forgot to say, pissovski that I also get very light headed if I stand up too quickly.... lot of holding onto walls and lowering my head to regain myself... oh the joy!

Rollercoasteryears · 05/12/2010 22:05

Hello all, thought I'd better post as the thread has disappeared off my threads list...
Qwerty, the only Xmas shopping I've done is online - DA does not do shopping! But really need to venture into physical shops for inspiration for the remaining presents...
I was also feeling lightheaded, but happily that seems to have passed now. Have spent last two days with painful bump - think it's been stretching some ligaments or something, actually had to take paracetemol, but seems ok today.
Jbells, hope your DD is better and no more sick on carpet incidents.
Cowboy, hard luck about being sick on yourself - how horrid and very unreasonable for the sickness to be going on this long!

19 weeks today, so halfway to being considered full term - hurrah! Scan on 14th, not long to wait. Still hoping to trick sonographer into telling us the sex against hospital policy Wink

Loopy how's your DH doing coming to terms with the 4 dds?

Loopy I know exactly what you mean as how your DH feels is my position in reverse - if this is another boy, I will have no problem having 2 gorgeous DS, but will need to come to terms with never having a DD...

Sesame I second Loopy's advice re pushchairs and spending available cash on car seat. I bought an expensive iCandy travel system but only used the carrycot a couple of times as I mostly used the sling - I could easily have managed without it. Only caveat I would add is that the cheaper lightweight buggies don't have extending handles which is a pain if your friend or her DH is tall. I just about manage with our maclaren techno (am 5'9") and DH (6'4") finds it really annoying so we still tend to use our bulky iCandy pushchair. But if height not an issue, maclaren is otherwise v good!

Hi all,

once again, sorry for not posting. Have been laid up for a week with full on flu and now DD has it to :(

I have a Hauck Infinity travel system and love it. Considering it is less than half the price of a Bugaboo it is pretty good quality. We used the carry cot for DD to sleep in as she cried everytime we went near the moses basket and the pushchair attachment reclines flat too which is still useful now for getting DD to nap. It has adjustable handle height which has been v useful as well as the fact the wheels come off the frame which meant it fitted into the boot of our beetle which is some achievement! My only criticism was that car seat didn't last long with DD but it was v useful to be able to clip it onto the wheels for quick trips to the shops combined with sling (DD liked being held... a lot!). We also have a Silvercross pop which lives in the car which I am also v pleased with - it has a good recline, has dealt with bumpy campsites well despite no suspension. Only prob is that handles are quite high though if you are a shorty.

We're aiming to keep both and sling the new baby then use a buggy board for DD as she is a great walker already so can't see her wanting to sit in a buggy much by the time she is 2!

Sorry went on a bit there didn't I?!

Happy birthday to your DD loopy. Glad your DH is slowly coming to terms with being in charge of a troop of young ladies :)

I am sorry to admit that I have done and wrapped all my Christmas pressies Blush. I wouldn't normally be this organised (usually wait until school breaks up before doing anything) but we're staying at home for the first time ever this year and so are seeing family over the next couple of weekends to hand out pressies. Haven't wrapped DD's pressies yet but we're going to leave that for Christmas eve evening like my parents did when we were young.

Hope everyone suffering from sickness/poorly lo's is doing ok today and everyone is surviving this freezing weather - think we were about one of the only parts of the country to miss out on snow last week - had a dusting but nothing compared to some.

Evening ladies. After a truly horrible day, I've just discovered that DiddyDragon has chicken pox. Thankfully I've had it so it shouldn't cause problems.

