Thanks Janice :) i will do!

stargirl30 · 27/09/2010 10:22

Hello everyone, I think I'm due in June but had a very bizarre irregular cycle so I may yet join the May club!
I have a DD who is nearly 2.

Not getting many symptoms yet apart from being STARVING, although I didn't know with DD till about 6 weeks so wouldn't expect any symptoms yet.
Feeling a bit nervous having found out so early and have had some spotting although keep trying to remind myself this is perfectly normal.
stargirl x

melltobe · 27/09/2010 10:29

Thanks mrshedgie that's really reassuring. I'm sure I'll start to relax a bit more as soon as it has all completely sunk in.

rosieposey in case you do check this again, I wish you all the very best for the future.

Welcome to stargirl - we're still a nice small, quite new group. I'm a bit lacking in the symptom department too so you're in good company! :)

sasamaxx · 27/09/2010 11:09

Congratulations everyone!!

Can I tentatively join in?
AF was due yesterday and I had some strange fluttery sensations so took a test last night and got a faint line.
Haven't worked out dates yet but am assuming start of June some time. Haven't told anyone apart from DH yet.

I'm slightly concerned as I was drinking several times last week. I also had a boozy night out on Sat night too - v v concerned now and feeling really really guilty Sad

Anyway, I'm also feeling quite dizzy today - am assuming the low blood pressure has probably kicked in already.

So nice to see such an active group already!! Smile

Totallyfloaty35 · 27/09/2010 12:44

Dont panic sasamaxx, you wont have damaged baby.Loads of women drink before getting a bfp with no harm. Its sustained heavy drinking that causes probs and im sure your not planning on drinking a bottle of Vodka a week for the next 9 monthsSmile
Rosie really sorry to hear of your negatives, keeping everything crossed that you had too dilute a urine sample or a dodgey test.
Well im now officially late for AF and to my horror morning sickness has kicked in Sad I threw up in the carpark of dds pre-school.I never usually get it til 6wks so im really annoyed.
Sorry to see some of you having work probs, hope it gets sorted for you.

sasamaxx · 27/09/2010 18:27

Thanks for the reassurance totallyfloaty Smile
Can't believe you have morning sickness already Shock

rosieposey so sorry to hear that - hope you're ok

stargirl I'm starving too - but then it's any excuse for being starving with me i suppose Wink

goodvibrations I've def been a bit short tempered too!

I checked out a pregnancy calculator and it looks like I'm due 5th June. Still such early days though - am going to test again in a couple of days but lots of fluttery activity going on down there at the moment so fingers crossed!

mrshedgie · 28/09/2010 08:19

HI all,

Rosieposey,

so sorry, I'm disappointed for you, but very best wishes for next time. Take good care of yourself!

x

Yvonne

StarflowerGirl · 28/09/2010 09:02

Hi everyone,

Rosie I'm so sorry to hear your news. I hope the July bus is a good one for you.

Welcome to the group sasamaxx! I echo everyone else's responses ref the little slip up. I doubt you'll have done any damage.

totally Urgh. Sad Sorry that morning sickness has kicked in so early. Hopefully it'll stop earlier too, y'never know!

I've been feeling a teeny weeny bit queasy of a morning and have gone off my food a bit but am usually back to normal by about 2 o'clock. I'm waiting for it to kick in properly.

Hubby's family are visiting the weekend after next and, if all is still well, we plan on telling them about the baby then. Has anyone else told family yet?

IsabelleSE19 · 28/09/2010 12:44

Hi all - I'm taking the Mumsnet plunge after being a part-time lurker!

After two positive tests (one so faint I think DH thought I was making it up, but it was definitely there!) I am seeing the GP tomorrow. Only symptom other than missed period I've had so far is acute sense of smell - weird. And also fatter than usual, but to be fair that started months before I got pregnant - no hope of losing weight now!

Due date on internet was May 31, but it's my first and they're usually late aren't they? I was my mum's first and I was two weeks late in one of the hottest summers on record - sorry mum!

