Yay Lucky I'm so pleased you got your Christmas baby! Now you can add Beth's name to all your Christmas cards! Xmas Wink

Congratulations on the birth of baby Sean Mumnerves - Frolickers choose such great names for their LO's. Xmas Grin

Great news about the scan HH - I'm sure everything will be perfect and you can spend all of Christmas Day with a fuzzy glow! Xmas Grin And the same applies to you Crazy.

Shame about not finding out the sex Cherry, but I had a surprise and it really made the birth exciting. We were all going absolutely nuts trying to figure out what flavour she was going to be.

Well, Capricorn and Homebound have been AWOL for ages so I guess that makes you top of the list Seablue! Are you getting mostly nervous or excited? Xmas Smile

haloflo · 21/12/2010 18:01

cherry Am very pleased that your 20 week scan went well. Shame it was so quick though. You can't help how you feel and if you are disappointed then don't feel bad, there is such a build up to it that its a bit of an anti climax not finding out.

Could you get a private scan in a few weeks to find out the colour? Maybe wait a few weeks then you get to see how your LO has grown too?

Waves to pixie - nice to see you popping back. I often luck in the post natal thread but sometimes find it a little overwhelming. You all seem to manage so well and all know so much!

Unfortunatly the list is getting rather short but I seem to remember last Christmas providing us with a baby boom in September 2010. Hopefully the same will be said for September 2011.

mrsw I also felt I would never be near the top and am now 8th! Shock

DP and I (well mostly me) have been trying to add more names to our short list. How would people feel about the intials FO? Do you think its looks offensive or am I being silly?

aly323 · 21/12/2010 18:03

Congratulations to Lucky!!! What a nice way to spend the holidays!

highheelsandequations · 21/12/2010 18:07

congratulations to lucky Xmas Smile

cherrycobbler · 21/12/2010 18:27

thanks girls, I am now feeling less hormonal and more rational, and just happy that the scan was quick and went well. Yay! Still feel v lucky to be at this point :) I am supposed to have a later scan at about 28/30 weeks due to some growth concerns from my 12 week bloods, so hopefully that will go well in terms of Good Growth and may be an opportunity to try and have a secodn sneaky peek. Pixie lovely to hear from you!

halo I think the initials FO are fine to be honest. What about adding a middle name too to separate the two?

I too really hope there is another bumper crop of Christmas BFP's - it is getting rather short, and there are lots of lovely Frolickers I have my fingers crossed for.

raspberrytipple · 21/12/2010 19:21

Evening ladies, I just wanted to pop over the road and say hello. No BFP for me yet so can't join quite yet :(

Especially popped in to see how highheels, my little pole dancing buddy was doing and it's looking good?

Hopefully there will soon be some further BFPs to top up your list! xx

MrsWajs · 22/12/2010 02:16

Oh girls, knew my good mood had to end sometime!!

I am really down in the dumps today.

I've had a sore eye for a few days and thought I had scratched it with my contact lense but it was never getting any better and I wanted it sorted out before Christmas, so, this morning (after nightshift) I went to my GPs and they said I had something stuck in/on my eye!! Like a bit of grit or something. Anyway they refused to do anything with it and advised that I went to my own optician, so, I left there, got back in my car and after looking up the number on my phone (took ages) I phoned - randomly the opticians I go to is shut on a Tuesday!!! Less than impressed by this point given that I was knackered, it was -11 degrees and the roads were a nightmare around town!
So, I phoned my mum for a rant and after hearing the eye saga she breaks the news to me, that my grandma is now not coming for Christmas because of the weather!! I kid you not, I actually properly sobbed for a good 5 minutes down the phone!! She lives near Doncaster and it is a 6 hour journey to us and after having a flood in the summer she is now paranoid about frozen pipes and train delays so is refusing to come, I'm so sad because I only see her about twice a year and I really wanted her to come and see the bump and the things we have got for babyWajs etc - does that sound really pathetic and hormonal???
My dad also works offshore and is due home on Thursday so I think I might actually be distraught if he doesn't get back because of the weather, that combined with one of my brothers working away this Christmas means that it's likely just to be me, DP, my mum and my little brother - so NOT how we planned it :(
All of our jobs make it difficult for us to have a Christmas off together so I'm soo annoyed that the weather is disrupting the whole thing! Anyway I'm gonna stop ranting now.

