hello everyone.
Just back from hospital in very good mood.
All bloods fine; Downs risk 1 in 1300.
Not bad for an old bird of 40.
Felt a bit weird in the waiting room as everyone else there was a first timer!
DS2 was being obligingly cute and chatty - glad he didn't have one of his spectacular meltdowns and frighten the first time mums Wink

mslucy · 26/11/2010 12:01

heartbeat strong and very, very fast.
I'll be so surprised (albeit very pleasantly) if there's a girl in there.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 26/11/2010 13:01

I seem to have ages to wait for my next scan, which isnt until 6th January. My next midwife appointment (so the second one) isn't until 8th December. Feels like an age away, I'll be 17 weeks when I see her, which seems to have flown by but also taken forever Grin
Am tried today. One more hour at work and I'm done for today. Out tonight so hopefully going home for a lie down first.

Hope those of you feeling rough feel better soon :)

mslucy · 26/11/2010 13:07

elf has everything settled down with you?

jbells · 26/11/2010 13:21

elfonthetop- my next scan is on the 6th of jan to at 8:40

brillopads · 26/11/2010 13:30

Had my dating scan this morning, and am 15 weeks & 2 days with an Expected due date of 18th May 2011! ~ 3 days after our 3rd wedding anniversary Grin

Slightly shocked as we were given a date of 6th June by the GP, but my dates were a bit vague ... feels like practically a whole month earlier now!

zinnia · 26/11/2010 14:21

cowboy sounds like you're having a rough time - take it easy! Good that your mum's on hand to look after you.

pistachio your MW and her colleague sound top rate, how fantastic to have it all planned out at this early stage.

Loopy hope you, your DDs and your browser are all much better today.

Elf 8th Dec is less than 2 weeks away - will fly by. Good sign that they don't want to see you before that, I take it?

Great news about your DS risk mslucy

I'm just back from hospital myself, been thoroughly checked out and given the all-clear - it was a humdrum UTI after all but the main thing is I'm cured! Grin

Also had scan with same lovely sonographer who sorted out my disappearing baby scare 5 weeks ago (if anyone can remember that far back) so I had a chance to thank her again. She remembered the incident (though not actually me, unsurprisingly) - she couldn't believe that the consultant hadn't been able to see the foetus and had had to tell her colleagues about it! Anyway was lovely to see the old bean and its little heart hammering away. Didn't get much of a look at the nether regions but suspect another girl...

Yorkstar · 26/11/2010 14:25

So glad you found it last night LittleMilla it's one of the best sounds in the world :) It won't be long now before you feel kicks and punches!

Good luck with scan tomorrow Loopy

cowboylover · 26/11/2010 15:38

Thanks all for the thoughts, went to the Doc again this morning and he was a lot happier with me! The electrolight drinks are amazing and I can feel myself getting better so now my lovely DH is off work for 6 days and is spoiling me, he even said we can watch the Wales v NZ game on the TV if im not up for it Grin He is currently running me a bath before taking me out for tea so I am a lucky lady!

Loopy you are correct I stress myself out over lots of things! Having to much time off work, letting my team down at Christmas our buisiest time and the over hanging threat of a hospital stay. I am ok visiting but not overnight. My Dad passed away 2 years ago this Christmas and he was there for 5 months leading up to it so it freaks me out and only a small place so all the nurses still recognise me and say hello.

I am defo feeling like im getting older, I have even started listening to radio 2 in the car and noticing how much my petrol costs! LOL

All the time at homeas given me lots of shopping time online and started mentally planning the nursery so I cant wait to find out if its a blue or pink bump so I can get the sewing maching out and start the cross stitch I have planned! (WOW Now that makes me sound old)

mslucy · 26/11/2010 15:55

cowboy

You are NOT OLD.

You are 25.

I was your age in 1995. Take That hadn't even split up, Britpop was cool and John Major was Prime Minister.