I see a few people are having work issues - me too. I don't have boss problems though because unfortunately I don't have one - was made redundant at the end of August and am now a pregnant job-seeker. Not ideal.

When are people telling everyone? I went out on Saturday night and was drinking soft drinks because I was 'ill' but sure everyone suspected. Don't know how many sober, lying evenings I can sit through!

StarflowerGirl · 28/09/2010 13:06

Welcome to the group Isabelle glad you decided to delurk! Congrats on your BFP!

Like you I'm a pregnant job seeker. I'm hoping I get some interviews before I start showing because I don't fancy my chances of employment once it becomes obvious that I'm pregnant. Does anyone know the legal side of things on that? Can you legally be turned down for a job because you're pregnant?

melltobe · 28/09/2010 14:04

Hi Isabelle, welcome and congratulations! Is this your first? If so, it is for me and starflowergirl too! I have no symptoms yet either (apart from pre menstrual feeling boobs - I get that they're not pre menstrual now but that's exactly how they feel).

Sorry that you both have worries with job hunting, I'm afraid I don't know anything about the legalities - I'd be pretty sure no one could legally turn you down though?

I've not told anyone except DH and my dentist! I plan to tell my family and best friends at the weekend. They'd be the people I'd want to tell if things didn't go to plan anyway so I figure that's the best way to go.

I'm feeling bombarded with info - what to eat (does ANYONE manage their 5 a day?!), what not to eat and then I end up reading about all sorts of other things. I'm determined not to get paranoid but I even read that nail varnish (& remover) aren't a great idea. Is that just over the top?

IsabelleSE19 · 28/09/2010 14:28

Hi StarflowerGirl and melltobe! Yes, it is my first so am fairly clueless. I've pretty much done all the wrong things already before I knew I was pregnant - drunk alcohol, lots of caffeine, used DEET insect repellent, taken cystitis medication. And not eaten nearly enough fruit and veg!

Ideally I'd wait until after scan before I tell people, but I can't see myself holding out that long. One of my best friends is a doctor and has already had one of her own, so will def tell her at least. And my mum possibly so that perhaps she'll finally shut up about how I shouldn't wait too long! (Am 34 BTW).

Job-wise, haven't even managed to get an interview so far, but if I do there's no way I'm telling them until I have to. No point until after scan anyway so hopefully will get something before then. I think legally they can't refuse you on grounds of being pregnant, but they could easily say it was for another reason and it would be hard to prove otherwise. So keep quiet I reckon!

Just plonking down a cushion and will settle in properly when I am less terrified.

You musn't blame me as the look on my doctor's face when she handed me the positive test was (in hindsight) priceless. Apparently, earliest positive she's seen (2 days post OV). Blood test has confirmed it though and will have another tomorrow to see that the HcG levels are doubling properly. Was having severe pains and spotting for 5 days so am having all this done to rule out ectopic. I'm still a bit in shock as we were still in SWI mode as I've had two long cycles.

I'm playing with fire as I realize how early it is, but since no one in RL knows, I need MN to cope. Am telling one friend as is DH so we each have a RL ear and shoulder, but haven't seen her yet.

I'm sympathizing with all the folks looking for jobs. It's very tough. I have had coworkers in the past who hid it until benefits in place etc. I am to start a new job in 3 weeks and am also writing my dissertation, so expect the next 9 months to be hectic, and hope my brain can still form cogent thoughts.

CuppaTeaJanice · 28/09/2010 16:56

Hi everybody, and welcome to all the newcomers!

I've just had my booking in appointment with the midwife - a no nonsense, Ann Widdecombe type woman, completely unlike the petite, soft spoken midwife I had with DS. She was very nice though, although she did inform me that DS was probably 10lb 4oz due to the enormous amount of sherbet I consumed in my pregnancy! It's very hard to fight cravings but I'm under strict instructions to eat lots of pasta and potatoes this time!!

She gave me a due date of 29th May, but I'd like to stay in this group if that's ok with you all. DS was 4 days late and if this one's the same that makes 2nd June! Also I can't be bothered to plough through 600 odd posts to get to know the May bunch!!!

