Congratulations hannah welcome to the world Rory!

pacita · 13/01/2011 23:22

How lovely Hannah! Many congratulations. Not long to go for me now!

kiwijesta · 14/01/2011 00:23

Cograts Hannah, lovely name.
I was just thinking how suddenly someone goes quiet now, it usually means another baby is on the way.
Got signed off by my MW today, she thinks DD may be tongue tied which might explain why feeding is a bit sore on one side. Went to see a BF group and that sort of helped and going to see a NHS group next week so another MW can check tongue, meanwhile I'm using a nipple shield on the sore side. Now all I have to do is convince her to sleep in her Moses basket instead of with me! Still loving it though!
Good luck to those coming!

sarrita · 14/01/2011 09:15

Well done Hannah; welcome Rory!

Welcome to the club all new Mums and I hope that we manage to continue this thread with our new bundles.

Good luck all those with deliveries still to come.

kiwi we have a hammock for our DD - a pass on from my sister. I found that this is a good alternative if they don't sleep in a moses or cot (my DS didn't and DD loves it).

Been having trouble with DD's weight. This last 10 days her gain has been poor and she would only latch on for about 10mins and then conk out.

I have had 4 different midwives come and visit. So when the first one who came, came yesterday - day 10 when we are supposed to be handed over to the health visitor - she noticed that her jaundice had deepened. Rather annoying as it would have helped if we had known as apparently that makes them more sleepy. I am knackered from doing feeds every 2 hrs. But she gained 140g in last 48hrs and has started doing normal poos at last.

My DS was a milk guzzler and only ever got bigger. It is funny how they are all different!

splodge77 · 14/01/2011 10:30

congrats Hannah!

hi readyornot i'm 40+3, booked in for sweep on tues and encouraged to hear that it wasn't painful for you. here's hoping!

No sign that my little one wants to come out any time soon either. am trying to go for lots of walks but its getting increasingly uncomfy!

best of luck!

mamasunshine · 14/01/2011 16:30

Congratulations hannah very cute name Smile

My internet has been down since I last posted. 39+4 here and have been having all the pre-labour signs for at least 3 wks, tired of it now! Lots of strong braxton hick's, period pains, back ache etc etc etc. Spent 5 days over last week having sex Confused, eating curries, having reflexology, etc. Obviously she'll come when she's good and ready Grin Have been resting as much as possible, and finished work completely at 39 wks so BP has come down a little. Consultant has said still happy for homebirth, but if BP diastolic hits 100 I need to obviously go into delivery unit at hospital. Her head is very well engaged and she's lying in a great position (phew...last labour was back to back, don't know whether it really makes a difference as I have nothing to compare yet!)

Have really enjoyed the last week making the most of spending quality time with the boys (both being v clingy with me now, having been daddy's boys for a while? Maybe they sense something?) Although youngest was up most of the night so I've hardly had any sleep, and the realisation remebering those sleep deprived months hit me Hmm...this time with 3 under 3 Shock

Planning to get out for a nice walk each day on the weekend, so hoping it's not going to rain all weekend.

Hope all is well with everyone? I will try and catch up properly at some point Blush

deedee321 · 14/01/2011 21:56

Good luck MamaSunshine.
Wondering how you are MacMomo. I have a suspected infection now, c section wound puffy and inflamed, feeling low about it. Midwife says will just need to wait and see what next few days bring...feeling full of dread, just want to enjoy my baby.

Jobi1 · 15/01/2011 13:34

Just a quickie! Congrats on arrivals and good luck to those imminent!

Re c sections, I have to say I'd forgotten how hard recovery was and won't be going through it a third time! I had to go into hospital the other day with sky high bp and now have a wound infection. Switched to bottle and on mega anti bs which I hope are working. No fun at all. But Nathan is gorgeous & content and I'm totally smitten. Even DS1 seems quite impressed!

crumblequeen · 15/01/2011 19:26

Hi everyone - I have been reading regularly but find it really difficult to post from my phone and the laptop dying is a death! 38 weeks here - c-section a week on Monday! Sorry to hear recovery a bit rocky for some of you - I am looking forward to DS birthday on 6 March as I am hoping that will be the point I am feeling well on the road to recovery from mine. I have been for the waxing today and final hair cut, and have been making food for the freezer to make sure DS is at least well fed when baby is here.

