MacMomo · 04/01/2011 19:51

sarrita congratulations! Love the name, too. Sounds like you followed your plan despite unavoidable challenges, well done on that, you must be very pleased to have managed it.

LadyBuzz · 04/01/2011 21:40

sarrita congratulations, lovely name!

kiwijesta · 04/01/2011 23:04

Congrats Sarrita looks like full steam ahead for Jan babies now!

Eilidh Margaret arrived at 2.21pm weighing 7lb8oz. So far so good for both of us, am totally besotted!

Ps it's pronounced Ailee and is Scottish

MacMomo · 05/01/2011 01:36

kiwi love the name, dh is Scottish and wanted it but we have long and complicated surname (Mac lots and lots) and decided against as she would spend her life spelling surname so a simpler first name was required. It's such a pretty name!

Now deciding between:
Miranda (dh's favourite but a bit of a mouthful combined with surname of 4 syllables)
Tamsyn (my family are cornish)
Lauren (everyone can spell it! And its not too long).

Never thought naming a baby would be so hard! Would be easier to change our surname...

Are we going to start a jan/feb post-natal group so we can stick together a bit longer?

LadyBuzz · 05/01/2011 08:32

kiwi congratulations what a beutiful name.

macmomo I agree naming is a really hard thing to do! Hope you decide on one soon!

Hannah1890 · 05/01/2011 12:13

Congratulations Kiwi, sarrita and beijingaling so lovely to hear of all the new babies arriving now!! Still waiting here, my original due date (before scan) would have been today, so getting very excited now and everytime have any little pain I start to wonder. :o

cotswolder · 05/01/2011 15:54

Congrats to all. We have induction organised (39 weeks) for 9am tomorrow due to raised high blood pressure today. Yikes - all happened a bit quick! We should be joining the ranks by the weekend if all goes ok. My waterbirth is out however. Boooooo.

WalkTheDog · 05/01/2011 16:00

kiwi a very very good name choice!

At least you've got it down to three nmaes macmomo. Don't worry I was "baby" pretty much until registration D day!

Me to Hannah :)

Saw MW and wahey baby is now just into pelvis, can no longer be wiggled, not engaged and still unsure if baby's head is too big for my pelvis. Consultant appt next week if still no baby arrival

sarrita · 05/01/2011 16:18

Well done Kiwi. Lovely name.

Yes deedee it's a girl - so we have the "million dollar" family. Such a lovely surprise. I only got a sense of her as I was in labour - that she would be a girl.

When she came out I first thought - "wow - she is so big how did she fit in me". Then I thought "and I will have to worry about her going through all this one day".

Women are amazing! Stick to your guns. Macmomo I did get the birth I wanted but it was a battle and had none of the bells and whistles that I had with my first.

Good luck Hannah and walkthedog

Jobi1 · 05/01/2011 17:39

Congratulations on all the arrivals!! lots of lovely names and differing birth stories.

Nathan is one week old today and we managed our first short walk with DS1 on buggy board and DH pushing them both. I think it will be a while before I can manage that. I am recovering from section quite well I think, but still in some pain and got various issues like water infection. But I will never go through it again and am delighted with my 2 boys, so now I can concentrate on them and on getting me back to normal.

Good luck to all those getting ready to pop!

pacita · 05/01/2011 21:21

Many congratulations on all the new babies. All lovely names!

I have been feeling utterly crap, completely devoid of energy, sleeping all day on and off, with a horrid cough, constant nausea and rather a lot of vomiting. Went to the gp yesterday who said it's a virus, and there is nothing he can do for me. :(

I am just a wee bit concerned that if I go into labour any time soon, I won't have the strength! I am due on the 18th, so hopefully baby girl will wait, and I'll get to recover.

Happy new year to all mums, bumps and babies.

deedee321 · 06/01/2011 09:02

Been up all night! Waters broke at midnight, went into hosp to be checked then home. Contractions started at 6, were every 5 mins for a while but now tailed off to 20 mins apart. Not slept at all in 2 nights, how will I get through labour??

WalkTheDog · 06/01/2011 10:25

oh good luck deedee, try and catch some sleep if you can

feel better soon pacita

weather watching incase we need to decamp to OH's folks overnight, ?snow coming and at night we have a pretty dodgy single track road to drive on if it's been heavy snow or bad ice.

Hannah1890 · 06/01/2011 10:51

Oh no Pacita hope your feeling better soon!!

Good Luck deedee how exciting! hopefully not long now!!

LadyBuzz · 06/01/2011 11:57

Good Luck deedee

pacita hope you feel better soon.

sarrita · 06/01/2011 12:25

deedee I did 2.5 days with first and nothing to eat or drink for the last 24 hrs, and no sleep. I had a natural birth on gas & air.

You have done it before; YOU CAN DO IT AGAIN!

Get bouncing on that ball and swivel those hips. You are AMAZING and you will meet your baby very soon.

Pacita you will be fine; women are capable of incredible things.

mummychicken · 06/01/2011 19:29

It is amazing how quickly the memories of labour fade when you see your LO!!

