WonnayWombat

my two stepdaughters are 16 and 15, and they have always been fine with each new baby. I married their dad when they were almost 5 and 6, and I must admit that with my first baby with DH, they were a bit jealous, but probably no more so than most other children with a new sibling.

However, this time the news has not gone down as well, mainly because we are a bit cramped for space, need to move, and both of them have important years at school...at least, that's what I think is the issue. I'm sure they'll be fine in time, as always!

With your SC being older, the news may be a bit disconcerting to them at first, because they're older and will have to deal with having a much younger sibling, but, if it seems that way, all you can do is to assure them that there is enough love to go around for their needs at the stage they're all at.No one will be forgotten or sidelined.I doubt they'll be particularly put out by it to the extent that it would cause problems (they could even be excited!), so just break it to them when everyone is relaxed, maybe during a meal or something?

petitech · 06/10/2010 22:12

I can't figure out how to copy and paste the list on my phone but my eta :) is 5th June, number one! X

mrshedgie · 06/10/2010 22:27

The nausea has started, for sure. I feel vaguely queasy all the time, when I'm hungry and after a meal as well. I've ordered an aromatherapy roll-on thing, that you roll onto your wrist and sniff, to relieve nausea. I find drinking peppermint or lemon tea, and eating small and often helps a lot, too, but I'm dreading this getting a bit worse.

Yarnie · 07/10/2010 07:28

Oh dear. DS has coxsackie virus which presents a small MC or growth retardation risk in the first trimester. I'm definitely not going to rest until that first scan.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 07/10/2010 08:17

Oh Yarnie :( Hope it is all okay!

Welcome Featherblue - we shared EDDs!

I have a DSS who is 9, but he is not getting told until after the 12 week scan - we don't really want any family knowing until after the scan. We will tell DS first as he is going to be more affected by the arrival of a new sibling, plus he won't really get it at first!

featherblue · 07/10/2010 10:43

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I'm still feeling quite worried. My tests haven't really gotten much darker the past two days, so I'm worried about another chemical. Not due my period until Sunday, so I'm trying to put it out of my mind ? easier said than done.

Kara ? EDD twins!

roughdraft · 07/10/2010 13:14

StarflowerGirl, it seems a few of us are experiencing the rapid breast growth. I've not had to buy new clothes but had to get a new bra as mine were killing me. And sadly, I've actually grown more than I thought because I needed size GG (started at FF). I dread to think what size I'm going to be by the end of this!

featherblue I hope it all works out for you. Sunday'll be here soon.

CuppaTeaJanice · 07/10/2010 13:41

I feel like a zombie today. DS is at nursery today so I've spent the morning in bed - I can't work out if it's due to lack of sleep or if I need to take an iron tablet (can we take those now?). I really need to do some work this afternoon but my brain is being far too gormless!! Even setting off three smoke alarms with burnt teacakes hasn't woken me up!!! (Just realised that's the second time my terrible cooking has been mentioned in this thread Blush)

Very Envy of all your expanding norks! Mine are still 32B/C. I didn't get the Jordanesque boobs I was hoping for last time, so not holding out much hope this time either!

I hope everybody is well and having a good day.

petitech · 07/10/2010 19:58

Hi cuppateaj I read your message quickly and thought you said you ate three teacakes and I thought you go girl, gotta love teacake! I'm in the small boob brigade too but at only five one, prob for best as might topple over :) haven't berm sick yet bit keep doing a horrible empty wretch, very ladylike and totally charming hehe! The weekend is in sight ladies!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 07/10/2010 20:10

Cuppatea - you can take pregnancy supplements and they normally have iron in them. If you are shown to be iron deficient you can get fluorodex(sp?)on prescription, which is gentler than normal iron tablets, which can make you constipated.

I am a bit worried (probably silly really) but we were on holiday in Spain this week and I got bitten by mozzie and a couple of the bites turned nasty (I'm allergic to them so the bites generally do fo nasty!) so I am hoping that they won't affect the bean!

I have been utterly random as I have told my wondow cleaner - he got very excited a couple of weeks ago as his DW is also pg, and he let it slip out, she is due in June as well :)

So if any of you are my window cleaner's DW don't be too hard on him as he is just very very excited :)

Irrelephant · 07/10/2010 20:35

Bowing out here. Started MC last night. Thanks ladies and my best wishes to you all :)

GoodVibrations · 07/10/2010 20:51

Irrelephant I am so so sorry to hear that. I hope you are ok and that you are getting support from your family. My friend MC recently and I am really rubbish at knowing what to say, but I will be thinking about you tonight and wish you all the best for the future

Igglybuff · 07/10/2010 20:54

Sorry to hear about your loss irrelephant. I hope it all works out for you x

GoodVibrations · 07/10/2010 21:07

Ladies sorry I am quite behind on this thread. There are so many newcomers so welcome to everyone. I hope you are all ok this evening.