Congratulations to all the new mums and hope the babies all doing well. So lovely to see the news!

Hope anyone who is overdue doesn't have long to wait, I am sick of being pregnant already and could have had 4 weeks to go potentially if C-Section not booked. We are struggling with names still - thought we had a very short list but not in love with anything yet, just need to see what he looks like!

cotswolder · 15/01/2011 21:42

another update for the list.

Arrived 8th Jan 23.30 baby Sarah. gas and air to 5 cm when asked for epidural. Light epidural given and could still move legs and get up. Pushed her out in 20 mins. All fine now.

Only problem has been the breastfeeding which she didn't take to - fiddled and faffed around my breast. Don;t think midwives trying to shove my breast in her mouth helped. Now expressing and feeding by bottle - she is happy and putting on weight.

Really is love for us both!

Good luck to all.

sarrita · 15/01/2011 21:49

Cotswolder congratulations and welcome baby Sarah!

Lovely news. Well done.

LadyBuzz · 15/01/2011 23:59

cotswolder congratulations!

To the ladies with infection, my MW advised me to put a mat pad against my wound to keep it dry when it was weeping - It made a big difference for me - worth a try if nothing else. I did it from the start last time and it didn't get infected.

readyornot2011 · 16/01/2011 02:05

And another...
Rosalyn Lorelai arrived today after (in the grand scheme of things) a short and relatively straight forward labour.

Short story 1st baby, water birth in midwife led unit, 8lb 6oz (ouch, I'm pretty small) 5.5 hours established labour, gas & air - I realise I'm very lucky but it still hurt like hell and at this moment I never want to go through it again! But I'm sure I'll forget.

Long story: Woke at 5.45 with mild contractions ( been having BHs for weeks wondering how I'd know the difference, as everyone says, you'll just know) DH supposed to leave early for work, but by 6.45 contractions were already a minute long 4 mins apart and v regular so he called in to explain (SO releived he hadn't already left) I tried sitting in bath but panicked when I lay back and knees hurt on all fours so got out. DH called hosp and we were told to come in.

I was 3cm dilated but having fairly frequent contractions, we were given the option to go home but as we live some distance away and things seemed to be progressing faster than expected we stayed, by this time it must have been about 9am. By 11.45 the contractions were pretty unbearable and DH bless him asked if they had gas and air for me. I really felt it in my lower back. By 12.30 I was 7cm and m.w. Advised me to try the birthing pool. Contractions v painful by now and I was struggling, but v soon my waters broke, with a little meconium, I went into the transision phase and began to panic, it hurt like hell. Luckily that didn't last long and I soon got the urge to push. Each contraction, I tried to tell myself she was coming this time and according to my notes it took an hour and a half which I know isn't long but it was tough. I kept thinking, that must be it she must be there why don't you catch her, give her a tug, anything and the MW's were just sat there smiling at me telling me how much hair she had and telling me to have a feel! When she did come, I felt like I'd burst, there was so much of her, I was concentrating so hard on the head I'd forgotten there was a body & limbs to come too. She seemed huge, and alert and amazing and I was just so releived it was over! The water was suddenly red and black and filthy, I had a second degree tear to each side but nothing too bad, but it stung. She came out and produced more meconium, (3 more nappies of it since too, where it all coming from?)skin to skin in the pool but the water was so dirty and I was sore and keen to get placenta out and finished with.

Had the assisted 3rd stage, which was fine, really wanted it over an done with. 6 stitches which seemed to take forever and then I finally got a proper cuddle. So overall 9 hours from the first twinge to birth, 5.5 hours of proper established labour.

Im so happy to a mum and she is perfect and I'm also so happy I don't have another contraction coming any time soon.

