have you looked on any of the online fitness websites cep? I know www.myfitnesspal.com has a thread/group for pregnant ladies & I'm pretty sure slimming world is approved for use in pregnancy as long as the midwife is OK with it. I think its sensible to get advice now at this stage of your pregnancy, I hope it goes well for you good luck!

BarbieLovesKen · 18/10/2010 21:55

Think thats really good advice Minione

Sorry guys, one more think and I really am going..

As I said vomiting has eased off both today and yesterday but was very sick for few days before that. Am really worried as I know Im throwing back up my folic acid tablets and as we didnt expect to get pregnant so soon (literally only dtd once) I hadnt been taking them for the 14 weeks beforehand either. Did someone say that there is folic acid in egg yolk? (or did I dream that up)as I eat too many eggs so if its true, that would be great.

and sorry (tmi) but is there anything I can do for serious constipation? Blush

Being honest Minione i'm 6 stone overweight. (i don't want to lose all that during pregnancy :) ) i'm a stone heavier than i was when i got pregnant with #1 i gained about 3.5-4 stone with him cause i just used it as an excuse to eat.

I'm doing slimming world which is healthy eating, i've got to get the mw's approval before carrying on with it officially. i lost a stone in the few months doing the diet before falling pregnant but had hoped to lose a bit more before conceiving. I'd be happy losing the stone and preferably a little more as i had problems with being allowed at the midwife unit last time. I am going to be very restricted as to where i can go for maternity wear though, although just looked at next and they go up to my size in most things, and not all of it is horrendously expensive.

moomin156 · 18/10/2010 21:59

Increase your water intake, increase fruit and fibre, try prune juice.......exercise where you can even if its just walking. Glycerine suppositries as a last resort. I have seen on previous threads that lactulose is safe......

mrsbigw · 18/10/2010 22:03

Hi balletpink & welcome!

cep · 18/10/2010 22:07

will have a look mrsbigw, thanks.

I'll chat with my mw tomorrow.

My dh already thinks i'm talking to much about the pregnancy.

my battery about to die, thank you everyone.

BarbieLovesKen · 18/10/2010 22:10

cep I completely understand where your coming from (particulary your using pregnancy as an excuse to eat). I am the worst ever to gain weight during pregnancy. I have a very unhealthy relationship with food in general, although Im not sure if my giving up smoking when pregnant causes me to gain loads too (as I replaced the cigarettes with food).

With dd I think I gained about 4 (possibly 4.5 stone) and with ds I gained 4 stoned (2 weeks after Id given birth - was exactly 6.5 stone heavier the day I gave birth - still pregnant).

After dd, I was about 3 stone over weight when I became pregnant. I lost 7 stone in 10 months with weight watchers and minimins. Was a size 10. I promised myself that I wouldnt do the same when pregnant with ds but I honestly couldnt help eating loads of carbs etc and threw on the weight.

I did get onto it immediately after having ds though, and lost all but a stone in about 5 months. So roughly a 12-14ish. Am so annoyed I didnt loose that last stone as here I am again, weighed myself and am already up a massive 7lbs....at 7+5 weeks pregnant, despite constant vomiting. Cant understand it. Am fed up but have resigned myself to the fact that this must just be the way my body does pregnant. Hmm

GP gave me slight telling off at 17 weeks pregnant with ds last year, as I had already gained about 1.5 stone at that stage Blush am really worried Im going to get it again when honestly, for all my trying I cannot help it during pregnancy. I really, really admire you for keeping an eye on things/ managing a diet when pregnant. It is hard.

CEP - I hope your midwife is able to give you some advice and that you can continue with slimming world. Look after yourself x

I often have constipation, I find that Lactulose, prune juice and cutting down on bread helps! Good luck!!

sasamaxx · 18/10/2010 23:06

Congrats nursesunshine evs34 balletpink and cherry and welcome.

I agree about the stats - it's a good idea to just leave it until after scans Smile

petitech - that sounds really positive - sorry you're feeling so bad though Sad

Awww cep - sorry you feel so down about it. Definitely spk to your midwife to see what she says. You know, no matter what happens in the pregnancy, I bet you will lose all the babyweight and a lot more afterwards - babies and toddlers really keep you on your toes Smile

barbielovesken - DD fell asleep on the chair this afternoon so I lay on the couch with DS, stuck on scooby doo and dropped off IMMEDIATELY. Had a half hour power-nap, woke up and the nausea took 45 mins to come back Shock
I gained 2 stone by 20 wks with DS - I also gain a lot of weight in pregnancy.

Well - can I just suggest that those with constipation work really really hard at keeping stools soft because I now have a pile Blush. It is REALLY uncomfortable and driving me mad. I'm going to drink loads of water, eat prunes and apricots etc and take lactulose if needed. I also got cream from the docs today. I know when it popped out as well - I was straining too hard and practically felt it happening - sorry TMI!

I'm starting to get my typical pregnancy symptom of dandruff too - lovely Grin

When do we bloom again????

wonnaywombat · 19/10/2010 07:20

Welcome to evs34, balletpink and cherry and congrats!

I have first scan tomorrow (I think I'm 7+3)and keep worrying that they're not going to find anything even though symptoms seem strong-ish (sore boobs, spots, but no morning sickness) and no bleeding so far. I think after last mc I've turned into a real "anxious annie". Having said that I keep having conversations in my head about how I'm going to break the news to various people.... good grief, I'm all over the place!! Confused

wonnaywombat · 19/10/2010 07:22

Thinking of you cep and can only think to repeat what others have said re: getting some professional advice and keeping in mind our hormones are so all over the shop that it's hard to think clearly.

wonnaywombat · 19/10/2010 07:22

P.S. Good morning everyone! x

morning everyone, sorry about last night, feeling a bit better today, will speak to mw today and have an appointment with a dietician soon, which will now be overun with baby diet talk.