Just noticed the comments on expanding norks. I too am Envy as also small and not much expanding going on here. Last pg I went from a B to and F cup and they were so huge I couldn't shave under my arms as they were full of boob!. They soon went back to normal though when my milk supply decreased :(

My appetite remains seriously scary. I am quite slim and I have no idea where I am storing all this food. I usually have a fairly healthy diet, but am craving saturated fat Shock Today I've eaten:

Toast
2 x cereal bars
Enormous roast pork lunch
Cheese & crackers
Pickled guerkins (don't ask!)
Fruit
Spare ribs
Chinese takeaway

Last pg I put on 2.5 stone and stopped weighing myself. I then went through christmas and DD was born 5 weeks early. I would guess I reached 3 stone which is 1/3 of my body weight Blush. I dread to think how big I will be if I get to full term.

StarflowerGirl · 07/10/2010 21:08

I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss irrelephant. Please take care of yourself. You are in my thoughts.

sasamaxx · 07/10/2010 21:16

Featherblue, roughdraft, karastrabuckthrace, yarnie and Mrsmills congratulations and welcome!

Irrelephant - so sorry to hear that. Take care of yourself x

I'm still just tired and constipated but can't reall complain.
Oh - and I am eating as much as I possibly can - so hungry all the time Grin

sasamaxx · 07/10/2010 21:26

GV I gained 3.5 (3 and a half) stone with DS and I was only 8.5 (8 and a half) stone to start with - so quite an impressive body mass increase Grin

Last time, I stopped weighing myself after about 2.5 stone somewhere around 32 weeks so it was another good 'un.

Both times, I gained 2 stone by 20 weeks.
I worried myself sick the first time, convinced that this was a sign of something wrong, and pregnancy weight-gain guides in magazines and on websites did nothing to reassure me.

It's obviously just the way my body does pregnancy though Smile

I love your list of today's food - here is my intake today:

2 slices Toast
1 Chocolate Biscuit
1 Banana
2 Fruit shortcake
2 scrambled egg rolls with cheese and chillies
1 Pear
5 Quavers (from DD's packet)
1 Bag chips from chippy
Half 12" Margharita Pizza
1 Portion curry sauce (from chinese and poured over chips)
1 Glass bottle Irn Bru
1 Bottle Copella Apple Juice
6 Cups Tea
1 Pregnacare

Not very healthy but very delicious!

GoodVibrations · 07/10/2010 21:40

sasamaxx brilliant Grin I am so impressed, and relieved that I am not the only one eating for 200 Last pg I craved sugar and was addicted to Krispy Creme donuts. This time it may well be pork pies Grin

Pashazade · 07/10/2010 22:09

Hi Ladies
Joining here with a due date of 10th June so about six weeks in. Haven't told anyone, first one and so I'm waiting to get to 12 weeks before I tell....
Reading all the threads about increasing boobs I am thanking my lucky stars that mine appear to be as normal I'm already a 34G I so do not want to increase early on!! It costs too much to get a decent bra :)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 08/10/2010 07:19

I am worried about my weight - I am already 4 stone over my ideal weight so I really need to avoid putting any more on!!

Thinking about joining Slimming World again bu would have to do it online as I cannot get to the classes around my way, as they are either when I am working or early evening which is impossible with a toddler, and my DH can't get home in time to look after him.

misshoohaa · 08/10/2010 08:14

Morning all! Here comes the morning sickness...... Only mild at the moment but there all the same-quite pleased it's making it feel real.
I might have to do another test this weekend still can't believe it!
Happy Friday!

Igglybuff · 08/10/2010 09:09

Morning! miss my sickness has started too. Last time around, I had to have protein for breakfast to stave it off (eggs, bacon, sausages!) plus snacks by the bed to eat as soon as I woke up!

Kara have you spoken to your GP? What are the rules on losing weight when pregnant?

I'm not eating much more - that kicked in during the third trimester last time. I ate icecream every day as had bad heartburn. Made worse by the fact that DS took up so much room, my stomach had less capacity. Which I'd forget, eat loads then feel sick Grin

Pashazade · 08/10/2010 09:19

Morning! I agree with Iggly Kara I'm not sure you are actively allowed to diet during pregnancy, but you should check with your GP first, changing your diet however is probably the simplest way to make sure you only gain baby weight and nothing else. I'm definitely 3 stone over my ideal weight...and trying not to worry too much although dreading the additional weight gain on top of what I am already! :)

StarflowerGirl · 08/10/2010 09:24

Morning. Another morning sickness sufferer here. It's really kicked into high gear this morning but I think that might have something to do with nerves over my job interview today. I've got my travel sickness bands on in hopes that they stave off the worst of it and I don't embarrass myself in the interview.

iggly I'm not eating much more than normal either. I don't have a particularly large appetite usually and pregnancy doesn't seem to have changed that yet.

yellowtomato · 08/10/2010 10:07

Hi everyone, mind if I join?
I got my BFP today 13DPO......am in shock!

This is my first, had an early MMC just over a year ago so am fighting excitement with fear.

12 weeks is going to seem forever!

I don't want to tell anyone but I am such a big drinker normally that no 'antibiotics' stories will be believed......

I think my EDD would be 18th June

(and you guys are the first to know, haven't even told my partner yet.) Smile
