Savoy, can't remember why

Guess what, we're feeding again Hmm

SilverSky · 15/11/2010 13:21

Ps how would I know if it's thrush?

SeaShellsFiringUpTheQuattro · 15/11/2010 13:31

White plaques on baby's tongue and searing pain in boob. Nhs direct got a good description x

Elsa123 · 15/11/2010 13:38

I would go for a smooth leaved cabbage personally like dutch (the smooth densely packed with leaves whitey/green type) or spring greens, but the savoy dimples may be comfortingly insulating Smile!

BionicEar · 15/11/2010 14:12

Hello ladies (said through bleary eyes), sound like we're all totally up to our ears in nappies and sleepness nights!

David started off sleeping pretty well but for last 3-4 days refused to go to sleep without a fight! By golly I thought DD was stubborn, but he's definetely winning on that front! Grin He's like a doll in reverse, he goes to sleep, you put him down in his bed and POP goes the eyes open wide and lots of angry wailing, until you pick him up, feed and soothe, snuggles down goes to sleep, you try to lie down and POP! it all starts over until eventually he caves in... or I do and let him sleep snuggles next to me, but as result I don't sleep properly as worry I'll smoothered him in his sleep etc!

Keep reminding myself it's early days yet and in no time Hmm he should be sleeping through the nights.

MW rang earlier to say they need to redo his heel prick test as the hossy didn't get enough blood when it was done there, so am not looking forward to that as David got really upset last time and screamed his head off. So will have the joys of both the MW and HV visiting tomorrow - lucky me!

Right am off as baby awaking!

nymphadora · 15/11/2010 14:16

Been checked out. All ok but gp was quite happy to check her over. She isn't back to herself but has just chosen dh so not clinging to me now& is much more alert.
He did 6 week check while we were there so that saves a trip next week.
I now have glue ear in both ears though Hmm

SilverSky · 15/11/2010 14:38

Sounds like we are all suffering with screaming tots!!!

DS is now asleep on my lap and has been for a number of minutes. Do I leave him or risk moving him?? What would you do? Any experiences/techniques?

floozietoozie · 15/11/2010 15:08

Silver this is prob too late but if he's asleep on you and you haven't already, get a blanket on him
and let that warm up then try moving him. Won't be such a transition from your warmth (that's the theory anyway... Dd remarkably able to tell the difference most of the time!)

HV arrived Earlier to weigh dd just as I'd got her to sleep after much feeding including one ff. I didn't know for definite she was coming today, thought it was wed so didn't want to wake dd. Fortunately hv was ok about it as I'm getting her weighed at bf group tomorrow.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 15/11/2010 15:11

Hi. Internet been out for a couple of days so just been catching up. DD is feeding about 15 hours a day it feels like. She feeds for hours, regularly falling asleep or comfort sucking. But all this is stimulating milk production and I don't have anything else to do anyway. At least we've moved from the bedroom to the sofa during the day so i can watch tv or dvds.

I wish I'd been this calm with my boys but as she's my last baby, my perspective is very different now.

DS3 has tonsilitis and an ear infection and is being a screamy nightmare. He's on his second lot of antibiotics now. Poor boy.

Hermya321 · 15/11/2010 16:23

DS has been a bit clingy and fussy today as well. I finally gave up trying to put him down and have popped him in the sling. He calmed down almost immediatly and is now snuggled up asleep. Can't be bad can it. Grin

Sophie is also being clingy, she wants to constantly feed and cuddle, lovely but quite hard work as ds is being clingy atm :)

Im so tired atm aswell as the sciatic pain ive got has kept me awake for 2 nights on the trot now, im fed up of being in pain :(

SeaShellsFiringUpTheQuattro · 15/11/2010 17:14

Damn, why can't we all be in the dame cafe gossiping with our limpet babes rather than stuck on our respective sofas.

Guess what, we are feeding, again!!!!

Hermya321 · 15/11/2010 18:32

Ooooo Seashells that would be fabulous, we could have cake. Lots and lots of cake. Grin

Did anyone see Nigella last night, they had this Strawberry and Almond Crumble on there. It looks relatively simple, I think I'll be making it this week.

OP posts:
SilverSky · 15/11/2010 19:22

Count me in for cake!!!!

I have eaten a whole pack of fig rolls. Then it occured to me that DS will pay for it tmw!!

How many dirty nappies a day are normal!? I wonder if he is constipated as only had two dirty nappies the others have all been just wet.