Oh yeah back to the eye story, I decided I couldn't wait for the optician tomorrow so I went to the local minor injuries dept to see if they could remove this bit of "stuff" from my eye - OUCH!!! They picked at it with a needle!!!! It was numb at the time so not too bad but it bloody hurts now!! I've now got a very attractive eye patch to wear and have to put ointment in every 4 hours for the next 2 days and if it is still no better go to a bigger hospital for them to do it allover again, ummm, yip it is Christmas in 3 days time!!! Guess I can kiss goodbye to the smoky eyed make-up look I was planning!!! Hmmmph, that's enough doom and gloom for now, scrooge is signing off.....x

bunnygirl80 · 22/12/2010 09:16

cherry glad your scan went well. I'm sure you'll be able to find out the sex at your next scan. I was really disappointed after my 20week scan cos poor William wasn't the sex I wanted and I wished we'd never found out. But I'd probably have been equally upset if we couldn't see! I just think there's no pleasing hormonal pregnant women Xmas Grin

halo I don't think there's a problem with the initials FO

mrsw sorry you're not getting the xmas you hoped for. Will you be able to see your grandma in the new year at all? Hope your eye gets better soon - I've always wanted an eye patch cos I think they're super cool!!!

capricorn76 · 22/12/2010 09:40

@Pixistix. I'm here! I mainly just read from time to time and see what everyone is up to but haven't posted for ages apart from AIBU where I cannot help getting involved sometimes.

Congratulations to all of those who have already had their babies. I hope you have a fantastic first Xmas with your little ones.

I was due last Saturday (date was changed from Jan 1st a while ago)but still no sign of the baby. She can probably sense that it's too cold outside! DH and I are getting a little impatient with the wait.

fudgecat · 22/12/2010 10:02

Hiya

Just thought I'd pop in to wish you all a merry christmas

X

crazybutterflylady · 22/12/2010 10:25

Hi all!

lucky congrats on the birth of Beth - my sister's name and I love it so well chosen Xmas Grin I hope you are both well.

cherry so cross for you that you didn't find out the colour, but really pleased to hear all is okay, did you enjoy seeing LO on the screen again? Do you have any more scans due... I'm not sure what else we get after 20 weeks Xmas Confused I got the support tights from Pebble - they are TOUGH to get on Xmas Blush but then I found them really tight over my bump too, especially sitting at my desk so I think I am going to give up on them.

mrsw sorry to hear about your Grandma - maybe you could have a second christmas when babywajs is born and invite her for that, then she can not only see the nice things but the LO wearing them! Hope your eye improves too hun.

highheels really glad you've got your scan before christmas, I know it's a hectic day to have it but if you have time please come and let us know how you get on!

halo I don't see any problem with FO either, it took me a while to figure out why it would be bad actually. Dim I know! Would that be the full name, ie no middle name?

to raspberry. Hope you are well sweetie, have a lovely Christmas xx

cherrycobbler · 22/12/2010 17:29

crazy good luck tomorrow hon x

MrsWajs · 22/12/2010 23:20

halo is your baby having a unisex name?? I am also confused as I thought I knew what your surname was Hmm :)
But other than that then no I don't think FO is offensive!!

I have recovered myself from the grandma scenario - it's just as well she didn't come either as today she discovered a burst pipe!!! I think maybe she's psychic!! And also my dad is now home a day early, think the higher-uppers took pity on them because of the weather! So christmas is back on!

On a sour note I slipped and fell today on some ice - winded my self and bump was a little bit sore afterwards but otherwise think all ok, baby is still moving anyway. Got myself in a total state about it though (thank you once again hormones!) didn't have time to go and get checked out as I was running late for work but swithering about whether I should go in tomorrow morning or not, any thoughts??

crazybutterflylady · 23/12/2010 06:42

mrswajs stay at home!! It's one day and even if you feel ok, the rest before Christmas will do you good!x

haloflo · 23/12/2010 08:04

mrsw The name was on the girl's name list & LO is having my DP's surname, which start's with an O. Are you giving your LO your name or your DP's? Or a double barrelling it? I would like to think DP and will get married one day and then we can all have the same surname.

I hope you are feeling better today about your fall. Don't go into work if you feel at all sore.

Sorry that you won't get the Christmas you dreamed of with your Grandma either, I think a second Christmas later on when the weather thawed is a brillant idea. Glad your dad will be there though.

How is the eye today? I could barely read your post about that as I am very squeamish when it comes to eye pain. I hope it heels fast!

crazy All the best for today.

capricorn Nice to hear from you! Hope that baby doesn't keep you waiting too much longer.

