LadyBuzz · 08/01/2011 09:06

oh deedee sounds like you had a scary time but congratulations on your baby boy!

Wishing you a very speedy recovery - the beautiful baby helps of course Smile

WalkTheDog · 08/01/2011 11:36

deedee congrats on your wee (or not so wee) boy. Sending you a speedy recovery. Have worries that my labour might follow the same pattern as yours.

come on funkymonkey's baby!

I'm online to do some research on inductions so can be prepared if LO not arrived by time see consultant next week to discuss options.

kiwijesta · 08/01/2011 16:50

Well done deedee So pleased for you!
I was starving after my section too, when the nurse came to fetch me from recovery, asked me how I feel, I don't think she was expecting me to say hungry, hehe

Got discharged after 2 nights, doing well at home and enjoying getting (a little) more sleep. The BFing is going ok I think, nipples quite sore tho, but I guess thats just to be expected they've not done this before. I keep asking people to check the latch and so far so good, although now my milk has come in I think things may change

Good luck to all those on the go!

mamasunshine · 08/01/2011 21:09

Huge Congratulations to all the mummy's and new babies Grin How scrummy Smile Sorry, still haven't had chance to 'chat', have been sooooo busy, but have been checking in most days! 38+5 here, lots of pre-labour signs etc...just waiting for it all to start. Hopefully sooner rather than later as blood pressure has shot up again. Was really looking forward to another homebirth, and have the kit etc here, just hope my blood pressure doesn't ruin it for us! So hot curries, bouncing on my ball, sex and raspberry leaf tea all around in my house Grin Had reflexology today too, and again on Tues if nothing happening by then. Hoping she'll come and if I stay in the bath to labout BP won't go any higher Hmm Midwife coming to check it in the morning.

Hope you're all doing well? Definitely a good idea to set up a postnatal thread for when we've all had our LO's!

DancingCat · 09/01/2011 09:02

Hello ladies, haven't posted for a while but have been checking in regularly - congratulations to everyone who has already met their little ones Smile

I am 38 weeks today and have an ELCS booked for Friday 14th - getting nervous about it now but think its the safest way to get my little boy out for both me and him so hope he stays put for the time being. All the docs etc think its amazing he's stayed where he is this long, they were expecting him to make an appearance any time from about 30 weeks as pre-term is common with my condition. He's very active, his growth seems good and fingers crossed everything will go well on Friday.

Hope everyone else is doing well, good luck Smile

sarrita · 09/01/2011 13:33

Wow deedee what a story. So pleased that it is finally over and you have your beautiful Louis. Hope you're not too sore (morphine doing the trick) and have managed to get some good food in you.

Okay - here's another one to try to help bring on the baby.

Get some Clary Sage essential oil, mix it with some E45 and rub it in your belly. My friend gave me her bottle after the fastest labour ever - and she started rubbing in the oil on her due date.

If I didn't dilate they were going to put me on the hormone drip, and the anaesthetist was all ready so they could whip my baby out. I made them wait another hour and started sniffing the Clary Sage (I put it on a tissue and placed it under my vest strap) while bouncing etc. And went from 3cm stretching to 4 at midday to birthed my baby by 15:00.

wintersniffle · 09/01/2011 20:04

Congrats deedee, scary but sounds like it's all worthwhile. Smile

mamasunshine and walkthedog will be keeping my fingers crossed for both of you.

dancingcat very exciting to have your date, hope all goes well.

I've got a lot of back and hip ache but still nothing resembling labour/ pre-labour. I'm sort of impatient to meet the little person but quite enjoying the calm before the storm, it's going to be busy once they're actually here!

pacita · 09/01/2011 21:42

Same here, Wintersniffle, lower back pain, achey hips and full on cowboy walk. I have also been having REALLY strong Braxtons, but am fiercely crossing my legs, as I really don't want to go into labour before my parents arrive on the 15th!

Do you think strong Braxtons mean the birth is imminent? I haven't had a show yet (thank god).

MacMomo · 09/01/2011 23:29

Congrats deedee wonderful news, hope you're getting some rest now.

