Minione I remember when I was pregnant with DS I was reading (upside down) a list of my midwife's patients (is that what we're called?) with their names and dates of birth. There was me with 1975, a few others born in the 1970s and 80s, and one girl born in 1991. I felt really old when I realised she was born as I sat my mock GCSEs!! I'm sure some of the people I went to school with are grandparents now. That's scary!!!

moomin156 · 19/10/2010 10:41

janice i know for a fact that some of the people i went to school with are grandparents....scary.
I also know that a lot of my close friends will be glad they are not going through a baby again as most of my friends children vary from 6 - 14. I have always been the childless friend, they will be so excited for me when i break the news, as as a group we have had a bit of a shit year with one thing or another. This at least will be positive news ( fingers crossed

doughnutty · 19/10/2010 10:48

Hiya! Got room for one more?

Got BFP this morning. Thought I might be pregnant about 2 weeks ago when AF was late but I was wary as we spent 2 years ttc DS (who's 11 months now) so POA lot of S. This time looks like 1st time off contraception Shock. Had just been to doc last week about coming off AD's in order to start ttc. He told me to wean off and try to leave it for 3 months to flush my system so I'm a bit worried about side effects. Will now go cold turkey and hope withdrawal isn't too bad.

Probably due around the middle of June.

I suffered with hyperemesis last time and was off work from about 2 months until DS was born. Went back for a KIT day yesterday (obv before BFP) and now I'm bricking it as I'll have to tell my boss when I start back properly. Already been off for 18 months. Hope no nausea this time round.

Sorry this is long but need to tell someone and only DH and DS know atm.

moomin156 · 19/10/2010 10:54

Welcome doughnutty and congratulations on your BFP

NurseSunshine · 19/10/2010 10:54

Morning everyone :) Does anyone else feel as though they're "not really" pregnant? I feel as though, because I'm not chucking up all the time then it could still be a huge mistake or something! The only symptoms I have are EXTREME tiredness, and getting up a zillion times in the night for a wee! I just want this next 5 weeks to go by as quickly as possible so I can see my little baby! Grin

Cep - I think as long as you eat healthily and do some light excercise everyday you should be fine.

Sarah Sorry, I'm usurping your position as baby of the group, I'm 22 (and 10 months [hgrin])

NurseSunshine · 19/10/2010 10:56

PS is anyone else here on ADs? Did your doc advise coming off them before becoming pregnant doughnutty?

moomin156 · 19/10/2010 11:05

Morning nursesunshine yes thats me, you have even more symptoms than i have....the fact that i havent had AF for over 2 weeks is the only sign i have, that and the occasional sore boobs. Oh and i have completely gone off " doing the deed" which isnt like me (sorry tmi).
But reading the threads form those that are suffering i guess we should be grateful

cep · 19/10/2010 11:12

well i'm 32 so which bus do i get on? Welcome doughnutty.

i find it odd that they don't check if you are actually pregnant, they just take your word for it. Last time until my 12 weeks scan i half really believe i actually was, i honestly thought that all the pregnancy tests i took were wrong somehow. I have a feeling it might be the same today.

feeling a bit sick today, more tummy pains but think that's more cause of the water infection and antibiotics than anything else, haven't really felt anything, no booby pain (although last night my nips hurt a little i got all excited thinking it was a sign. [hgrin]

Thanks nurse sunshine since doing sw i have been better at eating healthily i just got all emotional last night, should know better than to go looking for clothes

mrswantstobeamum · 19/10/2010 11:13

Morning ladies - mind if I join?

Got my first BFP about a week ago, and as an obsessive POASer, many more after that! I'm looking at a 22 June due date. This will be our first Smile

Symptoms currently include exhaustion, very sore boobs, the lovely bloating/flatulence/constipation combination (sorry if TMI!), mild pulling/cramping sensations around my uterus, and the nose of a bloodhound! So far my strongest reaction has been to people on public transport who reek of beer and cigarettes, but strange things are also bothering me, such as the smell of fresh ink from a newspaper! The other day I spent quite some time trying to figure out if I was walking near someone who was smoking, then it dawned on me that apparently all of London smells like cigarettes to me at the moment! Must be the pollution. I've been a tad queasy so far, but haven't been sick yet. I'm afraid I might end up with horrible MS, as I'm someone who gets nauseous easily even when not PG.

Had an appointment with my GP this morning, which was really a let-down! I just filled out two forms, confirmed that I didn't smoke and was taking folic acid. The only advice I got was to make sure to book a nice holiday before the baby comes! I'm a bit irritated because I will be nearly 11 weeks at my booking appointment with a midwife. Has anyone else had to wait so long?

Now going to try to read through the last 30 pages to see what I've missed! Looking forward to this adventure with you all!

NurseSunshine · 19/10/2010 11:16

Oh well there's no point in looking at clothes for the next 7 months at least! I thought/think all the pregnancy tests were wrong as well.

I also have no soreness in the boob area although they are rather bigger than normal. I've been well off "the deed" too moomin, also not like me. DP was rather perturbed Hmm

cep · 19/10/2010 11:19

hello sarahmumtobe (sorry missed you before) and hello mrswantstobeamum congratulations to you both.