DillyDora · 15/11/2010 19:27

OOoh blimey just looked up thrush and the 'needles in the nipples'/prickling feeling and the itchy wierdy pain could be it, is that right? It was v bad yesterday but better today...Toby has been feeding less though (new regime, trying not to shove the boob in his mouth every time he whimpers...) I will have to look in Tobe's mouth and ask the HV (have you noticed I'm expecting her to fix everything?!)

Loving the in-depth cabbage discussion!!! I have to get one too!

sam12 · 15/11/2010 19:35

Another one to be counted in for cake! Coffee cake is my flavour of this week.

silver when they bf they can go for days without pooing because there is very little waste in it. So less poos means he is using all the goodness in it. Someone needs to tell dd this as she is filling lots of nappies at the mo!
dilly that's what the hv is for isn't it ? Wink I'm storing up all my questions for her visit on wed

DillyDora · 15/11/2010 19:36

Bionic at least you're trying, we can't get DS to go down and stay down, he always wakes ... ah well!

Elsa123 · 15/11/2010 19:51

Oooh! Snap Hermya! I bought the ingredients for the strawberry crumble today too! I will make it tomorrow.

For those getting bored with fig rolls and if its not too base...Lidl do a fantastic ginger cakey biscuit at this time of year thats german and christmassy and totally addictive. Its also sold in Fortnum and Masons of all places.

Dilly I had the itchy pain and cabbages worked for me. No signs of thrush otherwise, so if your DS has no white tongue then it may just be niggles.

I'm counting myself as very lucky. DD does like to fall asleep in my arms and when she's fidgety I lie her across my chest to encourage her to match my breathing which calms her down, along with a soft chant of 'go to sleeeep...'! However she does wake a little when I put her in her cot, but she just lies there and either sleeps straight away or cheeps away to herself until the snoozies catch up with her. I think the Amby Nest helps as her movements make it bounce and sway slightly which calms her too. I recommend it.

Anyway Grin Grin Grin we've just had our first bath together!!!! I'd bathed her in her baby bath and in the sink before which was greeted by screams. Being in the bath with me was great! She calmed instantly and seemed to love it, especially when I held her upright and submerged her up to her neck. I'm on my own tonight so the logistics of getting out of the bath were a bit tricky, but she coped well with the change of temperature.

DillyDora · 15/11/2010 20:02

Tops Elsa I think we'll try that bathing technique...and cabbage (will the HV have that too?!)

Silver DS sometimes does 3 mega poonami nappies in quick succession and then goes 48 hrs without a poo... very prone to the wet fart though...unfortunate...

SilverSky · 15/11/2010 22:40

We also has wet farts!

Tonight he has done three in 90mins. I think it might be a bit mucusy but I am not sure. It's def brown I know that much so we have progressed from neon yellow poos. Should i worry? I could be imagining it. Could it be that due to my self help with the mastitis (suspected) that now my milk is flowing again that his digestive system is having to work overtime!?

He is also sucking his hands/fist/thumbs a lot. This is a comfort thing??

He also slept from 630-900 tonight and I am putting that down to a better feed just beforehand.

Thanks for all the advice!

Gotta run - he is screaming!!

SilverSky · 15/11/2010 22:58

He has stopped screaming and is now on HIs chest and is self soothing by sucking his thumb! MIL will have a fit!!! "You can take a dummy away but not a thumb"

Hermya321 · 16/11/2010 08:09

Silver According to Kellymom if you have mastitus your milk can contain blood, pus or mucus so this could be a cause of the weird nappy.

DS has been really really fussy last night, his nappies have also smelt a bit odd. I think it's something I've eaten as he's not normally like this.

SeaShellsFiringUpTheQuattro · 16/11/2010 08:15

Silver-are you on antibiotics? They can also cause diarrhea etc in LO. Dd has had spectacular lurid green ones with all this feeding-I think too much foremilk?

Better night-8-1-4-7 so I feel fantastic!!

nymphadora · 16/11/2010 08:34

Elsa- we did the bath thing but dd3 saw it as a feeding opportunity!

Silver- dd3 is thumb sucking too. None of mine had a dummy but dd1 is still a thumb sucker at night.

Despitebeing still snotty she went in her cot again last night. Slept 9:30-1:30-6 then another hour dozing til big girls got up

SilverSky · 16/11/2010 09:02

We did 930-11-2-4-830 last night. The feeding is ok it's the putting him in his Moses that is the problem.

The Mw told me to air my cs incision to help it heal. Not that easy cos I can't prance round the house with no kecks on cos I still have lochia. Nice.

HI has gone on an appt all day today so it's me and Ds today. Well til lunchtime when we have a visitor unless they cancel of course. I think we will be mainly watching tv and trying to sleep. Oh and of course put the compulsory nine loads of washing on!!!
