The old thread was getting quite full so I took the liberty of starting a new one, I hope nobody minds! I thought I'd keep in with our glowing and growing theme (I'm not very creative, sorry).

OP posts:

zero what on earth are you doing up at this time?* :o

They will be ok cos dh knows my feelings and it will be one night only and not staying for 12 hr days either side. My ds's will want some visting time too and they work 9-5 mon-fri. I am more worried about leaky sanitary towells and wind with his Dad lurking around but hey maybe that will get rid of them quicker haha.

Re work. Yes i feel like that now too.Been to work when feeling sick, aching belly, spd and only took one day off when bled! Then colleague who is 3 months has been taking the p since she missed a period-whole day off for scan working from home(cant really do that)massive lunch breaks and even swimming for an hour. Made me think what the hell am i doing cos nobody thanks you for it.Tbh tho i have some really needy clients and thats my main reason for going in.
I will just not be afraid to take a bit of time should i need it and am going to have the breakls i am entitled to etc.

Woke up all night with achey hips so had to get up.Dd is still asleep as she watched x factor.

zerominuszero · 10/10/2010 09:00

Dh got up early to go to London for a half marathon leaving me awake in bed with my phone for company and the anticipation of marking later. Hooray!

My phone wont connect to the net since went from sky modem to talk talk. I really miss going to bed early and going on mn.
I got up cos feel sorry for dh as he has to work 2-10 and i wake him up early most mornings with my early waking.

I will be doing the usual sunday things swimming and dinner,we take out pjs to the pool and shamelessly leave in them its great.

Bit of x factor in bed me thinks.

wigglesrock · 10/10/2010 09:43

Morning, was it your birthday Ledkr yesterday, if so hope you had a great day, if not still hope you had a great day Smile

Have worked all weekend and really feeling wrecked this morning. Might throw girls in car and head to park, out for the day, first Sunday in ages Mr Wiggles has been off. Am sending him to Tescos later to pick up some sneaky Santa presents for girls (some of their favourite stuff is half price)

My emotions have completely gone off the scale lately, either spending most of the day obsessing about the Chilean miners being safe or just crying about how funny and sweet my kids are!! Fun times in our house - am going to catch up with the X factor later if my emotional state can handle it!! Wink

knittakid · 10/10/2010 13:07

Was it your birthday ledkr? if so, hope you had a great time, I must confess we went to the pub after scan on Wed. and I had a half a pint of lovely ale... (wild me!)

Yes to earlgreay's request for sharing hb experiences, resources, etc. and welcome to the newbies!
Thanks also for that link to some hb resources, here is another one: www.aims.org.uk
It has some more articles with references (something that might help convince some dh/ps).

Finally shared with a wider circle of friends the news and founf that two of them are also preg.! one of them (well, his wife) is due at the same time as me and they live very close, so that'd be great (are you one of us already?...this is a huge clue)

Well, off to eat luch and then make some profiteroles and then do some more digging at the allotment. A day in the park sounds lovely wiggles! hope your emotions calm down sometime soon, it is exhausting!

ledkr · 10/10/2010 13:44

Oh dear i feel all guilty now for all the b'day wishes. Its next Sat actually so ill save them up till then. Thanks tho.

Wiggles sounds lovely. My dh went back today. Does yours do 6 on and 4 off? I feel a bit lost after having 4 days together but we have made a great start on the room. Its a lovely antique rose colour and i have painted the wardrob a barely there pink.If she ends up being called Ivy i am going to stencil ivy leaves all round the room.Im so excited now and she is moving quite a lot too.

DD is out with her sperm donor father. So i am getting the veg ready cos going to do a roast ready for when we get back from swimming later.Going to make a chocolate fudge cake for pudding, mmmm i love not having to diet.

angels1 · 10/10/2010 14:37

afternoon all,

DH went into the garden to clean some bits 3 hours and haven't seen him since - goodness knows what he's doing - so very bored on my own wasting the good weather inside.

