Thanks everyone, am feeling a bit better today, think another 2 hour bath is on the cards!

Hope you're all having a good day, and looking forward to the weekend :)

StarflowerGirl · 01/10/2010 12:12

Hi everyone,

GoodVibrations I'm glad you're feeling better. My mum always used to say "have a bath, you'll feel better" and it seems as though she's right. Smile

I had my first appointment with the GP today. Normally they don't want to see you until you're around 7-8 weeks but I have an underlying health condition so I booked early just to make sure I'm still ok taking my meds etc.

I got to, tentatively, pick the hospital I'd like to give birth in (didn't dare mention that I'm thinking of a home birth!), was told I'd have scans at 11 weeks and 20 weeks and that I should hear from the midwife when I'm around 7 weeks. It's all so exciting! Smile

Igglybuff · 01/10/2010 12:58

Glad to hear you're feeling better GV.

star I remember being too scared to have a homebirth with DS. They tries to scare me when I finally did pluck up the courage but they weren't able to put me off. Had him at home a year ago today Grin

GoodVibrations · 01/10/2010 13:19

starflower that is very exciting!

I planned a homebirth with DD, but as she was premature it was not meant to be :(

Glad you're feeling better GoodVibrations. I haven't really had many symptoms either - keep having to remind myself that I've had two positive tests otherwise I might start to think I've made it all up!

Agonising about whether to tell anyone - the key issue is whether my mum (who it seems weird not to tell) will be able to keep a lid on it until 12 weeks without telling the rest of the family. It seems unlikely!

Irrelephant · 01/10/2010 15:16

Hi I know I'm a bit late joining this but I put off doing a test for a few weeks and got a positive within seconds of doing the test yesterday :) Had awful morning sickness already :(
I hope you don't mind me jumping in with you all :)

BarbieLovesKen · 01/10/2010 15:30

Goodvibrations so glad your feeling better.

Igglybuff huge happy birthday to your ds!!! did you think this day last year you'd be on your way to do it all over again in 12 months time??

Starflowergirl good to hear you got on well at docs, actually have my appointment too for Monday at 3pm - was going to wait for a few weeks but, like you, really need to enquire about medication Im on (or rather have stopped taking).

Irrelephant huge welcome and even bigger congratulations!!!!! delighted to have another June baby on board!!. Sorry to hear your so ill already, have you any idea what date your due yet?? You have great discipline not doing a test for a while!!

Folks, is anyone else desperately ill already? I hate to start moaning already but the nausea this time round is unbearable, Im only vomiting every now and then but the nausea is actually waking me up at night to either get sick/ want to get sick (sorry tmi) This is since under 4 weeks and was only 5 on Wednesday. Having terrible stretching time cramps and exhaustion is really dehabilitating even though Im used to being so much busier than I am these days (and on previous pregnancies). Have obvious pregnancy bump already, would you believe that?

Wonder is its anything to do with ds only being 8 months...

Hope everyone is well. When is everyone else going to Docs?

Not too sure on due date yet thinking early june :) I'm putting off making an appointment with a midwife too and I don't know why? I'm so excited about the baby as is my partner but I'm stupidly scared too :)

BarbieLovesKen · 01/10/2010 15:35

Aw, I think thats perfectly normal to be honest!! Until we all get past the dreaded 12 weeks its a constant worry. Positive Mental Attitude though, we'll all be fine, babies will be healthy and they'll be loads of celebrating on this thread!!!

BarbieLovesKen · 01/10/2010 15:36

And now I have fucking indigestion.. at 5 weeks pregnant?? wonderful.

StarflowerGirl · 01/10/2010 15:49

Barbie Some people swear that lots of morning sickness means twins. Hmm Do you have any twins in your family?

Irrelephant Congratulations!!!! Is this your first?

Iggly Happy Birthday to your little boy! Grin

StarflowerGirl · 01/10/2010 16:08

Forgot to say Barbie that you're not alone with the stretching pains and indigestion. I have them too (I'll be 5 weeks tomorrow) and from what I've read both are pretty normal for this stage.

IsabelleSE19 · 01/10/2010 16:29

Although I haven't had morning sickness yet, I've been feeling slightly off. A little bit queasy, a little bit delicate, a little bit less appetite, but if I didn't know I was pg I think I'd hardly have noticed the difference. Long way to go yet though - plenty of time for full-on sickness!

GoodVibrations · 01/10/2010 17:26

Evening ladies, I've had a big breakthrough at work (without actually doing anything!). Boss has basically retracted on pretty much everything she said in our last meeting (sent me a letter today). I have absolutely no idea why (other than I think she knows I was raising a grievance as I spoke to HR). Very confusing but very good news also! What I wouldn't give right now for a huge glass of wine!!

Barbie sorry to hear that you are suffering. Indigestion at 5 weeks, that is really rubbish :(

Irrelephant congratulations and welcome!!

GoodVibrations · 01/10/2010 17:28

By the way, I got my first twinge of excitement about the pg earlier, which given how crappy things have been since I found out is a very nice feeling indeed :)

IsabelleSE19 · 01/10/2010 17:42

Fantastic news GoodVibrations - you must feel so relieved! I've spent all day filling in an application for a job I really really want, so am hoping I get that relief feeling soon too. Can't imagine landing a new job and not celebrating with something chilled though!