Another person having a fifth child! Wow!! We seem to have mainly the extremes here in this group - first timers and those on number 5!!!

Those with toddlers, when are you telling them? I've been talking about 'Would you like a little brother or sister?' to DS (he chose sister!) but I don't know whether to talk about it in a more concrete way. I don't want him blurting stuff out to people I won't be telling until after the scan, and I don't want him upset if something goes wrong, but we plan to tell the parents soon and I don't know how to include/exclude him from the conversation. Any ideas?

Igglybuff · 28/09/2010 17:23

Just marking spot for a proper catch up later. Quick reply to cuppateajanice - my DS is not quite 1 yet, so he wont understand (I dont think) until I get a bit fatter! Also my due date according to calculators online is also 29 May so I'll stay too Grin

sasamaxx · 28/09/2010 17:35

Thanks for the reassurance starflowergirl
Welcome to Isabelle, imarriedafrog and overthe pond - congrats on the BFPs Smile

Wow cuppateajanice - can't believe you've had your booking in already - I don't think we get it until the scan date!

Congrats to all the 1st time and 5th timers (and everyone else in between)
I forgot to say anything about me.
This will be my 3rd - I have a DS who is 4 (5 in Jan) and a DD who is 2 Smile

I told one of my friends today - it's very difficult because you don't want people hearing through the grapevine so have to really trust people to keep it to themselves.

I've really been loving horseriding recently - been getting back into it after a long pause. Is it a complete no-no even in the early days does anyone know?

IsabelleSE19 · 28/09/2010 17:45

Update on the heightened sense of smell: I literally followed the smell trail of a man's body odour out of Sainsbury's earlier (like that bit in Donnie Darko with people's auras if anyone's seen that!). Utterly rank.

Also got Rough Guide to Pregnancy and Birth and a baby names book out of the library - hope I'm not tempting fate as I can only be about five weeks pg.

OverThePond · 28/09/2010 19:57

oh, and it's my first after seven years of marriage and telling people I don't want children as I was so tired of answering the when question, so can't wait to shock people when we're ready to tell... Grin

sasamaxx · 28/09/2010 20:34

Wow overthepond - that's fantastic.
Fingers crossed over the next few weeks for everyone

stargirl30 · 29/09/2010 08:30

Hi cuppateajanice, my DD is nearly 2 and I haven't talked to her about it yet. We have talked about brothers and sisters in general. She loves Peppa pig so seeing that as a good sign :-) anyone know a cartoon with 2 sisters in it?
A friend is pregnant so we've talked to her about that but DD doesn't really get it. I'm planning to wait till I've got a bump before we really explain it to her.

CuppaTeaJanice · 29/09/2010 09:10

stargirl30 do you have Sky tv? If so then there is a programme with 2 sisters (badgers) at 7.30pm on Cartoonito (channel 619). It's called Frances. It's quite good, DS likes it!

StarflowerGirl · 29/09/2010 10:49

Hi everyone and welcome to all the new comers! Congrats on your BFPs!

Wow OTP Your first after 7 years of marriage! I'm not surprised you were shocked when you got a positive! Grin

My queasiness is ramping up a gear and I'm exhausted thanks to having had a bad nights sleep last night because of tired achey legs. Feeling a bit rough today because we're at the point at which I miscarried last time. I'm anxious and sad but trying to be hopeful and focus on the fact that this is a different pregnancy and that I'm healthy and well unlike last time. I'm just having a wobble moment I think. Confused

I hope everyone else is feeling ok.

Hello All
I got a BFP on Monday (after a negative test) so am still a bit unbelieving but hopeful. Seing GP next Monday, soonest I could get an appointment. This I my second, have a DD who is nearly 23 months. Few
symptoms yet, apart from thirst which was chronic with DD1 too and doesn't help with nocturnal visits!
Looking forward to geting to know you all Smile Think I'm due beginning of June, bit unsure of dates.