Have decided on Tamsyn Miranda as dd's name - what do you think?

Breastfeeding very painful although have been checked by teacher and we are doing it right - the damage was done in hospital when i didn't know what I was doing. Have had to resort to nipple shields.

Am becoming very familiar with the 1 - 6 am tv schedule! At least i am managing to get sleep during day.

Hope all those still waiting are doing ok too - not long now :)

WalkTheDog · 10/01/2011 10:27

nice final name choice macmomo. My friend in Australia send me a book that she found helpful when she had her boy 6months ago and it talks about how baby's know that they get the best milk supply through the night (evolution seemingly), so Tamsyn is just being smart :)

mamasunshine hope BP was ok on check

oh not long now dancing cat, well done to your baby on staying inside for so long

Hope aches aren't too bad pacita and wintersniffle. I am actually feeling almost the best I have felt all pg since baby moved down slightly last week. Pubic symphsis pretty sore at times, but other than that not much to complain about.

OH returned to work today, have got so used to him being at home, feels lonely without him. Making more soup and bread/rolls - freezer is bursting at the seams. Also telling LO to stay put as snowy today/tomorrow on our route to hosp.

littlehuman · 10/01/2011 16:43

hey macmommo
i really like tamsyn as a name
and also for the confusion a few days ago , here in scotland you got 3 weeks to register your child but in england its 6 weeks.( i ve read it in one of the liflet from the bounty pack Grin)

beijingaling · 10/01/2011 20:30

Hi ladies. Well DD is now one week old almost to the hour. Night before delivery I started getting increasingly more painful contractions at about 8 mins apart. We finally rang the hospital at midnight who told us to come in just in case. We did and they strapped me to a monitor which i hated as staying still during contractions was agony. I was 3 cm dialated at that point and shocked at how painful the contractions were. Asked for an epidural and that was bliss. Slept for 2 hours then begged for more drugs as epidural wore off. They gave me more and then told me I was 10cm! MW broke my waters at this point which in retrospect I shouldn't have let her do as I think it was this that distressed DD. Tried to push but couldn't feel much. MW said DD was about 1cm away then checked again and said she had gone back up. DD also then passed meconium so they decided vacuum was the way forward. DD was born at 6am. She was very floppy and not crying so they took her off my tummy and checked her out. Dr came to fix my 2nd degree rip then without warning me of the effects gave me a suppository which made me liberally crap myself with no warning. Trying to dash to loo with an iv and baby was horrible and DH didn't understand why I was suddenly so distressed to go to the loo!

We were moved to another room and then settled in BFing was agony and I'm using shields. Was toldlatch was fine but think she just couldn't get enough of my nips in!

Coming home was bliss. Were slowly working it out and getting on with things. It's 4:30am here and DD has just dropped off after a feed.

One bit of advice for all those yet to give bith: sleep now. A lot.

Contests to all new babies and mummies.

deedee321 · 10/01/2011 23:42

Girls still to go, am thinking of you. All the very, very best.
Lovely name MacMomo, worth waiting to get the right one!
We brought our beautiful Louie home this afternoon and it has been one of the loveliest times of my life. My little girl was so delighted to have mummy home and is trying so hard to share nicely with her new brother. And Louie is just so chilled out and happy. However, he is no turnal so who knows what night time will bring!!!
Kiwi, that sounds quite a scary delivery, glad things are settled and happy now. I am having to block mine out as feel sense of panic thinking of it. But all well now.

WalkTheDog · 11/01/2011 10:42

wow a week already beijingaling, thanks for tip re suppositories. Did you get your steak dinner on your last night in hosp?

Good to hear Louie home deedee

Forcing myself to do some cleaning today, wish I had even a little bit of the nesting instinct. Kitchen floor needs done, know that can help bring baby on but chance of snow tonight/tomorrow morning, so not sure if I should do it or not! Hoping weather not too bad as due to see consultant tomorrow and he has to travel to our local hosp.

Hannah1890 · 11/01/2011 11:33

Wow beijingaling that sounds like quite a fast paced birth story. Glad all is well,

also glad Louie is home deedee and that your little girl is taking to him well.