Now in spires JR hospital Oxford, amazing place, staring at her and wondering how I'll ever sleep again. She is so good so far, a few tears at the vit K and a few at the equally distressing 1st attempt at a nappy change by me & DH, but otherwise good as gold. Even so daren't take my eyes off her long enough to sleep Confused Grin

readyornot2011 · 16/01/2011 02:07

Wow, sorry! Just read the short version

LadyBuzz · 16/01/2011 09:31

readyornot thats lovely Congratulations!

crumblequeen · 16/01/2011 12:47

Congratulations readyornot lovely news and name!

ladybuzz thanks for the tip on the wound - I will try that!

sarrita · 16/01/2011 13:34

Congratulations readyornot. Welcome Rosalyn.

Tip if you are distressed by your newborn's cries, and bit jumpy with nappy changes etc... Sing. Singing relaxes you. The baby knows your voice from being in your tummy, and the sound reassures her, and your will find that her cries don't seem so bad.

MacMomo · 16/01/2011 14:12

Congrats to Hannah, cotswolder and ready, what a busy few days!

I think my flu symptoms might have been mastitis, cleared up after about three days.

Have started a January post-natal thread in the post-natal forum area, sorry can't see how to do links from a phone - don't forget to join and keep an eye on both threads until all our babies are born.

MacMomo · 16/01/2011 14:19

Forgot to say - rosalyn, Sarah and Rory - fantastic names! I haven't met a baby called any of those names yet!

Found how to do the link postnatal group

Typing hard while bf!

mamasunshine · 16/01/2011 15:58

Still 'with' bump here, due date tomorrow! Can't believe how impatient I feel this time.

deedee and jobi1 - poor you, it's tough recovering from section, especially with infection. I had a bad time after my EMCS with ds1. Have you [been bathing in lavendar oil? If not do, every day Smile

crumblequeen - wk on Mon Grin woohoo a date, it must be so nice knowing exactly when it's going to happen. Also very nice you have ds bday to focus on through recovery Smile
cotswolder and readyornot - congratulations on your bundles of love Grin More gorgeous names!!

macmomo - thanks for doing a link to postnatal group Smile Haven't had mastitis, but well done for getting through it, supposed to be awful !

Well been for a long walk this morning, and more strong BH's, back pain and period pains etc, but nothing regular so we'll see. Soooo impatient, I don't know what's wrong with me?!! NOt due until tomorrw! Think it's prob all the sleepless nights due to pains already, which lead to nothing Confused Nice weekend at home with dh helping with boys, but beginning of new week tomorrow that I have to get through alone!

Full moon on Weds...you never know!

Hope all the new mummies and babies are being well looked after and enjoying their bundles. Do try and have a good nap EVERY day as it does catch up with you in a few weeks, even if you feel good now!

FunkyMonkey1983 · 16/01/2011 17:29

Another arrival here!

Eva Marie arrived on Monday 10/01/11, 8lb 10.5oz

I was induced in the morning and labour progressed pretty fast so I got in the pool with gas and air. The contractions were intense so I asked for more drugs, but when they got me out the pool to check how dilated I was, they told me I was 9cm and should probably keep going without it.

An hour and a half of pushing and I was getting nowhere so they brought in the doctor who realised my baby was facing sideways and I wasn't going to push her out myself. It suddenly got a bit scary as the room filled with people, machines were getting fired up and they told me they had to get her out quick as her heartrate was dropping. I was hooked up to a drip to ramp up my contractions, got an episiotomy and the doctor used a ventouse to turn her and get her out.

She is totally perfect and despite the scary end and 15 stitches (ouch) I view the birth experience as positive!

wintersniffle · 16/01/2011 21:18

DS2 arrived 14/1, 9lb 4 oz, still nameless poor little chap!

We got our homebirth but due to a load of cock-ups have been to hospital and back 3 times when we're both perfectly healthy and never needed to be there. Looking forward to catching up properly soon, so many other new arrivals Smile.

pacita · 16/01/2011 22:45

Many, many congratulations to all of you! Babies coming on steadily now. I am really impatient and really uncomfortable and tired, and really looking forward to joining you in the post-natal thread. I am due on Tuesday, but could go into labour NOW!

If anybody has any additional eviction tactics, please share (pineapple, curry, walks, shag, raspberry leaf tea... Anything else?)

Good night to all ladies, bumps and LOs

mamasunshine · 16/01/2011 22:46
