i already told mine. I thought i'd better incase i started getting morning sickness and having to call in at least he'd be forewarned.

mrsbigw · 18/10/2010 18:02

Petitech see if you can find a pregnancy trained accupuncturist or reflexologist in your area, I had reflexology on saturday & have definately felt an improvement in the nausea yesterday & today.

hello to all the new joiners & congratulations!

petitech · 18/10/2010 18:05

Don't get me wrong, it will be an effort for me to practise what I preach :)
Clarkiee enjoy those lack of symptoms, I have seriously felt like today has been the equivalent of suffering the worst hangover from hell, without the preceding night of fun! DH making sausage and mash for tea, hopefully that'll sort me out :-)

petitech · 18/10/2010 18:08

Great tip mrsbigw will see what I can find!and cep I told my boss too as we have consultants in this week and I'm afraid I might barf on their shoes... at least if he knows he can remove from the meeting in adequate time hehe

cep · 18/10/2010 18:11

Grin good thinking petitech, unfortunately i work on phones so i could end up leaving a customer hanging as it were. We get sworn at as it is without leaving half way through the conversation. :)

petitech · 18/10/2010 18:14

Barfing down the phone might sort them out!!! I work in Customer Relations too and there are certainly some customers I'd like to flush down the loo :-)

cep · 18/10/2010 18:18

i dream of the day i can actually tell them what i really think. Not all of them but as you say there are certainly some i can think of a few things to say to. :) I just hope that my pregnancy hormones don't get the better of me. :)

moomin156 · 18/10/2010 18:37

petitech · 18/10/2010 18:56

evs34 · 18/10/2010 19:31

Hi, could i join you please. have been watching for 3 weeks - now just over 7 weeks - have been too worried to join before now! we already have a little girl - 18mths. mixed emotions about this pregnancy which is scary - just worried how it will effect our lovely little family unit.
feeling v v tired and a bit sick but ok otherwise. we are paying to have a scan done on thurs - hope that everything is ok. lots of friends have had miscarriages/ failed ivf and a loss at 38 weeks!! on pins to say the least!!

moomin156 · 18/10/2010 19:58

welcome evs34 and congratulations......i guess we all know people who have been through difficulties that adds to our worries, but you have a a DD a;ready so fingers crossed all will be ok

ajmac24 · 18/10/2010 20:04

moonim156 - I'm exactly the same as you. 6+2 and just getting sore boobs now and again. Sort of want some more symptoms to make it all a bit more real.

moomin156 · 18/10/2010 20:14

ajmac im trying not to wish that as we may regret it.....especially reading the posts from those that are really suffering, but i do know what you mean. I have my first mw appointment on friday what about you?

ajmac24 · 18/10/2010 20:17

moomin156 First stop docs on wednesday, then I guess midwife sometime after that. Really have no idea what to expect!

cep · 18/10/2010 20:28

i think you can have hot water bottle but not recommended on tummy. Not sure if that's at this stage or later.

cep · 18/10/2010 21:33

Not sure if this is the place to discuss this or not, i also seem to have a habit of killing threads. So appologies in advance, I feel really low tonight about my weight and size, (pre-pregnancy) I know a few have mentioned on here their views on losing weight while pregnant, but have just been looking online at maternity wear in affordable shops (mothercare and newlook) and they don't go up to my size. Have been looking as well to advice on line about losing weight whilst pregnant and mostly it talks about eating healthily and as long as you don't deprive the baby of nutrients it won't halm it.

It sounds selfish saying i want to lose weight but being so overweight is bad for the baby as well. Doesn't bother me looking baby big but just don't want to look fat big instead.

Anyway sorry about that just needed to get it off my chest and can't talk to dh about it, and worried what midwife is going to say tomorrow, have my hopes pinned on giving birth at the midwife unit but don't think they'll let me due to my size. sorry again (thuds away in embarrassment.)

BarbieLovesKen · 18/10/2010 21:41

Hi all and a huge welcome to all the newbies (and congratulations!) am finding it so hard to keep up with this thread - it is flying it, so please forgive me for not replying to posts individually (but I have enjoyed reading all).

The usual self obsessed, self indulgent post here Wink still havent received scan date. Am so tired its unbelievable. Im taking daily naps now (when possible with two dcs) which is really unlike me, even with my other pregnancies. Am missing so much college - keep skipping classes/ leaving early, Im just not able for it. Two assignments due in the next few weeks so really may get the head down. Thank God Im still not back in work.

Still sick, although actual vomiting is really easing - more like constant nausea now. Have visitors (5) coming from the UK to stay with us for a week next week and Im really worried about hosting when Im like this!!.

Anyone else eating constantly? I will be size of small country at the end of this. Its the only thing that stops the nausea, but I have to be actually chewing to stop it so am - pretty much constantly.

Petitech Really feeling for you. Things do definately look good, especially since heartbeat but the limbo feeling is completely understandable. Any news from star anyone?

Ooh and meant to add, we have told my mum but only as she lives right next door and we are really, really close, shes ridiculously close to dd and ds too. Thought it was sensible because I've been so ill this time - knew she'd worry there was something wrong as I look like crap plus shes been brilliant help with the kids when I've needed to spend a few hours with my head down the loo.

My dad is dead and we havent told DH's parents, which probably seems a little mean but we really are trying to tell as few as possible until after 12 weeks plus, I remember BIL told MIL his girlfriend was pregnant when she was 4 weeks and MIL often commented that she wished she didnt know so early as it seemed to be the longest pregnancy ever..

7+5 today, so 8 weeks on Wednesday. Might start to very slightly relax after that wee "milestone" as MC was at 8 weeks. Why do we do that? it doesnt really make any sense..

Hi Cep, I don't think you sound selfish at all. Although I'm not really overweight I am a lot bigger than i was before I was pregnant with Malachy. I have lost a fair bit since giving birth and I am continuing with my sensible eating regime for as long as possible. I put at least 2 stone on in my last pregnancy, a lot of it was fluid as I had polyhydromious (that's definitely spelt wrong!) but I did eat a lot too.

In an ideal world I would have liked to have lost more weight before getting pregnant but I'm not getting any younger and felt ready after losing Malachy. I guess what you need to do is eat sensibly and aim to put minimal weight on (particularly in the first trimester. How much weight do you actually need to lose? If you can cut out unhealthy food and replace with healthy you're not really dieting as such.

cep i can understand you wanting to lose weight but i think your priority has to be your baby. What ever you decide to do then you need to ensure that it is done carefully and monitored by a professional ie a dietician at the GP / hospital rather than a slimming club. These will ensure that you and your baby get the right calories nd nutrients required.
Why cant you talk to your dh about this. He loves you and will support you. Remember your hormones at the minute will also be making you feel emotional and low which may be contributing to how you are feeling. Try to keep positive