Anyone got any tips for getting through the next few weeks? (Although to be honest, if it wasn't for the spots you wouldn't know she was ill!)

jbells · 06/12/2010 18:55

hello all,

hope everyone is ok i had my 16 wk blood tests today, they checked my urine and found blood and protein so its being sent off.

wud just like to say i had my first embarassing toddler tantrum experience today stupidly took DD the doctors with me, whilst waiting to go in she had a tantrum bcos she wanted to go in the room, she knows there is toys in them, so we got called and she ran in...discovered she didnt like the toys so shouted and screamed and was pulling me to the door and trying to open it, in the mean time they were having teouble finding a vein, i was mortified and then to top it off once we were leaving, we walked out and in from of a waiting room full of people she threw herself on the floor and started screaming i didnt know where to look i was not impressed lol ( y am i having another one hehe)

and to top it off never got to here the heartbeat as DD was playing up so much they didnt even offer very sad about this :(

Frankly I'm amazed she's caught it now. My money was on next Spring when I'll be nicely massive & totally unable to cope with it. :)

She's been a right pest this morning. Apparently she was a little angel for DH yesterday. Either he's lying or we have different daughters...

jbells · 07/12/2010 12:36

loopy- i still dont think im feeling any movement sometimes i feel like a tugging motion but not sure whether its movement or not, altho i dont expect to feel anything till around 18 wks asi didnt last time

dmc- when i work on sundays i always come back and DP says oh shes been good as gold weve hada lovely day i always think the same thing either hes lying or she is just beta behaved when i am not around lol

cowboylover · 07/12/2010 17:48

Dammm.. I know maybe in other circumstances I should not moan about this but here goes... I have now lost 3 and a half stone and my party dress for Thursday night is too big and hanging off me!! I feeling rough but trying to make myself feel better by looking forward to it but now I need to try find something to wear but cant be bothered.

Loopy and JBells: I only feel Wigglesworth (what DH has named bump) when I am curled up on thesofa or in bed in a nightie so must like not being restricted!

I am still sick and now not eaten a meal in 10 days still with an upset tummy and bad head cold I am very attractive! DH tried to make me laugh but I ended up in tears instead when he came in from work to find me on all fours with head in the bucket again and said 'I am really getting to see a new you in this pregnancy' Yeh Thanks! Blush

Now watching my Fav Hairy Bikers Cookoff and think I would be able to eat all of that Gateaux

Yorkstar · 07/12/2010 20:13

Hiya ladies :)

Just thought i would let you know that we had our 20 week scan yesterday and all looks well. Was in there ages as had a trainee sonographer who had a go first at taking the measurments and was being talked through everything. Trained sonographer took over to finish off so saw little bubs for ages. He/she was very wriggly and kept moving away and kicking at being probed so much :o

We really wanted to find out the sex but but baby had hands, feet and cord in the way so looks like we will have to wait and see. Am so pleased all looks well though and am not bothered what flavour he/she is :)

cowboylover so sorry to hear you are sick. It's miserable. I had two sickness bugs in 3 weeks and felt so awful for weeks (had only just got over morning sickness). Like you i could not stomach anything. Hope you feel better soon. On positive side, im still a 1lb off pre pregnancy weight at 19 + 6!

Hi to everyone else, sorry not to name check, will catch up later as dh just about to serve tea and im starving :o

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 07/12/2010 20:14

Hi all. Not been on for a while. Been at my parents as my lack of central heating was too much for me. Have now got a lovely new boiler in (that my dad got me, so no cost, yay!) so should be able to go home tomorrow night.

Re Christmas Shopping - I actually had the majority of mine delivered on the Halloween weekend Blush and was thinking I'd be done and sorted early, but with the whole hospital thing for the bleed, it stopped me doing anymore shopping for a bit. I have a few more to wrap and hand out, and need to pick up two more for DD and something for DH, then I am all done. Had a mad push the week before last to get it all sorted. I need to finish off writing my Christmas cards too, as I started them the halloween weekend and haven't felt like doing them since.

Re Prams when I had DD, I got a Mama and Papas Pilko P3 travel system. We very rarely used the car seat attached to the pram, but it was handy the few times we did. The car seat got used a lot, we only replaced it when DD was too big. The pram is still in excellent condition, mostly due to the fact that when she was walking, she hated being in the pram, so we stopped taking it with us unless we were doing lots of shopping etc, as she would get tired. We're just using the same stuff this time around. Need to get a new changing bag though, as I used DD's everyday for the Cm's, even when she was three/four, crammed with toys and spare clothes, so I do have to get another given the zip eventually gave up.