The name was Freya for anyone interested. And yes a middle name would separate the intials. I've not decided on a middle name for a girl yet (its going to be my dad's name for a boy) Glad no one sees the intials as offensive though, clearly I was reading too much into it!

I'm not 100% about the name anyway and will no doubt change my mind lots between now and March.

I hope everyone has a good day, I best get ready for work!

cherrycobbler · 23/12/2010 09:00

halo loooove the name Freya! Our LO is going to have DH's surname - we are married but I didn't take his surname - I am feeling a bit wierd about not having same name as baby but maybe will crowbar it into a middle name.

mrsw falls are so unsettling, I think resting up sounds good. Glad to hear your dad will be on his way, sorry about your poor nan.

hello to rasberry! v much hope to have you here properly soon talking about how you are juggling pregnancy and pole dancing classes!!

last day at work today - got in early to try and clear some stuff so that i won't have to stay too late. Best get on! Have a cold that seems to have lasted about two weeks but as long as it doesn't mutate into the horrible flu thats going round our office I'm trying not to complain too much :)

happy christmas eve eve everyone!

Bellaby · 23/12/2010 12:01

Big congrats to Mumsnerves and lucky - such amazing news Xmas Grin Grin. Looking forward to hearing more.

cherry - glad everything went well with the 20 week scan. They always seem so quick - I want to spend hours having a scan!

We had our 17.5 week scan last week (not sure why the consultant likes to do one at that point) which was all fine and we are expecting a little Girl Grin!!! So looks like the sense I've been having all along has been right although not sure if that proves anything. DH is very chuffed and keeps asking 'how are my girls doing' Smile

MrsW - sorry to hear your Christmas plans haven't worked out. It seems to get so much harder as the years go by. Look after yourself as well and hope the eye makes a speedy recovery. Fingers crossed your Dad makes it back today.

Fudge - lovely to see you popping in. My thoughts are with you this Christmas x

Halo - I think that name is lovely!

I've been feeling under the weather since Friday so haven't been at work this week. Finally starting to feel back to myself today. Luckily this year bought all my Christmas presents a week earlier than normal so haven't had to worry about the last minute rush.

Crazy- hope it goes well today

Highheels -good luck with your scan. would be great to hear how it goes.

Big Grin and wave to anyone I've missed.

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas

Lots of love

xxx

crazybutterflylady · 23/12/2010 14:14

Just popping in to say the scan went well, everything is healthy and okay in there and the (grumpy) sonographer is 75% certain we have a girl Xmas Grin yay!!

Hope you're all well, have a wonderful christmas - highheels hope it goes well tomorrow, will pop in to see how it goes.

xx

crazybutterflylady · 23/12/2010 14:17

^^ Bellaby just read your post, that's 3 girls so far, mrswajs is having one too...!

Good luck with the great name debate Xmas Wink

cherry i think that makes yours a boy... Xmas Smile

xx

highheelsandequations · 23/12/2010 14:26

Just popping in to say glad scans went well crazy and bella, there do seem to be quite a lot of girls just now Xmas Grin

Have been reading but no time to post anything at the moment, hope everyone's well and enjoying the start of the festive season.

Running round like a mad thing here trying to get everything ready for Christmas when all I really want to do is sleep, really looking forward to getting some energy back in the new year (I hope!) and regretting saying we'd have Christmas day here... Looking forward to tommorow though, maybe it'll start feeling real soon? Will pop in and tell you how it went.

pixiestix · 23/12/2010 22:21

Congratulations on your girls Crazy and Bellaby - girls are fabulous!! Xmas Grin Mine is currently sleeping in her moses basket and looking absolutely gorgeous.

Hello Capricorn, lovely to see you!! Hope your LO makes an appearance for you soon.

Best of luck tomorrow HH

Ouch MrsWajs, hope your eye is getting better, just reading that made me wince.

Freya is a gorgeous name Halo. You should give her a middle name starting with L so her initials spell FLO! Xmas Grin

Hello Fudgecat, I'm so glad you are still a part of this page. I hope 2011 brings you all the joy that you deserve xx

aly323 · 23/12/2010 22:31

Wow! So much pink here lately! I was feeling like everyone was having boys, but it seems it all evens out in the end. Congrats Bellaby and Crazy! I'm not sure, but doesn't this mean that most mama has guessed correctly recently?