Grin Wink Confused

zinnia · 26/11/2010 16:14

I can remember Jim Callaghan being Prime Minister (just). Now that's old.

jbells · 26/11/2010 16:18

cowboylover- AHH thats lovely of your DP the most i get if i tell dp i fainted is r u ok now to which i say ye fine, thats the last i hear of it, he is not very sympathetic

Loopy! I think you have totally hit the nail there! Grin I am the person who organises and get things done, an only child bought up buy my dad so if I want it I do it and its a massive thing for me to let go sometimes, Mum has been trying to get me to let go of a few little things at a time as she understands!
I am so glad this pregnancy has brought us closer together and given us the chance to bond like me have never done before.

How was the Christmas fair? I love those and think im going to go to the Cardiff bay one next weekend. And dont forget to let us know about your scan tomorrow! I am excited for you.

pistachio I am sorry to hear that and I hope you get the support you need and maybe spotting the signs early can help this time. The MW sounds good. I have got a community one and a hospital clinic one who are both lovely! I was asking about when they do there shifts on the birthing units so if I have the baby on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday I will be fine for a familiar face.

We have been talking nursery decorating and decided that we would like little robots for a blue bump so got my sketch books out which always makes me happy! Smile

Anyone got that famous 2nd trimester glow/energy yet?! Can't say I have - collapsed on the sofa at 9.00 last night...

Rollercoasteryears · 27/11/2010 14:15

loopy hope your scan went well and you got a good clear picture. Looking forward to hearing some news later!

sesame depends what you mean by glow/energy. Compared to what I felt like in the first trimester, I have a lot more energy, but yes I still get very tired at points - but it's a vast improvement on a few weeks ago.

QwertyQueen · 27/11/2010 15:30

Hi guys
I don't have the allusive energy - very tired - but definitely less nauseous so that's a plus.
My sides are starting to hurt and get a bit itchy already....

Good luck Pistachio - at least you are armed with information on how to deal with it best for you?

LittleMilla · 27/11/2010 19:03

seaseme I don't think I am glowing at all. But TBH, from Oct-April I tend to look like dirt due to lack of sunshine/fake tan. So if I can glow through the winter, it'll be a small miracle.

A few people have said that I look really "well". But I think it's more that i'm not hungover and so I don't ever have a sallow look about me! plus it's usually when ppl have had a few glasses of wine Hmm

Qwerty I am itching all over. Think it's eczma(sp) so am slapping on the E45 to see if that helps.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 27/11/2010 19:33

I keep having people say to me "I thought you were looking a bit peaky" when they hear of my pregnancy, so not at the glowing stage Grin

mslucy - still bleeding/spotting. Everytime I think it is dying down, it starts again. V annoying!

jbells - my scan is at 2:30, so will be twitching at work all day Grin

Hi! All

Sorry i've not been around last two days, have been feeling a bit down. Received a letter from the Doctors on Thursday to say I need to have the FBC blood test that I had done on Monday of this week, repeated in a weeks time. I was really worried as to why it need to be repeated so had a chat with the doctor late thursday evening - she said that basically my platelet levels have dropped below average (average is 150-400 million) mine is at 139 million. Also, I now need to take the iron tablets prescribed for my anaemia instead of taking the iron I have been (which agrees with me) as those levels have fallen too! I am worried about the platelet result because this is something to do with the stickiness of the blood and if you don't have much of that you just bleed, as in have a miscarriage - well this is what I have been led to believe. So all in all feeling a little bit panicked, especially as I lost my last little one Jack at 17+4 and I am only 4 days away from that.

loopy any news? I hope you are just very busy and nothing is wrong!

Forgive me for not namechecking.

17 weeks

xxx

Aw, MummyWilliams, understandable you would be concerned :(
Your levels don't sound that much below average so hopefully it is something they can rectify easily..
Have you tried having the odd half a Guinness?
They used to prescribe that for pregnant ladies I believe and when I was pregnant with DS I would have the odd half and my MW was always super impressed with my iron levels ;)
A nice treat too...