We're being forecast more snow tomorrow, which will be a pain in the ass as there is still huge sheets of ice here. Am hoping its the weather forecast that is wrong, because its DD's Christmas concert tomorrow at the school and I hope it isn't snowed off. After school its dance rehersal as well (she has an exam on the 19th) so could do with the ice melting as I am not too steady on my feet!

Start my new job on the 29th, looking forward to it.

Midwife appointment Thursday. Hopefully get to listen to the heartbeat as another bit of reassurance. Haven't seen her since before I was taken into hospital.

Hope everybody is feeling better who have been ill / in pain etc. I am getting a niggly pain in my left hip which is most annoying.

gingerwench · 07/12/2010 21:08

DMCWelshcakes DS had chickenpox earlier this year and we found something called Virasooth (in Boots) which is like a foam to apply seemed to prevent itching. He was covered in spots head to foot but hardly scratched at all.

prams with DS I bought a Bugaboo Bee (cheaper, smaller, lighter than the Cameleon) and it worked really well for getting in and out of shops, onto buses etc. I also used a Moby wrap stretchy sling. We bought a car seat to suit the car and it was a bonus that it was compatible with the Bugaboo but if I'm honest I hardly ever used it as a carrier since I didn't like DS being in a car seat too long. THis time round I expect to use a sling much earlier and for longer if I invest in another with a bit less fabric. DS refused to go in the pushchair from 19 months and has been walking or in a rucksack-style back carrier (Bushbaby I think is the make) ever since. At 2.5 he's too heavy for me to carry anymore. SOmetimes I envy people who can go round the shops with a child in a pushchair - I'd be able to get so much more done. I just never go round the shops now!

elf good luck on the new job.

My news is that I had a call yesterday to say the immediate amnio results are back- all clear for Downs, Edwards and Patau. Huge relief and I didn't realise how stressed I was about it until I took the call. Combined with being able to eat and hold down an evening meal I feel like a new woman!

DontWorryBaby · 07/12/2010 22:20

Evening all

Ginger that's great news, must be such a relief for you.

I don't post often but try to keep up to date on my phone. MummyW I've been thinking of you this past week. Hope everything is ok.

yorkstar I can't believe we're at 20 wk scans already! Glad it went well for you and you're being very diplomatic about being unable to identify the sex... I don't have a preference at all but will be very disappointed not to find out at the 20 week scan! Which seems such a long way away... 5th jan!

cowboy I've been unwell over the weekend, lost my voice for a few days and the dreaded nausea has returned. I'm hoping when I'm over this cold it will disappear again. Can't help thinking the nausea has lasted much longer than my first pregnancy... Maybe it's a girl this time?! Does anyone think there's merit in pregnancies being different depending on whether you're carrying a boy or a girl?

jbells hope you're test results are ok and DMC hope DD is coping ok with the dreaded pox.

Pramwise I drove a corsa when DS was born so we bought a pram, without the carrycot, which would fit in the boot. It's a bebe confort loona which lay totally flat with a big fleecey sleeping-bag type insert and it also collapsed umbrella-like, similar to light buggies, so fitted into our tiny car quite easily. Sod's law, we had to change the car when DS was about two months old but the pram is still going strong so we've been very happy with it. Still undecided about this time around, I think we'll wait as late as possible and judge how well DS is walking before committing to any major purchases.

Hope everyone else is keeping well. Looking forward to more scan news over the next few weeks. Oh, and baby's heartrate was 144bpm at my last appointment which is on the cusp but just verging on it being a girl I think? Chinese chart also suggests a girl but only just. Estimated conception date of 31st aug, which was a girl m

DontWorryBaby · 07/12/2010 22:21

Oops!

