hello all! gosh it is quiet on here!

oneof8 sorry about the uncomfy ness, but hyper baby made me giggle! I have been living on sweets and sugary drinks as only thing to get me through the sickness, thankfully can't feel baby yet or it would doubtless be doing a constant jig. Having said that can't wait till I can feel the baby move as hopefully that will allay some of my still-constant paranoia that something's going wrong and I don't know.

No news from me, am starting to get some energy back (HOORAY!) and feel a bit more like me. I knew I was feeling better when instead of crawling into bed at 9pm as I have been doing, last night I made a huge long list of all the chores/admin I have to do (mostly things I was supposed to do in the past 3 mnths but have been too sorry for myself to do). Unfortunately this stressed me out rather than calmed me down, but now I have ticked two off this morning already (clearly busy day at work) - enquired about NCT class and ordered some more contact lenses!

Still being sick and feeling sick but hoping that will pass soon too. Have consultant appt in a week and a half to talk about my low hormone levels, trying not to stress about that too much.

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the festive buildup. I saw some v cute outfits (baby dressed up as a christmas pudding was a favourite) when looking for mat trousers and thought of all the Frolickers with little ones to dress up enjoy Christmas with!

luckyseven · 18/11/2010 12:30

Hello!

I keep popping on to read but haven't had the time to catch up properly so apologies!

I finish work a week tomorrow and I have so much to get done before then, I don't quite think they have realised that i am going. bLooking forward to getting off - will be 37 weeks by then so want to catch up with friends, make some Christmas puddings and clean the house like a crazy woman for the arrival of the little one. I also have to go to a couple of classes at the hospital - active birth, breastfeeding workshop and a tens machine demo - they have a whopping 6 that they lend out (subject to availability!) so must look into hiring one. anyone got any experiences or recommendations?

Had a check up this morning and my fundal measurement is 39cm at 35+ 6 which is big, tried to push for a growth scan but my vague gp said it was prob because i am tall (5 ft 9) and that the baby is moving into the pelvis. Am 3/5 engaged which i think means 2/5 of the head is in the pelvis and the rest should follow. I don't get scanned again until the 15th December which is 2 days before my due date.

Other than that not much to report, work is nearly finished in the house, plumber coming today to fix the radiator in our bedroom and we have shelves to put up in the baby's room and a bit of touch up painting to finish this weekend. Looking forward to a couple of nights out pre-baby as have tickets to see Ellie Golding, Laura Marling and Peter Kay between now and due date. Peter Kay is less than 2 weeks before due date but we booked the tickets last November!!!

crazybutterflylady · 18/11/2010 13:04

Hi all!!
cherry I LOVE that outfit too, in Mamas & Papas? So cute. I tried to persuade Mr Crazy to let me buy it for our nephew but he said it classed as child cruelty :( Booo. Did you find any maternity trousers. Share the spoils please, I am desperate for some! Sorry to hear you're still feeling rotten. My sickness has eased a bit but I am finding it hard to eat now which is frustrating given I am constantly starving!!

Oneof8 I love that you can prod the LO into movement with fizzy drinks etc, great! Hope the sickness subsides... have a chewing gum maybe, I always find that helps me when I have OD'd on sugar!

luckyseven not long at all for you now, how exciting! You're brave going to all those concerts/gigs - I hope your pelvic floors can stand up to Peter Kay, I hear he's very funny live! I bet you're thrilled you only have one week left, try not to get stressed, just enjoy it!

Not much news from me. I have been given approval to work from home every Friday which is really good and should help my energy levels. I'm really chuffed they have been so supportive and am hoping this means I will be able to come back part time after the baby is born. It's a good (kind of) trial run anyway!

Still havent bought a thing for the baby - very odd for me as I am a total shopaholic. When did you all start buying stuff? I feel a bit weird like it might still be too early but I am 15 weeks tomorrow (with huge bump to prove it, has appeared from nowhere!)

xx

luckyseven · 18/11/2010 13:22

crazy i got a pair of black maternity work trousers in Topshop and they have been amazing, they are not the over the bump kind but have buttons that you can loosen on the sides. Once I got bigger I teamed them with a bump band from mamas and papas and they are super comfy, nicely cut and the material is good not shiny. Would also recommend Mamalicious Jeans as they are brilliantly cut and have 'going out' jeans as well as more casual options.

crazybutterflylady · 18/11/2010 13:28

lucky I don't fit in stuff at topshop normally so I have just about ruled their stuff out. I'm a 14 but their trousers are so teeny that I can't get into any!