DH and I are thinking about booking a holiday once we have baby but arn't really sure at what point would be a good time to go. It would have to be when baby is less than 9 months as I'm then back at work (and want to take maternity leave to its full advantage by taking an out of school term holiday!), but we have no idea how quickly babies grow/what stage they get to when - any advice as to a good time in the first 9 months? It'll only be a british holiday in the car, but would be nice to have as relaxing a holiday as possible (knowing of course it will be a very different holiday to what we're used to). We like to book our hols very early so we get best choice of all the nice self catering places Grin .

Went out shopping to local food store earlier and had servere pregnant lady rage - everyone was in my way and didn't move to get out of the way!Even had a child nearly bash my bump as it wasn't looking where it was going - I was all ready to lose my temper Blush . Either they are sunday drivers types in shops or you get ignored as a pg person. I remember when I had back prob and was shuffling everywhere slowly I'd get pushed and ignored in the street - I was quite shocked at how I got ignored actually (maybe I'm used to people getting out of my way when I rush around like a lady on a mission Hmm ). Is this something I just have to accept and get used to as I get bigger/have a buggy to cart about?

ledkr · 10/10/2010 14:49

angels the days of people respecting a pg woman are over im afraid. I think its cos of idiots like my colleague who expect everyone to fall apart around them cos pg.The thing about kids annoys me too a kid rushed past me in a shop and would have really hurt my bump had i not swiftly moved to one side and the father was right behind him and said nothing. I think you are extra protective too tho. i dont even like swimming in case i get kicked in the belly and im an awfull passenger too, keep screaming haha

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 10/10/2010 16:42

Kind of depends what you want to do, angels. If you go in May-June when the baby is around 3-4 months you won't have to deal with crawling and hence not with babyproofing everywhere you go, so more relaxing from that point of view (and will still be on milk only, so won't have to faff around with food). But if you go in September or early October when he/she is 7-8 months you may feel as though he/she is getting more out of it (though you'll be following round removing Stuff from vice-like baby grip and be dealing with solids as well).

wigglesrock · 10/10/2010 16:51

Ledkr sorry for making you a week older Wink

Angels we're heading off on holiday with dds and baby in May, maybe June. Although we're heading to Ibiza, just realised dd1s passport has expired. Am slightly embarrassed that my dd had a passport from 3 months old!! Mr Wiggles wasn't even on a plane until he was 17!! (this is a constant refrain from him!!!)

Had lovely day at park, hopefully all nice and tired, dinner, bath, bed and that's just me Grin

zerominuszero · 10/10/2010 17:13

Well I can't give advice on the baby because I've never had one (yet) but one thing we found this year was that our "staycation" in the UK was actually more expensive than an all inclusive easyjet/value for money in Spain somewhere holiday. And this was with us only staying in a hotel for four days and with family for the rest of it. I don't know where our money went, but it went somewhere. So if we can afford a holiday next year it will definitely be abroad.

Hope everyone else and their bumps have had a good weekend.

ledkr · 10/10/2010 17:15

oo Ibiza. My favourite place in the world. Where abouts? I have many friends in es cana they own a bar on the beach and you can stay up late even with young kids. This is the place dh didnt want me to go as a compromise for his stag do.I wonder why. haha

Off swimming now. Have spent all day cooking. Todays dinner tomorrows dinner and a big cake. Didnt know the weather was going to be so nice or wouldnt have started it all.

wigglesrock · 10/10/2010 17:21

ledkr- we go to Santa Eulalia, got a last minute deal when dd1 was a baby and I was pregnant with dd2, had such a fab time we ended up going back a few times. Absolutely love it and so good for the girls too, we just swim, walk, eat and eat some more Blush

angels1 · 10/10/2010 18:23

yes ledkr I didn't expect people to bow to my feet and make a neat path for me as I'm pregnant when out and about (although wouldnn't complain Wink ) but I didn't expect to become seemingly invisible everywhere almost over night.

