First blissful day of maternity leave nearly over although i have been pretty busy. Signed up for 12 days of fitness for £12 at DW Fitness as they have a lovely pool in the town where my mum and dad live and swimming felt so good. Even if i only go three times it will be worth it. Tomorrow I am meeting up with two friends for coffee so there is hardly really any time left to 'nest'!
mumsnerves thanks for the reassurance on how I am feeling and that it is ok to dip back into work to get things cleared up; ml is pretty good so far. I haven't really seen any limbs sticking out, i think it could be a side effect of the anterior placenta but i feel a lot of squirming! The baby loved the Ellie Goulding gig last night and was bouncing away. I hope i wasn't cruel to take it to a concert so close to due date!
cherry glad you got the clothes situation sorted it is hard to be at the inbetweeny stage of discomfort in 'normal' clothes and mat clothes looking not quite right. I think my bump has dropped a bit and the weight of it is bringing down my over the bump bit of my jeans so I am running the risk of bump exposure, at 37 and a bit weeks my belly button still hasn't popped but according to dh 'looks like a cat's bum!" You probably don't need to know that but if you can't say it here, where can you?
highheels i am so glad you are getting to rest and that you got better news at the hospital. It would just be an extra worry trying to get around in the snow. Can i play devil's advocate with the telling / not telling your friend - would you be disappointed if she guessed your news and you didn't get to reveal it to her? I understand your reasons for not wanting to say anything too soon as well.
kurly working to 37 weeks is doable but it is only now I am actually properly starting to think about the birth. How does your mat leave work in with summer holidays etc as I remember a strange conversation once with teacher friends that there is a window to get pregnant so that you get mat leave, a couple of days back at the end of term and then paid summer hols!
I really like the hodge podge range in m&p, we have put finishing the nursery on hold until we find out what flavour the baby is although i wouldn't choose overtly pink, we have it painted and new wardrobes (for us) and drawers built and the cot is on holiday at my in laws!
I fell in love with izziwotnot hideaway bay range but dh thinks it is more girly and i think it is more boyish. We might just go for plain white waffle bumper etc and bring the gender of the baby in to other bits of the room where the rest of the furniture is / will be white. It is quite a small room complete with fireplace and we have opted to keep the spare single bed in there too whilst the baby is in the moses basket in our room at the start. It also meant i could cancel the £60 cot top changer from m&p that i ordered on a whim!
cherry i am in the sexy support stockings on prescription because of the oedema(?) i developed in my (c)ankles and lower legs in the last few weeks. I have feet and legs like shrek or froddo. My GP prescribed me 6 pairs on prescription and they have made such a difference, you can get tights but I am quite tall and at the best of times I struggle to keep them up. I got pg tights in H&M for about £8 for one pair, they stay up but have a really wierd see through mesh panel at the front and I have no idea why!
bellaby the puddings are so easy to make, here is the tried and tested recipe in case you fancy some festive cooking www.deliciousmagazine.co.uk/recipes/great-grannys-christmas-pudding. They are on steaming now and should be ready at midnight but making a right racket and my sil is staying with us later and the sofa bed is in the room beside the kitchen!
crazy i am really annoyed at 2 people saying that about twins, how rude and it says more about them than you, if you want to make a quip like that it is fine but not someone else!
halo the pram decision is a nightmare as it is a serious piece of kit to get to grips with! i went for a quinny buzz and maxi cosi seat, i am using the carry cot bit that my sister had as she rarely used it as she had a summer baby so I was able to order a replacement mattress from the manufacturer as little one in this weather will need to get snuggly. My friend has a 6 month old and has alreday bought a lighter buggy as she finds it easier when out and about so a pram purchase can be a purchase for the first 6 months and any little ones in the future rather than a long term solution.
girls we got caught out with the maxi cosi car seat after spending £££ on a family car. The seatbelts in the back of a focus are too short for a maxi cosi and we had to buy an isofix base at an extra £100+ (ford focus + family car you would think they would have got that right.) Look on the car seat manufacturer's website to see what options you have for your and dh/p's motor if you are a 2 car family before you make our expensive mistake!
mrsw I am so happy everything worked out for your other half's job, you have had such an eventful year, didn't he break both his arms a while back or am i going mad?
Right I must go upstairs and finish my hospital bag, i am such a procrastinator and then make the bed up for sil whilst dh is out drinking at the Christmas market - so much for his self imposed no drinking from 3 weeks before - eejit!
forgive me if I have neglected anyone - hello to the new mums!
