nope but as I have hairy hobbit feet when not normally hairy, and also very little sickness I should apparently be having a boy.. will let you know!

AprilMeadow · 18/11/2010 15:56

Congratulations Cyclebump on your little boy.

I had my 21 week scan as well this morning and had to wait 40mins before we went in. We also have an un-cooperative baby who was hiding behind hands so the sonographer couldnt see the mouth, kept flipping all over the place and didnt want to be photographed!

We asked the sonographer to let us know the sex as we have a boy and two girls already... well, as soon as she got down that end there was no denying that we are having a BOY! Am so thrilled i cant tell you! Also very lucky to have 2 of each :o

Cyclebump · 18/11/2010 16:12

We had the same thing. He may not have wanted to show his heart or blood flow but my goodness he was enjoying waving his willy at us!

lucielooo · 18/11/2010 16:49

typical boy ;)

Jaylar · 18/11/2010 19:23

Incase anyone is interested there was a full programme dedicated to pregnancy and childbirth on radio 4 Woman's Hour this morning. About to listen again while eating my dinner so hope it's not too grim.

See www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00vy305

Liv77 · 18/11/2010 20:23

Thx Jaylar will try and to listen to Women's Hour but don't know when as not a chance in hell of listening to it as tomorrow morning when I'm off work as DS will constantly pester for the CBeebies website whenever he sees the laptop is on.

Congratulations Cycle on your boy news, I'm going back tomorrow for my follow-up 20 week scan . Let's hope the baby is co-operating. I might have a sneaky caffeinated Shock coffee before I go in the hope it means baby is in an active mood. Grin

MuffinMouse · 18/11/2010 20:30

Yay Boys!! Congrats cyclebump and AprilMeadow. They are soo affectionate and love their mums. A generalisation but everyone I know who has a boy says the same. Big congratulations!

Feeling all emotional now. I am going to hoik up the mean age on the stats as I haven't done it yet.

MuffinMouse · 18/11/2010 20:47

Ugh!! I am now officially the old duffer of the group. Just call me GrannyMouse! Shock

kittycatcat · 18/11/2010 21:28

Congrats aprilmeadow on your baby boy.
My mates did the ring test on me last night. Very odd. Result - girl. Chinese gender test also says girl. Heart rate 160 so people say girl. And no sickness. 3 and a half weeks to find out.... I hope.

Cyclebump · 19/11/2010 09:26

Liv77, by all means try coffee but here's the list of things we tried in the hour and three scans we attempted:

Lifting my arse off the bed and wiggling it.

Eating super sweet mint fondant chocolate bar.

Jumping up and down.

Power walking around the unit.

Drinking ice-cold (and I mean ICE-cold) water.

An expresso.

Rolling me onto my side.

Still he refused to move into the correct position. Charming!

stuffedmk · 19/11/2010 09:38

Had my scan yesterday and luckily baby kind of co-operated lol
They got a look at everything eventually but it took a while due to baby being super wriggly lol.
Everything looks fine, thank god, and we are having......A boy Grin so my gut feeling was completely wrong....not that I care of course, I'm thrilled to be having another beautiful boy!

JoEW · 19/11/2010 09:49

Oh how exciting that everyone is finding out what they're having! I'm sticking to my guns though and am going to wait. I am so curious but we always said that we'd wait till the birth and now I feel as though I am suggesting opening Christmas presented early if I think about finding out at the scan. I did say to DH that maybe we should but he says he doesn't want to know, so I think we stick with plan A. I think I'm having a boy.

Ha MuffinMouse thanks for upping the stats, I was feeling old! It's strange, I don't feel old at all, most of the time I still think I am in my 20s and am mildly surprised to discover this is no longer true. However, being pregnant has made me feel really old because suddenly everyone talks about your age and you hear things like, "of course once you are over 35 your risk of (insert terrible affliction) increases dramatically". It's quite depressing!

Also, where is my 2nd trimester energy boost?! I slept solidly for eight and a half hours last night and I am still at my desk yawning. And I've got three big spots - this is not what I was expecting when I heard I would be glowing!

At least it's Friday! Happy weekend to all. Thanks for flagging up the Woman's Hour programme Jaylar, though I think listening to anything on Woman's Hour officially makes you very old.

kittycatcat · 19/11/2010 10:20

Congrats on your DS Stuffed We're getting alot of boys through so far!

Cyclebump · 19/11/2010 10:44

Stick to your guns JoEW!

I was umming and aahing about find out out sex and I relented because DP really wanted to. I'm glad we did as he displayed his first real dumbstruck, almost in tears, 'OMG we're having a baby' moment because that's what he needed for it to become real but if your DH doesn't want to know keep it a surprise!