OverThePond · 01/10/2010 19:57

goodvibes That's such great news about work. Glad you had the confidence to take it to HR, makes it easier for people who aren't able to or are hesitant to. Makes sense that a little less stress would allow you to get excited about the pg.

I'm still waiting on my third hcg count. Fingers crossed for a nice big number as I'd like to not have to go to the hospital on Sunday for a blood draw.

As for symptoms, at least for now it means you're all well and properly pregnant. Wink

mrshedgie · 01/10/2010 21:02

Good evening...

sorry to all those who are feeling awful right now...I know how draining it is.

Welcome to new posters, can't wait to share this journey with everyone.

Should I add my due date? My EDD is 2nd June.

melltobe · 02/10/2010 01:58

goodvibrations that's fantastic news, what a big worry off your mind. I'm really happy that you can start really getting excited about your pregnancy now. :)

Welcome Irrelephant! Will this be your first? There are a few first timers here (including me) but we're lucky enough to be surrounded by lots of experts too, phew!

I'm still symtomless. I'm tired but until I start feeling queasy it still won't feel real! I'm sure I'll regret saying that...

Btw does a large part of being pregnant involve feeling guilty? I ate something I'd heated in the microwave the other day then read a book which made me feel like I was the worst person in the world.Shock I know it's just about being sensible but it's hard to know if some things you read are extreme (e.g. avoiding nail varnish?) or sensible. I'd hate to think I was doing anything wrong but it seems like such a minefield! Confused

OverThePond · 02/10/2010 02:35

Bye folks. It was ectopic and caught early enough to avoid surgery. (Not that these drugs are pleasant). I'll be off MN for a while as I'm to wait several months while the tubes heal. When I return I'll check in to see that you're all rolling along in 2nd trimester. Best of luck and health to all.

Igglybuff · 02/10/2010 07:20

overthepond, I'm really sad to hear that. I hope it all goes well for you and will look out for you in the future.

mell the guilty begins now and continues into parenthood I'm afraid.... For example, I feel guilty for being pregnant as DS will get jealous when number 2 (fingers crossed) arrives. It's ridiculous, I know!

good luck Isabelle with the job app. Your username - is that an indication of where you live? If so, you're not far from me!

GV hurrah for excitement! I'm not there yet.

Barbie, no I didn't think I'd be doing it again so soon Shock And after the last few nights, I'm wondering what on earth have I let myself in for?? (DS is waking up twice a night and it's killing me). Sorry to hear your symptoms are so bad so early! Could you have more than one in there Wink

Thanks for the birthday messages. As expected, DS was none the wiser that it was his birthday!

petitech · 02/10/2010 09:54

Hello there, I've been looking for a June 'group' and would love to join you lovely ladies :)
I got a v v v faint BFP on 24/09 on holiday as was umming and ahhing over whether to get stuck into the sangria or not! Did a further five or so tests Blush over next week or so as kept thinking it could be affected by heat etc (don't ask!!!) and they are all pretty consistent! According to online calcs I think my due date would be first week of June - I say would as this is my first and I'm so so so so nervous to thinking that this 'will' happen until I get further along! I'm half excited and half paranoid that everytime I go to the loo I will wipe and it'll be over :( Trying to take good care of myself, sleep lots and cut down on caffeine. Have told my DH and Mum but that's it so far. Haven't really had too many symptoms apart from feeling v v v bloated and gassy (nice!), having lots of CM and I think I'm feeling emotional, put it this way the message about the evil boss above brought a tear to my eye! Look forward to getting to know everyone and wishing you all healthy days and weeks ahead :o

CuppaTeaJanice · 02/10/2010 10:02

Sorry to hear that overthepond. I hope you have a quick recovery and wish you the best of luck for the future. Do come back to this thread when you feel up to it and let us know how you're getting on.

meltobe the guilt depends largely on the expectations you have of yourself. If you put pressure on yourself to be a perfect mother, then of course you're going to feel guilty a lot of the time. If you have the philosophy that you're going to do your best for your family, and that means putting yourself first sometimes, and accept that you will make mistakes sometimes, then you won't find guilt eating away at you so much.

Poor Barbie - everyone thinks she's having twins!! Hope you're feeling a bit better today!

Welcome Irrelephant - you're not late joining, I suspect there will be lots more people joining us before long - late June babies will only just have been conceived. Another couple of weeks before their mothers get their BFPs. Plus some people won't want to join until after their scans. It will be a while before our group is complete!

CuppaTeaJanice · 02/10/2010 10:09

Welcome petitech - pmsl at you doing a test before cracking open the sangria! Did your DH have to drink the whole bottle by himself?

I know what you mean about the heightened emotions - after DS was born I couldn't even watch 'Lost' as it was too violent and I'd get upset!!!!Blush

petitech · 02/10/2010 10:12

Hehe, well I thought to myself, if I'm not pg I don't want to make myself miserable by not having fun. Do you know if I should contact the midwives directly or do they contact you once you've given details at the GP? I'm a Newbie t this :)