Only at maternity wear. mine haven't even gotten bigger, or at least not that i can tell from my angle their pretty big as it is. I think after ttc for the last several months my dh was rather relieved at having a break. :)

moomin156 · 19/10/2010 11:21

cep to me you should be on the lower deck as a youngster or maybe just sitting on the bottom step LOL.
I dont feel an old bird and i have to say people dont think i am my age which is a nice compliment and i usually say its because i havent got any kids so get my full nights beauty kip every night......wont have that excuse soon so maybe i will start looking my age.
Welcome mrswantstobeamom and congratulations. My Gp appointment was also very bizarre and very brief. Was given a form to send off for free prescriptions etc but havent done it yet.....should i, or wait til midwife appointment on friday??

moomin156 · 19/10/2010 11:24

My DH keeps saying "hope you get your mojo back soon" which makes me feel very guilty but i just do not feel like it at all......apparantly my boobs are "looking good" at the minute which is frustrating him even more LOL

moomin156 · 19/10/2010 11:26

nursesunshine my DH POAS to check they werent duds after 5 positives for me.......( cheep internet ones) and thankfully he wasnt pg LOL

NurseSunshine · 19/10/2010 11:31

Eeek what's PAOS? And also AF?

I know I feel guilty too but I am just SOOOO TIIIIRED even if I had the inclination I wouldn't have the energy. Apparently it all gets better in the 2nd trimester though so just tell him to hang on for that :)

NurseSunshine · 19/10/2010 11:32

PS, glad your DH wasn't og as well moomin!

moomin156 · 19/10/2010 11:36

Thanks for the warm welcome and congratulations to you all as well!

I'm enjoying reading through your posts, especially those regarding when/who to tell. So far, we've only told my parents and sisters, who live in the States. I wanted to tell MIL and step-FIL the other night, but DH's siblings and their partners were there. One set had just returned from their honeymoon, and the other had just gotten engaged. We didn't want to steal their thunder, and it would have been so obvious if I wasn't drinking, so we had a subtle ruse going on with me taking a small glass of wine, pretending to sip, and discreetly switching with DH once he had finished his. It seems to have worked! I've heard that claiming to be on antibiotics is a dead giveaway. Planning to tell other immediate family over the next few weeks, then a few close friends, and no one else until after the scan.

Sarahmumtobe · 19/10/2010 11:47

Thanks for the welcome everyone! Nursesunshine I feel the same- not had any nausea or vomiting yet but almost want to to feel more pregnant. I do need to wee all the time too, have waves of exhaustion and very sore boobs!

I told work two weeks ago and found out that one of my colleagues is pregnant and just had her 12 week scan- the pictures are great-can't wait for the next 6 weeks to pass!

DeadBodyofKaraStarbuckThrace · 19/10/2010 12:44

Welcome to all the newbies Smile

Cep - I am a similar position to you. I am nearly 5 stone overweight and very worried.
My friend (I think I mentioned on here she had been admitted to hospital at 34 weeks with high BP) was also similarly overweight at the start of her pg. What I am really worried about is having to be admitted to hospital, because then DH will have to take time off work to look after DS - and we can't really afford that.

I guess we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

I do have a very sedentary job, and I need to get out more an exercise more! And eat less - I also have a very unhealthy relationship with food.

8rubberduckies · 19/10/2010 13:09

Hello all - can I join you? Just found out I was pg yesterday, am 4 or 5 weeks so due mid to late June sometime [waves to everyone from the June bus]. I have been trying for a few months now, and did rather an over-the-top four tests yesterday!

I already have a 2.3 year old ds, and am very excited about being pg again! I have PCOS, so each baby feels extra precious to us, we are very lucky Grin. I know there is a higher risk of mc with PCOS though, and suffered from 2 serious bouts of bleeding in the first trimester of my last pg (unexplained bleeding first time, because of a low lying placenta second time), so know I am going to be ultra-paranoid over the next few weeks!

Went to doctors this morning as I have been taking Metformin and wanted to know if I need to keep taking it now and she said no (thank God, it makes me really sick). We have already told my Mum and MIL, but will be keeping schtum for a while yet with everyone else.

NurseSunshine · 19/10/2010 13:12

Thanks for the link Moomin.
mrswants damn antibiotics was going to be my excuse - for the next 5 weeks! I can only imagine what people would think I had that took that long to clear up Confused I don't know what I'm going to tell poeple, especially as I smoked before as well.

TumTumGnu · 19/10/2010 13:16

Hello everyone.

Just come on today to feel sorry for myself. Had brown spotting yesterday afernoon and then just when I thought that had stopped I've had some more and some proper red blood spotting this morning. Also some periodish aching.

Trying really hard not to get in a panic about it. I took my temps this morning and they were still good and high so hopefully it's all ok but I am fearing the worst of course.Sad

I have my midwife appointment tomorrow morning so I'll talk to them about it then and see if they'll put my through for an early scan just to check it's ok.

Deep breaths and recite 'whatever will be will be'...