...a girl month but September was a boy month so who knows?! Time will tell!

MummyWilliams · 07/12/2010 22:33

Hi! All

Not been around, as have been busy with school stuff and work stuff (very, very busy at the mo). Extremely tired lately - I think the cold weather makes me more tired.

ginger glad to hear you've received good news - that's brilliant Smile

loopy sorry to make you worry - I'm just about ok. Hope your DD had a lovely day.

We all chose a lovely outfit for expected baby brother. It is a babygrow with aeroplanes on Grin It has a stripey vest with matching hat & scratch mitts. It comes with a bib which has a teddy in an aeroplane on it - aaah! its so cute. But that's it til we get to 24 weeks.

I went to the midwife yesterday had results back for platelet levels and glad to report that they have gone back up to within normal levels - phew!

Had a listen to the heartbeat again which was very reassuring. DD came with me as she was off school again with sick bug. She loved it and agreed that it sounded like a train Grin

Anomaly scan is on 20th Dec. DC's will be able to come along as they will have broken up from school by then Smile I have midwife appointments booked weekly til the new year. Not sure what will happen with the scans after the anomaly scan, think I have to have another at 22/23 weeks because of high blood pressure history - but not sure of date yet.

I too have been struggling to feel baby move, partly due to placenta at the front. But can feel squirming - but I do get in a right panic when I haven't felt it for a couple of hours.

Sorry to not properly name check - but got to get to bed now - na night!!!

18+3 today Smile Smile Smile

xxx

Hi all,
Glad to hear you are ok, Mummywilliams but poor Comboylover - ah you sound like you have been having a rough time, I hope things improve quickly and you can start to enjoy things more...

Things are OK my side... I went to bed last night looking like I had eaten too many pies and I woke up this morning with a proper bump and feeling really nauseous... so odd must have had a major growth spurt!

I am 16 weeks tomorrow and I can feel some slight tugging movements too but it is very much to one side, not in the middle so I am not sure it is the baby - might be ligaments?

Feeling guilty about lack of Christmas Shopping, might go along this afternoon....

Hope you are all coping in the snow? It looks crazy! I won't make you jealous telling you about the gorgeous weather here ;)
But it is starting to get VERY hot, not looking forward to Jan / Feb

hi all,

Hope you're all keeping well. I have got my 20 week scan tomorrow and super excited. We're not going to find out the sex, but I know i'll secretly be looking out for a tell-tale sign! Yorkstar so pleased to hear that yours all went well.

Since last weekend I have started to suffer from what I think is SPD. Unbelievable pain. Thankfully I have a physio appt on Tues booked for the sciatica - sound like a right invalid!? Is anyone suffering? I am already eyeing up pilates classes after i've had the physio next week.

cowboy I am sorry to hear that you're struggling, sounds miserable :(

All the pram chat is helpful. I am going to wait until next year and potentially get a second hand one. My SIL has the Maclaren one every mentions which they love, but sort of feel that I need a proper pram too? Sort of hoping to make do with slings TBH, but will make a decsion a bit further down the line!

xx

sesamesmith · 08/12/2010 19:34

Hi all. Thanks for the replies about pushchairs/travel systems. I have done a bit (understatement) of research, for myself as well as friend, and am now very confused!

Has anyone bought the Britax B Smart? It has a car seat that lets the baby go completely flat & can transfer to the pram frame. Are there any others that do the same? Seems a good idea for keeping baby happy...

Jbells I've been on the receiving end plenty of time of toddlers doing that - really don't worry about it!

Cowboy Monsoon have some lovely dresses that are ok for maternity and afternoons. Good luck keeping the weight on! I had the sick bug at the weekend and managed to get back to normal by nibbling on flakes of cereal. Poor you!

Elf is your kidney infection & bleeding all sorted now? What a lovely dad you have, phew!

Ginger hurray!

Enjoying my Angelsounds heartbeat monitor and can highly recommend it, although it's better in the morning when I'm still full of fluid Xmas Grin