All the trousers I've found are skinny and skinny + size 14 = fashion disaaaaaarster for me :( sob.

seablue · 18/11/2010 13:29

Hello everyone - I've just been catching up, and wanted to say congratulations to Yorkshire and hermya and bunny. What amazing birth stories - thank you so much for sharing them.

I've not been posting as I've just been constantly in pain with the SPD and feel like I'd just be constantly moaning. But I'm on ML from next Friday, so will have more time (and hopefully be more in control of the pain because I won't be walking).

How's yours post-birth hermya?

Hope you're all well today. fudge I think it's amazing that you're still keeping an eye on us all - I often think of you.

aly - sorry to read that managing the GD is getting tougher x

cherrycobbler · 18/11/2010 13:50

crazy yes its the Mammas and Pappas outfit! A bit wrong to subject your defenceless baby to it but sooooo cute Grin. I've not had much luck with work clothes so far. I haven't yet checked out the Next recommendation I was given on this board - planning to do that soon. I am currently surviving with wearing my normal trousers but with the buttons undone, and covering the undone bit/ stopping them falling down with a bump band. Its far from ideal and prob won't work for much longer. I did get some M&S mat trousers online - not tried them yet tho. I do need to sort out a maternity suit or two for when I need to be really smart at work. The ones I've seen are £100s - not prepared to spend that much! I've also not bought anything for the LO. I think we're going to wait until our 20 week scan before we do. Seem to be buying so many things for me (support tights, bump band, bigger bras, clothes i can squeeze into) that shopping has been a bit of a chore rather than a pleasure!

lucky can't believe its so soon before you're off on ML and then fast approaching your due date! Love the idea of going off and making lots of christmas puds I have to say! Hooray re work being finished in the house and for all the fun outings coming up.

crazybutterflylady · 18/11/2010 15:24

cherry I have just been on eBay looking for a dress I can wear to a wedding and they have quite a lot... maybe look on there for a suit? With maternity stuff you know it hasn;t been worn forever so you might get a bargain and you can always sell it on there afterwards!
x

luckyseven · 18/11/2010 15:48

crazy i dare you to give Topshop maternity a try - as a fellow size 14/16 girl I was delighted when the maternity stuff in a 16 fitted me as I haven't been in topshop since I was 17! I have been mostly wearing size 16 maternity stuff and got a nice going out top there too. I know post-baby Topshop will once again be a shortcut i use to get to House of Fraser rather than a shopping option! I got a dress for a wedding in Red Herring maternity at Debenhams, not too expensive and worth a look as i have got a good few wears out of it and if i am still with child on Christmas Day at least I can wear something nice!

seablue we can be maternity leave buddies! roll on Friday 26th!

luckyseven · 18/11/2010 16:51

girls just in case you don't know about it Tesco are doing their double up on clubcard vouchers and it works on Tesco direct baby and toddler. I did it back in August and it was fab - my mum is a hoarder and hadn't spent her vouchers in ages and got lots of money of our quinny buggy and there was 20% off at the time too. I used ones we had saved up to get a BT 150 baby monitor for free and a breast pump. Worth looking into to save a bit of cash and they don't check if the vouchers are in your name or not!

MrsWajs · 18/11/2010 18:16

I can also vouch for Topshop maternity - got leggings from there a few weeks ago and I am never out of them!! :)

Laptop still playing up so posting from work quickly. Feeling a bit pants today, had major heartburn this morning (6am!!!) which I wasn't loving and have felt pretty rubbish since, think my bump is expanding daily as my tummy muscles feel stretched - suppose I can expect stretch marks soon as well :(

Still no word on 20 week scan and am 17+4 today so going to phone next week if still now ord!

Hope everyone else is fine.x

Hermya321 · 18/11/2010 20:27

This is a very quick and run post but seablue mine is compleatly gone. I've had no symptons whatsoever. In fact post birth I did forget about that side of things. I also had a forceps birth which for SPD can be a bit hmmm, but it was low forceps so not as bad as it could have been.