Thank you all for the advice and support.
Thanks minione i certainly plan to, hopefully the mw will support me on it.

Barbie - That's part of what worries me, how much am i going to put on when i'm already huge. i'm on minimins as well and keep managing to kill those threads. :)

welcome all newbies and congratulations

hope everyone has a great day.

yellowtomato · 19/10/2010 08:54

Morning everyone welcome supersunnyday and congratulations. I am on my first as well just 5+3 after 2 years of trying and 1 mmc.

I think that there are a number of us that are all over the place. I go from optimism and imagining telling people to despair about whether it will work out and maybe it's all in my head.

I feel for those of you feeling sick but at the same time have to admit that I would like a symptom or two....I have been having acupuncture so maybe that is keeping it at bay?

In other news the prunes and extra water are working a bit too well! Blush hopefully things will calm down a bit now.

How is everyone else today?

wonnaywombat · 19/10/2010 09:00

welcome and congrats supersunnyday! - what a fab name. I do hope the next 4 weeks pass as quickly and stress-free as possible for you (and the rest of us too come to that!)

cep - glad to hear you're feeling a bit better today - it's amazing what a night's sleep can do.

wonnaywombat · 19/10/2010 09:02

yellowtom - good to know re: the prunes - will try that next!

mrsbigw · 19/10/2010 09:15

Good morning ladies!

Welcome to supersunnyday, evs34 & cherry, glad you came to join us.

sasamax I feel for you I so hope I dont get the dreaded bum grapes this time around :(. They really are unbearable, I hope yours get better soon.

I am recovering from putting the bins out this morning- I can't stand the smell of bins at the best of times but at the moment I am really 'off' any food related smells. the fridge absolutely knocks me sick & its quite a clean fridge too but then again the smell of my dried food cupboard is dreadfull too. I think I just can't stand almost any smell at the moment, especially anything remotely spicy. DP tried to kiss me after he had been eating spicy fries at the weekend & I felt like I was being poisoned...OK thats an exaggeration but he may have to sleep on sofa if he eats anything like that again in foreseeable future haha.

One thing that did smell good this morning was the burnt toast at DS3's breakfast club...in fact that smelt so good I have burnt myself 2 teacakes for breakfast this morning :)

Is anyone else having issues with a heightened sense of smell or is it just my nose lol?

Sarahmumtobe · 19/10/2010 09:26

Hi everyone, congratulations to you all. I am a 29 year old first timer and found myself with a positive test after 3 months of trying. I am due June 13th 2011 and am 6 weeks and 2 days. I have had an appointment with the doctor but I am counting down the days to the 12 week scan and crossing my fingers that nothing will go wrong in the meanwhile!

wonnaywombat · 19/10/2010 10:14

congrats and a big welcome sarahmumtobe. I think you are on the "young bus" for this thread which is a good thing as it seemed the June bus was chokka with us old birds for a while!

Minione · 19/10/2010 10:27

Ooh, I'm 31 am I considered young! Please, pretty please?

When I was pregnant with Malachy I felt positively ancient when I went for my hospital appointments. I would actually sit there looking for people who I thought were older than me. There was usually one!!

moomin156 · 19/10/2010 10:29

Morning everyone....well im still tucked up in bed but its not 'bean' related, think i have the bug that has been going round work. Have had about 18hrs sleep in the past 24hrs.

yellowtomato i have the same problem as you and have since day 1, i think its the fruit juices i have been drinking instead of coffee and wine.

cep glad you feel a bit better today*
sarah welcome to the group, i am also on my first but i am at the top of the bus and probably towards the back too......at 38 ( 39 in Jan)

Welcome to anyone else i have missed saying hello to, there is so many of us that i am losing track.

petitech hope things are still good today

CuppaMouldyBatBallsBrothJanice · 19/10/2010 10:29

Morning all and welcome to all the newcomers!

supersunnyday (and a few others) it's wonderful to hear you got a BFP after so many months of trying. It must be an emotional rollercoaster each month, waiting for AF and hoping she doesn't appear, so it's lovely to hear that you've made a bean and I hope your good fortune continues through your pregnancies.

Barbie I think you answered your own question about the constipation! Have you heard the phrase 'egg bound'? I don't know how many eggs you eat but maybe it would be an idea to cut down - lots of other foods contain folic acid.

mrsbigw I'm with you on the sense of smell. Especially poo smells. I'm leaving the cat litter duties to DP as we're not supposed to do it while pregnant (good excuse) and he doesn't do it as often as I did. Sometimes I can smell cat cronk throughout the house - I just hope any visitors can't smell it too!!

moomin156 · 19/10/2010 10:31

minione you are just a baby yourself......there is a lot of us who appear to be 35 or over in this group. When i went to the GP he said we weren't old for first timers around here so thats positive news.....im 38 and DH is 42

moomin156 · 19/10/2010 10:36

Reading how long some people were ttc i feel very lucky and honoured that we were fortunate so quickly. I cant imagine how it must feel every month, it must really get to you. Thankfully you all have BFP's now and fingers crossed our dreams will come true.
I never thought i would be a mom, not through ttc but by not finding the right man. I was with my Ex for 9 years and he kept making up excuses and in the end i had to leave and that was May 2009 and look at me now.....married and with a BFP :)