Still waiting here 40+2 also have am appt. with the consultant tomorrow so will have a date for induction, hope BP stays down tomorrow as they may then leave me for an extra week and would much rather this LO decided to come out on his own.

Good Luck with your consultant appt tomorrow and with the weather walkthedog

Did anyone else watch one born every minute? I did and now kind of wishing Id waited until baby was here, little bit close for comfort, although at least its some information to try and prepare myself. Hope everyone who have already popped are doing well with babies and everyone whos still waiting are happy

littlehuman · 11/01/2011 13:00

hi hannah
i didnt watch one born every minute cos nowadays i am asleep by 9pm Grin (i try to sleep whenever i can between feeds and as dh is still in paternity leave til tmrw i let them both watch tv together downstairs!not sure dh is a big fan of match of the day! lol)
but as i was in labor most of xmas day i watched "one born at xmas" most of the day and evening , it helped a bit to think i wasnt the only one in agony! :-)

anyway best of luck, hoping your wee one comes soon!

splodge77 · 11/01/2011 19:06

well, its my due date today and no sign of anything so far, just off out for a curry! come on little splodge, time to come out!

wintersniffle · 11/01/2011 20:21

My due date today too, I think I'm going to be driven slightly crazy by all the 'have you had it yet?' queries. I don't think I've ever had so many texts in one day!

icd · 12/01/2011 10:17

wintersniffle I'm the same! If I ever have another one I must remember to tell everyone my due date is 2 weeks later than it actually is ;)

WalkTheDog · 12/01/2011 13:43

what are people like thinking babies come on their due date or thinking that we might have forgottten to tell them baby is here!

hannah how did your appt go?

Saw lovely consultant today, baby still not engaged (he said still very high) and cervix doing nothing. He said likelihood of normal delivery only as high as 20-25%, so we've decided to go for elective CSection on Friday - term+7, (which he will just so happen to be doing). Was pretty much expecting that, so not too much of a shock, just need to repack bags and going to pick up some disposable nappies (don't fancy coming home with tons of washing) and seemingly hosp will only give you 2 nappies. Glad I did the cleaning yesterday!

MacMomo · 13/01/2011 00:22

walkthedog good luck for friday; make sure you take it easy after. One of my midwives said she had a section 20 yrs ago when standard practice was to keep mums in for two weeks after! She was sympathetic to my objections at another mw trying to bully me out of bed on day one. I tried to do tesco shop yesterday (day 11) and lasted about 15 mins which i thought was fine.

Have come down with fever and all over aches, not convenient. Don't know if flu or not. Dr said baby ok. I wish I had the flu jab while pg but was never mentioned to me.

Thinking of all you ladies still waiting for your arrivals, and hope your appointment went well Hannah

LadyBuzz · 13/01/2011 12:04

macmomo mention it to your midwife esp if you are going hot and cold, it could be a sign of infection in your CS site. Prob not but its worth asking. I had it after my first CS and a simple AB course sorted it.

walkthedog best of luck for Friday!

4 days to go for me - I can't wait til Tuesday!

deedee321 · 13/01/2011 15:22

MacMomo I second that, I came out in a shivery fever after my c section and the doctors really fussed. Just finished my antibiotics. Best to check.

readyornot2011 · 13/01/2011 19:40

40+6
Stretch & sweep today, the midwife was lovely and it didn't hurt. Apparently I'm 1-2 cm dilated, 2/5 palpable, 8 on the bishops scale, all very promising but no sign of her shifting. Making the most of me timeand sleep while it lasts. Have had a few episodes of my vision going funny, called the midwifes but as I had had something similar pre-pregnancy and my blood pressure was fine today they weren't worried. Lots of braxton hics, bearly notice them now, midwwife even asked if my bump was always this hard!?
Will be induced next friday if nothings happened, dh in the middle of new job training, so go from hoping she'll come to praying she won't depending on his shifts. He is flying to Milan on sat (he's a pilot) and will have his have to have hisphone off so not looking Foward to that. Hope all the mums are recovering well, anyone else in my boat?

Hannah1890 · 13/01/2011 21:25