Ladies, if you are thinking of getting a sling. I can totally recomed a wrap one, DS gets a bit fussy and beyond himself at times. But once he gets in the sling he's a different baby and settles right away.

Anyway, I hope you;re all well.

OP posts:
bunnygirl80 · 18/11/2010 22:53

cherry I got alot of my maternity stuff from asos.com - their trousers are cut a bit on the small side ,so might be worth ordering a size bigger as I outgrew some of my jeans towards the end

I got workwear from ebay as nice trousers in cotton rather than polyester are hard to come by for under $200 here, managed to get a couple of pairs for $5 each from ebay though

seablue I had SPD for the last 3weeks of pg (so in the grand scheme of things not taht bad) and it was gone completely the day after the birth.

lucky if the head's starting to engage already then you could well pop a bit early like I did!

I would second hermya's tip about the sling - it's great when DS has wind and will only sleep upright as I can still have the use of my hands while he settles.

My biggest tip to you all, from a lesson I learnt the hard way, is that even if you are intending to BF make sure you have access to either a pump or formula just in case it all goes wrong at 3am. And make sure you know how to use the pump/sterilise the bottles rather than having to hunt for them in the back of a wardrobe, unpack them and read the instructions while trying to calm a baby who is screaming in hunger.

BFing was going so well for us when we left the hospital I thought we'd be fine at home, but then the milk fairy came to visit, and my nipples were so stretched that DS couldn't latch on, so we needed to feed him EBM, but of course all the stuff we needed to use was still in its boxes. Not much fun in the middle of the night.

Have put a picture of Will on my profile if you want to see how cute he is Smile

OneOf8 · 19/11/2010 08:44

Just a flying visit - Bunny, Will is a little cutie!

Hope everyone is doing well, so glad it is Friday, have a lie-in planned for tomorrow so very much looking forwards to this!

All the talk of clothes... I have "cheated" in the maternity clothers department - buying maternity trousers and long/tunic style "normal" tops (going up sizes if needed).

I am quite fussy as have an akward shape, so this has suited me. Not really saved anything doing it this way, but makes me feel better!

Will be popping to the shops Sunday as need something for the work's Christmas do. There are some really nice tops in Next which look like they are cut in a way which should be "bump friendly" - but have only looked on line, so will investigate and report back! Smile

Happy Friday!

superpenguin · 19/11/2010 15:38

Hello all!
Thank goodness it's Friday! :) Had a crazy manic week at work again and I for one am looking forward to the weekend!

Talking of clothes, I got some really comfy maternity trousers (smart black ones for work) from Next for £20 and some other grey ones from New Look. Have only been able to wear maternity trousers for quite some time now.
Top-wise I'm now on a mixture of 'normal' (i.e. not maternity) tops if they are cut long or baggy or stretchy enough and a few actual maternity tops / shirts, as bump now getting to the stage where most of my work shirts are too tight!

Anyway, hope you are all well and have a fabulous weekend.
xxx

haloflo · 20/11/2010 14:17

Afternoon all!

Firstly I just wanted to tell highheels I've been thinking of you all week. Fingers crossed for Monday. Stay optimistic & try to keep your mind busy. When I had spotting at 6 weeks I was at a family wedding. To help me out of my misery I drank 2 bottles of beer and had a dance. Seemed inappropriate at first but it got me through a difficult patch. Do whatever you need to. xx

Secondly huge congrats to new mum bunny! William is gorgeous and it sounds like you coped with the birth really well. I hope you heel nice and fast.

Also mummyYorkshire Wow. Your sound like you coped amazingly with everything that happened in Eleanor's journey to the world. What you said about your DH sounds amazing, I hope that continues and you are healing well.

kurly Hope your 20 week scan goes well (Am I right in thinking it's on Friday 26th?) Very exciting to have had a sneak peak! I also heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time a week and a few days ago. I loved it! Are you starting to plan your ML now? I've got a week or two to decide when to finish - an exciting but scary thought!

cherry Ouch for your poor legs. I've never had varicose veins but they sound horrid. Hopefully your support stockings will continue to provide relief. Have you a date for your 20 week scan yet? You want to find out the gender? Hope your chat with the consultant goes well and like the private clinic can reassurance you.

mrsw I've decided that if you think its movement, it defiantly is. How exciting! My baby still moves sporadically and I defiantly feel it more sitting down than lying down. I hope you get your scan date through soon.

