LOL lilmiss you and I could give each other a run for our money with our poorlinesses!

Really sorry about the financial hit you're taking, that's terrible!

Thanks samanthab for the very lovely and encouraging post! The care is amazing, I can't fault it, it really helps to know they are on the ball!

FingonTheValiant · 07/10/2010 12:37

Well, still no sign of baby here, but I do now have a baking tray full of heart-shaped chocolate chip shortbread - yum!!

I think I can kiss goodbye to going back to medical school in a year. Dh is a teacher, so we'll be royally screwed there, and something tells me that if the nhs is forced to save money bursaries for students and their childcare will be pretty near the top of the hitlist :( We were barely going to manage to feed ourselves and pay for childcare on one salary anyway - but we were relying on a payrise to help. We wont lose CB at least - or not until they drop the threshold anyway, which they seem bound to do!

Samantha I don't suppose you know if the pay freeze affects going through the threshold do you? Dh has just reached M6, so we were really hoping to get that next year as well!

Oh, and I'm pretty well resigned to the fact that I will never have a state pension - I just need to work out how to squirrel enough away that I can retire before I hit 85. Alternatively, I need to guilt trip my children into funding my retirement!

Sorry for the financial moan!

Dilly sorry to hear you're having such a bad time of it. I hope they can help you in the unit tomorrow!

lilmissmummy seems promising that the baby is that far down - hopefully bodes well for a successful induction!

shieldbug your dh sounds lovely! Sorry you've been in pain though, it's all you need on top of a rash!

Hope AbFab is progressing towards having a baby.

And really hope that everything is going well for SeaShells and Nymph

Hermya I feel like my body is just trying to wind me up as well, it's very cruel of it. Hopefully they'll just get on with it soon.

Oh, 39+4 today

AbFabT · 07/10/2010 12:44

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone.
I've called the m/w team and told them my status, they said it could still be A WEEK!!!!! Just to rest for now, and call when contractions are four minutes apart, or if my waters go, or if there is blood. I am chilled, going to use this time to rest - thought I'd be a domestic goddess and make cakes, but I'm feeling a pull to my bed instead, for now, anyway.
So that's my update, sorry it's not very exciting just yet!

Hope everyone else is doing great, sorry no name-checking from me right now - I'm going back to sleep.
xxx

lilmissmummy · 07/10/2010 13:05

AbFab A WEEK!!!! That is ages! Poor you! :( I had got all excited for you for a moment :) Have good sleep.

FtheV Sorry to hear it is not looking good for medical school. I think it is going to hit us all where it hurts.

Dilly glad to hear you are getting good care.

xx

sam12 · 07/10/2010 13:34

I'm on my phone so can't remember enough of what has been said to name check but it sounds like there is lots going on!!
I'm a teacher too and (think it was fingon who asked) it shouldn't affect going through threshold at the moment- who knows what's to come!!?
Well we got in our new house Tuesday. It is still only half finished but I feel a lot more relaxed knowing that j now have a home to bring the baby too. I have done nothing but sleep since we got in so going to try and be a bit more useful today.
Hope all is going well and looking forward to more arrivals soon

SamanthaB123 · 07/10/2010 13:53

Fingon I'm on the leadership group at school and in our performance management system teachers who fit the criteria are able to go through the threshold. We look at all teachers on M4 and M5 each year and ask them to collect evidence to support their application. In theory (although it varies from school to school) a teacher going through threshold should be able to evidence that they have been working on the post threshold 'standards' for two years before they will be considered (this could be when they were on M4 and M5). This is quite a change because in the past teacher's just got to M6 and went straight through. Is your DH in a primary school? I do have lots of documents that might be useful if it helps.

I've just had a little sleep. I feel lousy now Sad. Still have lower back ache, feel sick and all out of sorts. I'm sort of done with being pregnant now. I don't want to do the pain part and I just want the snuggly baby bit Smile.

Hope those in labour are progressing well, I keep checking for updates! I think Nymph has had an 8lb boy...

Hermya321 · 07/10/2010 15:22

Gosh we're all a bunch of sleepy bunnys today aren't we.

Sorry you feel crappy SamB and Dilly.

Dilly What were you studying to be?

Nymph Hope you're enjoying time with your new LO.

Gosh I'm so jealous of those of us that have given birth, I just want my little baby here now. It doesn't help that his coming home outfit finally arrived in the post this morning either.

DillyDora · 07/10/2010 16:15

I'm not studying anymore Hermya I'm a health psychologist, I got qualified a couple of years ago and now I lecture at a university...

Just had a lovely nap....

Hermya321 · 07/10/2010 16:45

Dilly Wow! Colour me impressed, I know how much work you have to put into stuff like that. Do you enjoy it?

DillyDora · 07/10/2010 17:25

Hermya I love it Grin I'd like to do more client work in the future but that means more qualies, I love teaching though and academic life is a riot (kind of like Fawlty Towers...)