AS for holidays, after what you useful ladies have said I wondering if it might be better to wait until sept and hopefully have a baby who can appreciate it a little. Hopefully it won't find the car journey too boring/traumatic though.

EauRouge · 10/10/2010 19:58

Evening all

I'm soo tired, it's DD's birthday today and we had some family over to celebrate. She had a great day and got lots of lovely presents Grin and I only swore a few times when I was decorating the cake (an improvement on last year).

I can't really give any advice on holidays, DD was 11 months when we had our first holiday away so you'll be back at work by that point. I agree that smaller babies are far more portable and not having to worry about food is a bonus. With any luck the baby will sleep in the car, a lot of babies seem to.

americanexpat · 11/10/2010 10:33

I'm considering visiting my family next May (to attend a wedding) with the baby. Am I out of my mind to consider long-haul on my own with a 2-3 month old baby? I'm only considering it for the reasons Eaurouge mentioned but still wonder how I'll cope on my own.

knittakid - how's the allotment coming along? I got my first taste of ligament pain yesterday spreading compost then planted far too many onions. I think I'll have a well-deserved rest tonight!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 11/10/2010 10:42

2-3 months is the ideal timeframe for flying, frankly; they still sleep quite a bit and aren't mobile yet.

angels1 · 11/10/2010 11:04

prof are you (by you I mean mothers in general) really exhausted still at 2 - 3 months with sleepless nights/body getting back to normal etc or do things improve by then? I don't want to go on holiday when I'm completely shattered - I'd rather wait until there is some kind of routine and normality in my new life Hmm

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 11/10/2010 11:26

I was with DS (the Incredible Non-Sleeping Baby) but was fine with DD (more typical baby, I think). Even with DS, though, we had a week's holiday at 3.5 months and that was lovely -- we went to Budapest and he was small and portable enough to go sightseeing in a sling, and then we went to a "spa" (not really a spa, more a swimming pool complex) where he sat and stared at the breasts of all the women in bikinis while looking hopeful that one of them might feed him (which I suppose is pretty much "sightseeing" when you are 3 months old...).

ledkr · 11/10/2010 11:49

Hi all.Prof love th idea of your ds looking hopefully at the breasts.

Quick question for a friend. Is anyone still taking a pg vitamin and iron. I take pregnacare and am sure it makes me feel better.I think i notice when i dont take it.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 11/10/2010 11:56

I'm not, but I'm feeling so much more tired than I have done at this point before that I am wondering whether I am getting anaemic and should give some iron supplements a whirl.

americanexpat · 11/10/2010 12:08

Prof - Grin at your DS sightseeing.

ledkr - I'm still taking a pregnancy vitamin with iron every other day, alternated with the free NHS vitamins without iron. I still feel knackered 90% of the time, but I was the same at 12 weeks and my levels were normal.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 11/10/2010 12:12

If you liked that you'll like this... (you may have seen it before as it's been doing the rounds for at least five years or so) Grin

Tarlia · 11/10/2010 12:47

Haha that baby!!! That is so funny, bless him.

Hi everyone,

Sorry I've been MIA, my scan went really well on Thursday, thank you for asking w.Sheep and congratulations on you pink bump!! We did decide to wait for a surprise, so nothing to report. It does look like a baby, not a yeti, which is what I was expecting from the amount of heartburn I've been getting!

Over here they pretty much insist you take a pregnancy vitamin, 40/50 mg extra iron on top, vitamin d and also calcium if you do not consume enough milk/dairy daily. I do try, but I do feel a bit like a pill popping junkie!!

All this talk of holidays is making me crave one! Somewhere nice , hot and sunny please! Regarding food and weaning though, at 6 months if you are going down the BLW approach baby will sill be portable and eat bits of whatever you are having. Until 1 year solid food is only about taste and experimenting, nutrition comes from milk.

Anyway, just a short message from my phone on the run. I hope you are all enjoying the sunshine!!