Bellaby Fab news on your scan and your new baby niece! Enjoy spreading your news.

Oneof8 Hope you are well today and baby doesn't go quiet on you again. One worry after another aren't they our LO's! Enjoy shopping on Sunday - I hope you get some nice stuff from Next.

aly I'll be open and honest here, although would never say this in RL. I think my LO's a girl, as does DP. 50/50 chance of me being right yes?! I am loving your 29 week pic, so cute! I assume all was good at the growth scan? Things on track size wise?

lucky Yey for starting ML. Make sure you leave time to relax between cooking , cleaning and going out!

crazy I've bought nothing so far...internet research has started but I figure I can go shopping in the new year. I feel once I start I won't be able to stop and we are on a budget!

mumsnerves Top of the list! I hope you are ok and feeling ready for your LO.

Not much new from me. I went to the Trafford Centre last Saturday with the aim on getting some maternity clothes and browsing at cute baby stuff. We managed about 5 shops (and 4 items of clothing) before I wanted some food (chips) and the whole day was exhausting. I am NOT doing my baby shopping there, am sticking to quieter retail parks from now on and probably after Christmas rather than before.

And a rather TMI topic here but I want to speak about boob leakage. 22+6 now and a few days ago my right breast started to leak clear liquid. It looks like water and makes my bras/pj tops hard when it dries. So far I am only getting about a 10p size circle 3 or 4 times a day but now the left one is at it so I fear it might get worse. The books say this can happen but I would like to know if this has happened to any frolickers. DP says he doesn't care but I'm a little embarrassed.

luckyseven · 20/11/2010 15:58

halo you are not alone started happening to me a few weeks ago, more at night, more the right one and wierdly every time I wear a red pj top! I had some breast pad samples in the house so used them up and bought some slimline ones too. I now won't wear a light coloured top without opting for a pad just in case!

aly i have no consistent instinct on boy or girl but most people have decided we are having a boy for some reason. I think I am carrying high which can suggest girl but also have linea nigra right up my bump which would suggest boy so will just have to wait and see! If i knew what it is i reckon I would have its clothes bought to at least age 2 rather than the selection of plain white baby clothes we have bought!

crazy i started buying and shopping around for stuff after my 20 week scan, have spread the cost out of getting the baby stuff in since then after being inspired by Hermya and Bunny who did the same. Friends and family are now asking what we need so because of my research have been able to say specifically what we would like eg x changing mat in Next or Y cosy toes for the maxi cosi etc

oneof8 good luck with the shopping in Next and don't forget about the NEXT sale just after Christmas if you can keep yourself going til then as I saved a fortune and got lots of dresses, cardis and leggings/jeggings at massive savings. The deliveries came in about 6 parcels and i just took back anything i didn't fancy. Also if you know someone with a NEXT account and you don't have one get them to reccommend you and you both get £20 credit! I love a bargain!

bunny will is so cute, he looks really long/tall. I want a long baby! I also couldn't believe how mini you were in your 20 week picture! Thanks for the tip about having the bottles and pump unpacked and working properly. Friends of mine told me at the weekend to get in a couple of cartons of aptamil baby milk in case of emergency so all these tips are fab!

mrsw hope you get your scan date through soon, you will be amazed at the difference! Sympathy on the heartburn it is a nightmare I have had it everyday since about the same time as you. If you haven't already get peptac on prescription from your GP and talk to them about ranitidine which is the drug name of zantac. I take them sparingly but they really really work. Sleeping on my side propped up on the v shaped pillow i got in Dunelm Mill has def helped me get more sleep.

seablue sorry to hear about your spd, it sounds terrible but at least there is a crumb of comfort that it will go away post birth, apparently my carpal tunnel will disappear after the birth so bring it on!

super if you are looking for a nice work shirt i saw a lovely white one yesterday half price in mamas and papas for £16, i would have got it but i finish this Friday! Yipee I am so sad i counted that I will be off for 261 days!

hermya which sling did you go for? dh point blank refuses to even contemplate wearing one, something about not being a kangaroo. He can be so odd sometimes but to me they look super practical!

highheels continue to think about you and hoping all works out for you on Monday at the scan, let us know how you get on. big hug!