SilverSky · 07/10/2010 18:13

If nymph is an 8lb boy and I guessed 8lb 2oz does that make me the closest and do I win a prize???

I am shattered. Been busy busy bee. Not felt much movement so sitting down to see if this will conjure up some activity!!!

In the meantime I have some muffins cooling in the kitchen. I will have to test drive a couple later. For food standards reasons. Obviously.

floozietoozie · 07/10/2010 18:24

SamB how do you know nymph has a boy? Is there a birth announcement somewhere?

Xavielli · 07/10/2010 18:46

I think it was just a guess Floozie - I'll go with 7lb 14oz Girl!

AbFabT · 07/10/2010 19:16

Contractions slowed down, don't think it's happening tonight. Am still in bed. Contractions when they do come are rather painful. DH here and being ace.

moonstorm · 07/10/2010 19:49

That's frustrating, Abfab!

Thinking of Nymph

Do you realise we're nearly halfway through this thread already..

I'm joinging everyone who is feeling tired today! Can't wait to go to bed, buit don't want to as sleeping is so painful at the moment!!

Can't decide whether to have my sweep next Thursday (when they say I'm 40 weeks, I say 39+3), I keep changing my mind...

Pros:
Will feel I've done everything I can
Might kick start things and avoid a cs
My body might actually be ready and they can surely check first?

Cons:
I don't think I'm term, so not ready
Small infection risk (but i'm strepb+)
If waters get broken by mistake, and labour doesn't start, then cs
Will it start the clock ticking for VBAC/ cs?

WWYD????

Floozie that weight gain is great!

What frustrates me with all these cuts is that they are happening so quickly and there iis no sliding scale. Everyone knows that we need to do something, but WHY can't bankers (etc) lose their bonuses/ the super rich pay? At home we'll cope by not spending - well we won't be able to as we'll have no disposable income! If enough people do this it'll be really bad for the economy, surely???

I feel 'ill' today amd tired and have had some discomfort, but I don't think it's a sign!!!

SamanthaB123 · 07/10/2010 20:03

Sorry, it was just a guess (Nymph's 8lb boy I mean). I hope that she's ok. No news from seashells either.

AbFab hang in there. That's what I've been like for a while now. It won't be much longer and you are almost certainly in pre-labour.

Moonstorm I am having a sweep at 39 weeks. Baby's are considered term at 37 weeks and I am so uncomfortable with my cyst that I can't wait. It's a really personal choice, you have to do what you are most comfortable with.

Feeling low and miserable here this evening. Going to bed. Lying down is so much more pleasant than sitting.

nymphadora · 07/10/2010 20:35

Haven't read everything as signal isv slow. 7lb 9 oz girl. Matilda. 11:07 this am. Pretty much textbook op & she is a star at feeding hence me taking so long to post. Bit difficult with loads of tubes & hungry baby. Will catch up properly when i get a better signal

ILoveGregoryHouse · 07/10/2010 20:38

Oh Lord, there's no way this one is staying in another three weeks! Am so low I can hardly walk. Off to bed to get no sleep! Good luck everyone else about to drop!

abfab I had ds2 2 days after my show.

moonstorm, personally, I'd have the sweep.Midwife will be able to tell you about the position of the cervix at the time and will have an idea about the likelihood of success.

OP posts:
shieldbug · 07/10/2010 20:39

hooray nymph! Congratulations. What a lovely name too. Glad she is feeding well. So pleased for you.

BackAgain · 07/10/2010 20:54

Congratulations Nymph lovely name and glad feeding is going well. Hope you get some rest

Like lots of other people I have been really tired and uncomfortable today but don't think anything is happening as only 37+3

Hope everyone who needs it gets some rest tonight

Vikks · 07/10/2010 20:54

Congratulations Nymph!
Beautiful name, enjoy those newborn snuggles. Smile x

Hang in there Abfab I'm sure you won't be waiting long. Wink x

Moonstorm Based on how I'm feeling right now, I'd go for the sweep if given the option. Let us know what you decide.

lilmissmummy · 07/10/2010 20:57

conratulations nymph and hello to baby Matilda!!! Pleased it went well xx

sassie23 · 07/10/2010 21:00

Moonstorm reading your dilemna re your sweep am in similar position they want to do sweep nx wk when I will be 38+4 but I am dubious as to what to do as I am group B+ too and really worried about infection risk too? WWYD I think I would go for it if I wasn't positive but don't want to risk infection for LO just to have earlier birth Confused

SilverSky · 07/10/2010 21:14

Yay nymph. Also loving the name!!

AbFabT · 07/10/2010 21:16

Hello, Matilda! And congratulations to nymph. Glad we have another baby along! Yay!

I'm on my rocking/gliding chair now, watching Prison Break (no spoilers please, haven't seen it before and am only on the first series), DH has just got in a takeaway Thai, so trying to take my mind off the painful contractions.