Libby is doing amazingly well, she only woke once last night for a feed and stayed asleep til 7.30am Grin

Come on girls - as Sarrita says, get on those birthing balls!!

OP posts:
wintersniffle · 06/01/2011 21:36

pacita rubbish feeling like that but hopefully you will have plenty of time to recover before anything happens.

deedee that is exciting but try to get some rest, if it's not already too late! Smile

walkthedog I really want the weather to improve a bit now (and I have a feeling we haven't had it as bad as you have). If there's ever a next time I will be aiming for a summer baby.

mummychicken very Envy that you already have your baby and that she's sleeping so well. Not going to be doing too much bouncing on the birthing ball until this cold gets a bit better though.

readyornot2011 · 07/01/2011 09:45

Well done to all those ladies who have had their babies. Its lovely to hear your stories and encouraging to know what to look out for when the time comes.

Well today is my due date and despite the hospital midwifes predictions that I would be back sooner rather than later (at my 36week appt!) no sign as yet.

Having moved house, managed Christmas at both ends of the country and got DH off to his new career, all in the last month, I am appreciating the rest before the little one arrives. But my poor Mum has been staying all week and nothings happened.

Can't help but notice there are a lot of girls amongst our brood, mine will be another, maybe its true what they say about boys being slower off the mark birth wise.

WalkTheDog · 07/01/2011 10:10

readyornot sounds like baby knew to stay inside until you had got through your busy few weeks.

wintersniffle we've been not too bad with weather, not great but compared to where we used to live it's been a breeze! I said the same thing that if we ever have another baby make sure it isn't due in the middle of winter!

Today is my due date and like readyornot MW was predicting back at about 34weeks that I would probably go early - pains etc at that time. Poor OH is getting stressed, mainly as he goes back to work on Monday and worried about leaving me through the day. He has said he doesn't mind how many times baby wakes him up, just wants healthy me and baby back home - will remind him of that when he has been woken up for the fifth time!

Hannah1890 · 07/01/2011 11:25

Not due till Sunday here but like Readyornot and walkthedog was told baby would likely come early, crazy how up until 37 weeks I was just praying he'd stay in and now I cant wait!!

Anyone else started getting the daily phonecalls of family and friends? My Grandad phoned yesterday and just said "Well... Any news?" as if I was just going to reply and say yes actually I had the baby 3 days ago but forgot to tell you!! I know they're just excited too but may have to stop answering my phone and change my answer machine to no im not having the baby...

Very jealous of everyone who is already having cuddles and sleepless nights Wink DH and I have organised a night out tonight as our last date night before LO arrives, v exciting (a little part of me still hoping the awkwardness of it all makes baby decide to come out tonight aswell :) ) Although were having a boy readyornot so if the boys being lazier thing is true then Im not holding out much hope.

FunkyMonkey1983 · 07/01/2011 14:54

I'm now 11 days overdue and looking likely that I will have to be induced on Monday which I was hoping to avoid.

I've had two sweeps, I'm 1-2cm dilated and baby's head is engaged but it looks like the wee one doesn't want to come out!

I've tried everything to get the labour going but none of it is having any effect and the constant phone calls asking "any news?" are driving me up the wall.

At the moment I'm wiggling around on my yoga ball which is bringing on the usual braxton hicks, fingers crossed that for once they actually progress to regular contractions.

pacita · 07/01/2011 16:10

Whoa, funkyMonkey, that is long! On the positive side, the baby will be beautifully cooked and ready, but you must be losing your patience!

I am feeling a bit better, seem to cough less, and have a bit more energy. Still feel like a total whimp though. Is anyone else dragging their feet and feeling knackered? I also seem to sleep loads during the day, which I wasn't able to do before.

I am due on the 18th, but parents coming on the 15th to look after DS when I eventually go into labour. A part of me wants to just wait, but another part wants to get on with it and have the baby!

wintersniffle · 07/01/2011 19:12

I haven't even got to my due date and we're having those phone calls too - I missed out on this stage last time by unexpectedly being 2 weeks early so it's my first experience of it. Every time I phone DP at work or my Mum the first question is 'are you in labour?' and DP asks every time I get up to go to the loo in the night (so about 10 times)! If I go overdue I might have to resort to the answerphone message...

deedee321 · 08/01/2011 04:35

Oh my god, my baby is so beautiful!! Our perfect little boy Louie was born at 7.30pm yesterday after horrendous labour - I managed 18 hours of contractions just with breathing until waters broke again and sack of membranes came out my body - thought baby was going to be born in loo! Mad panicky dash to hosp - after a while begged for epidural as couldn't get on with gas and air. 6-7cm at that point. 7 hours later no progress, baby in distress, emergency c-section which I vomited through with shock...and here he is!
He is so cute - dark spiky hair, tiny ears, lovely mouth - and 9 lbs 1! His head was too big to fit in my pelvis which is why progress stopped. Currently having morphine, tea and sandwiches - still starving and scar is aching. Let's all sympathise with each other, c-sec mums!! But blissed out with my gorgeous baby boy :) :) :)