Today we are supposed to be finishing the work round the house but dh is really stressed and had to go into work so i went and did a big shop and it took forever - online shopping is the future for me i think. hopefully we will get it finished tomorrow as the rugby is going to take priority later this afternoon. I can't wait to see the haka but know that Ireland are going to get stuffed! my mum is at the match on corporate and I am so jealous!

Good to see lots of chat again on the thread, i hope we have some new grads soon! Sorry if i have skipped anyone.

Right that shopping isn't going to out itself away but maybe i should have a packet of salt and vinegar mccoys as a wee energy boost!

mumnerves · 20/11/2010 18:14

ok the harddrive on my computer broke down and it's taken this long for DH to fix itHmm so here goes another catch up post:

MrsWajs Hope this is just a phase your DH is going through, mine did and even though had a cig at work 2 days ago (citing stress as an excuse) has more or less calmed right down as the inevitable is looming. He hasn't had a drink for 2 weeks which I'm really proud of him for.

Cherry glad your mind has been put at ease.

Yorkshire CONGRATULATIONS!!! :) You may not have had a great birth but it made me all tearful what you said about your DH, I'm exactly like you being ultra dependent and it's lovely when they're there for you. Eleanor sounds every bit worth whatever you went through :)

highheels keeping my fingers crossed for you, hope you can perhaps stop googling as I think that just puts the fear in god in women who are already frantic. A heart beat is a good sign though, so hope your LO pulls through x

Bunny conratulations on little william bunny, how lovely :)

Hermya thanks for all the sound advice you keep dishing out, will certainly keep it all in mind. I've got myself a lovely meitai and can't wait to use it :)

oneof8 had a giggle about hyperbaby. I give mine a good prod rub and that usually wakes him/her up :o If you are looking for a nice dress/top asos.com is worth looking at, I got a lovely maternity LBD from there a few months ago and it fit really really well.

cherrycobbler glad you're feeling better and hope you manage to make the most of it.

luckyseven thanks for asking after me, and hurrah for ML! I do think you're very brave to have booked tickets at this stage. Hope you manage to make the concerts.

haloflo thanks for thinking of me. Not had any boob leakage but I can imagine it's quite inconvenient.

mumnerves · 20/11/2010 18:31

Oops meant to preview instead of post, so just a bit of what's going on with me, can't believe it's been 2 weeks since I've posted and I'm on top of the list Shock. It's really starting to hit me especially when my friends have commented that I've 'dropped' so shouldn't be much longer. Had to have a scan last week to check position of LO as my MW said LO's head was well snuggled to the back of my womb, and LO was confirmed head down so we're ready to go!

I've finally got round to packing my hosp bag and making last minute plans. Am measuring a cm behind but mw is not worried as she said LO is a good size and will prob be 7lbs+ Also, DH and I were small babies (under 6lbs) so I suppose we shouldn't be expecting massive babies.

Moses basket etc are all washed and ready so just need to plod around and do that little bit of cleaning and tidying so I'll have minimal to do after birth. Have made and bought lots of frozen foods and got a good friend to look after the dog, so as I was told by my friend, you are as ready as you'll be!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

cherrycobbler · 21/11/2010 19:34

bunny will is such a cutie!! Thanks for the clothes tips - and the milk equipment one too, sounds like it must have been a bit of a long night.

hello mumsnerves! gosh sounds like it could be quite soon now!!

lucky hope all the work on the house is pretty much nearing an end. I love watching the haka too - missed it on the rugby but were lucky enough to go to NZ a few years ago and when we watched it it made all my hairs go up on end.

halo not got a date through yet, then realised that I was supposed to book it myself at the hopsital which I haven't done yet Blush. MUST do that next week. I am so with you on the busy shopping experience being a no no, pre Christmas too.

highheels will be thinking of you tomorrow.