I just gave hugs to all my coworkers an started my maternity leave. I'm VERY happy, but have to say, it also felt really weird. I can't believe I won't be working for 6 months, and (even crazier) that I'll be giving birth before too long. It's alot to take in, even though I thought I was prepared.

Just wondering if anyone else is having trouble capturing the holiday spirit? We usually celebrate Christmas and put some effort into decorating, cooking, etc. This year, we're not really doing anything. I think I'm so excited about the baby that it's really overshadowing everything else. I'm pretty sure we'll make up for it next year.

Ok, I'm off to the dr for another nst. I get 45 minutes of listening to my boys heartbeat. I hope everyone has a relaxing and pleasant next few days!!

Oh, I almost forgot, I wanted to say a quick hello to Cap76. I'm happy to see you're still around and doing well. I guess your little one is just doing it's best to become Capricorn10. I'm sure things will get going soon- fingers crossed for an easy and non-eventful delivery!! Please keep us posted!!

MrsWajs · 23/12/2010 23:58

Ahh halo that explains a lot - I thought you and DP were married hence the confusion! Yes babyWajs will be taking DP's surname also and like you I am fully expecting to get married sometime in the future, sooner rather than later if I get my way but DP is a little younger than me and doesn't seem to be in such a hurry!

I like Freya too, I went to school with a girl of the same name but she spelled hers Freija - think it's the gaelic way and I quite like that as it makes it a little more unusual. I'm also fond of Eilidh (pronounced Aylee not sure of normal spelling!) but DP thinks it looks like eye-lid so that's out!
We've still gotten no further with names, think we both like Charlotte shortened to Charlie but his surname begins with Sh so Charlotte Sh... might be a bit samey!

On the eye front - it is feeling much better so I don't need to have anything else done - thank god! Still feels a bit gritty and not 100% sure I'll get my lenses in on christmas day without aggravating it but at least it isn't painful anymore! Bump has been very active since my little fall so I think maybe it has woken baby up, she had been quite quiet the last few days - maybe just trying to stay warm! I didn't end up going to get checked over as I felt fine and she is definitely still moving so would have felt a bit silly! Although another girl at work tonight told me that had I been rhesus negative in the blood department I would need to go in and have a jab?! Anyone else know about this?

Crazy & Bellaby congrats on your pink bundles!!

Pixi Great idea re: the middle name for Halo's little one ;)

Aly323 Think I peaked too early with my christmas spirit - I was excited about it a few weeks ago but since been back at work it has disappeared and I still have so much to do that I don't want to stop and get excited until I'm oganised!! Tomorrow is going to be the thing of nightmares - have to go christmas shoping straight from work so that I can get home and have a sleep in the afternoon before picking up DSS at night (we have him for christmas eve this year!!) and in between all that I still need to wrap a few more presents, tidy the house and do some washing, get a few bits and bobs from the shop and attend a carol service!!! I have a feeling I'll be in bed for 9pm and sleeping for a good 12 hours!!! Thankfully DSS is a good sleeper and doesn't fully appreciate the christmas thing yet so won't want to get up at 5am!!

Merry christmas to you too fudgecat and I hope 2011 is a good year for you and your family :)

As for the rest of you incase I'm not back on before the big day, I hope you all have a fabulous christmas and highheels I'll be thinking of you tomorrow too Xmas Smile

WhiteRoses · 24/12/2010 16:19

Hi all,

Just a quick "happy Christmas" to you! Hope you're doing well - haven't had a chance to read through for a wee while. Blush

Also, a special Christmas hug and lots of love for Fudge. I think of you often. xxx

highheelsandequations · 24/12/2010 19:51

Very quick post as still not ready for tomorrow Xmas Shock

Meant to pop in earlier but no time. Scan went okay but a little disappointed as Pip didn't move at all, sonographer reckoned baby was asleep, also was put back to 11+2 with measurements and had thought after measurements from scan last week I should be at 11+5. So now have EDD of 13th July. So slightly disappointed not to see Pip waving and of course slightly worried that measurements aren't exactly right but trying not to worry! Pip was there and heart was beating away and little leg was sticking up in the air and DP got to see more than a blo at last Xmas Grin Think we're still going to share the news tomorrow, although I'm not quite as close to 12 weeks as I'd hoped, slightly terrified at the thought to be honest!

Happy Christmas to all, now I'd better go and ice my cake then tidy the bombsite that used to be a kitchen Xmas Smile