All ok here. I have a horrid cold and am struggling with not being able to do my usual over-the-counter-drug-overdose. Lots of rest today and do feel much better so hopefully am on the mend. Got given a load of mat clothes from SIL today which is fab, so looking fwd to sorting through those. She's skinnier than me so not sure I'll be able to squeeze into them but will try! Also thinking of getting a doppler - I know they have mixed reviews but I am very good at getting myself into a panic so I wonder if that will help at all. Anyone used one?

Hope you all had good weekends - I am off to eat some chocolate, watch some TV and have an early night :)

mumnerves · 21/11/2010 20:28

bunnygirl just had a nosy at your pic of Will, he's a long boy isn't he? Lovely leggy arms and legs, those Aussie girls will be after him when he's older and tall :)
Also a bit Shock at how neat you were at 21 weeks!
Thanks for the BF tip, have bought 2 cartons of milk just in case and you've just confirmed I've done the right thing.

Cherry hope you get over the cold soon, I've had 2 colds so far and like you struggled without the usual OTC dosing up, so lots and lots of sympathy from me! Hot lemon and honey drink and lots of rest for you and enjoy that chocolate. :)

OH and I went for a lovely lunch today partly to celebrate our anniversary and as a last time out to a nice restaurant. That was all I did today other than get myself up and changed and I'm shattered! Hope my energy levels come back after the birth or I'll never be able to cope with this baby :(

Have a nice week ladies.

bunnygirl80 · 21/11/2010 23:50

Thanks for all the compliments on Will - I think he's the cutest baby ever, but then I'm slightly biased Grin

He is pretty skinny for his length. He's only on the 25 percentile for weight, but the 50th for height. His head's only on the 10th percentile which probably explains why he popped out so easily Smile

mumnerves It's strange looking at pics of my bump - I thought I was looking properly pg at 21 weeks, but really there was no bump to speak of!!

Glad you and OH had a nice meal out. You might find you have more opportunities than you think to eat out once your LO arrives - we've already been out for lunch with Will twice and he's only 12 days old

halo I never had any boob leakage while I was pg, but I think they're making up for lost time now. It's somewhat alarming to look down in the shower and see milk spraying everywhere. Slightly less alarming than actually being able to see the state of my bikini line again ShockGrin

MissFlick · 22/11/2010 02:40

Just sticking my head round the door to wish Highheels luck today- have been thinking of you all week.

Lots of love to all

xxx

HermyaAndThePomBears · 22/11/2010 09:35

Mumsnerves Oh my gosh, how exciting!! It's so odd during the last few weeks of pregnancy as suddenly you just pop! I agree with Bunny, I was surprised how much we've been able to get out. We even got out for a meal in an actual restaurant. I mean we did do it at lunchtime, but it still counts. I think that in the first few weeks babies are pretty sleepy and when we've been out in the car or pram the motion of them has sent DS right out for the count.

Halo I'm the same as Bunny, I never had any leaks whilst pregnant but boy am I making up for it now. I have on more than one occasion covered DS in breast milk. Well I suppose there are worse things to be covered in aren't there.

Cherry I hope your cold clears up soon.

MissFlick Hi there!!

HH I hope things go well for you today.

Lucky I've got a moby one, it's a wrap sling. The main reason I got this one was a friend has the same one and she still uses hers with her four year old son. My DH has said the same about the sling as well. I will get him into it though. He just doesn't know it yet.

MrsW I'm sorry about your heartburn, if you go to the Docs they can give you the super duper strength gaviscon which is a little better than the stuff they sell in the shops.

Well me and DS are plodding along, he's four weeks old now. My word, I have a four week old son how bizare is that.

We've been experimenting with my cloth nappy pile and we've so far discounted three brands and love one. So next week, we're buying and selling some and we'll be going into them during the day. I'm going to work my way upto nights as DH does most of the night changes (lovely lovely DH) and I think it would kill his brain to introduce something new into the system.

Hermya glad to hear everything is going well, keep us informed Grin

I'm good, getting fatter by the minute and my appetite is slowly coming back, even managed a full Sunday roast this weekend! I found some maternity trousers, god love GAP and their 30% off vouchers and lucky some Topshop jeans, I was amazed, thank you!

We found a house to move to this weekend too and I can't wait, sooo excited. I could imagine me and DH with little bean in there and think we'll be really happy. Starting to get really excited about it all now :)

xx
